Delicious and fresh! My curiosity got the best of me and I had to have a sourdough ricotta pancake and I was glad I did. My husband and I split one. Good thing we were hiking all morning so we were really hungry because the servings are huge! My main dish was the cheddar bacon chicken burger (no actual burger) with waffle fries. Very good!! My husband said the biscuits and gravy was great too.

Heard raves about this place from many locals in Juneau so had to check it out. Went a little late for breakfast around 10am but only had a 5 minute wait. Host and servers were real nice and friendly. Ordered the crab benedict, the corned beef hash and a denver omelet. Everything was very good and the prices reasonable by Juneau standards. The omelet was cooked perfectly, the ham and cheese nice and tasty. Hash browns crispy. Tip: instead of toast we had biscuits, which are made here. They were real good. Nothing to complain about here - we'll probably come back tomorrow.

The food here is good. I'd give it 4.5 stars. It is pricey, but you get a lot of food for the cost. The portions are large enough for 2-3 meals if you can contain your gluttony for how delicious it is. The service, though, is what drops my rating from a 5 to a 3. It just downright sucks. There have been times I have had a good experience with the service, but 80% of the time it's a giant turd sandwich. What you can expect when you walk in is someone to let you know they'll be right with you, then disappear for 10 minutes. Eventually people will continue to file in, and the small waiting area will become very crowded. You'll look around and see plenty of tables available and set, and wonder how come the hoard that is now clogging the waiting area and breeze way hasn't been sat yet. Eventually someone will come to the podium, and begin seating people. It doesn't matter if you're there first or last, because the waiting area is so packed, whoever is right in front of the podium is seated first. Table service is 50/50. Sometimes you'll get good service, other times they'll forget to fill your drinks, bring the check, or there will be confusion about which table they are waiting on. I imagine the only reason the place is still in business is because the food is some of the best in Juneau.

FIVE STARS for breakfast! Casual local place, neat, clean, bright and inviting. Friendly staff. But here's the real reason for going to Sandpiper: Go for the food. I challenge anyone to find another restaurant in this class to provide a better breakfast! Scratch made food that will not disappoint. We were a group of 7 people and almost all of us had something different. So I could see and taste a variety of what their kitchen produces. AAAAA+++++ I will never forget their pancakes. We didn't go back for lunch, but wish that we did. I bet their lunch offerings are just as delicious. Instead we paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars at Tracy's Crab Shack. Go to Sandpiper Cafe and be happy.

My corn beef hash was perfectly crispy, lean and not greasy. There was no room for improvement. My rye toast was buttered - why ? Place the butter on the side or have server ask - would you like your toast buttered? Its ridiculous, why not put ketchup on my eggs, salt my cantaloupe or cream and sugar my coffee without my request. Brad's chicken fried steak was not fresh, breading was not crisp; this was obviously thawed and heated. The gravy was good. The potatoes were delicious and the bread is very fresh. They buttered his toast without asking. The service was affected mostly because they are understaffed. Our waitress, dark hair, did not come through with a side of fresh fruit for Brad's order. I wanted a side of French Toast and that could not be done. Guests that were seated after us were served food and finished their meal, left the restaurant before we had our order taken. Our waitress apologized and gave us a 10% discount. I rather have better service and will check out other restaurants first before returning.

Service sucks, but the food is good. It used to be my fav breakfast place in Juneau. Staff changes a lot and our waiter NEVER came back to see if we wanted more coffee.

You know it's going to be good when you can't decide what to order. We got the quinche and the French toast. The quinche said side of Yukon gold potatoes and fresh fruit. We weren't expecting a whole potato chopped and cooked to perfection in a griddle but that's what we got. Even better was the fruit- a whole banana, a whole apple, a half cup blueberries, and a couple satsumas all displayed beautifully. The French toast was moist and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The waitress was so friendly. You hardly ever find a restaurant that looks nice and serves nice food. This place was beautifully decorated and the food was absolutely delicious. We'll be back!

Yummy! Had the vegan pecan waffles and added some bananas and blueberries. The husband had steak and eggs. Really loved that the place was clean and modern. It was very warm in the restaurant (summer 2015).

  • Sondra W.

