Decided to eat here because I was told it is a local favorite. Not loud..I guess because there's not a game on. The Disney Channel is actually on. The waitress made several recommendations, however I decided to keep it boring by ordering a cheese burger. I've had bigger and better burgers. The onion rings were ok. Service is lacking because the waitress never returned to refill my drink, however she did manage to bring me my check. I guess I would return if I ever find myself in Gillette.

Loved this place! We were passing through on the way home from vacation & looking for a local place (thanks Yelp!). Good was terrific & pretty fast. I had the "Dan the Man", which was fantastic! Last but not least, Bruce made the rounds to ask how the food was. In short, if you're near Gillette, skip the franchise fast food & try Humphrey's, you won't be sorry!

Humphrey's is classic Gillette - the menu is huge and the food is decent. You're not paying top dollar, so you get what you pay for. The drinks are fun and the service is usually pretty good. It can get loud for sure, so be prepared for a family friendly, fun environment, don't expect gourmet food and you'll enjoy yourself!

The waitress was very pleasant and the atmosphere was decent. I had a burger, onion rings and slaw. It was a little on the low side of average for this type of food in this type of restaurant. I would have no problem eating here again but it's not worth going out of the way for.

In passing through Gillette, I decided to take the time to review Yelp for some friendly suggestions. One place that stood out was Humphrey's Bar and Grill. In entering the establishment, the walls took me a bit by surprise being completely covered in memorabilia and pictures. It definitely added to the ambiance. I ordered a side of their "famous" onion rings which came out very bland and oily along with the Bourbonator burger (1/2 lb burger with bourbon sauce, ham and cream cheese. The burger was ok. I would classify it as an upscale AMPM gas station burger. The burger had that feel and the bun was very spongy. Not exactly a place that drives me to return. The service was decent which allows for an extra star but the food was definitely mediocre at best.

Loud. Loud. LOUD. Huge menu. Decent food. Horrible service. I am not a fan of places that stress big helpings. Lots of food doesn't translate to good food, usually the opposite. My hamburger was fine. Others at the table got chicken fried chicken and said it was fine. The decor was an overdose of pictures and other kitsch on the walls. All hard surfaces and very loud patrons made for difficult conversation. We had to lead into our table and yell at each other to be heard. The waitress spilled water on my wife's food and did not offer to make it right. It was a lot of water that pooled on and around the mashed potatoes. My drink was not refilled. The waitress didn't not stay around the table long enough to hear our requests. I'd probably go back, but I wouldn't rush.

Locals recommended and it did not disappoint, I went there several times during my stay in Gillette. First time I had ever tried Rocky Mountain Oysters, such a tasty treat, everyone who dared to taste them went back for more, so we had to order a second round. And did I just order a ham, turkey, and pepperjack cheese sandwich battered then deep fried? You better believe it, deep fried awesomeness. Now what really kept me and my friends coming back was the all you can eat BBQ Ribs on special days. There was so much meat on them we could never get past the first round. And of course the appetizer menu tempted us each time, with the deep fried zucchini and deep fried pickles we had to start with them. Oh and don't forget the onion rings.

Pretty decent place for a small town that doesn't have a whole lot to choose from, good ice cold beers and the food can be pretty good at times. That is probably the biggest problem is consistancy, the food and service can really vary from good to pretty poor at times.

Humphrey's is one of the best places to eat in Gillette. They have great food, a big menu, and a wide variety of beer. My favorite is The Bourbonator; A burger with sweet bourbon sauce, ham, and cream cheese. It's awesome.

I visited Humphrey's back in 2005 when I was out in Wyoming for work. Their portions are huge, the food is great and the moose t-shirts are so adorable ( I got the one that said "Been There, Humped That")! I ordered The Big Hurt which was 20oz of medium rare beefy goodness and yes, I ate the entire thing. My stomach was so full I could barely walk, but it was SO WORTH IT! If you're ever in Gillette, you definitely need to eat here!

I've been here a couple of times while working up in Gillette, and I have to say it's pretty uniform to the other Sanford's I've been in. The one redeeming quality here is the young man behind the bar named Hans. This kid never stops, and gives excellent service. I feel sorry for him sometimes as it looks like he's working circles around his co-workers. I always go and sit at the bar to make sure I get him as a server, and I have yet to be disappointed. Humphrey's is good, but Hans makes it great!!

