OK selection of vegan and GF frozen foods. A few vegan cheeses, ice creams, etc. A small produce and bulk section, big juice/drink section, and a few raw snacks in the refrigerated section. It's nice to grab a few things really fast. Never seen anything vegan over at the cafe. Store is open later than the cafe, I believe.

They have expanded over the past year and are better than ever. Great selection of specialty and hard to find items. And the only place you want to go if you need gluten free flours or pre-made items. Average to good prices allow me to do most of my grocery sopping here. And they're the only store who carries Vanilla blueberry Greek yogurt to which I'm addicted. I was even able to walk in and get some non-homogenized local milk and kefir grains to make my own at home! Awesome place. Only criticism is they could stand to have a better bread selection. What they have frozen is just fine but fresh is limited. But, that just pushes me to make my own so it's good all around. Finally, gotta say I love this place and their beautiful, friendly, and very helpful staff. Did I mention beautiful?

The best family owned place in town that has such a large variety of Organic Goodies. From prepared to rare Herbs and other essentials. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable. Awesome sandwiches too. Owned by Kenny and Ken.. Go figure.

This review is strictly for the cafe as I didn't have time to shop around. I love the concept of this place but am taking off a star for the overpriced food. Get ready to pay almost $10 for a small salad or sandwich! I'm glad it's around but I'm much happier eating my own homemade vegan/organic/ raw food for less. Raw cookies and brownies are incredibly easy to make! I had the veggie wrap and it was good but nothing I couldn't make myself I thought the raw almond and maca caramel cookie was a good idea too but it had too much vanilla extract that I could taste the alcohol flavor of the vanilla. Again I may drop by once in a while just for the convenience of it but don't think I'd be a regular. The prices in the grocery section, from what I saw seemed very similar to Whole Foods.

Very slow!!! When the workers are standing around talking to themselves... The register almost always rings the wrong price... Very disappointing

Yummy gourmet sandwiches! I have never used it for catering but the Cafe is wonderful and a refreshing change from the standard sandwich shops. They offer fresh ingredients and all the sandwiches can be served panini-style(my favorite way) & are available on your choice of Big Sky's three seed bread, whole wheat bread, or a brown rice tortilla. The organic turkey and jack on the whole wheat with their broccoli salad and tabouli is the best!

This cafe is one of my favorite places for lunch; I wish it were closer to home/work. I have tried a lot of different menu items, both made to order and from the cooler. I have not be disappointed yet. The cafe is definitely worth the 'trip' on a Saturday.

If you want to truly "shop local" while also buying organic, vegan and/or gluten-free items, this is it. I'm a gluten-free girl, so I am always on the lookout for places with a wide range of gluten-free goodies (sometimes you just NEED a cookie or a brownie, you know?)... I usually go here to pick up my Green Vibrance powder, some drops to make my water alkaline, and other supplements that are harder to find. Then I let myself peruse the aisles of gluten-free goodies (they sell all the major American brands like Udi's and Enjoy Life) and pick out a snack or two. Nearer to the cafe they have "fresh" gluten-free and vegan cookies, brownies, and granola that usually come individually wrapped or in a baggie of 3. They tend to be moist and delicious- a friend actually thought he ate a regular brownie and was stunned to find out it was, in fact, sans gluten. The cafe is the other main attraction of Organic Harvest. They serve sandwiches, hot items like lasagna (oftentimes made with vegan cheese or with gluten-free pasta), smoothies of all sorts, and more. They have a small area with tables and chairs inside, and a few spots outside of the store to sit and eat. The atmosphere is not the best because it's located directly off of Highway 31 and is in a little strip-mall. The produce section is small, but good for grabbing essentials. For wider variety, definitely check out one of the farmer's markets. Organic Harvest is not Whole Foods- while they do carry many of the same brands, the concepts are different as is the whole vibe, so come in with an open mind and discover the goodness waiting for you. Plus, the staff are quite knowledgeable and the store often hosts companies who will give you generous free samples and educate you about the various nutritional supplements on offer. Support Local Businesses!!!

This is one of the best places in the Birmingham metro area. The staff is so helpful and friendly. They always help you find what you need. They're knowledgeable and down to earth. You wouldn't know it at first, but this place is cutting edge. They have a chef that makes take home Paleo meals and baked goods. Almond and Coconut flour muffins, cookies, cake, pie. All kinds of stuff. And they have lots of gluten-free and vegan options. Plenty of the prepared items have cross over in these 3 categories, so its a great place for people on all different types of diets. Their cafe and juice bar is great too. They have smoothies, wheatgrass or ginger shots, and sprouted and gluten free options for sandwiches. The grocery section has fermented veggies, an alkaline water dispenser, bulk section, local beer on tap, and a good section of raw and living packaged foods.

The cafe food is pretty good, but the service is SO SLOW. Like snail's pace slow. Watch one of the employees make a juice: they will take one ingredient at a time to the blender. Save time and take everything to the blender at once. If I come for lunch it's usually going to take an hour and a half to get my order, pay, and eat.