Cute place! Quality food, nice decor. I had the two eggs with yukon gold potatoes and bacon. The potatoes were nice and crusted, cooked with green onions. The bacon was perfectly crispy. The eggs were not too runny or dry. They had green tea, gluten free toast and dijon mustard. And served with a bit of melon. What more could i want? Class act!

  • Gregory A.

Came in for breakfast again, decided to try the cheese and mushroom omelet, grilled Yukon potatoes with green onions, rye brad and bacon. You can't get perfection every time. This place is so good, however a little seasoning on the mushrooms and in the eggs, would go along way and make this meal amazing. Season the mushrooms before you cook them and you guys have nailed it!!

Was just here for breakfast and lunch with a customer. Overall the food was a solid 4, but I deducted a point for service. Simply abysmal during both times. Had to flag someone down to refill all my beverages at both meals. Food was great, waffle fries were fantastic, salsa for the breakfast burrito was great. Seriously though. Service? Tempted to not come back here again.

  • Ileana M.

Lazy chef, greasy omelet, hair in my hash brown and no one even apologized. Came here with high expectations since it had such good reviews, but all we got was a waitress and bus boy who really didn't want to be there. Overall, bad food and horrible service. Not coming back.

SUPER crowded on a Sunday morning, which I guess was a good sign. Lots of vegetarian options with fresh veggies, so this place was a win in my book the moment I glanced at the menu. They even offered a tofu scramble! I wound up ordering a veggie omelet, and it was darn tasty--the vegetables tasted fresh, and the accompanying pile of Yukon Gold potatoes were a nice accompaniment. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict on a biscuit instead of an English muffin, and I thought it was nice that they let her do that at no additional charge. I snagged a bite of the Hollandaise sauce, and it was so flavorful. There was a caramel latte French toast on the specials menu, and I regret not ordering it--it was being served to a woman on our way out, and the mound of fresh whipped cream on top made me hungry all over again. Great coffee, too!

I usually have breakfast here. It's a terrific place for it or for brunch. The food is excellent.

Always good food and hard to go bad with anything. My favorite is the chicken fried steak. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

  • Mark L.

Hit or miss. Half the time I would call the place and they'd never answer the phone. But this service is typical in Juneau. Food is good, though.

  • Seth S.

Sandpiper cafe is a busy, cute little place. I had the vanilla cinnamon French toast combo with eggs, bacon, and side of crispy hash... Everything about my breakfast was perfect!! My friend got the Reuben with waffle fries, and same.. so good!! They are busy with maybe a little less staff than they should have, but they mean well and try their best. Definitely worth your time!!

    (4)
  • Ricky L.

Really great food. Best breakfast place in Juneau. Wish they have longer hours. It is slightly pricey, but the food is definitely worth your money.

  • Mark R.

I tried Sandpiper twice for breakfast this week and I'm not seeing what all the fuss is about. The eggs benny on the first day was good but certainly not anything out of the ordinary and the ham and tomato omelet I tried this morning was pretty average. Overall I would say the place is over-priced for what you get - breakfast both days (including a cappuccino) topped $20 before the tip.

  • Angela S.

I really wanted to like this place. The inside was surprisingly (from the looks of the outside) clean and newish looking. There were tons of menu items to choose from along with the giant specials board. I ordered the smoked salmon omelet with roasted potatoes, and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. Everything looked delicious when it came out, but my potatoes were not seasoned at all, and one of my husband's biscuits was cold. The omelet was ok, but it was really hard to get a bite with everything in it...the salmon and other innards were very compartmentalized...is that the way an omelet is supposed to be? I guess I'm more used to being able to cut into an omelet and get a mixture of the inside goodness in most bites. Anyway, our service was ok, but this place was way too expensive for what we got. There was definitely plenty of food, but everything was pretty unimpressive, especially for the price.

Popped in for a lunch just before 2. Got an excellent blue cheese bacon burger, patty was massive (was overcooked for my liking but still very tasty and blue cheese amount was perfect as to not overpower the whole burger. Friends had french toast were impressed. Service was pleasant and not overbearing. The fitout was also very comfortable but still quite classy. Overall its just a great place for breakfast / lunch and undoubtedly I will return before I leave Juneau.

    (5)
  • Doug M.