BEST buffalo wings in town, coming from a wing snob. :-) Excellent service. I had a great Monte Cristo sandwich (the second best I've EVER had) with their specialty jam. Beers are cold, atmosphere is great, and they were family friendly. I don't like their Cajun fries...just a bunch of salty, spicy seasoning on top of their regular fries...like, a BUNCH. Go for regular fries instead. I'm looking forward to returning for more wings. :-)

Spent one night in Gillette, was intrigued by the reviews and was hungry for some local flavor. Went in on a quiet Sunday night, the hostess seated us immediately and we were left to browse the enormous menus. My wife and I finally agreed on an appetizer and chose our entrees. We closed our menus and continued to wait for some greeting or other acknowledgement from the server. It never happened. We continued to wait, apparently beneath the notice of several passing servers. I can understand delays in seating and even in delivery of orders when a restaurant is busy, but no excuse is appropriate for a table to go unacknowledged for nearly ten minutes on slow night. Finally, I set my phone on the table and set a one minute timer. When the timer counted to zero, we stood up and walked out, even waiting for a server to move out of my way before I could leave my booth. Not one employee said a word to us as we left, so I'm left to assume that our business was not wanted in this establishment. The menu items looked great, prices were reasonable, looked to be a well-run, successful local restaurant. The documented reviews of those who were properly served by their workforce seemed to paint a pleasant dining experience in Gillette. We'll never know. Los Compadres got our business tonight.

Great wings, big beers and friendly bartenders! I will take this place over any big "chain" place. Portions are large so come hungry, and thirsty, did I mention huge beers?

The food was ok and the service was ok. Nothing spectacular. It wasn't to crowded so we didn't have to battle any wait time at lunch time. Lots of cool sports memorabilia.

This place has a lot of charm. It's a fun bar and restaurant with a pretty big menu. I had the fajitas and they were great. There was a food issue when they were delivered. I asked for no cheese or sour cream because I'm lactose intolerant. The food runner brought out the tortilla and condiment plate and it had cheese on it. I asked if she could get me a new plate without cheese, but she only scraped off the cheese, leaving pieces in the other toppings. When the waitress came by, she made a new plate for me herself. I appreciate her fixing the issue herself. Others in my party had the 1st base and 3rd base burgers. They report they were tasty and only slightly overcooked. Dawn was a really great waitress. She goes out of her way to fix kitchen issues, recommend good dishes, and is genuinely friendly. Overall, this was the best restaurant we've hit on our road trip so far.

Great food and service. Largest menu I have ever seen. The wait staff is quick and very knowledgable I went there with son's baseball team friends who had visited the area last year. What a great surprise to find a restaurant gem like this. Dopa was top quality and a little pricey Food portions are very large. Therefore u get what u paid for and more. great atmosphere and the T-shirts are awesome.

We walked in around 9:40pm when they were closing at 10pm on a Weds night...I fully expected some annoyed looks. But nope, everyone was as friendly and welcoming as could be!! There was absolutely no rushing us, and the waitress really took her time to help us pick the best option from their very large menu! Not only were the serving sizes quite large, they were also delicious! We were just passing through on a cross country road trip, and this far exceeded our expectations!! Definitely eat here if you are in Gillette!!

We found ourselves looking for a place to grab lunch. This sports bar seemed to be it. When we walked in, we were greeted with a massive amount of sports memorabilia. It's literally like a TGI Fridays for sports. Looking at the menu, I quickly said no to the Rocky Mountain Oysters. Not out of fear, but I just cannot do that to another man. We did decide on the boneless buffalo wings. There was a huge amount of them and they were very tasty. Not too hot, but just enough bite. I got the Big Hurt 10 oz steak done, medium rare with the Cajun seasoning. It was delicious, juicy and cooked perfectly. I also got the dirty rice which was really good as well. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and very nice. The food was great, I wish I was still in the area to catch a game.

I enjoy this place. I am in town from San Diego and I have to admit the burgers here really rival some of my local establishments. Great menu items, cool wait staff (couple of hotties I might add) and a descent to good beer selection. Combine good food with a great staff, ya get an awesome experience.

