Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

This is our favorite place for pizza in Juneau and I have lived here 8 years! Great deal on lunch special... 2 slices and a beverage. Also favorite salad if you are into greens with a fantastic vinegrette dressing. This place is owned by the same folks that run THE HANGER & TWISTED FISH. Besides pizza and salad, they have KILLER MEATBALLS and their stuffed shrooms and eggplant parm are good too, the place is reatively small and the only place for a large Gp is upstairs where it can get really hot. But all in all it isn't favorite place in Juneau for pizza!

Food poisoning, contaminated pizza, harsh raw garlic, loud environment, and terrible service! The place was very loud early on a Friday evening, even after the band of kids left the upstairs area. Server was initially very friendly. Garlic focaccia arrived and was molten hot but we had no plates or flatware. We waited for the server and a few minutes later she finally brought us what we needed. Unfortunately one of the plates was filthy and we sent it back. She was abrupt about it and when she returned with a new plate a few minutes later (while the food was getting cold) she said, "Sorry, it's dark back there." The garlic was RAW not roasted and the appetizer was smothered in what appeared to be fake cheese that hardened almost instantly out of the oven. The marinara was fresh but again loaded with raw garlic and was harsh. The primavera pizza with canadian bacon we ordered tasted OK on the first bite then suffered from the same bad cheese thereafter and they were incredibly stingy with the marinara and toppings. If they just added more fresh vegetables like zuccini, this would be a real vegetable pizza and might have had a fresh flavor to it. The crust was more like an undercooked cracker and it was far too blond and tasteless. On the first slice we found a weird piece of blue plastic (see photo). We waited for the server to return to check on us and when she failed after 5 minutes of us trying to get her attention we went up and showed them. Their response? Excuses about shift changes and "what do you want us to do about it?" They took the slice and plate and disappeared into the kitchen. We waited for another 5 minutes and saw lots of ticked off looks from the cooks and staff but no one ever came to explain or apologize. We finally went back up to ask for another plate. We picked through the rest of the pizza but didn't find anything else. Our server only returned with the check 20 minutes later. She never refilled our drinks and $2 for seltzer in an 8oz cup LOADED with ice is ridiculous. They took half off the pizza. We asked her what they thought the blue plastic was and she said, "maybe crayon"! Or "maybe something off the bottom of the pizza thing". We gave her $1 tip and paid the bill, leaving the rest of the pizza. Both of us had food poisoning that night and next morning.

Horrible crust that was over cooked. BBQ chicken pizza to spicy for kids. And last but not least rotten lettuce in the salad! Do not waste your money sadly the major national pizza chain that delivers is far superior and available in Juneau.

Been less impressed the last couple of times. After tonight's dinner, I'm gonna lower my rating down one star. Service is pretty good, food is not on par with a few years ago. Price still ok.

If you're only visiting Juneau for a meal or two, this is an okay place to skip. But if you're here for longer, or live in Juneau - this is a great spot for an bite. The first thing about this place is the fantastic smell that fills the corridor. Its amazing pizzeria yumminess fills the entire wharf building. The salads are good - I had a great spinach salad with pine nuts, green apples, and dried cranberries. The personal pizzas are big enough to share and tasty. Fresh chopped garlic on top after cooking. Average service, nothing too friendly. Below average decor, but overall a decent place with decent food.

If I could give it less stars I would. For some reason, some of the businesses in Juneau treat their tourist like garbage and Pizza Roma is one of them. Besides the pizza crust having the texture of cement, they couldn't even get the order right (I asked for half pizza with meats, half with a few veggies,) I'm assuming this was too much of a sophisticated request because they threw the veggies in the center. Not cool when you have a 14 year old who is hungry, but won't eat because there are onions and bell peppers smothered on her side. I would happily give my tourist dollar to a local Juneau business, even if it were $30 bucks for a semi descent pizza; however, the attitude over the phone, rudeness in the business when we went to pick up, and a gross pizza thrown together is too much for me. This pizza place is not worth your time or money.

Ordered the Combo Roma with jalapeños for pickup. Food was ready in the timeframe promised, the large was more than enough for 2 & it was very good. New to the Juneau area & will definitely order from there again.

I would go here all the time when I was on my lunch break. I love how thin the crust and it was always perfectly done. I would usually get sundried tomatoes and spinach but cheese is pretty good too. No complaints except the raw garlic can be a bit strong so just carry some tic tacs for your breath. The staff was always really nice and it's 2 slices for 5 bucks so pretty good deal too. :)

Worst pizza place ever!! Waited FORVER for the pizza, they forgot our appetizer and the pizza had so much garlic sprinkled all over it - way too much. My son spilled his coke and the waiter walked by and didn't offer to help clean it up. We had to get up and bring our cups to the counter for every drink refill and to get the check. Absolutely horrible service!!! I hate to give them even 1 star!

