Great place in Green River! We were staying at Hampton Inn and tried this little vintage diner for our late dinner. The homemade potato chips were superb! Crispy hot goodness. My kiddo had the chicken sandwich which comes with bacon on toasted bun - he love it. "10 out of 10" in his book. My hubby had the chicken fried steak and he enjoyed it very much and so did I. The mashed potatoes were real and very tasty. The gravy was great. I had the rocking Ruben which was tasty but my hubbies meal was better. We also ordered the old fashion milkshakes. This place is great. Kudos to the cook lady, she was hassling on the grill and serving at the tables when it got busy. We are coming back for breakfast in the am.

The atmosphere is charming. 50's deco and music. Im struggling to find something nice to say because the older gal waitress is not nice. I had to get up to ask for more coffee. We are here for breakfast. There are only two other tables. Hope the food us good. Pretty disappointed so far. Well the food was better than the service but not by much. Had to cut the pancakes with a knife. Meal is basically free (Oak Tree Inn - thank you). And free is for me, I guess. We are thinking the bad service is because the waitress thinks she isnt going to get tipped. We would have tipped on a full price ticket if we would have received full price service.

Conveniently located right off of the freeway exit. Comfort home cook style after a long drive. Very nice. Nice waitresses.

We just loved this place from the moment we spotted it. Found it on Yelp. Staff as wonderful. Food was delish! Prices very reasonable. Loved the atmosphere and will definitely head back when in the area! Thanks Amanda!

Penny's dinner is an awesome palace to stop and grab a bite off the freeway. The place is very customer friendly with the older style atmosphere. Orders and drinks were taken very quickly. The food was definatly unique and tasted awesome The cons: expect to wait a while. The waiting time is deffinatly a stop and relax to eat. Not quick like McDonald's. And the fries were very hard almost hard to eat. Overall I would come back

Breakfast for dinner while traveling. The menu looked great. I almost got the special but the chicken fried steak and eggs won out. The service was great, not just to me but they were great with an Italian family that came in for take out. Next time I'm headed through, I'll stop again.

Never going there again, portions are small and skimpy. My husband's coffee was horrible and weak.

Great little diner. Friendly staff and regulars. Decent food. Fast. The food is decent. The servers are very friendly and back each other up (asking if you need more coffee). I think the coffee was fine. Depending where you sit, there are nice views out the window If you are staying at the Oak Tree Inn, they give you a coupon for breakfast or credit towards any other meal. It is conveniently close to the Lincoln Highway (I-80) Exit #89. Convenient return to the freeway and easy truck or trailer parking behind the Sinclair gas station next door. If you need a simple and quick meal in Green River, it is a great place to stop. Open 24 hours, too.

The Reuben and their home made chips are amazing! And they make their own green pork chili which is the best I've ever had, hands down!

Great little diner. We had breakfast here the other morning with excellent and fast service. Katie our waitress did an exceptional job. The food portions were a great size and tasted great. Definitely a must stop for breakfast!!!

We love the dinner....HOWEVER, you can't eat there in the winter months because it is FREEZING!!! Literally. We had breakfast with our family in January, we had to wear our heavy winter gear WHILES we were sitting at our booth, & all of our meals were ice cold. But they are awesome in the warm weather months!!

All I wanted was a slice of apple pie with melted cheddar. They had shredded, and microwaved it, but still wasn't really melted. The atmosphere was fun, maybe my expectation was too high for a roadside diner to know what I was talking about. They just looked at us funny when we ordered. Still, bought a mug and hat to remember them by.

Absolute worse food I have ever tasted! Dirty glass, dirty fork, just plan dirty! There were even bugs crawling around! I will never eat here again!

Pros: Great food (for the price), friendly place Cons: New staff had some struggles, cleanliness was so-so Caveats: We arrived in the middle of a bad storm so the mud/dirty water people tracked in shouldn't be held against the restaurant Stopped in while traveling cross-country. Waitress was 2nd day on the job and still learning the menu. She tried hard and did okay. Veggie burrito came covered in green chile (with meat) as noted in another review - best green chili I've ever had in a diner. My companion ordered chicken fried steak and thought it was quite good as well - especially the crispy hash browns. We'd definitely eat here again if we were passing through around meal time.

Just a cute little diner in the middle of sand cliff, railroad and cattle country. Waitresses call you hon and sweety, super nice. Got the veggie burrito, our waitress tami was sweet enough to point out the green chili that goes on top of the burrito had pork in it, so was able to get it on the side. Decent diner food.

Part of a small regional chain (4-5 other diners sprinkled around the western US.) Fun diner atmosphere, reliable diner food. The first time I ate here was in 2008 during a cross-country move because my husband, who had driven out weeks earlier recommended it. AND because there was a place for me to park my 26 foot rental truck with attached car trailer nearby. On that visit, I ate a burger, fries and shake, and was very happy. Friendly atmosphere, cheerful service, nice vibe. I said I would stop again next time I was driving through. Five years later, I stopped again, this time with hubby. I got a burger again; he ordered some of the best huevos rancheros either of us have ever tasted--breakfast is served all day. The eggs came with hash browns and some kind of delicious gravy with carnitas in it. Wow. One reviewer griped about plastic plates, but on both visits, we were served on china. Friendly waitress kept our coffee and water filled. Free Wifi!

Pros: Cute place Great friendly service! Fast service! Open kitchen Cons: Plastic plates Horrible coffee To be fair, I am from Portland, ORegon, where we are coffee snobs.

The food here was amazing. We came to Penny's while driving across the country and were staying at the Oak Tree Inn, which is in the same lot. Penny's was AMAZING. My boyfriend had the ranch chicken sandwich (he loved it) and I had a Hawaiian chicken sandwich (might not be the exact name, but you get the jist). IT WAS DELICIOUS. What's great is that if you stay at the Oak Tree Inn, you get free breakfast at Penny's. We couldn't wait to go back the next morning. The pancakes were fluffy and impossible to describe good. My boyfriend had a breakfast sandwich and described it as "one of the best he ever had" (that's saying something since he lived in New York for a long time). We loved it!

Got meatloaf here on a monday night when everything else was closed. I prob should of gone w something more traditional to eat like a burger. On a good note it's open 24hrs which is rare around here and the 50s diner setting is really cute. If I go back again I'd probably just try something simple like a burger or sandwich.
