I have only eaten lunch there and have enjoyed everything every time. Salads are good and their sandwiches are great- the seasonings, the combination of flavors and textures (chicken sandwich on asiago roll is my fav). Soups and fish are ok. The restaurant is tiny. There are 3 tables inside or you can seat at the bar (which is not a real bar, it's just a counter with chairs around it), and there are 5 or 6 tables on the patio, overlooking the Bay. The operation hours are somewhat confusing; my friends who are living nearby have told me that they never know when Thyme will be open. If you happen to drive by on a nice day and it's open but packed, just get a sandwich and a bottle of wine (they do serve wine) to go and go enjoy the Fairhope beach/ pier - you'll get same great food and the view! P.S. will someone please explain to me why there are 6 five star reviews for this business that have been filtered out? How does that work? Too good to be true??

Great little restaurant with a small but delicious choice of food. eggs Benedict was excellent. Shrimp and grits was good. But I want to go back to try out the burger. Looked amazing. For brunch, this is a great place to go with a wine selection and drink specials with a view of the bay!

What a find! cozy little place with a great view of the bay. The lamb and beef gyro was delicious. Came with a side of sweet potato fries. So good I ate the whole thing! The service was friendly. Would definitely go there again.

Dropped by for lunch had the Cuban and the Burger, both good, the truffle fries were very good. Went back for brunch the next day and had the fried egg, chili mac and cheese (which was awesome).

We have traveled around the country and spent time in Europe, and this tiny restaurant is right up there with the best. Driving past it does not look very impressive, but does have a great location overlooking the bay. The menu is seasonal and changes several times a year. I love that you can show up in jeans and have a fabulous, casual meal. They place all their focus on the quality of the food, as you will experience with the first bite! Do make reservations as seating is very limited for dinner.

What a lovely little find! If you blink you might miss this place. There's more parking in the back. We sat outside on the deck with a pleasant view of the park and glimmers of the bay further on. I had the Grilled Veggie with Hand Cut French Fries, my husband and friend had the Thyme Burger and Caesar Salad. Everything was tasty and wonderfully spiced. The staff seemed genuinely delighted we were there even though we came when lunch was ending.

We stopped here for lunch last Saturday before going to the Arts Festival -- the weather was perfect and we enjoyed sitting outside overlooking the Bay. My husband and I both had Caesar salads with shrimp -- not the most exciting thing on the menu but just what we were in the mood for. Their version had just the right amount of dressing, a generous portion of shrimp, croutons and small pieces of bacon. We're looking forward to trying other items on their menu soon.

My second time here and it's just good, fresh food. Today had shrimp tacos with the pasta salad. Shrimp tacos were very spicy which I love. Pasta salad was more tomatoes and cucumber than anything but the tomatoes were so fresh, surprising this time of year. Small place, excellent service.

Very small, quaint place with a cottage, homey feel. Service was pleasant. Shrimp tacos were delicious and my friend had the tuna tacos and said she enjoyed them.