The food looked excellent and the wait staff were exceptionally nice. If you eat meat you will find plenty here to clog your arteries. On the other hand if you're Vegan like myself you will walk away hungry to say the least. I found it odd I was charged $13.00 for vegetables(hot tomatoes, micro mushrooms and black olives on a leaf of romaine) sandwiched between two micro pieces of gluten free bread but only charged me 2.95 for the side salad which had 5 times the salad. Essentially, with tip I paid $20 for a $6.00 Burgerking sized salad. ***THIS IS NOT A VEGAN FRIENDLY RESTAURANT***

  • Nomi D.

I though I would give this place a try after seeing the good reviews and biking past it everyday, and got a to-go order. Ridiculous. First off, the inside is super cute, way better then what you would expect from the outside. I ordered the cinnamon vanilla French toast. When I got home, it was great to see that they lived the container with foil AND parchment paper. The butter was melted, the maple syrup was real, the French toast was crunchy and gooey, perfect, looking forward to eating in soon.

We were served by a friendly young lady - Amy. She was very charming and sweet. We loved the yummy quiche and fruit. The artwork of fruit was one of the best I have seen ...

Great breakfast place when in Juneau. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and most important... the coffee was great!

  • Cata F.

Best French toast in the world!!!! Good service great variety. Gluten free option. Can get extremely busy so make a reservation or get there with time to spare. There portions are large and every single entree has been more than satisfying. The atmosphere and quality makes this job absolutely worth trying. It's definitely one of Juneau top 3 places to eat.

    (5)
  • Maria B.

I enjoy this place. Good food, great soups! I would eat there more often if I could. My favorites are the Hot meatloaf sandwiches, salads with the the chile lime dressing, basic breakfast but, depending what the soup special looks like, it can trump all the others! How can I forget the French toast! So good!

    (4)
  • Dustin R.

Top notch breakfast. Vegetables, eggs, and salmon were very fresh. Coffee was great as well. The service was very slow when I got in at 830, but the place was packed. Atmosphere is very nice and clean. Very wide variety of meals to choose from.

  • Julie D.

I don't know how many tourists come here -- it definitely seemed like a place Juneau locals frequent, for good reason. We managed to beat the rush, which was lucky as there was a substantial line to get in when we left. Portions are HUGE, all is made fresh. Service was good. So many menu choices that it was hard to decide. Had our schedule allowed it, we would have come back again during our trip. Wish they were open all day. Great atmosphere on the inside -- would never know it from the outside.

  • Julianna M.

Pretty good food. Eggs were perfect, sausage was tasty and not over cooked. The eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly, but the flavor was a little bit bland. Needed more lemon and a touch of cayenne. Toast was an experience all on its own. The large chunks of potatoes were really tasty, but somewhat dry and way too big. But some people like their potatoes that way. Ketchup fixes the dryness. So next time we will only get hash browns because they were perfectly done, with loads of flavor. The biscuits were a little dry and tough but they had a nice buttery flavor. But that fantastic tasting(obviously from scratch) gravy, really made them worth it. Omelets were brilliant! Lots of vegetables. They were over cooked( vegetables should never be cooked until soggy) but very well seasoned. Someone is on the right track there.

  • Jeff B.

Smoked ham and Roma tomato omelet - absolutely delicious! The two 2 egg withe potato and toast was done to perfection also. Also to it a great - not too dark not too light coffee and you have a great breakfast. The outside of the building doesn't look like much but inside is warm and friendly. We'll be here tomorrow to try more. Day 2 - Denver omelet - delicious. Hash browns are good but go for the Yukon potatoes. Day 3 - mushroom and cheese - delicious. Blueberry pancakes - huge and great texture and flavor

  • Kimberly S.

Best breakfast in Juneau of the two mornings I was here. I ordered the Griddle combo with the Belgian waffle and eggs. Waffle was dry - had to get yogurt (extra $3.99) to try wash it down. But the house made sausage was flavorful and the Grade B maple syrup was rich and thick. Poached eggs were nice and medium-done. Would definitely return.

if your looking for a a great breakfast in downtown Juneau, this is the place. For me though, the real draw is lunch and their ruben sandwich. its a monster and the pastrami is substantial. great sandwich.

Very good quality, cute restaurant within walking distance from the cruise ship port. A bit expensive, but then maybe that's par for the course with dining out in Alaska?