I love this place! The products are reasonably priced and they offer a wide range of items. The deli offers wonderful food and my daughter says they have the best smoothies ever! She's four years old and enjoys Organic Harvest as much as I do. Go for a visit! You'll be glad you did.

Dissapointed that the old cafe is gone due to massive grocery expansion. However a sign indicated a new cafe next door would be opening.

Wonderful place x organic shopping of any kind of products that are good for you. Many products are organic and super healthy. They do also have a deli section where they offer sandwiches, salads, and smoothies. Highly recommended.

Organic Harvest is like a whole foods/earth fare on a mom and pop level. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. They have an awesome counter where customers can orders sandwiches, smoothies, tasty desserts and they've even begun to offer grab and go meals. I LOVE the bulk 'bar'- some items can be expensive, but that's the beauty, because you can control the portions as well as try things you've never tried before. Good news yelpers......I hear O.H. is taking over the open space next door and plan to expand the store. yippy-skippy! happy healthy shopping!

Listen up, people of Yelp. I don't particularly care for vegetables. I like them all right, but probably ate too many when I was vegetarian. The fact that I love to come to Organic Harvest for their beautiful veggies says very much about the pleasure I take in shopping here. My first visit, every staff member made sure to ask me if I needed anything. You certainly won't get that kind of helpfulness at your local chain organic shop. If you need an ingredient that you can't find at your average grocery store, you can most likely find it here. I'll make sure to check out Organic Harvest at a time when their cafe is open next - everything they offer sounded delicious.

I usually don't write reviews but the food I just consumed was so unsatisfying and bland that I thought others should know. Just paid too much for hot bar items from here and I got brisket, meatballs, sausage and peppers, toasted cauliflowers, grilled zucchini and squash, Italian tofu, and tomato basil soup. Everything was bland except for the brisket and meatballs, which were alright. Most disappointing was tomato basil soup, which tasted like eating marinara sauce. I had two bites of that soup and I couldn't eat it any more. If I didn't get this to go, I would have asked for my money back.

Such a cool shop. I'm beating myself up a bit for having never been here. I'm not sure why I hadn't, but I'm going to blame the storefront appearance. From the bland strip mall look, I had no idea how great the inside would be. Produce, meats, milk, soda, nuts, grain, cosmetics, and so forth and so on... they've got you covered. It's seriously the clown car of grocery stores. They also have a cafe with smoothies, salads, wraps, and sandwiches. Why stop there? They carry craft beer that you can carry home in one of their growlers. The cafe, while having a slightly confusing payment system, is top notch. I got a half salad that was way bigger that I expected. Everything was fresh and delicious. If I don't watch out, they might just make a hippy out of me. No, no they won't.

Went for the first time Saturday afternoon. The staff were very nice. The turkey Reuben was delicious. The vegan was decent. But the brisket was very fatty. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said 50% was fat. Uneatable!! The staff was nice about it. I'll go back. But BEWARE the brisket!!!

This has turned out to be Heike's favorite health food or natural or organic store since our arrival to Birmingham. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Heike is a big health food person, and would shop at Sprouts when she lived in Austin, Texas. I guess you could say this is a healthy alternative.

Great little store. Always try to stop when in the area. Their sandwich/juice bar doesn't have the friendliest service in my 3 experiences but the food is decent. The market itself has pretty much everything you need to eat clean and organic with lots of options for health conscience people. The employees are very friendly and the prices are fair for the high quality kind of meat and produce you'll find here. This town could use more stores like this.

I love to stop by and check out their sales. It is not often that I eat pre-packaged food and it is hard to find healthy pre-packaged gluten free food that tastes good but they have really great options. They always seem to have stuff other stores don't and some of the regular prices are better too.

If you care about filling your body with organic, non-GMO, amazing food then this is your mecca! It's one of the only places I have ever been able to find organic tumeric root and for those of you that don't understand the significance of this, it's a small victory for man kind. They have pre-prepared paleo and gluten free meals that they make in-house! And their cafe is amazing. I highly recommend the chicken salad and any smoothie they make (but it's not exactly cheap, a small price to pay for clean-eating, you don't have to make it yourself awesomeness) It's also one of the few places that has a juice bar in Birmingham. Go drink and eat up! Your body will thank you.

If you're tired of forking over cash at the big corporate "healthy" grocery stores, then take a look at Organic Harvest in Hoover. It's a local place, a bit smaller, but still well-stocked and well-staffed! They have a heavy paleo-food focus, and the cafe section has plenty of tasty paleo-approved options. Other perks are locally roasted Higher Grounds coffee and a selection of local beers on draft (buy a growler at the store or bring your own). The produce can occasionally be a bit "roughed up," but if you plan to eat it quickly and/or don't mind a couple bumps and bruises on your avocado or apple, then you're all set.

Whole foods is great and the farmer's market is awesome too, but what if you live in the hwy 31 corridor and it's not Saturday? Worry not, my omnivorously organic friends. Organic Harvest & Nutrition center is centrally located on Hwy 31 and can meet all of your organic grocery needs. The café is also a great place to get a healthy snack or meal fixed up for you. And they are a family owned store, which is pretty cool in itself. Go check it out!
