Cute little restaurant hidden in Cahaba Heights. Good food, but not quite worth the price you pay. My mom and I visited about a year ago and paid $20+ for orange juice, coffee, and two biscuits. The biscuits are filling, but for that much money, I can get a good meal with leftovers elsewhere. Good to check out if you've never been but I won't be going out of my way to go back.

The biscuits were good not great. They are a healthier take on a southern classic. Great service and welcoming atmosphere. Good place to try if your in the area.
(3)Michael D.
Concept is there, food is subpar and prices are outrageous. Might give it another shot down the road and will edit review.
(2)Bertram Y.
Very disappointed with my 1st visit. The staff was wonderful but the portions and the price don't match. 1 regular size biscuit with no sides was $10! Overrated in my opinion, but worth saying that you have been.
(3)Kenny P.
Nice restaurant and staff, but the biscuits themselves (which are made with what appears to be whole grain flour) was tough and almost cake-like, not the flaky biscuits I expected. I would give it another shot, but it didn't live up to expectations.
(3)Leslie P.
I would have rated ABC 3.5 stars but as that was not an option, I have reluctantly chosen 4. The quality of ingredients and creativity of recipes elevates this place above 3 stars easily, however biscuits were overpriced and under portioned. We would gladly pay more per biscuit if the meal was more substantial.

Absolutely love this place! A definite hangout spot among my friends and I. So far I've tried the ham and cheese biscuit and the goat cheese and pecan biscuit. Both were extremely good. Also the vanilla lattes and chai tea lattes are to die for! The only downside to this restaurant is the pricing. It can get very pricey for small amounts of food. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
(4)Chris F.
Simplicity at its finest! If you are looking for smothered & covered, this isn't it. If you are looking for excellent, handmade, fresh, and organic ingredients + plus good coffee, this is it!! Even just the standard biscuit with a side of honey is an excellent choice.

When I arrived in Birmingham I decided to drop by this place since it seemed like a place I would love (absolutely love biscuits ). This place is just a hop skip and jump from Miss Myra's BBQ. When I walked in this place the very first thing I noticed is just how sterile it is. It's definitely all about the biscuits; there's no personality to the place at all. It's like being in a hospital; there's not too much I can say about hospital food (good or bad). Needless to say I've never been the type to assign any value to the atmosphere; you never miss it until it's gone--folks, it's gone. The food may be awesome --I just couldn't do it.

For breakfast this place is the bomb!! I can't say enough good about it. Fresh local ingredients. The crispy pancetta biscuit is my favorite. Perfectly crispy think pancetta with manchego cheese. salt them to top it with a perfectly cooked poached egg and I promise u will be in heaven. Hey include a homemade fig jam making it the perfect combo of sweet and salty. The coffee is brewed to order and perfect. Today when for the croque madam and it was great. Still love the pancetta but it was really perfect. Can't say enough good about this place. Go there. U will not be disappointed.

Met some friends for a biscuit and coffee here recently. My wife asked for a latte with soy. They do not carry anything besides locally produced whole milk. There was a bit of an attitude about not carrying anything else and pride about it being local. I get that but some people can't tolerate lactose. Milk alternatives for coffee is a staple at any place that offers coffee service as a core of their business. I like when businesses buy local but you have to be reasonable...none of the coffee beans will ever be locally grown. At a minimum, if you don't carry something don't put off the customer when the request is a common one.