Awesome game burgers and best breakfast in Juneau

  • Billy F.

They're brunch is phenomenal. They have an awesome selection featuring a wide variety of soups, sandwiches and classic breakfast options. The food is a little pricey for breakfast/lunch but well worth it. I particularly recommend either the Corn Beef Dip or the Eggs Benedict. In addition to any of the specials. Can't wait to go back.

Our first place to eat in Juneau and it was a home run! The food was excellent. Tiffany was our waitress, she was extremely nice, patient and attentive. The chef and his or her staff prepared an outstanding breakfast with excellent presentation, but more importantly terrific flavors.

  • Daniel M.

Sandpiper has the best breakfast in Juneau. Their eggs Benedict with smoked salmon is especially good. The service was quick and friendly, too.

    (4)
  • G M.

We had the Mandarin orange French toast & the eggs Benedict. The Benedict were cooked well (the yolks were nice & runny) but the sauce was baked on. Not bad but not great. The French toast was ok but the addition of the Mandarin oranges made it better.

LUV everything about this place! Its a family affair every Saturday, bagel and lox w/potatoes & french toast sampler

    (4)
  • Caroline P.

Awesome, delicious food in a cute atmosphere. Thanks Sandpiper for reminding me I need more waffle fries in my life. The elk burger was perfectly cooked and tasted especially amazing. Portions were generous; cappuchino = great! Service was slow because it was busy so it took a while to get a seat and order but food arrived quickly after that.

  • Mike T.

This was the first restaurant my wife and I went to upon moving to Juneau, and what great introduction. Both the wild game burgers for lunch and omelets for breakfast have been awesome. Portions are decent, without being too excessive, and the ingredients have always been top-notch. We have yet to have a bad experience here. Now if only the rest of the restaurants in town could follow this example...

    (5)
  • Thomas C.

Food might be good not as good and well portioned as others have testified but definitely as costly per quality but MY experience here with the service and attitude was so astonishingly vapid and apathetic that I certainly will not come back for any reason.

  • Rudy T.

Looks a little like a dive diner from the outside but is very nice and a little pricier than I expected. $14 for corned beef hash and eggs. This is going to sound odd but the food was almost too high end. corned beef hash should not be elegant! But it was! Excellent service! Would recommend!

    (4)
  • J S.

THE place for breakfast and lunch. Looks much nicer on the inside than the outside. Good food. Several vegetarian options. Veggie omelet and french toast combo plate were really good.

  • Harry P.

Outstanding restaurant for lunch and breakfast. Closed for dinner. Lots of locals and inconvenient for 5000 of your new best cruise friends. Fresh food well prepared and good service. I had meatloaf sandwich on chibatta which included a slice of cheddar, sun dried tomatoes, red onion , lettuce. Loaf was flavorable but not fatty. Included choice of waffle fries, fresh salad, homemade soup or rice pilaf. Wife had pastrami on homemade rye, soup and the pastrami was cut thicker than usual. Great! Can be a line at b'fast depending on time of morning. Serving 6 am to 2 pm.

Best breakfast in Juneau. I have only had lunch there once. Their breakfast burritos and scrambles are always great! Also their ever changing varieties of french toast, ect... are good. If you're in a hurry-this might not be the best choice, sometimes a long wait.

  • Sheri M.

The Sandpiper is without a doubt the best breakfast spot in town! I lived in Juneau for a year and a half and I think this is the restaurant I ate at most. Their french toast is killer. And if I was hungry enough, I'd order their Italian sausage omelet. It is huge and super delicious. Not to mention it's served with a mountain of breakfast potatoes. Their coffee is good and plentiful, always a plus! They make an awesome hamburger too, served with a mountain of waffle fries. One thing that irked me is that they put mayo on their burgers by default but don't mention this on the menu. After I learned this I would request no mayo and sometimes they would put it on anyway. I know a person in Juneau who is deathly allergic to eggs so that's not cool. Overall the service is top notch. The only server I wasn't particularly fond of was the rather sarcastic guy with the ponytail. If you head to the Sandpiper on the weekend expect a wait. That's just how it is. This isn't particularly fun when it's cold and snowy outside, but it's worth the wait. Just remember there's a very tasty meal in your near future!

