This is one of the best places to eat in the Eastern Shore. Love the large, fresh cut onion rings. Want a shrimp po-boy be prepared to have a plate of shrimp left over, and the shrimp is fried perfectly. Love this place.

Best gumbo in Daphne! The largest overfilled shrimp po-boys around. Great fresh gulf seafood made the way you would make it at home if you had all day to do it. You won't be disappointed when you dine here!

This place is a little rustic. But they have great po-boys. The oyster/shrimp po-boy is over-stuffed and delicious. I highly recommend it.

Wish I could give this place 6 stars!!! We were lucky enough to stumble upon it after getting gas and couldn't believe how amazing the food was! We all got shrimp po'boys and wow was that a good decision!! They give SOO much shrimp- they couldn't even fit all on the (very fresh) bread. For only $11 you get a ton of shrimp and two sides. Between the 3 of us we had fries, coleslaw, beans, and hush puppies all of which were delicious. What really stood out to be was the friendly and caring workers/owners. After telling the owner that we weren't from the south she gave us a sample of gumbo because we had never tried it. So sweet! Over all this is the place to come if you are looking for a delicious value for your dollar in the form of fresh seafood.

As we were on the way to the grocery store one Friday night (Are you jealous of my wild and exciting life?), I mentioned to my husband that we should stop in Market By The Bay and pick up some fresh seafood sometime. He decided that night was as good of a time as any, so we pulled in. When we walked in, we were greeted by a man I assume is the owner or manager, who informed us they didn't have any uncooked seafood for sale at that time of the night, but suggested we try the gumbo. He gave us a little sample, and it was fantastic with a perfectly seasoned roux. We suddenly decided it wasn't a good idea to go to the grocery store hungry, so we ordered a couple po-boys. The hubs had shrimp and oyster and I had shrimp. They brought us fresh, perfectly fried seafood served on fresh Gambino's French bread they order from the famous NOLA bakery. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day, and have been back a few times since. Not only has this place become our favorite place, but it's also the place our boys request we go for dinner. One is hooked on the gumbo and the other is hooked on the shrimp. We're hooked on all of it - the food, service, and price! If you don't want to take a Yelper's word for it, check out what Emeril has to say about it in the article sitting in the window, or the list of 100 Places to Eat in Alabama article on the door. Either way, just try it and you won't be disappointed! It's far better, and much less expensive, than the touristy places around here.

Great food! We stopped in on our way to Florida and were met with fabulous hospitality. They offered to let us sample the gumbo, it was delicious! I also recommend their fried shrimp and French fries. Cute little place with good food and helpful staff!

We just ate here and its fantastic! Got the combo of fish and shrimp. The shrimp are a great size and the whitefish was delicious! Its a really great place. A small menu but so worth stopping in and trying and the gumbo is really good :-) The prices are reasonable and portions are great. I highly recommend!

Delicious, fresh seafood, friendly staff, prompt service, and great portions. The hush puppies and shrimp were awesome and the gumbo was tasty. My only complaints, and they're not very serious, are that the bathroom was tiny and cramped and that the AC seemed to not be working well, so it was a bit hot in the dining area (although they did have fans going). These little issues aren't enough to cost them a 5-star rating, though, because the food was fantastic and you can't beat the prices. I'll definitely be back next time I'm across the bay.

Shrimp po'boy, get it! Market by the Bay is a gem and I am almost reluctant write about it and it get too crowded. This place is a must stop if you are staying near here or if you are traveling I-10. The shrimp Po boy is definitely the best they have a light batter and season it after they cook it so that's not too salty. They use smaller shrimp so it fries up tender rather than a big one that gets chewy and difficult to eat as a whole. All the shrimp is served on warm crusty french bread, a bed of lettuce and pickle. If you like fried shrimp you will always crave this po'boy. I wished they made their own tartar sauce but the shrimp are so FRESH and delicate that I rarely dress it with anything anyways. I also had the gumbo and rice and was so pleased. The roux is exactly the dark color that I like my gumbo (and can rarely get it that way at home). I like the gumbo because it is thick and delicious with more fresh shrimp that Market by the Bay is so good at serving. I also had a fried soft shell crab and it was good. This is the ultimate easiest way to eat crab and would recommend to everyone assuming you've tried the shrimp first!! This place is also awesome because it is so convenient. It less than half a mile off the highway, do yourself a favor and stop in. People of Daphne how could you go to fast food across the street? This place is so good. Word on the street is that Celebrity chefs from New Orleans love this place as well. Go get some seafood and strike up a conversation with the staff they are totally cool and friendly! Rock on Gulf Coast!