Don't bring a man with you for breakfast that likes a hearty meal unless he is prepared to spend $20. Everything is all carte and while it may be " organic " it still boils down to a tiny biscuit that left me wanting more. I also almost froze to death in the mostly steel interior. It seems like a nice place but didn't hit the spot for me.
(2)Grace G.
This place is great! My biscuit was nothing short of delicious. However, it is ridiculously over-priced. Come on, 6.99 for a biscuit?! Even the drinks were pricey.
(3)Rod L.
I love breakfast and the holiday was a perfect time to grab a brunch and try out this place, largely based on Yelp! Reviews. I must say I was shocked by two things... The prices and lack of Southern Breakfast offerings. Of course, I quickly learned that this is NOT a place you go for a Southern breakfast. No eggs, no sausage (not even Conecuh), no bacon, no grits! Just biscuits or a bowl of Oatmeal. I have never paid $7 for one biscuit before in my 46 years, and despite the good taste, don't expect to again. For the price you get one medium sized, very "healthy" biscuit, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. To top it off, my $3.50 cup of coffee was, well, awful. I wish them luck, but I don't see how you can survive with this concept here. Our bill was $28 for 2 Ham & cheese biscuits, one "Alabama" biscuit, coffee and small OJ.
(2)Andy R.
Wow, amazing. In from NY for biz trip and stopped here for quick breakfast. This place is serious! Had biscuit with pecan butter and honey. Delicious, fresh, creative, impeccably prepared, top quality ingredients. Coffee was great too. Shame that people bring the ratings down complaining about prices and orange juice, totally irrelevant to the mission. This is five stars all the way!
(5)Heather B.
Good Southerners know that the biscuit is a vehicle... but there's an obvious difference between a Pinto and a Porsche. The same is true with biscuits. Alabama Biscuit Company screeches in somewhere in the middle. Not bad, because you can easily recognize luxury, but it has to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Light, moist, and fluffy are excellent biscuit benchmarks. Chokingly dry and hard as rocks are the all-too-common indicators of awful biscuits. And don't even get me started on the abomination called canned biscuits. I kept things simple and ordered the almond butter and jelly biscuit, which, coming in at six dollars and change, I expected to be at least borderline life-altering. The almond butter was indeed tasty. I did at some point become a discerning adult and experience varieties of jelly other than grape, all without ever being enrolled in a jelly-of-the-month club. I don't know why I expected possibly apple jelly instead of grape, maybe it's just how my head pictured it and my tongue tasted it before I ordered. The biscuit itself was passable - not too tough, rather on the dry side, but not indelible. That combined with the sticks to the roof of your mouth quality of the almond butter called for perhaps a pat of butter to melt into everything. Overall, a good biscuit, but a tad underwhelming. And don't come in here looking for a white biscuit, because they don't bleach their flour. That's not how they roll. The atmosphere and decor are pleasing, and reflect well the concept of the entire establishment - a little bit rugged, a little bit modern, wholly and happily simplistic. I'm looking forward to coming back to try all the other biscuit offerings, and maybe even seeing if this joint can convert me to oatmeal as a viable meal option.
(4)Kristi B.
Excellent. First time having breakfast here. We had the daily special, egg sauage and cheese biscuit. The egg was poached...and it was yummy. We will definitely be back.
(4)Ash S.
Pretty good breakfast, I personally didn't care for the spelt biscuit but I did enjoy the toppings. We tried the almond butter and honey biscuit which was good a little heavy on the almond butter. Also tried the crochet madam which was very very good! The place was very cute and the staff nice.
(3)Laura G.
Great food! Outstanding service. Interesting concept. However, by 9:00 AM on a Sunday, they were out of orange juice. The portions were small, and we just happened to be really hungry that day. The craft food was just too expensive for us to get seconds there.
(3)Cat S.
oh my biscuit! this is as good as it gets for local biscuit-making. menu changes daily/weekly. go super early or very late (but risk items being sold out).
(5)s r.
Great concept. Quality tasty gourmet biscuits. Nice place to grab a relatively quick breakfast. Just pricey! But never complain about $$$ for great food.
(5)Kam W.
Our food was very good but the biscuits were I would say almost $2.00 overpriced. $21.00 for two biscuits and two regular coffees.
(4)Jessica P.
The orange juice was fresh squeezed and delicious. We tried several biscuits and had a hard time choosing our favorites. The almond butter and jelly was my favorite and my boyfriend likes the pancetta and the goat cheese with pecans and honey. Although we were passing through it would become a regular spot if we lived in Birmingham.
(5)Scott M.
Definitely the best sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit I have ever had. We also tried the blueberry one, and WOW! Some other reviewers have commented on the small size and I agree, the biscuits are not huge. BUT, due to the quality ingredients and the flours used in the biscuits, I found it to be very filling. I appreciated the fact that it was so delicious AND not filled with the GMO crap you get at all the fast food places. So, yes, it is pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. I was very impressed and will go back every chance I get.

