Fairhope doesn't have many authentic ethnic restaurants. I was worried about trying this one, because I love Indian food and didn't want to be disappointed. They exceeded my most generous expectations. This is a delicious and authentic restaurant, and if you're considering trying Indian food for the first or hundredth time, go here. We arrived just after the buffet and ordered from the dinner menu. Two of us ordered vegetable dishes and two of us ordered meat dishes, and we all shared it, family style. We had chicken tikka masala (a great dish to try if you've never had Indian before), lamb vindaloo (lamb with potatoes), baighan bartha (a smooth eggplant curry) and a lentil dal. We ate it with the basmati rice (a delicious long-grain rice that is more fragrant than many western rices) and plain naan, a buttery, fluffy bread that is a bit like pita. They will ask you if you want your food mild, medium, or spicy. Two of us love REALLY spicy -- authentically spicy -- food, so we ordered it spicy. It was fabulous: the kind of spice that makes you sweat and clears your sinuses. Two others ordered medium, and although it was still kicking, it wasn't so spicy that it made them uncomfortable. Our meal was delivered quickly. We were worried about the service -- and the first person who tried to help us did seem to struggle with English, poor guy -- but our service was excellent. The food is EXTREMELY good value for the price. All around, this was a wonderful dining experience. We can't wait to go back and we hope you'll try it; we'd love to see this place stay here in Fairhope.

Have eaten here twice at this location, both times for lunch. Right now, Yak is only offering buffet service at lunch time. The buffet, however, is simple but delicious, with both meat (usually chicken) and vegetarian options. Service is decent, food tastes great. I look forward to trying the full menu either at dinner or, eventually, maybe? at lunch. I do wish they had napkins available that were larger than cocktail size, but customers can make do with a small pile of these for now.

Very affordable quality Indian food. The buffet is $9. I tried almost everything and enjoyed all of it. An incredibly nice gentleman named Ahmed waited on me. Small operation. They recently opened up and I encourage everyone to give them a try. Not aware of all that many Indian restaurants around Fairhope so I hope they find success.

I had read on another website that this particular Yak had questionable service, if not food. But my wife and I liked the Mobile Yak so much we wanted to give this closer one a try. Sure enough, mixed results. While one of our dishes wasn't quite as tasty as what we had in Mobile, the food overall was ok. But the service wasn't. The servers and hostess were dressed in very casual t-shirts--not really suitable even though this isn't a fancy restaurant. We were the only customers when we arrived at about 5:30, but it still took close to 30 minutes to be served, and it took a while for us to be checked on. The staff seemed more interesting in standing in one corner and chatting. Still, I might give it a try again one day, if they are still around in Fairhope.

Super good food but absolutely awful service. I hope they stick around because I love the food, but they may lose people over the service (and they forget to turn on the open sign)!

Food was excellent; we split four curries which were of varying spiciness, all delicious. Each one was flavorful and had the right amount of spice. The menu seemed quite extensive and gave detailed descriptions of each dish. Service was acceptable. Go here while you can!

If you like cold food, hard rice, empty buffets, dirty restaraunts and less than average service, this may be your spot.

Four of us enjoyed a pleasant meal after walking First night Fairhope. Lamb Korma, white rice, cheese Naan served warm by staff willing to serve and happy to help with suggestions, Lamb Marsala with some zing, mixed noodle entree very tasty, Rice Pudding calmed it all at the end, appetizer was Pakora fried flavor with green and red sauce/chutney. We also contributed to Nepal Earthquake rescue at the restaurant. We were pleased.
