Although the Spit Road Lodge was musty and dark, it certainly was not unfriendly and the Alaskan mountain women who serviced us were, yes, a little rough, but very kind in the end. They were more than happy to show us a good time at the Salty Dog saloon and Karacters (with a backwards K). They cooked the halibut we caught, spam roast too, plus a big breakfast the morning we left -- not bad. Shuttled us around the Spit, gave us the royal treatment--a taste of the real Alaska. The other review talks about the barely converted garage, nice - one of our guys got to spend the night in the dungeon. So this is a shout out for our women of the bush, Terri, Traci, and Randi, you and the lodge are the essence of Alaska, Homer, and all of its beautiful, rugged, backcountry frontier. We would come back in a second! Multiple times over. If there were more than five stars it would get every one! Plus, it was a great deal in terms of other places we found on the Spit. Thank you.