The Alabama Biscuit Co. sets out to disrupt the idea of a conventional biscuit and they do so masterfully. The "southern chic" decor is tastefully done and makes for a warm and relaxing ambience. I absolutely love the marble slab community table and window side nooks. The branding and menu is simple and to the point, with a fresh selection of biscuits I've never even heard of but can't wait to try. I've had both the Ham & Cheese and regular biscuits and I very much enjoyed them both. You really can taste the quality of the local ingredients they use. The staff is always welcoming and hard at work. They make sure that you get exactly what you wanted and will fix it if you don't. I respect the Alabama Biscuit Co. for doing what they do best and not expanding or broadening the menu to include traditional breakfast foods. If you want bacon and eggs, goto Waffle House...here they do biscuits, and they do them well.

Two words: Out. Standing. If you want to experience what the crew behind Alabama Biscuit is up to, head over to Cahaba Heights around 9am on a Saturday morning, You'll have to queue up for a table, because the earthy/urban shop will be packed. While you wait in line, inhale deeply through your nose - smell that? That's the aroma of some of the best biscuits you haven't had yet, but you're going to experience them soon. Check out the classic menu board over on the wall, keep enjoying the aroma, and take in the repurposed decor (really cool tables). If you're with a group, get one of everything and trade bites around with your friends (if you're able to convince them to stop eating long enough to share). If you're by yourself, get one of everything and hoard it all. I mean, no, just go with the ham & cheese (my fav), the Alabama (brown sugar sauce and toasted pecans on a biscuit?? yes please!), or maybe just a plain, buttered biscuit. No worries, it's all good - really, literally ALL of it is good. Now that you've decided what to eat, you may progress to the comparatively easy decision of what to drink: coffee. Yes, there are other options - juices, tea, or even Virgil's sodas - but coffee is the route to take here. Right now Octane's beans are supplying the joe, which you can get as a plain-ol' drip coffee (with refills), a pour-over, a "Softbrew for two," or an espresso drink. The Softbrew is good, and a different process than any offered by the numerous other coffee-brewing shops in the area, but it is fairly pricey per-cup ($7.50 for a scant two cups). But hey, if you're getting breafkast (or lunch, that's good too) here, price point for this particular meal is a low-priority consideration - this is all about the experience! Anyway, I recommend the pour-over, but you can ask what beans they're brewing with (it can differ between the drip, pour-over, and espresso options) and pick your favorite. There might be a table open now - quick, grab it! Stake your spot out and sit back for a few minutes (you're still enjoying the aroma and decor, right?) to prepare yourself for THE experience.
(5)Mark B.
I believe they are really willing, but need to step back and rethink if they believe this is going to be anything other than a little "cool place." Too expensive for a tiny breakfast. You have coffee with biscuits but the atmosphere echoes, so you really do not have a good place for coffee talk. Biscuits are good but nothing that I would really freak out about. If you are going to be an ultra niche place, you really need to do something that is going to make your patrons completely freak out and think about so much they will return. It's not that I am "not going to return," but I'm not really motivated to pick this place over any breakfast place. I wish them the best of luck, they seem like nice people working here, but based on my experience here today, I probably won't remember to recommend this, and doubt I have a real reason to return. I would be nervous if I had invested in this place or if my livelihood depended on it.
(3)Lenny H.
Hot, Simple, Fresh. I've sampled several specialties from Alabama Biscuit, and they are all delicious. Some items are not available for takeout, so plan on dining in to keep your options open. All drinks are prepared properly and with care. No shortcuts here, folks! Try a Green Goat for the comfort of heaven in a cup.