Apparently this place is a local favorite and people rave over it. This was the truth because when we got their on a Tuesday for dinner it was PACKED. My experience was fair. I ordered and angioplasty, it was pretty good. Interesting flavor with enough deep fried items to satisfy for about a month. Unfortunately, they go my order wrong the first time and that took away from the experience. Our server seemed somewhat rushed, but overall she did a good job. They have an all you can eat ribs special, DOOOOOOONNNNNNTTTTT DDDDDOOOOOO IIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!!!! Unfortunately the ribs taste like they were boiled and they threw some BBQ sauce on them. I hate to say it, but they were the worse ribs I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a lot of ribs! You get big portions and you have an extensive menu to order from. I love the option of being able to order a chicken sandwich or a burger, alike. Would I go back, yes. Would it be my first choice, (in Gillette, yes. In any other city, no)

Place has good food (little pricey) and friendly staff. It needs to move into this decade by adding wireless Internet. Tip: to fit in dress like your one of the stars of Duck Dynasty.

Love the Big Country burger and red chili cheese fries. Service is sometimes lacking but the food usually makes up for that

There is not a whole lot in Gillette and this place was a nice alternative to the junky fast food you find on road trips. I got the Wyoming Salad. The boyfriend got the chili dog. HUGE portions - I only ate half my salad and the boy's hotdog was monstrous. Definitely filled us up. Environment: Sports bar with crazy decorations. Outside, you have the plastic palm trees. It definitely feels like one of those overdone chains (kinda like Hard Rock). Service: Real friendly and fast.

Well, hopefully you don't like vegetables, or your waistline. fried chicken sandwich with pasta ON it? Really? Ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese, and a salad. Dry chicken, 3 day old shriveled piece of lettuce, cheese product, mediocre bacon. Salad greens taste like chloroform. But hey, the waiters were nice, it was clean looking, and not too expensive. If you're into not too terrible heart attack food... I suppose you're in luck!

I'd have to agree with Jessica here......it's really probably a 3 star place, but for Gillette, it's definitely at least a 4! Humphrey's belongs to the Sanfords chain of restaurants that many may be familiar with around this area of the country. They're located as far south as Fort Collins and east into Rapid City, but I'm not sure of their actual boundaries. The food is good, and it's very consistent. I had a burger that didn't come out how I ordered it once, but the people were very apologetic, offered to make it right, and did immediately. I typically only sit at the bar, so I can't really comment on the rest of the staff, but the bartenders have been great and 5 star quality for each visit. Hans is by far a badass for a barkeep, and the best person that I've dealt with. The beer selection is pretty extensive for most places that I have found in Gillette, and I'm definitely a fan. They do seem to keep several of their larger mugs around that are broken at the bottom of the handles though, so be careful not to lift your mug over your food too often. One of the best highlights, the shirts are hilarious. Feel free to ask the staff if you can check it out because some people have to focus pretty hard to see them, and they end up just looking like creepers squinting, leaning over checking out the ladies and dudes that work there, and that's just awkward.

The service here really made the experience. We were driving through and took a lunch recommendation from some folks at starbucks. The food was good and the service was stellar.

Great place; especially for Gillette. Jalepino poppers were excellent. The Black Tooth IPA was also excellent. Recently had the jambalaya; good and spicy... and delicious! 90 degrees; sitting out on the deck watching a thunderstorm grow... Don't ya' love the west?

This is a great place! I am a local and I would highly recommend it! I love the Wyoming Salad!!... Great Food and Great Service!! try it!... It is a great a atmosphere for all generations! You can see many past and present Gillette residents posted on the walls of the restaurant through sports memorabilia!!

A coworker referred this place to me as a 'localized Applebees" and I find that to be pretty true to form but with much more sports memorabilia. I have both dined in and had take out. I much prefer dine in! My burger was delish and the onion rings were some of the best I have had...sweet, shoe string sized and perfectly cooked. I ordered the taco salad for take out a few nights later...I would not order it ever again. The take out container was filthy and smeared with others food on the outer side and they put no utensils in my to go bag...luckily I had my trusty bambu reuseables at the hotel! I found the service for dine in to be pleasant but unable to keep up with their crowds, it took over 30 minutes for our food after we ordered it?! I would dine in again but leave take out to the pros...er someone else!

If there was an option for 0 stars I would give that. I find it hard to believe this is such a highly reccomended place. We are passing through town and saw reviews and decided to stop. The place is a pretty touristy, cheesy venue. No different then a chain. We ordered mozzarella sticks that were cold and barely cooked, as well as tasted like generic store brand. The fish and chips was a large fillet with hard breading around it. Much like frozen store brand that they over cooked in the deep fryer. Fries were basically McDonald's fries with seasoning- also cold. My husband got fajitas there was a huge amount on the hot plate however it was maybe 4ozs of chicken the rest was green peppers the taste was ok. We got there late maybe hour and half before closing. The staff seemed more interested in cleaning up then waiting on us. Cleaning with chemical sprays in booths around us that had heavy smells was ridiculous. I only ate 2 bites of the fish. When the bill came it was still on the bill however the waitress did apologize that I didn't like it.. Lol thanks. $44.00 for fajitas, fish and chips, appetizer and 2 pops is over priced for this place. I wouldn't recommend to any friends. Taco Bell would have been better.

