Casey’s Carry Out Pizza

Our family loves the pizzas here! They have your typical selection of pizza toppings, in addition to specialty pizzas.....like their famous taco! Choose your crust, flatbread or traditional. They also have a variety of sub sandwiches, wraps, fried goodies and pizza by the slice! We've been coming here for over 13 years and have yet to have a bad experience at this location. Bob always takes care of us and always makes sure we have the perfect and positive experience. I personally know folks who will drive across town just to come to this location for pizza! The kitchen is clean as is the store, and there is plenty of well lit parking to round it all out!

Caseys and QT are my favorite gas stations in Iowa. They are clean, safe, and have friendly staff. All Caseys have amazing hot pizza slices ready to eat at a good price. This Caseys does not standout from the others I've been to, just another well run location Get the breakfast pizzas! They are the best!!

Papa Murphy’s

This is my second time getting Papa Murphy's pizza, the first time I got the Murphy's combo on a standard large pizza and I honestly did not enjoy the taste at all. After about a year of not going to any Papa Murphy's location, I decided to give it a go after seeing all their different types of options available. I ended up getting their Chicken Bacon stuffed pizza. I can tell you this changed the game for me, this pizza tasted amazing! It was big, the price was right, and had amazing flavor! You could call in to order or just show up to watch them make it fresh (I enjoy watching them do it). You take it home and bake it in the oven yourself, doesn't take more than 25 minutes or so. The pizza tasted like a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, it was THAT stuffed. Would try their other specialty again! Maybe I'll continue to stray away from their standard options.

I eat lunch here once a month or so. I love love the fried chicken. You can also do a personal request for buffalo wings. The buffet is decently loaded. I would recommend this place at least for lunch.
Seventh Pizza Ranch we have been to this summer. Went on a Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM with the in-laws. Very busy. Had plenty of food and nothing was empty. My wife liked it that this place had a lot of choices of veggies over other Pizza Ranches we have been to. Everything was excellent.
Recommended! Go when Micah is working. He gives the best service. Fried chicken and chicken with basil thin crust pizza were excellent! The dessert pizza topped off with ice cream was a great finish. The total package!

Wheel House Pizzeria & Pub

106 SW State St
Ankeny, 50021
Reviews:
Set up for bicyclists there are racks to hang your bikes from. It is small on the inside so unless you want to wait for a seat you may want to try going at an off hour. Wood fire pizza, try the egg roll, yum. Wings are rotisserie style and very good. Staff always friendly and willing to put your a cold beer or a drink. Outdoor seating is not available right now and I do not see how they would build it in to the area since it is a strip mall type set up. Worth a stop. Check out the portrait behind the bar and ask about the bar top and what it is made from. There is history here even if it is in a new strip mall.
The Wheel House is such a great place to hang out. I've had nothing but positive experiences. The bartenders/servers are always friendly and quick. The pizza selection is so weird, but it's so good at the same time! Who else has an eggroll pizza? Super delicious. So is the carnivore. I don't mess around with pizza, and this is good stuff. Order a cucumber moscow mule. You will not regret it. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that the crowd is a little older than I'm used to. It's not necessarily the BEST place in the Des Moines/Ankeny area to meet people if you're in your twenties.
We are new to the community. I was so excited to try this place out with my husband and a few of my family members who were visiting from out of town. I had high hopes given the 4 out of 5 star rating! We were greeted and welcomed. We ordered drinks. Everything seemed fine until it wasn't anymore. My husband asked about the feta cheese because he's lactose intolerant so fresh cow milk makes him sick. He can have feta made from goat or sheep milk so we did not think asking this question was a big deal. The waitress brought him the bag of Stella feta crumbles from the kitchen so he could see for himself, I guess. It did not say on the bag so we were able to look around online and find out for sure that it was in fact made from cow's milk. By this time he knew he couldn't have a pizza made with feta instead of mozzarella so he opted for the grinder with no cheese, add banana peppers. The grinder came with cheese oozing out the side. Our waitress made us feel horrible for asking her to take it back and bring one without cheese. I explained that my husband ordered it without cheese because he would be physically ill if he ate it. She became slightly argumentative, huffed, and took it back to the kitchen. She returned with a grinder without cheese. We thanked her profusely. She just laid the plate down and walked away, sighing heavily and dramatically. The next sandwich came out cold and without banana peppers. My husband was just going to sit there while the rest of us ate, but I spoke up about it being cold. Again, heavy sigh, no words, stormed off to the kitchen as if she was mad at us. Our waitress was also extremely rude with us when we asked for forks twice, as if it were our fault that there were no clean and dry forks to provide (even though the restaurant was not even half full). I gave the second star because the pizza was good! My husband will not set foot in the place again. I believe in second chances, but I don't eat out a lot without him so I'm still hoping to find my friendly neighborhood pizza place.