Ordered gumbo and fried fish with hushpuppies. Gumbo was good... fish was so fresh and cooked perfectly. Just the right amount of batter and fish was still moist. Delicious. Hush puppies were also some of the best I've had. Service was prompt and courteous. Great place and will go back to try the much-raved poboys.

I have lived and worked on and around the Gulf all my life. I've eaten some of the best seafood on the planet at various times, prepared both by Cordon Bleu chefs and the Mommas and Gran-mommas of friends and co-workers, I can say without hesitation of any kind: this place is THE ABSOLUTE BEST. It is a fresh seafood market on one side, and a kitchen on the other. There are a few tables, but really, their business is oriented more towards the take-out side of the business. That being said, ALL of the help are terrifically knowledgeable about their business, and attentive and charming to their customers. I can say without a doubt that the Gumbo is some of the best I've ever had. The oysters, shrimp, and fish have been carefully selected to be the very best of what is available. Because it is a market, they can afford to charge the more reasonable "market-rate", rather than the atrociously expensive "tourist-rate" that you must pay every where else. It has been my good fortune to eat there several times, and ANYTIME it's my turn to choose, my family already knows where I want to go. How many places do you know of that you can honestly say:"I've never had a bad meal" there, or even just an OK meal. It's ALWAYS fabulous. ALWAYS.

This place is a must stop for my family EVERYtime we visit Mobile! Shrimp and Oyster poboy is a must have whenever we are on the coast! They are expanding and the place looks great. At times the shrimp is fresher that others but it's always excellently prepared.

Wow, seriously tasty shrimp and oysters! Came with two sides and I picked hush puppies and coleslaw. They gave me a large sample of their gumbo which I ate while waiting for my order. It was great, so I ordered a quart to go for my husband to eat when he gets home from work at midnight. He will not be disappointed with that! The sweet tea was even perfect, not too sweet and they even gave me a to go cup for the drive back. If you are looking for a fancy place this isn't it. If you are looking for very reasonably priced, well prepared fried oysters and shrimp, check it out. You will be happy you did!

Can't find a better place for Gulf Coast seafood! I ordered the shrimp po-boy for $10.99. It was overflowing with shrimp cooked to perfection. The order was filled quickly and accompanied with a smile. Support local!

Sorry to disagree with most of the reviews here. Maybe it was a bad day or something. I have ordered here many times this year. The food has ALWAYS been great and still is. However, the quantity of food your given has continues to be less and less. The last time I went the po-boy was no longer over stuffed. Today I ordered the seafood platter and paid $13.68. The order had 4 shrimp, 6 small oysters, 1 fish fillet, hush puppies, and coleslaw. To me, this is over priced.

This is a neat place convenient to I-10. One side is a fresh seafood market and the other side puts out some very good basic seafood dishes. My first time there I was given a sample of their Gumbo as a "newbie". I have since returned and bought it by the gallon for parties! Last week I stopped in to get a shrimp po' boy and was astounded by the size! usually I do take out but decided to use one of the tables and read the paper while I dined. 20 minutes later I still had too many perfectly-fried fresh shrimp in the basket to even close the bread around the sandwich. The fries were very good (I only had a couple) but the cole slaw was too sweet for my taste. R&R has better prices on their raw seafood but the cleanliness of market attracts me. The staff is also second to none in knowledge and friendliness.

I normally go to their restaurant in Fairhope. It's not one of those places where you'd invite ppl for lunch - no view, no ambience, no chance of having a leisurely lunch, however, it's an excellent take out; my most favorite thing to do is to get their oyster poboy to go (they do excellent job with their seafood but oysters are my favorite) and go down to Fairhope pier or the public beach and have lunch there (the weather permitting). The food is definitely worth trying and if you can, get a take out.