Alomst five stars? Really people? I guess in gillette it is one of the consistently well done places for a large amount of food for a cheap price, but tnis isnt some hole in the wall gem! Rude people talk loud behind you and there is always a wait, even at 4pm. That being said, the portions a huge and tasty, and theres crazy things on the menu for those of us who want to try something different, like fried dill pickle spears with cajun ranch.

  • Jessica H.

YUM!!! The menu is HUGE, maybe a little toooo big. I had the Redneck Randy which was jalapeno toast, chicken breast, covered with chili topped with cheese and Fritos. Then on the side i got their potato things that are kinda like wedges but a little thicker. SOOO good. I've been talking about it since we left. I can't wait to go back and try more. My bf had the side dish of the corn, which was a little weird for me in all the sauce, but everything else we great! Fun, chill place.

  • Joshua A.

Clean place, Cody was a great waiter. Menu was WAY to big, no kitchen could EVER make that much food well, and I'm a chef, so I know. On top of that, it was the size of a newspaper physical which is just ridiculous haha. We got our food and half of it was excellent, the other half was bought in grossness. If this place cut their menu in half and made everything as well as their chicken strips and onion rings, it'd really be something !

I got "Humped" at Humphrey's and didn't remember a thing the next morning. A fantastic eat, wide-open environment, and lots of laughs. The crew was a blast, very personable, and the service was spot on.

Ate at Sanfords in Sheridan last night, so I just had to try the original. My understanding is the whole chain started right here in Gillette. Have to say the sports memorabilia was top notch. I am a huge sports fan, and spent as much time looking at the walls as I did watching the MLB playoffs. Food was top-notch, way too much, but still top notch. Service staff was great also. Although a little hard to find, well worth driving around Gillette for a bit to get here!

This is the location that started the franchise. They have good food and drink including 30 beers on tap. Sorry, no Lienenkugels it "didn't do well" here. I bet 28 of the other 30 they do have don't do well in a town like Gillette either.. haha! They had "cans" of bud light though! Lets not forget the speakers in the bar blaring 12 year old child music. Listening to Lady Gaga while trying to eat really turned me off. Oh well, at least they know what they are.

  • Jamie W.

The last time I was here, the waitress forgot to put our order in. It took 30 minutes for us to get our drinks from the bar. And about 45 minutes after we sat down, our food, which was not even what we ordered, came out. It was cold and the server never came back to check on us. We had to flag down another server to get our food issues corrected and by the time we were finished eating and ready for our ticket, we had been there for nearly 2 hours with no sign of our waitress. They never even offered to give us a discount for our messed up food or our wait time. Consequently, I have been back very few times. The food is pricey, but the portions are huge. So I guess it's good value for the price you pay, but if you want to wait forever for the wrong food, hey, it's up to you. There are waaaay better places to eat in Gillette.

Excellent, welcoming staff. Food wonderful! I was stuffed & hadn't even had dessert. Get their onion rings!!!! Oversized portions!! Great prices. Nice ambiance. The kids loved looking at all of the items hanging on the walls.

On a recent visit some friends took me for dinner and a few drinks. The interior decorations gave the place a sports bar feel. The menu was the size on the original ten commandments (literally the size of stone tablets. This led to a long, long, long time to make a decision on an order. We started with their world famous onion rings and they lived up to their name. The portion size was ridiculously huge. They came with a Cajun ranch sauce that was dead on. I decided on the groovin Reuben with sweet potato fries. The Reuben was again, HUGE and delicious! The only disappointment was the sweet potato fries. Tasteless and bland. I would recommend Humphreys to anyone traveling through Gillette that is looking for some quality bar food.

  • Rogan M.

I have to give Humphrey's credit, it's definately a good place to go in Gillette. I don't come here as often as I do a certain other place in town but every time i've been to Humphrey's i've had a good experience. The food tends to be twice what you could ever hope to eat and always really good. The atmoshpere is fun in that overdone half cheesy sports bar kind of way, and the service has always been really good. The menu is damn near the size of a volkswagen though so don't plan on carrying on a conversation while going over what you are getting for lunch.
