I never had a problem at this Subway location, nor have I had a problem at any Subway location in town. There is no Subway in town that stands out from the rest, once you've been to one, you've been to them all. They are all clean and well-run. Their staff is friendly and know how to do their jobs.

Pita Pit

Reviews:
Today is the first time I have ever tried Pita Pit. I never really thought much about this place until people started telling me how good it was. Well, the location I thought was always awkward because you need to loop around the Starbucks drive thru to get to it and parking was a bit limited. When I walked in I saw something I did not expect, a HUGE line, I was almost lining up at the door. It was the lunch rush during the work week and I could tell there were many people from offices ordering food for multiple people. I waited 15 minutes in line! I thought while waiting, "wow, this place must really be good". I ordered the Gyro since it seemed popular. You pay first, then they ask if you want white or wheat Pita. I choose wheat, then you move onto the veggies. The veggie lineup is pretty much like Subway, but the veggies appear to be a bit more fresh. I loaded a bunch of veggies and then added the tzatziki spread, which is the Gyro sauce. I forgot to add, as you are doing this, there is a grill master grilling up your choice of meat on the spot for you. I took a seat and began to eat. The flavors were amazing, everything blended well. I can say it was not like a Gyro you would get at a Greek restaurant or state fair, but it was still tasty. The pita was soft and thin so you are not filling yourself with carbs, you are actually able to taste the meat and vegetables. Final verdict, I cannot wait to come back and try their other items!
Me, my mom, and my stepdad were trying to figure out what to try in Ankeny, my hometown a while back. As we drove along Delaware avenue, my mom spotted a small business among all the well known chains called Pita Pit. So naturally, we stopped to see what it was like. Little did we know, after this visit, Pita Pit would become a regular place for us to eat. And who could blame us? Pita pit was like a Subway, but instead of sandwiches, delicious AND healthy wraps. Even though it's a small version of a chain, Pita Pit uses fresh, wholesome ingredients. If your in the mood for a wrap, but don't want to go through the hassle of making it, Pita Pit is for you.
I pretty much agree with the previous reviews. Basically like Subway but with fresher and more ingredient options (they even have chopped fresh mushrooms and crumbled feta cheese). And of course the thin pita means less bread and it allows you to enjoy the insides much more than a sub. Not quite as filling as a sub, but I get a lot of extras with mine so it's usually bursting.

This has to be THE best deli in Iowa. Great variety of menu options with many healthy choices. It is big, so if you have mobility issues, bring your walker!
Food is amazing, price is a little high. That's the only reason it isn't rated five stars. Great soups and sandwiches!
Came here for the first time today for lunch. Very different place than I thought it would be. There are many food items to choose from, sandwiches, soups, cold salad items, etc. It was confusing to me to figure out where to start ordering the food, but I eventually got it. There were many people eating here during lunch, it was packed, but we still found a table. We got a reuben sandwich, broccoli cheddar soup, and chicken cordon bleu sandwich. It was all excellent and they brought it out very quickly. The atmosphere of the location seems to be a bunch of coworkers stopping by to eat lunch before heading back to work. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes, it all looks so appetizing.

This location gets a five star for cleanliness and appearance because it's brand-new and gets a one star for service in the employees so I would say that equals out to a three star. This location is brand-new and located right off the exit of interstate 35 to Ankeny. It's not the main Ankeny exit it's the newer one. The location is so new it still smelled like sawdust inside. The restrooms were located around the corner almost so you could even see where they were at but they were very clean and smell nice. Inside the restaurant there were several tables and even booths spread comfortably throughout. I like how they had the layout of the sandwich prep station. They had an employee with the bread and the meat and then it was separated by the toaster oven and microwave between the vegetable area. So the employee never had to turn around away from the customer in order to use the toaster and microwave to heat the sandwiches. I ate at this location at about 1215 on a Friday afternoon. There were people in and out of here but it wasn't very busy. The employee who first help me was not very enthusiastic. No hello welcome just what can I get for you in a very monotone not express a voice. He slowly assembled my sandwich without much just or urgency. I wasn't in a hurry but for those who are he wasn't real excited to be there. The second employee who put my vegetables are odd did so carefully but again no smile no interaction he seemed rather nervous maybe this was his first job or he was still in the learning process. The same person who made my sandwich initially came over and run me up. No please no thank you just here's your total your sandwich. I decided to dine in today because I'm on my way back it is not easy to eat a sub sandwich while driving in the car. In observing the employees their interactions were pretty much the same as what I had experienced. At one point one of the employees went around to the restroom and the other two employees were in the back room of the kitchen. Two new customers came in and walked over to the place order here area. It took almost 5 minutes for someone to even notice that there was somebody there waiting to order a sandwich. The two employees and back had no clue or were not paying attention and the other plate was still in the restroom. During the noon hour I think it would be frowned upon to leave the front customer area at all for this exact reason. It's not that the employees were rude because they worked. I think they were poorly trained or did not care about their jobs. Especially when starting a new business it's important to have the right people work with your customers in order to impress your new clients. This place did not impress me.

This locally owned Blimpie is always my go-to sub shop. The employees are nice and the food is consistently good. I love Blimpie bread compared to other restaurants.
I had no idea what Blimpie was until I looked it up. Turns out it's like a sandwhich chain almost identical to Subway chains. There was one in town, I believe there's only two in the entire metro area, so I decided to give it a go. Upon entering I instantly felt like I was walking into a Subway with a different layout and color scheme. The sandwiches they offer were standard deli subs, to hot subs, to panini sandwiches! I ordered the Blimpie Best deli sub and my friend had the Philly cheese steak hot sandwich. The process was pretty smooth and simple, if you've been to Subway, you'll know what to do! The sandwiches were pretty good. It was had a different taste than Subway and Jimmy Johns, which was a good change of pace. I wouldn't say it is better, just different. Try it out and see what you think!
Blimpies has pannini sandwiches, pizza, and Blue Bunny ice cream. Yes, it does take some time because they make your food once you order it. It is a great place to get a drive-thru Blue Bunny ice cream cone.