Lord of the Flies - Biscuit style. I love the food. They do a few biscuit breakfasts very well and the atmosphere is hip. However, the seating is every man for himself. You get a number and find a seat. This is not a problem if you are just two people, but on the weekends they will take your order for a party of six regardless of what seating is available and you might find yourself having to eat standing up. This weekend I saw two people at a table for six, a woman trying to eat with an infant on a bar stool (the kid just ended up sitting on top of a common table for for 10 people) and a group of four around a two top (one of the guys had brought a bar stool to the table - really comfortable way to eat!) I love this place, but during high traffic times they would do well to take better care of their customers.
(2)Laura D.
Totally overpriced and the biscuits are not very good. I can make better ones at home.
(2)M. A.
These biscuits are everything a good southern biscuit should be. Flaky, not dense but still perfectly buttery. I tried the cheese biscuit, the goat cheese with pecans and honey, biscuit, and the strawberry coulis with vanilla marscapone biscuit. Each one amazing, but the goat cheese one was perfection. My only qualms are that its a bit pricey, and that the menu is rather bare bones. I feel like there so much more opportunity for awesome biscuit-centric meals! Will definitely come again though!
(4)Sherri G.
Well. They serve delicious biscuits. With stuff on top of them, ranging from just butter to manchego cheese, pancetta and fig preserves . It's interesting, but our gang left unsatisfied. Everyone felt like it was a restaurant serving side items aspiring to be main dishes, with entree prices as well. Rustic, almost undrinkable coffee. We don't want to spend $35 for three meh biscuits and coffee we won't finish.
(2)Analien A.
Absolutely terrible all around. It took nearly 40 minutes to get served one bacon, egg and cheese biscuit to go without so much as a "we're sorry about your wait" or "it will be out shortly." To top it all off, it was a teeny, tiny biscuit that was super dry and cost $10!
(1)Amy C.
Yum! Great food, great environment friendly staff. Only problem, kinda pricey. I understand that they're handmade and organic but $7 for a sausage biscuit is just a a little much. Would certainly go back and have already recommended it to many friends!
(4)J T.
Its a little spendy, but you have to expect to pay for quality ingredients. I got the blueberry it was more of a dessert than breakfast, yes that good. I kick myself for not getting some to go.
(5)Natalie S.
First off - I must say that I really, really enjoyed the biscuit I ate there. They really are fabulous. Yes, they're expensive, but when you want to get out and have a decent bite and enjoy a book while someone else watches the baby it's just the thing. However there are two reasons for the low rating - the coffee and the kitchen hours. The coffee really is rather bad. That's worth one star in my book. The other two stars are because I went in there a second time only to find out that the kitchen closed at one and no biscuits would be forthcoming. I checked the website about three times after I got home and didn't see a single notice that for a whole five hours of their open time you couldn't get a biscuit. That tells me this company isn't too concerned about wasting a potential customer's time. It's possible that I'm a tad sensitive on this topic :) When my husband says he'll watch the baby and sends me out of the house for an hour I'd like to spend as much of that hour as possible curled up by myself with a tasty snack and a good book - not wandering around Cahaba Heights trying to figure out a plan B. As I mentioned above, it's not as though it's worth staying for the coffee. The truth is that I'll probably return at some point because the biscuits really are that good, but I probably won't make this a regular hang out. No matter how good the food I dislike rewarding bad customer service. Update: so per facebook the kitchen doesn't close at one, but they do stop making biscuits and just sell out the remaining supply. Definitely a call ahead situation, and the front counter needs to do a better job communicating this.

I live near this new place and dropped in this morning at 6:40 to pick up a biscuit and coffee. It's a pretty store, located in the former Primavera coffee space. Decor is warm, nice, and classy but not prissy. I had the ham & cheese biscuit and a cup of coffee. You can get a quick breakfast to go here, but probably better to go when you have enough time to sit for a bit. It's not cheap. These are quality ingredients. The biscuits are made from whole grain flour. Don't be put off by that. I will say the biscuit was delicious. Really. At first glance, it looked over-cooked. Not so, just a bit of crisp crust, which give just the slightest crunch, but no burned flavor at all. I mean, really a good biscuit. Tender ham with a melted cheese. Not huge, but just right for me. It cost $7. Coffee was $2.50, I believe. I tipped the woman at the counter. So, you know, $12+ for breakfast. It won't be for everybody because of the cost and I hope it can sustain itself. It's classy, distinctive, and really different. And hyper-yummy. So get your butt over there and drop some cash on these kids.

