$17 got me a taco salad and a kids' chicken quesadilla. The worst part of the taco salad was that I had to pay $4 extra to add on meat...that's not something you'd ever have to do for a taco salad that is already $7 alone. You could literally get more meat and more filling in it for the same price at all the other Mexican restaurants on South College. It didn't help that the taco shell and chips were really cold and stale. They tasted what Taco Bell are like when left out overnight but this came straight from the kitchen. I really really want to like this place. Everything about it looked so energetic and fun--with multiple plasma screen TVs to watch several games, a delightful bar. However, this would be more of a hangout spot because the bar looks great, but the food fails miserably.

Unfortunately, we didn't even get a chance to try the food. My fiancée and I stopped into Tacorita around 3 pm on a Thursday to grab a quick bite. There was only 1 other table being occupied at the time, and what looked to be about 4 servers (not) working. Upon seating us, our server sat two menus in front of us and didn't say a word. After 10 minutes, she still had not come back to even take a drink order. She was too busy standing at the bar eating, talking, and checking her phone. On top of that, there are no decorations on the walls, which feels incredibly uninviting, and the food is overpriced. Terrible.

Maybe this is the best cinco de mayo! The food was so good! I had the brisket taco and street corn. My taste buds were delighted with the wonderful flavors. The brisket taco had crispy fried onions. Along with aioli and a horseradishy sauce, but the brisket was mouth wateringly wonderful! I'll dream of eating this again. The street corn was out of this world: fresh roasted corn served with the husk and had cheese and limes to squeeze. I totally enjoyed my foods. I hope to go back many times! The guacamole was the best! Auburn finally has a good but not ordinary Mexican themed restaurant in the heart of downtown. I'll look forward to eating there again.

I wanted to write a good review because my family actually really like the food, drinks and atmosphere. It was loud enough that kids blend right into the noise. But sadly their service was lacking, the waitresses were not on task. And still I wouldn't have complained except when we paid our bill, after she got her tip, our waitress rudely scolded my daughter and demanded that she replace a St. Patrick's Day balloon back on the window before she left the restaurant, a balloon she found on the floor. Here's $.25 for the balloon and one star review for your service, the food, three stars maybe, but we certainly won't be back.

  • Keith F.

A solid performance. I enjoyed the queso and chips and my taco. I absolutely destroyed the street corn in the cob. It was cooked and served just right. The next time I go back it is going to be me and 3 or 4 ears of that dish. If you are vegetarian they have some decent choices. The service was pretty good overall.

  • Laci G.

Great food! We had the chicken taquitos, street corn, corn chowder, and 3 different types of tacos. Everything was very fresh and flavorful! The cheesy chicken taco is very yummy, so is the carne asada! Loved it!

Delicious fresh ingredient tacos. Service was excellent a d helpful when we were uncertain about me u items. Will def be back.

When I'm in town we usually stop by and eat here. The menu has a variety of what I'd call "creative" tacos such as seared tuna with fried avocado and aioli on corn tortillas. They also have plenty of craft beers on tap with a $3 Monday night special. The food has always been tasty and the service has been good.

    (4)
  • Jenny K.

Tasty tacos and a great selection of margaritas. My absolute favorite thing I ate was the street corn, which came on the cob with an aioli, cojita cheese, and lime. I also tried the guacamole, queso, and the tuna taco. The most interesting thing about the taco was the fried avocado inside. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable and there are TVs throughout if you are interested in watching a game. Worth checking out to try some of the tacos and margaritas from their large selection.

Good place, good food, reasonable price...Good for lunch bits

  • Morgan M.

Ate lunch here for the first time with my sister and brother in law. Tacos were pretty good but I'd recommend not getting corn tortillas and sticking with the flour. Our waitress was easy to talk with and very friendly. I would return to eat here again but would only come during lunch since the pricing outside of the lunch specials would be way too expensive for what you get. Overall though, not too shabby.

Came today for lunch and brought a friend who has never been here. I've always loved it and they didn't disappoint. My friend loved it as I knew he would. Our server, Alec, was amazing! Attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. If you're in the area, stop by!

    (5)
  • Audrey A.

Wow. Such a disappointment. We ordered the steak quesadilla for $8.50, and it came with three thin triangles, no lettuce, sour cream, or tomato. She offered sour cream, then charged us for it. We got the chips and dip sampler for $8 which came w tiny cups of queso, guacamole, and salsa. The last two had NO TASTE. We got house margaritas which were okay, but nothing special. Best thing was the staff. And it was quick. Very friendly, but we will never go back. So over-priced with mediocre quality.

    (2)
  • Mary D.

Good food! But awful wait time. They've been open too long for it to still take this long to serve. Don't come if you're in a hurry.

    (3)
  • Damian W.

I come here 1-3 times a week, on average. The 2 taco lunch special is a good deal, and the margaritas are made with fresh fruit. Definitely worth it!!!!

    (5)
  • R. W.

The carne asada tacos are the best I've had. The tilapia taco was not very flavorful. The queso was better than your average Mexican joint. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely return!

  • Alyssa M.

