I-65 in Alabama is a lonely road. When your kids are hungry and grumpy, finding a lunch spot is like any port in a storm. That's how we landed at this Waffle House in BFE. The locals here speak a different language. I couldn't understand a word they said. Fortunately this Waffle House hired bilingual staff so they could take our orders in English. I appreciate that. My lunch was a tad below average for Waffle House, which is pretty bad I guess. The eggs were a little runny, let's say medium rare. The waffles were not golden brown. The restaurant was also dirty. But at least the staff were friendly and my kids left full and happy. So in short, don't eat here. There are far more choices in Greenville, AL a short distance north.

My wife and I needed a break from the road and were hungry. The restaurant looked new but empty. We suspected they might be closed, as it was Easter Day but were greeted inside by friendly staff. I had minimal expectations but they were quickly exceeded. The waitress was friendly and competent. The coffee was tasty and at the perfect temperature, my soft scrambled eggs just as I like them, and the hash browns perfect. It became appparent as other customers came in that this was a meeting place for locals. Some of the conversations were fascinating, but you had to understand southern dialect. The cameraderie between the staff and customers was warming. Grouchiness and fatigue among staff and mediocre food have been my previous Waffle House experience; I shall return here to see if I can repeat this occasion's experience.

After reading a few less than favorable reviews, we were reluctant to stop at this Waffle House. We were pleasantly surprised. The food arrived very quickly and everything was delicious - waffles, eggs, and bacon. And, my decaf coffee was good too (usually decaf has been sitting and is bitter.) The service staff was very friendly. We would definitely stop again.

Stopped in for lunch at Waffle House. Strange I know, but the better half was in the mood for some Breakfast. Our soft spoken Waffle House Waitress was new and discombobulated. But sweet. I don't know how long she'll last in the high speed, high intensity world of shouting your order to the cook. I was worried she wasn't ever going to deliver the extra side of bacon we ordered either, but it did finally show up. Not the best Waffle House experience I've ever had, but in the end we got what we wanted.