The place is nestled in the Hanger mall near the downtown Juneau. We ordered Italian Vegetarian sandwiches on Focaccia bread. The sandwiches were well cooked and came with vegetable salad. Quite filling. Tasted good. There were ample vegetables and didn't look like they skimped on any ingredients. And they didn't break the bank either. Would certainly recommend.

Last time I come here. Food took twice as long as I was told when I ordered with no apology or update. Food is good but they need to give folks a realistic expectation for when their food will be ready.

Not the best nor the worst pizza joints out there. This isn't your top notch pizza establishment, nor is it a complete hole in the wall. FOOD: Decent to average. I've had better, but because most food items are shipped into Alaska this wasn't too bad. I had a small pizza which was alright but not overly amazing. DECOR: Seen some better years. It's red and white checkered table clothes with the clear vinyl over it. SERVICE: Servers are in casual dress and get your food within an acceptable amount of time. I wasn't kept waiting long. OVERALL: Alright to good choice to stop for a quick bite to eat if you're touring the place without wanting to spend too much money.

I have gone here only a hand full of times but always displeased with the extremely long wait. Yes, each pizza is hand made just like the other pizza places in town but they don't take as long as this place does. This last visit was the last time I will ever go. I ordered the Jamican Jerk Chicken, it tasted overwhelming of cloves that I could hardly eat 1/2 a slice, the person with me was unable to eat it as well due to overpowering clove taste in the sauce. It was the only thing we could taste. They offered to make us a new pizza so we selected something simple knowing it would be fine. Regardless of our polite yet honest resquest, that pizza was tossed and new one presented but we were charged for both pizza's. Good customer service would have been to charge for one pizza and not both.

This is my favorite pizza place in Juneau. Better quality than Bullwinkle's and more satisfying than the Island Pub. Some of their speciality pizzas can be pricey, but I usually get a small pepperoni pizza. It's always very tasty. Great crust. Their salads are delicious too. If you go for lunch, get the lunch special (two slices of pizza, salad, and a soda for like $7), but get there a little before noon. If not, you may have to wait a while. The service can be a bit spotty. There are some really awesome servers, and then there are others who just don't give a damn. Like the one who tried to take away our half-eaten salad and then gave us strange looks when we said we weren't finished with it. Just smile and be patient if you run into one of them. Parking can be a struggle, but if you're up for a short walk go park at the library garage.

Probably the most average pizza I've had in a long time. The sauce was good, but the toppings weren't as fresh as they could've been. The crust was good. Not as good as some of the real hand tossed crusts, but still tasted hand-made. I'd go back again.

This was my hubby and I's go to date night place when we lived in Juneau! Very yummy pizza!

Pretty good pizza with generous toppings. If you get the larger sized pie, I hope you have a refrigerator at home, very good, and very filling. The staff seemed kind of indifferent to our patronage however. I know they have to deal with a lot of tourists, but a simple acknowledgement of of our goodbye, thanks, and a wave would may have been nice.

I came in here late one night, probably 10min before the closing time, the waiter still took my take-out order and let me wait in the restaurant while he started sweeping. The eggplant parmesan came out delicious and I'm so appreciative they made it for me despite having to close later.

Stopped here for lunch. It's located inside the mall developed from the old Seadrome building. Look for the Hangar on the Wharf restaurant signs. Full menu of Italian dishes. We both had verde salad made with spinach and spring greens, Italian dressing. Just excellent. My wife had a pesto vegetarian pizza with artichoke. Very good. Crisp thin crust, Napoli style. I had a Calzone with sausage and onion. Giant sized portion for a lunch item. A trifle salty, but good.

Pizza pretty good, toppings seemed very fresh and generous. Crust was so-so. Service was alright. Paper plates and cups though?? For a sit-down meal?

Pizzeria Roma has tasty pizza. The atmosphere wasn't bad, but not great, the service was alright, the pizza was good. I don't remember if I were really hungry, but I do remember enjoying eating their pizza.

Pizza was good, foccaccia was mediocre. The service was pretty slow from the time we put our name in for a table through getting a check and it was really hot upstairs where we were seated, but the food was solid.

  • Joe T.

The pizza is real good. The sauce is fresh and has a real rich tomato taste on thin crust. I have been here a few times and the food will not disappoint, but the service is less than stellar. If you don't mind slow service, no refills, and great pizza.. this is the place to be for pizza in Juneau in my opinion!

  • Mike H.

Wow, I can't believe this place isn't already on here! I love the pizzas here, pretty much anything on the menu is excellent. They also have a fresh supply of Alaskan Amber. Plus, they often have some of Alaskan's "rough draughts" (say it out loud), limited edition beers that might never make it to market. Anyway, enough about the beer, give it a shot sometime. I always try to visit Pizzeria Roma when I pass through Juneau. Enjoy!