I was very excited to try this place when I read about it in Paula Deen. The restaurant itself is very warm and cozy with great art. When I saw the pictures of the biscuits on Facebook, they looked HUGE. I knew that it would be pricey due to the "better ingredients," but that was ok because I thought I would be getting a nice sized biscuit. I ordered the ham and cheese and my husband ordered the standard biscuit with a side of honey. He ordered a cup of coffee and I had water. After tip, it was close to $20!! When we got our biscuits, they were so tiny. My husband literally finished his biscuit in 3 bites. The ham was skimpy, not like what I had seen on Facebook. The biscuits tasted good; there just wasn't enough of it. We saw a child sized biscuit while we were there, and it would be appropriate for a child less than 3 or 4 years old-extremely tiny. I get the concept of healthy food and that it costs more; I just wish there would have been more of it. It would cost my family of four close to $50 to eat there!
(2)Emily E.
Biscuits are pretty good. Not the greatest. They need more options. I bought a package of the cookies and they were horrible.
(2)Christina S.
So excited to see this place open. WOOT! THE GOODS: (and I DO mean GOOD! no I mean GREAT!) I had a wonderful cup of coffee (the Pour Over) hand poured by the owner, Jonathan Burch (side note: it was a nice treat to see the owner in there, and to get to meet him - made me endeared to the place right off! - He was super busy yet took the time to chat for a few). For my biscuit, I chose the super yummy Honey Pecan and Goat Cheese biscuit ($7) with the creamiest, most perfectly warmed goat cheese you have ever tasted. Mr SS9 had the ham and cheese biscuit ($7) and it was to die for as well (I snuck a taste with the oldest trick in the world)! They also have plain biscuits with butter and jams (and sorghum too!) for about $4. Spelt biscuits are a bit different than regular flour biscuits. For one, they are better for you, but they also taste really great - very wholesome. Very fresh. The biscuits have a nice crispy top and bottom crust and moist inside. PERFECTION! For about twenty bucks, we had a fresh, wholesome, warm, filling breakfast! That's about as good as it gets for breakfast out! Although I didn't taste any lunchtime specials, I understand the Cuban Sandwich that Jonathan has created, is getting great reviews around town. I think they are trying to go slow on the lunch side, and have a few specials, but soon will take it wide open! They've also got scones and cookies and such if you're in the mood for sweet snacks ($2-$3). The decor is PERFECT. I felt like I was in a super-cool, modern barn! It was awesome. We sat at the Community Table, which is a white slab of Sylacauga Marble (that I wanted to take home with me) at bar table height. All of the other seating is perfectly comfortable and there's plenty of it. We left with warmed, full tummies and a bag of Spelt Flour that we're going to use for our own biscuits at home! OH! And they have a great little gift box for $50 that they will ship anywhere with an "EAT BAMA" coffee cup, biscuit mix and some local Alabama honey (can't beat that for your friends in Wisconsin who don't get to have our wonderful Alabama honey every morning!). You might miss them, if you're not quite sure of the location - they're just behind Miss Myra's in CH (they are on the "arm" of the small strip behind Miss Myra's). They're open first thing in the morning (6:30 on weekdays - perfect for a drive by pick up for your office friends - and 7:00 on Saturdays AND SUNDAYS!) and stay open till 1:00. CHEERS Jonathan! You're doin' a great job and we can't wait to make it back soon!
(5)Stephanie P.
The biscuits are OK, but a tad dry and overpriced. They are not your ordinary biscuit, they are made with spelt flour instead of all-purpose flour. They are nice and fluffy, but a bit dry. They only serve biscuits - no sides. They have coffee, but no artificial sweetener. I understand they are natural & organic - so bring your own if you want it. No soft drinks. Plastic cups for water - no ice. They have one savory biscuit, one plain biscuit and the other offerings are sweet biscuits. They are expensive. $4 for a plain biscuit and & $7 for a biscuit with toppings. $2 to add an egg. The ham & cheese biscuit is my personal favorite of the choices. The ham & cheese in the biscuit tasted good. I think they need to expand their offerings in order to succeed - especially with Big Bad Breakfast coming to the area soon.
(3)Michelle W.
Homemade wheat biscuits, farm fresh eggs and a bomb partnership of ham and chedda for the croque madam. Iced chai is cinnamon laced and reminds me of autumn. Definitely a great low key mellow breakfast spot for the foodie. Next time I'm in town I'll haveta try the pecan butter honey concoction. A must to try. Outside the box of standard southern fried fare and that's just how I like it. Two thumbs up and a high five.
(5)Brandon T.
Fantastic. I stopped mid-bite to write this because I was so pleasantly surprised. This isn't a Hardee's biscuit--if that's what you are seeking then hit 280. All biscuits are not created equal. I ordered the take on a Croque Madame and it is delicious. The ingredients pack a lot of flavor and the biscuit isn't too filling. I might like this better than the real deal Croque, but don't tell Frank Stitt I said that. It's so refreshing to taste something new, and a rarity. Great Job AL Biscuit. I like the partnership with local coffee staple, Octane, as well. They will probably outgrow this place soon--and could use a better system for to go delivery/seating.
(5)Cliff G.