This café is cooking some seriously awesome cuisine. "Café" is misleading as this would be any foodies favorite for any meal. they are cooking with love here. I was recently in Juneau on business and we went in for breakfast. I have the special which was Brussels Sprout, Asparagus, potatoes, red onion and cabbage hash topped with Swiss cheese and roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes. I can't stop thinking about it so I just called and the manager Peter was kind enough to share the recipe and walk me through it. My partner in this meal had the eggs benedict and said she wanted to weep it was so good. I was so focused on my meal I cannot remember the details of hers but she said it was the most creative and best eggs benedict she had ever had. Do yourself a favor and go have a meal here. I adore a restaurant that cooks with love.

  • Melissa W.

Visited on a Sunday morning with two others. Was very busy. The hostess took a little bit to arrive but promptly seated us at a table across from the kitchen. The menu offered a nice selection of options and the food was delicious but slow. The service wasn't anything special, in fact our server never came back until I asked for the check and then she gave us the wrong receipt. On the way out I was waiting at the hostess stand and the same hostess tried to seat me again. The guy was super awkward.

  • Juliet R.

Great recommendation by locals. Real bacon and scrambled eggs not poured from carton. But the Yukon potatoes and honey wheat pancake were even better. Enough food for two people.

    (5)
  • Melzie C.

For Juneau, Sandpiper provides one of the only cafe brunch spots in town. It is also has some of the more interesting local foods to try, should you wish, such as Elk. The food is well presented, but I often wasn't that pleased with the overall food itself. The mandarin orange and ricotta french toast was way too heavy/gooey for my taste, the fresh fruit plate was mainly frozen/canned fruit etc, but - it's a nice atmosphere and if I was in Juneau again, I'd be back. Expect the prices to be more like a major US city.

  • Mike T.

This is the first place we came after moving to Juneau, and wow, what a great surprise. The breakfast was phenomenal. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and I'd definitely recommend the scrambles. My wife and I are hooked. In a town with a lot of meh-to-really bad restaurants, this is a gem!

This little cafe is really as great as reviewers say it is. It is a little removed from the shopping area of downtown, but when the cruise ships are in port, the quiet location is a good thing. I enjoyed the patty melt with was prepared with your choice of cheddar, Swiss or provolone cheese. The bread was flavorful rye and the amount of grilled onions between the lean beef and cheese was perfect. The sandwich is served with a choice of soup, salad or fries. Nice to have a healthy option. My partner had the Caesar salad with chicken, and he was very pleased with both the quality and quantity of the grilled chicken breast on the fresh romaine. The restaurant is small, but nicely laid out so that's is doesn't feel crowded. Our waitress was as friendly and polite as I could ever imagine. All in all, this place is a real winner!

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner in Juneau! For breakfast anyway. After noticing that Sandpiper Cafe was beginning to get a following on Yelp I had to rush over there and see what the raving was about. I've driven by the place a few times before and it never really stood out or looked like an appealing place to try out. When I finally entered the place I felt like I was transported into a different world - it looked nothing like it did outside! Clean lines, cool, crisp colors, and tall ceilings made the dining area bright, comfortable and refreshing. The food here, as much as the atmosphere, scores on presentation. I had two of their breakfast menu items (italian sausage omelet and corned beef hash) for lunch and both were flavorful and satisfying. And the prices weren't too bad across the board. Compared to other joints in town that dish up similar fare, you'll get the most out of your dollar here in both quantity and quality. I will definitely be back here to try more of their breakfast items as well as lunch items. I wish they had longer hours! Oh, and service was two thumbs up. They also have fast, free wireless internet. It doesn't get any better than this. This is another lesson on why I shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Awesome specialty burgers featuring game not offered elsewhere in Juneau. Burger selection changes, but they have featured Buffalo, elk, antelope, venison, boar, ostrich, emu, crocodile, and kobe. If you get the burger they have Waffle fries as a side. Great burgers, GREAT waffle fries. You will usually have to wait for a table, especially during the lunch hour. Had I rated this restaurant last year it would have been a 4 no problem, but I have been unimpressed with the food lately.

Outstanding! We ate here as a group not quite knowing what to expect, and all I can say is that I wish we had discovered it sooner. The food was great and the portions were big. A+

I do not get what the hype is all about. The place is overpriced, the food is okay, nothing spectacular. atmosphere is great, service is a bit slow.