I've been here twice, the second time was not my choice. When I see a price of $3.75 per taco, I'm expecting to be wowed. The taco that showed up in front of me was not what was described on the menu. It was supposed to have Mexican cojita cheese and crema. Instead it was a flour tortilla, crock-pot shredded chicken, iceburg lettuce and what tasted like jarred pace salsa. Lame. The chicken oozed about a 1/4 cup of liquid all over my plate. I've had soooo much better. The second time I knew better than to order food and just got a couple beers, thinking that couldn't be screwed up. NOPE. I had to ask for my beer twice and then the check twice as well. Judging from what my friends ordered and their reactions, nothing was spectacular. I tried the queso my friend ordered, and it was nothing to write home about, neither were the chips. Their food is straight from kroger, everything is overpriced, and the service is terrible. Will not be returning.

I really want to like this place. Unfortunately it misses every time. Having said that the best things they offer are the more simple ones- i.e. buffalo chicken taco, chips and queso, etc. I tend to stay away from the more expensive, complicated tacos. My one main complaint with this place- which I have mentioned to several people there (not the owner though)- is that they NEED to make their own flour tortillas. It would MAKE this place. This is a fun place with good margaritas but if I am buying tacos at a specialty taco bar, the tortillas better be scratch made- in house. I Hope they get this crucial aspect addressed. Right now the best tacos in town are in my home.

    (2)
  • Shanny B.

A variety of unique tacos to choose from. All made with very fresh and delicious ingredients. The fried fish taco is so good. I love the pablano tarter sauce. There aren't any decorations on the wall, so I feel kinda weird sitting there after I've finished my meal.

    (4)
  • Kayla F.

First of all, brisket taco. Soo good. I came here when it first opened, and I thought, ehhh.. It's just okay. It's gotten MUCH better. I'm really glad I came back. The queso and salsa serving sizes are bigger than when the place first opened. They're homemade margaritas are a must. The servers and bartenders are exceptionally friendly. I love going to Tacoritas. They're open late too!

    (4)
  • Rebecca C.

Went for dinner on a very busy night. I was surprised at how attentive the service was; got orders taken quickly, and my margarita arrived promptly. That's pretty much where the stars end. The descriptions on the menu make everything sound amazing, but it's actually very mediocre. Everything is really sweet- from the margarita to the salsa to the meats to the beans. There was no salt on the chips, nor was there any discernible salt on the food. The veggie tacos were very bland, and the meat taco and enchiladas just tasted like barbeque sauce. All this for exuberant prices. Also, the decoration is pretty awful. Plywood planks with varnish and blue paint.

    (2)
  • Neal C.

Had the southern fried chicken and brisket tacos. The tacos were excellent and creative. Really great flavors. The fried chicken taco consists of a flour tortilla, lettuce, sweet corn, two fried chicken tenders, and some ranch sauce. The brisket taco was beef brisket, thin fried onion rings and a thousand island (think Outback Bloomin onion with sauce), plus a little corn and lettuce. The brisket taco was my favorite-- really, really tasty. Service was fast and friendly. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because the prices for tacos are pretty high (3.50-5.00). You can go at lunch and do a 2 taco + beans + rice (or chips and salsa) for 8.00. It's not too bad, but still pretty high. Lots of margaritas as well.

    (4)
  • Scott L.

I took my wife here for lunch. $50 later for six tacos, guacamole dip, one fountain coke, and tip left me a little disappointed with such an expensive lunch. The ingredients are fresh, but I would say it's not very original. Tortillas and veggies are the same as you buy from Kroger. If Tacqueria Del Sol in Decatur/Atlanta can sell tacos for $2.75 and are twice as good, yours should not be $3.75, but half the price of theirs. I'm glad this place is here, but it's way too expensive for what they are offering.

    (2)
  • Jennifer G.

Those who write middle of the road reviews should not give 1 star! We went last Friday and I was very happy! I miss taqueria del sol and was very happy to see something similar in Auburn. auburn. The food was great and service was not slow. Two adults 1 kid was 28 plus tip. Two adults should not eat 6 tacos! We split 3 and had chips and salsa and a 'Rita and a coke. I will def go back, the food is fresh and you can tell, but here are the kinks they need to fix... Menu prices and bill don't match, no pattern, one taco was more, one less, 25-50 cents or so. They shouldn't do this as a sit down, but like other taqueria's and have you order at the counter and bring it to you.

    (4)
  • Jim O.

Nice staff, great location, and decent tacos. I was expecting more for 14 dollars for two tacos. They were tasty, but still missed the mark. Fish tacos needed some spicy slaw instead of iceberg lettuce. Also the cold flour tortillas flat on the plate looked like something I could do at home. Make them bigger and research ways to make a better appearing meal. Waitress was really nice and helpful. They are on the right track with the fish tacos. Dont give up!

    (3)
  • Brock P.

The lunch specials are pretty good. The best taco IMO is the Southern Fried Chicken. I love that one! Great jalapeño ranch sauce! I don't like the salsa, though. Too watery.

    (4)
  • Rachel R.

The Cuban sand which was extremely filling and yummy, the delicate meat flavors combined with the wickles pickles and crusty bread made a great combination!

If Tacqueria Del Sol in Decatur/Atlanta can sell tacos for $2.75 and are twice as good, yours should not be $3.75, but half the price of theirs. I'm glad this place is here, but it's way too expensive for what they are offering.

The lunch specials are pretty good. The best taco IMO is the Southern Fried Chicken. I love that one! Great jalapeño ranch sauce! I don't like the salsa, though. Too watery.

The Cuban sand which was extremely filling and yummy, the delicate meat flavors combined with the wickles pickles and crusty bread made a great combination!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