Totally impressed! Absolutely fantastic experiance! 4 stars because they did seem a little pricey and they said they ran out of heavy cream and 1/2&1/2, so I had to drink my coffee black (which is my traditional way anyway). This cheat day (Sunday) we decided to head the biscuit place. It was rather difficult decision (fantastic selection/menu of old school and custom modern biscuits) choosing but we settled with old fashion biscuits and gravy (I wanted to order like 5 thinks but that kinda carb overload for us would have been a tragedy). They seem to use different varieties of flour - sprouted spelt, grain free, etc. Coffee is from local roaster and shop; Octain. The Venue: Casual and quaint little place with lots of wood grain and open ceilings - a little rustic meets bright color. Good all around clean and simple set up that was a good experience from the door to the counter. The Goods: I can't brag enough! The amount of gravy was so perfect that it left me begging for more. Sprouted spelt biscuit and a brown ham and pepper gravy. Go get you one! The Peeps: casual and pleasant staff, warm and inviting. We'll DEFINITELY be back on another cheat day to indulge (: ...... until next Sunday.. Ciao Ciao
(4)Michael P.
This place is a bit pricey for portion size so no 5 stars. Sorghum Latte is great and the specials we had were both good. One savory and one sweet. The biscuits are not your typical southern gut bombs and the pseudo whole wheat crumble biscuit is better suited to a sweet topping. Solid little brunch spot.
(4)Herb L.
Is this place still in business? Value, poor. Taste ok. I can justify paying more for going to a well trained cook who make unique, well thought of dish. This place, whole time I'm thinking, what's so unique about overly priced biscuit. One visit is all I needed.
(2)Brandon L.
At around $10 per biscuit / plate it seems to be over priced until you see and eat it. They use the best ingredients to make this as much of a culinary experience as it is a meal. Very filling. They also make great coffee. I had the sorghum latte and it was fabulous. If you don't try this place you are missing out.
(5)Kayla L.
Once again, I was not disappointed with the Alabama Biscuit Company. I got the daily special : Apple Bis-cake which consists of a deconstructed biscuit layered with apple butter and topped with creamy marscapone and an apple slice. It was absolutely delicious. My sister got the pecan butter and honey biscuit. It was so rich and tasty too. Coffee wise, I got a cappuccino and she got a vanilla latte. They were very well made. Overall great breakfast, but all of that was $25. Pretty expensive which keeps my rating at 4-stars
(4)Jim M.
I had high hopes for the place and it was severely disappointing. It is sure not worth having to max out your credit card for a biscuit the size of a half dollar. I have to think that any 4 and 5 stars given have to be from the staff or their friends. There are much better choices in Birmingham for quality, value, service, and taste.
(1)Carol B.
Hm, just a tad bit overrated in my opinion. If this place was closer to the downtown area, I'd definitely recommend stopping by, but it's kind of a trek to make your way to Alabama Biscuit Co. We arrived and ordered the 'Alabama' biscuit and some iced coffee (which they made fresh). The coffee was very good, but took forever. We were done with our biscuit before we got both servings. The biscuit itself was eh. For some reason it did not seem as fresh as I had hoped it would be. It didn't seem fully warm. The maple butter sauce and roasted pecans that surrounded the biscuit, however, were delicious and we ate up every bit of it. If I lived in the area would I give ABC another try? Certainly. The specials for November sounded delicious (Apple Pie Biscuit, Blueberry Spiced Latte, the Southern Staple with pork belly and a fried egg). Perhaps our paths shall cross again one day, Alabama Biscuit Company...
(3)Christopher B.
I was in Birmingham for a birthday party on Saturday. I found this place on Urbanspoon and Yelp, and they were open on Sunday, so I figured I would give them a try. Nice decor, and obviously in a very rustic part of town. It's right next to a BBQ joint. However, the order taker/cashier needs some training....almost seemed like it was his first day of work. I ordered a fairly simple biscuit...Ham, egg and cheese, with a small milk. Almost $12 total bill!!!!!! The biscuit was the size of a fist, but a week ago I ordered a fist size homemade biscuit in Athens, GA for $5. $2 for a milk that was in a 6 oz glass. I can't imagine the 2nd mortgage I would need to take out if I wanted to feed my wife and daughters here... This place is obviously for the upper 3%, financially. Food was ok, but not worth the $$$$. I won't be back unless I hit the lottery.
(2)Kaitlyn K.
The best biscuit breakfast I've ever had. The Croque Madame was amazing as well as the blueberry bis-cake, the special of the day. Highly recommend to anyone especially tourists.
(5)Sarah O.
The biscuits were great! The toppings were inventive and fresh, and every one of us cleaned our plates. We had the apple biscake, the goat cheese pecan and honey, The ham and cheese, the mufaletta and the alabama. Everyone loved it. Unfortunately it was $50 which is overpriced. I think once this place gets on its feet they should lower the price by $1-2/biscuit. Really good food though!
(4)Pauline S.
Solid 4 stars for a place that only offers several varieties of the same thing- you guested it- biscuits. Go big! You can have butter and jelly on the ones your grandmother makes... We had the goat cheesy- pecan and honey as well as the pancetta and fig. Coffee is good and fresh. Get there early as seating fills up quickly on Saturdays and Sundays!
(4)Boris S.
Great breakfast place with amazing food. Biscuits might have been some of the best I tried. However the prices are a little high sausage egg and cheese biscuit for $9 just not enough food. Don't come here with an appetite.