  • Jenna L.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Sandpiper Cafe. It's definitely one of Juneau's hidden treasures! A word of warning: the lines get VERY long on the weekends, but it is well worth the wait. The staff is friendly, the coffee is great, and the food is amazing. Their selection is wonderful, and they use lots of local ingredients (salmon, halibut, and crab being the most obvious, as well as blueberries and sourdough), which impresses me quite a bit. The portions are generous, and the presentation is gorgeous. I suggest the sourdough pancakes or the mascarpone stuffed French toast with oranges! Everything is amazing, but these two have really stuck out!

  • Kimi N.

My Juneau friends warned me that there wasn't very much good food in Juneau, but Sandpiper Cafe was our first stop and I was impressed. I got this breakfast combo that was 2 eggs, choice of sausage links or patty, and choice of pancakes or french toast. I was able to sub in the vegan french toast and got the sausage links. The food came out fast even though we were a party of 6. The eggs were fresh and delicious and the links were tasty. My bf got the sausage patty which was this huge burger-like patty of sizzling sausage and if I ever go back to Juneau I will definitely order the patty instead. The links were fine, but man, that patty was legit - flavorful, a little crunch, yummy. The vegan french toast was not that impressive - it tasted a little too "healthy" with not enough sugar/crunch/flavor/something to make it distinct. It was a little soggy. All in all I was really pleased with my meal, what a great opening to Juneau food.

  • Laura F.

This restaurant consistently delivers a great performance on three important fronts: food quality, service and atmosphere. It is a favorite with the locals for good reason. My favorite lunch menu item is the soup and sandwich special: it's one of the best values in town, and the variety of soups that the chef creates means you get lots of pleasant surprises! A great danger at this place is the scrumptious cornbread.

    (5)
  • Diana N.

Had to wait 5-10 minutes to get in for lunch, which is a rare thing to have to do in Juneau. Given that, I guess I had high expectations but there's nothing overly special about the food here. It had typical diner type menu and the food was good, even though over priced (like most other places in Juneau). The tables are packed pretty close to each other so don't expect much privacy.

    (3)
  • Lesley D.

If you are looking for breakfast in Juneau, look no further! This place has some of the best toast! I realize toast is a weird thing to care about, but when its right its right, and this place knows what they are doing! All of the locals recommended the french toast here, but I went for a veggie omelet. You can pick between hash browns or red potatoes, and I went with the hash browns which were crispy perfection. Pros: Great bread Perfectly crispy hash browns Good coffee Tapatio Cons: None

Really pleasant place for breakfast. The atmosphere is bright and homey, and the service was friendly and efficient. I really appreciated that they have vegan options (including french toast!) and my wife enjoyed her benny very much.

  • Pamm H.

We had the smoked salmon omelette and the ham and roma tomato omelette. Both were fantastic. The "red potatoes" were yellow instead but just as good. Super busy place packed with locals which is how you know it's good!

Delicious pancakes; we tried a few places in town but this was the BEST in Juneau! They accommodated my wishes for banana blueberry pancakes, mmmmm mmmm yummy! All seven of us loved our meals! Friendly service, nice view of the mountains and fabulous breakfast.

I came off of the airplane after traveling for 19 hours and went straight to the Sandpiper. Best breakfast in Juneau!! The omlettes and hashbrowns are to die for. Reasonable prices and great service too.

I've eaten at the Sandpiper several times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Juneau. Our most recent visit was on Sunday for Father's Day. I got to decide so I picked The Sandpiper. I figured since it was Father's Day there would be a big wait and if so we were going to go somewhere else, but we got a table within 15 minutes. The best thing about The Sandpiper is they have no problems serving you anything off the lunch menu, no matter how early it is. I do enjoy their breakfast menu, but I really enjoy their specialty burgers and sandwiches. Hands down, the Sandpiper has the best Reuben in town, and that's what I ordered. The beef is tender, the crout is not soggy, and then sandwich is huge. Yum! I also recommend the Kobe beef burger if your stomach is completely empty and needs to be topped off with delicious tender choice Kobe beef. I still have yet to try the Ostrich & Elk burgers, but I imagine I'll be back many times again. Oh yeah, ask to sit in Tara's section. She's a Hoot. And remember the restaurant is only open to just after lunch.

