I checked this place on Yelp before I went there and was pretty excited about the reviews. I went there for dinner and was living in Seward for quite a while due to work, so I had been to a few different places. All day I had been craving broccoli beef. When I ordered it to go, the guy said "we should have that ready in about five minutes." "Oh shit," I said to myself. There's no way you can make broccoli beef ( or anything for that matter) in five minutes. When I opened my to go package it was very apparent that they had simply served me the left over food from their buffet lunch. On top of that, it was the most plain, unseasoned, unflavored, un-Chinese food I have ever had. It was worse than Safeway deli chinese food. I was severely disappointed and only finished eating it because I was exhausted from a long day of work. The one nice thing was that the waiter was genuinely nice, funny and enjoyable. Unfortunately I would not go their again. The food is expensive (as is most food in seward) for what you get and it is clearly not made for quality, but for quantity.

If you are ever in the area and want some entertainment, this is the place. Good is okay, nothing special, but the entertainment from the server. Q, deserves 5 stars! Like everyone says, he does magic tricks, origami, and leads customers in brain exercises. He had us in tears! Definitely the most memorable server ever. Don't forget Q-tips! Get it? Q-tips?! Lol

Food is good, totally worth the price. The waiter made a great effort to entertain customers with smart tricks. Right place to go if you are not expecting fancy expensive food.

We stopped at Oriental Garden for their buffet lunch and were happy with all the choices they had. They even had sushi and kimchi! Well, unfortunately in the middle of lunch, my roommate called and told me that our place was broken into and my laptop was stolen. Our server (the one the other two reviewers talked about), overheard my conversation and was incredibly kind! He made me a paper crane for good luck and gave me lunch on the house because I was just devastated (even my hard drive was stolen). His kindness made my day and was the bright spot in an otherwise horrible situation. We went back the next day because we really wanted to enjoy the food, and also thank him for the kindness he showed me. What a great guy! Yes he did magic tricks (seriously, the dice trick was crazy) and gave us a book of answers to flip through during our meal. This was certainly an entertaining and delicious stop! I hope more people check out Oriental Garden, locals and tourists alike, because the service there is certainly top notch!

Jeez, crab rangoons always get me, so do chinese donuts. Uh, yes they are korean......uh yes they have kimchi. Nothing like good dirty chinese food from a good dirty chinese restaurant!

This place is awesome! Our waiter was the most entertaining waiter I have ever met. He made us origami! Prices on food were reasonable and the food was really good. We loved the orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken and the crab rangoon.

Amazing!!! The folks there are so nice and my dad said it was probably the best fried rice he's ever eaten. Coming from him that's a huge compliment since he eats a lot of Chinese food. We came from California to take the celebrity Alaska cruise. I would definitely recommend eating here while in town!

The service is absolutely amazing. The cook and the host are brothers and they work well together and get your food out asap. Its delicious and the combo meals and family meals are delicious and huge. The host will do a number of tricks. From some magic tricks, talking and teaching you different languages, the book of answer, and my favorite making you a host of different origamis - like rabbits, turtles, spaceships, and so much more.

The food was very tasty, but this place is a MUST visit for the very special service by "Q"! He performed magic tricks, made origami, showed us "The Book of Answers", as well as quite a few other tricks! A lot of fun and great service! Definitely come here when visiting Seward!

Everything was just average. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce, and the shrimp definitely had a funny taste, like the were frozen and not fresh. Would definitely not recommend as a place to eat in seward. The only saving grace about this place is the host, who is at least very nice and funny, but still can't make up for the lack of quality food.

You're in a little town in Alaska and you're contemplating getting Chinese food at this place called Oriental Garden. Yes, it feels odd, and you probably feel like you should be getting some sort of fish and chip fare or maybe something that starts with 'salmon bake', but you will not regret eating here! We ate two dinners in a row here because it was so good and the price is RIGHT! You can get the 'dinner for two' option and split it among three people and fill each person up easily! The portions are good, and the food tastes great! MSG or not, I don't regret it! Q is a charming dude and makes the visit Q-uite memorable! enjoy.

Dinner was a supremely satisfying experience at Oriental Garden. I had the hot and sour soup and the garlic tofu with vegetables. The food was great. But the highlight of the evening was the service. Q (the owner) treated us to some great magic tricks and humorous conversation making the whole dinner experience entertaining and enjoyable. If you're in the neighborhood I would strongly recommend this place. If you meet Q, don't forget to ask him to show you some of his tricks.

Awesome service and decent food. The server everyone mentioned in their previous review also served us today. He is friendly and funny, and dinner with a show is awesome. The food is pretty typical Chinese-American style food (ex. sweet n sour pork), but their menu also has Japanese, kimchee (Korean), and American fare. They appear to be open relatively late (at least 9:30 maybe 10pm), so a good choice if you're having a late dinner.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