Breakfast on a Saturday morning seemed perfect to finally try Alabama Biscuit. Great atmosphere. The menu is limited so don't expect to get exactly what you had in mind. I was looking forward to a biscuit with gravy but it's not available. I ended up ordering the ham & cheese and a cup of coffee. The biscuit & coffee were both delicious. However that simple meal was over $10! And the rest of the menu is at least as much. Good food but way overpriced. Waaaay overpriced.

Yum yum yum! Love this place and can't wait to go back and try out other biscuits and their coffee! I had the pecan, goat cheese, and honey biscuit and it was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect proportion of cheese to biscuit with the sweetness of honey and the crunch of the pecans. The biscuit was delicious even on its own. I love everything goat cheese but this biscuit was truly perfect. My friend got the ham and cheese and loved it as well. Portions are appropriate and I can see how some would say the price is a little high for a biscuit, but it is worth it because of the quality of the ingredients. Plus it still ends up much cheaper than a lot of other breakfast places in Birmingham. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Small space but we were able to get a seat after we ordered on a busy Saturday morning!! Go try them out ASAP, I can't wait to go back!

These people are serious about biscuits. I've been several times and I've never been disappointed. They're really good. Like, "drive to Opp and tell your grandma she's a horrible person" good. The coffee is from Octane so you know it's good. If you get there early with a group you can sit in the comfortable window seats. Try the flight on your first visit to decide what your favorite is. Btw, your favorite is the Alabama. They have daily specials to try as well.

Amazing fresh natural flavors! Even during a sugar fast the oatmeal and pecans minus honey was the most fresh delicious tasting delight! My 2nd visit to my neighborhood biscuit house...I'll most certainly be back!

I just paid $9 for a whole wheat biscuit. This place should be called NY Biscuit Company. "Never let a man in skinny jeans make your biscuit."

I thought that if a biscuit was $10, it had better be great... I had the croque madame and it was awesome. I'm not a big biscuit person - but this place might change my mind. The egg was silky and perfect! It was too messy to get it to-go; next time I'll stay there. Cool place - great food.