This was a great place to eat. We had the sourdough pancakes with sausage and hash brows and the french toast with sausage. The only reason there was food left was because we were too full to finish. Everything was done perfectly. The hint of ricotta cheese in my sourdough pancakes was just amazing. The sausages were bigger than you usually get from restaurants and there were 3 links. Awsome! The staff seemed a bit cold, but i will say that they were busy and by the time we left there were people waiting at the door. Can't wait to go back for more goodness.

I'm always nervous about going out for brunch because I'm vegan, and I was psyched to find all sorts of vegetarian options. They even have vegan french toast!! The food was delicious!!! Everything tasted and looked fresh, and there was a ton of food on every plate I saw. Please please eat here. There is usually a bit of a wait, but it's worth it.

Not expecting much from Alaskan restaurants I was pleasantly surprised. My son, stationed in Juneau for the last 3 months brought us for breakfast. Great food (try the French toast) served in a pleasant relaxed manner at a reasonable price. I find it no surprise that 9 of 10 reviews are 5 stars. Go for it!

Best place to eat in Juneau? You betcha! Everything is fresh and delicious. I never sampled the lunch items but they all looked good too. I recommend checking out the specials menu as there are unique items to try. I had a scramble with elk, huckleberry Pinot Noir sausage. Too good. Don't miss this place if you are in town.

Sandpiper Cafe does serve pretty good food, coming here a few times for Sunday brunch. Service may be slow.

A little off the beaten path to find, but well worth it. We went here for breakfast on one of our days off and WOW. This place is truly amazing. The food is top notch and priced decently. Service is spectacular and definitely a fun place for a group of your friends. Be forewarned, the portions are huge and you need a hearty appetite to finish it all.

I love the coffee here! I ordered cinnomon and vanilla french toast that was delicious. I noticed that they had osterich burgers, elk burgers, and bison burgers on special when I was there. I didn't notice that until after I ordered my french toast otherwise I wouldn't tried one of those unique varieties of burgers. I'm impressed with the variety of menu, the service, and the atmospere here.

Best breakfast in Juneau! On weekends you might have to stand in line for a while and if you have 5 or more people call ahead but always worth the wait. Love trying what ever they have on the special board and their lunches are great too!

one of the best breakfast places in Juneau. Great service, and the biscuits and gravy are killer. My wife loves the french toast served with Mascarpone cheese and an assortment of fruit. They never let your coffee cup go dry and the prices don't go much above 10-15, on the high end. They have daily papers for the viewing and the staff don't bug you, unless you want them to. Anytime I am back in Juneau visiting, I will eat there at least one or two times.

My mom and I just returned from an Alaska cruise and Juneau was our disembarkation point. The morning before we headed for the airport we walked to the Sandpiper Cafe for breakfast, and it was awesome! She had the Mandarin Orange and Marscapone French toast and it was so good! Hers came out before mine and I made the mistake of trying a bite and she almost didn't get the plate back! I ordered the Fruit and Walnut pancakes with bananas and it was also awesome. No syrup needed, just some butter...so good. The waitress was great and very personable and we were out of there in 45 minutes! You could tell it was where the locals went, which is usually a sign you've found a good one! Great place...not much to look at from the outside, but I highly recommend it.

We had a group of five people at about 1pm. They suggested we get take-out because the waiting time for a table that suits five would be a long wait. The food was great!

Do not be fooled by the sketchy outside! A local recommended this place to us, and we were pleased that it was right next to our hotel. It seemed to be a local haunt (noted by their Xtratuffs) with the occasional tourist. I had the smoked salmon omelet, and my husband had the quiche of the day - bacon and swiss. The hashbrowns were crisp, the salmon was so delicious and smoky, and the marscapone cheese was so creamy. My husband was very happy with his fresh fruit salad that came with his quiche. Good coffee too!!

The best breakfast in town! Breakfast kicked up a notch and not just the standard. Wonderful weekend specials and great coffee, strong. Always good service and good atmosphere.

I was so happy to come home back in December, and to go somewhere that actually had VEGAN options on their menu. The food was spot on, service was great, and I love the atmosphere. I'm excited to go back!