Being new to the area from San Diego, CA my husband and I have been excitedly trying wonderful new restaurants. After reading an article in a local magazine about Thyme by the bay, and coming onto Yelp to look at the reviews, we decided to travel over to Fairhope for the afternoon on a Saturday to enjoy lunch at Thyme who was praised for focusing on flavor and being "all about the food". Boy were we let down. Even though the restaurant is located in a picture-perfect location, and the building itself has character and is adorable, the food was anything but taste-y. I'm not sure if this was just a fluke in the kitchen for the afternoon because it was near the end of the lunch service or what, but we were extremely disappointed. I had the BLT soup with pecan and cranberry salad. My husband ordered the Gyro and sweet potato fries because they ran out of both the regular french fries AND famous truffle fries. My BLT soup had NO flavor and NO seasoning. It literally tasted like they chopped up some canned tomatoes, fried up some bacon, and chopped some greens and threw them into water and called it good. I had to ask for salt and pepper, and put more than 3 pinches of both in to make it tolerable. I thought the salad would bring nice refreshment, but I was let down again. I am not a picky person people!! I just enjoy flavorful food and this was not it. The salad tasted like it was dressed in plain olive oil. It was in dire need of an acid (lemon juice or at least sweet honey)! And it didn't stop there. Even though my husband's gyro had good flavor (I even tried it) his fries weren't even fried. They were soft and tasted like that had been sitting out for a few hours and were just heated in the microwave. I wish I could redeem this review by saying that the atmosphere of the restaurant made this entire experience better, but it didn't. The entire time we couldn't help but feel rushed and unwanted. The owner and his wife didn't smile at us once or make us feel welcomed. We hurried as quickly as we could to finish because we were so uncomfortable. I thought there was Southern Hospitality in the south?! Unfortunately, we will never go back again. I wish we had a better experience because I want to support "Mom and Pop" restaurants, but this was so, so disappointing.

Great lunch venue when the weather is fine. I have eaten here many times and have never had any result but delicious and well served. Amazing venue looking across flower beds and Mobile Bay Bluff. In fact I would not want to go here if eating inside is the deal but inside is always filled so it must be enjoyable. Might be physically a chore for an elderly person if parking across the street and walking half a block is an issue.

Great spot! The view of the bay is amazing and makes me wish that Fairhope had more waterfront restaurants. I like to come here for lunch more than dinner. The grilled veggie sandwich is excellent. Dinner was good but not five stars, and brunch was about like dinner: worthwhile but not knock your socks off for the price. I really hope these guys make a success of this place, and grow it into a fairhope institution.

Excellent food and the view on the front deck has an awesome view of the bay. I had the pastrami with truffle fries. The flavors explode in your mouth and the smoke flavor meat is just what the doctor ordered! Everything fresh and made to order, check it out!

My fiance and I stumbled across this great find while driving down to Orange Beach. I have Eggs Benedict which were fantastic and he had Shrimp and Grits which were also excellent. The location is fantastic with a great view of Mobile Bay. I would go back when in the area for sure!

Great spot by the bay. I had the snapper and my bf had the roasted chicken. Both were yummy and well seasoned. I did feel like I was eating a pound of butter tho... normally, I dont have to *think* about it. But a great spot nonetheless, esp. on a cooler evening!

One of my favorite places I have ate in the area! I ordered flounder with risotto and it was probably the best flounder dish I have ever had! The food was amazing, the service was great, and atmosphere is perfect! There is a nice view of the bay and the restaurant is really quaint. The only draw back is the price. The entrees averaged about 30 dollars a plate, but worth the money.

Best fries I've ever had! Truffle fries were out of this world. I had the chicken caprese sandwich and my wife had the mahi mahi tacos. The place was a little "rustic" but the food was amazing. Don't let the looks deceive you! This will be on our rotation the next time we are in fairhope!

We ate at Thyme By The Bay on a Sunday. They have a pretty good bruch. We were at the Pier and decided to grab something to eat as we worked up an appetite walking the Fairhope pier. I had the Buffalo burger with blue cheese. Really fantastic. Kids had french toast, pancakes, scrambled cheesy eggs, the usual breakfast fare. The food was definitely elevated. The mimosas were also tasty. All in all, a very good experience and meal. Will be going back.

We came for a view of the bay and a good meal. Luckily we had a good view of the bay. The food was ok. I do not recommend the pork confit for lack of flavor or the ceviche tostada, which had I cleaned shrimp in it. The wait staff were anything but welcoming. The Tina tartare was excellent as were the truffle fries. Their menu is not posted online as it is ever changing. This can lead to some misconceptions that their food is affordable for a family to dine. I would recommend this to couples for a romantic evening. We only tried some tapas as the food is quite pricey. Overall the wait staff needs to be more welcoming and the menu should be posted online.