I love this place. The biscuits are not the salty buttery type you would get at a fast food restaurant but taste more wholesome. They're a little pricy but artfully done and delicious. They put a strong emphasis on good coffee, as well.

I had the pecan, goat cheese, and honey biscuit and a sorghum latte. Both were great! My friend also had a sorghum latte, loved it, and said he already knew someone else who had to come here to try it. This isn't where I would go to study or read but unique drinks (there were several I wanted to try), quality food, and a great atmosphere make this a great place for a morning conversation to catch up with a friend. I will be back.

Excellent coffee and biscuit!! I had the sausage egg biscuit a little pricey but high quality ingredients and excellent flavor make up for it!!

Went on a Sunday morning for brunch. The first two things each of my 5 family members ordered--they were out of...for Sunday brunch. Biscuit and ham that I did get were dry. Coffee was not hot. Kids didn't even have drink choices. Haven't been back because it cost us $60+ to eat not even what we wanted to eat....

This place has an extreme hipster vibe, from the exposed barn wood accents to the hanging printed art. The food was good, but extremely small portions. I paid $15 for a biscuit and orange juice only to discover it was a fraction of the size I was expecting. Come here for a snack, but if you're hungry, go to Cracker Barrel.

The biscuit was a bit dry, but it was tasty and very filling. What really won me over on Alabama Biscuit, however, wasn't the biscuit at all. It was the oatmeal. Their oatmeal is topped with their signature maple butter sauce and pecans, making it arguably the best oatmeal I've ever tasted. I also ordered a vanilla latte which was a nice way to top off my meal. I wasn't a huge fan of the menu placement or design. A chalkboard might go a long way for them! Overall we had a great experience.

As another reviewer said - great biscuit, just not enough of it! I'm all for organic and what not, but 2 biscuits and 2 coffees for $25 was surprising considering the portions. Speaking of coffee, I'm not a coffee snob but this stuff was awful - very strong. The cane sugar supplied couldn't take the bitterness away. Yuck. My wife and I ate lunch out later that day and she joked that our (large) lunch was still less than our 2 biscuit b'fast. I wished I was more impressed since ABC is in my 'hood.

Eating biscuits here is so worth me falling off my wheat free/gluten - free plan! Also, add 5 more stars for the foam design that comes with my latte!! Yummy!!

I would recommend this place for breakfast but not a brunch venue. The food is amazing but its not very large portions so I was pretty hungry again about an hour after I left. The atmosphere is great but on a weekend its not a great place to brunch with friend because it is small and has limited tables so if you want to sit and chat for a while then you'll be holding up one of the 10 or so tables. Do yourself a favor though and order the Chocolate Milk! It is amazing and worth the $2.50 since they make it themselves. I think they used coco which is why it is so rich. Biscuits are also amazing and taste just like my grandmothers home made!

Everything here is quality. Yes it's more expensive than a fast food biscuit... it should be. The green tea latte with goat's milk was good. Really grassy which I liked. The goat cheese, pecan and honey biscuit was delicious. ...so yeah I guess I really like goat stuff, and this place

Very expensive, and I honestly left hungry. Yes the biscuit was good, but $10, prob not. I'd also have to say the service was mediocre at best. It was almost a too cool for school vibe and not a as the name suggest a down home comfort place. Probably won't be back, but I wouldn't discourage someone from trying it.

I walked in - there were 3 or 4 kids running around, 3 adults. Walked up and I asked to see a menu. "Sorry we are closed. We have no menus and you'll have to just look on our website to see it. I picked up a business card so I could remember the name of the place and they grabbed it back saying it was a blank (not filled out or signed) gift certificate and I could not have it. Then told me they were closed and showed me the door. - " Didn't introduce themselves, give me an idea of what they serve, shake my hand - I guess biscuits but it looks like some pictures from some reviews have other things. But I would not know this. They didn't even thank me for being interested enough to walk in and see what their small business was. I wish them the best of luck but that is not the way to get me to return. Sad thing is I have business breakfast in that area twice a week and I could have given them business and exposure through my Vestavia business group I run two blocks from this restaurant. If I give them another shot I'll revise this review. But this was my experience.