Northernlights Pizza

Reviews:
*Duplicate Review* There is already a page for Northern Lights. Lazy to leave home today to get lunch so I ordered pizza, I chose Northern Lights because I wanted something other than Pizza Hut or PaPa Johns. I've heard good things about them but wanted to see for myself what they had to offer. I won't discuss the delivery time because there was a small issue and the order was delayed, I'm sure the delivery time is fine when there are no issues. Looking at their menu I was like a kid in a candy store. There were so many items that looked delicious. I decided to go with a more premium pizza, a Chicken Alfredo Supreme and Cheesy Sticks. The food came and the pizza was very unique and amazing! It is definitely not your huge chain pizza store. The taste is hard to describe, I would say it tastes REAL and well prepared. The price is a bit pricer than your normal chain places, but it is worth it. I cannot wait to try their other pizzas and items. I hear their grinders are supposed to be really good

Leaning Tower of Pizza

Reviews:
Came back to Leaning Tower after a poor previous experience. This time we had a large "Piper" (pepperoni & banana peppers) for $20 which tasted like a cheap frozen pizza except the cheese and crust were overcooked. Crust was too thin and the pepperonis were few and far between. At least the beer was cold. Would not go back for pizza. Better off with Gusto or Pagliais.
We live in Ankeny and come here every Friday. The wait staff is excellent making you feel right at home, it is a small place and sometimes there is a wait but it is totally worth it.
Tasty pizza, slightly overpriced though. Decent beverage options. Service is great. Seating is limited, so there may be a wait on weekend evenings.

Wig & Pen Pizza Pub

Reviews:
Wig and Pin is an awesome pizza eatery. It's a nice local pub. My family and I were craving Chicago style pizza so came here to try it out. We got the wings and garlic cheese bread as the appetizer. The garlic cheese bread was delicious. The wings were very crispy and good but it was bit too much on the salty side. We got the Big Tomato Style Pizza which I felt like was the in-between of Regular Pan Style Pizza and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. When it got to our table, the service was great where the waitress served all the first slices to us individually. The pizza was amazing! Lots fresh mozzarella and the crust has to be my favorite part. It's crispy and cooked just right. The ratio of cheese and sauce tasted just right with the dough. Along with the items I tried, they have a handful of other American appetizers and entrees. Next time, I want to try their actual Chicago Stuffed Pizza and perhaps the Pork Tenderloin. I'd recommend it!
I got to admit I want PIZZA from here! Ok I have been here twice now and have yet to get to try the Pizza, my wife had pizza earlier in the day so we decided to get Veggie Burgers instead of the Pizza which just looks absolutely amazing! Our friends sitting with us got a Pizza and yes I was extreamly jealous how good it looked and smelled! But have no fear if you are ordering the veggie burger on the pretzel bun, it's pretty darn good as well! If you are vegan make sure you order it without the sauce. As far as the decour of the place think British pub feel, in a strip mall! Seriously great beer selections and nice staff. Maybe not the place to eat if you are in a hurry cause the pizza's do take a good amount of time to make but that cause they have the perfect look to them brown crust, a little brown on top, man I want some PIE from here, if it's as good as it looks, it definitely incredible! I will be back stay tuned! Note: I spoke here once for a Jaycees meeting and they have a great little party room, for events. I think it's free to use as well!
Terrible TERRIBLE management. We came in at 6:00pm and ordered by 6:20pm. We finally left at 7:40pm because our pizza was STILL NOT SERVED! Other customers came and went during our wait.

Great location with a super-friendly staff.
The lunch buffet here is really hard to top. Friendly staff, hot pizza, and a good bargain. You have a choice of soup or salad plus all you can eat pizza during the lunch buffet. For dinner or weekends, the crowds can get thick they don't take reservations, so plan accordingly. They have tons of beer on tap and plenty of tvs during sporting events. The healthy options pretty much don't exist, but let's be honest - people come here to carb load on yummy deep dish pizza! The best part of our dining experience here was all the beer on tap. We will eat here again.
Stopped here on our way home to Minneapolis. Server was friendly and attentive. The bartender was clearly more interested in his phone than in pouring the one beer we ordered. It did take about 30 min for our order of wings and fries to arrive. It wasn't too busy at that time. The food was decent. Three star worthy. The all day happy hour prices were great (Sunday).

The outside does look a bit run down and plopping down into a booth i might guess the interior might as old. We visited on a Thursday evening. A restaurant coupon burning a home in our pockets. Emily helped us right away. Appetizer of the nachos and another of the chips with cheese and bacon. Nachos "were not bad. Simple and good." Chips. "Warmed chips with bacon bits and to much salt. " Beers order and received quickly. He ordered the Tradesman burger. Came with a fried on top. He really liked it. I tried it as well and also like the flavor and thick patty. The waitress said she liked the cavatelli. I had that. A nice combo of noodles all baked up and layer of cheese. I thought was good. Too much food and have to take it home. So i think previous comments of bad service might have made them step it up. Emily Was great and they were 3 waitress and one bartender full. Getting out of there was a just a bit of a challenge. Just got busy and took a bit to get the check. Other than that it was alright.
The outside of the establishment looks old...and so does the inside haha. You can tell from the outdated decor they have not kept up with modern designs. You walk in and you'll seat yourself to a table, they have Tvs so you'll be able to catch your game. The server was very friendly and it was not busy, but service was on the slower side, but nothing terrible. Make sure you check out their daily specials to see if something sparks your interest. We ordered a speciality alcoholic beverage which I can't remember the name of, but it was very good! For the appetizer we had the Bbq wings which were a bit subpar in both taste and texture. We decided to get the Sunrise pizza? (breakfast pizza? Egg pizza?) I'm sorry I forgot the official item name. It was basically a pizza where they would replace the pizza sauce with eggs! It sounded amazing so we decided to give it a go, we got the eggs cooked easy. The pizza was good, initially. It was very new so it was good, the eggs were very easy in my opinion, the egg whites were basically raw and runny. After a few slices I had enough, this is where I regretted getting it easy, maybe ask for it medium or hard next time. Overall a descent experience, would definitely order other items in the future.
Food was good once we received it, Sevice was poor, overall not impressed as a place to go for lunch
