Fun fact, nearly all eating establishments in Evanston are closed by 8pm on a weekday. Except for TC's. Thank goodness we didn't have to resort to Domino's. When we walked in, half of the restaurant was empty but the hostess told us "all of our servers are like, SUPER busy right now. So it'll be 20 min." What?! Lucky for her, we were a fairly captive (and hungry) audience who were too exhausted to go elsewhere, even to the bar across the street. During our wait, at least five other families came in, heard about the wait, and left annoyed. Based on same complaints in other reviews, TC's should probably improve its staffing during dinner hours. I think there were maybe 2-3 servers working? Our actual waitress was incredibly nice and helpful. The food was pretty good -- we got a strip steak and split it (though "buddy plate" charges irritate me to no end), and it was relatively delicious -- cooked just how I wanted it. Baked potato was wonderful (hard to mess that up), though the salad was just okay. All in all, a good hearty meal after a looooong day of driving. Based on other reviews, it sounds like you should probably stick with ordering steak here, and avoid the chicken.

Incredibility over priced. French dip sandwich with fries 8.99 was a baguette with three thin slices of roast beef served dry with 15 french fries. No horseradish sauce or Mayo was offered, I asked for horseradish but by the time it arrived the sandwich was cold. The service is horridly slow. The servers stations are either to large or they are poorly trained. It did not help that the under age server could not serve alcohol, wait over 15 minutes for two beers. Had to flag down the hostess to get another around which took another 15 minutes. The staff was pleasant but had no sense of urgency. The food is over priced I would not recommend or return to this restaurant.

My one star is for the super friendly staff! I am traveling here on business with my co-worker. Our hotel sent us to TC's, but unfortunately we learned all Wyoming steaks aren't created equal! We both ordered steak (one filet & one sirloin). The filet had to be sent back as it was VERY rare when we ordered it cooked medium. Both steaks were full of gristle and fat. I didn't eat more than 2 bites of my sirloin. Bad news is, the sirloin was $20, the filet was $29. I've had great steak in this town before and certainly willing to pay for such. This is not it.

Since there isn't an option to leave NO stars I'll give them one. A traveling family of 5 plus a baby had to wait more than 20 minutes (on a Thursday) for a table while 5 tables left and 2 couples were seated. First it was our large table just left, let me make sure it's clean, to I'll be another few minutes three separate times. Unacceptable on all levels. We took out hungry kids elsewhere to eat. Thankfully we are just passing through...there will be no redo here.

This place is over priced. The open faced roast beef sandwich that I ordered was gross. It looked like lunch meat from the pre package area of the grocery store on cheap thin bread with canned gravy. The mashed potatoes had no salt or butter. The waitress was nice enough but the food was very disappointing. I should have read the reviews before stopping.

Great food and service! We love eating here. The food and price is very worth what you are getting.

Clean! Clean tables, Clean restrooms, clean menus (which is rare) Clean salt and pepper shakers ........thank goodness we found a place to eat that is spotlessly clean! The food was delicious! Especially delicious because the place is clean!

TCs had one if the best ribeyes I've had, along with their famous bacon knots. My wife had the Fettucuni Alfredo with Shrimp and enjoyed that as well. The clam chowder had large strips of clam, and was very good. Our server Autumn was very friendly and we felt well cared for. This place is must visit!

A coworker and I recently spent a couple nights in Evanston on business, and stopped into TC's after a semi-desperate Monday evening hunt around Evanston for a place to grab a quick dinner. We were a bit apprehensive, as the exterior didn't look particularly inviting (it is dimly lit and occupies the space of a former, I don't know, Wendy's?), but after two locals recommended the place specifically, we settled on it. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, but the food was really pretty lacking given the prices. I highly recommend the lemonades (also pretty expensive, but unlike the entrees, worth it), as well sampling a bacon knot. Luckily you can get them individually and don't have to commit to a full half dozen order. As far as entrees go, we tried the teriyaki salmon (dear god, pass - it's 'flash frozen' and 'fried to perfection,' but just comes out bland and dry) and the chicken cordon bleu (meh, but edible). All in all, Evanston is a bit of a food desert, and given the options TC's was okay. The friendly service redeemed an otherwise pretty ho-hum meal in an odd environment (they didn't put too much effort into renovating the former fast-food restaurant space).

Very good service from Jett, but VERY disappointed with all the food. The homemade soup tasted canned, the medium rare-medium steak was dry and tough and gray. It was a gnarly cut that I've never seen, full of gristle. Everything tasted packaged or premade, even the chicken breast and baked potato. The chef should watch a season of Kitchen Nightmares and learn about serving fresh food. I hate to bash a restaurant, but it doesn't take that much effort to serve good, fresh food. Hopefully they will mend their ways and improve the quality.

Traveling thru WY, stuck in Evanston due to snow. Had a fantastic, perfectly cooked ribeye. Party with me had an excellent Fettucine with steak. Tried the Bacon Knots. They were fine. Also had fried green bean appetizer which was great. Service was good, but could tell our particular server was very new. They were packed when we left due to all the stranded travelers.

Great chicken-fried steak and excellent service from a young lady named Charley. She recommended the Peppercorn Cheese soup which didn't sound appealing but she assured us that we wouldn't be sorry. She was right. We will be back on our return trip.

Wonderful service. We were on a road trip from Salt Lake City back through Wyoming to the Black Hills, and we were starved. The décor is kind of cheese-ball like a more upscale version of Denny's stuck in 1987, but the waitstaff was wonderful. I was with my friend who's a vegetarian, and we were both craving something fresh like a big salad. Both salads (there were only two on the entire menu) had meat or fish on them and were sort of dated, that sort of early 1980's kind of iceberg style salad. But the waitress went out of her way with the cook in the kitchen to put on extra veggies and stuff to compensate and adjusted the bill and lowered the price since neither of us wanted any kind of meat/fish on our salads and didn't want to pay $14 for a big plate of iceberg lettuce. I also had the cheese soup which was solidly good. Since the waitress was so sweet and accommodating, we left a big tip. They had wine, too. A little over-priced for low-grade wine, but we were so hungry and thirsty we didn't care.

Very friendly staff. Close to many hotels. I had a nice cold beer, a French dip sandwich and some nice conversation at the bar. There is a big snowstorm going through and the bartender whipped out an iPad for my side of the bar with a weather report going. Then he brought out an iPhone and speaker for the patron on the other side of the bar so he could get the weather as well. The beer was perfectly cold. The sandwich was as expected, but the broth was super salty and not too great. Fries were the best part. Wait, the friendly staff was really the best part. I'd go back again.

I ordered the filet medium it came out way overdone I let the waiter know and they replaced it with a med-rare cut that was almost all fat very little real meat! Good luck here!

Had a great dinner. They have a senior menu with smaller portions. We both had the pork chop. Very tender. The corn chowder was wonderful, thick with veggies and a "kick".

We went there for our anniversary while we were on vacation. Not what I was expecting after looking it up on our phone. The place was very hard to find and after getting there, no one was at the podium to greet us. The waitress walk over and seated us. Going over their menu, the only seafood they offered was shrimp. I ordered their steak & shrimp platter. The salad was limp greens and not fresh at all. My steak was fried, not grilled which tasted awful. Steaks should be grilled not fried on a flat surface! The shrimp was also something to be desired. The decor was spanish style but the impression outside was country & western. I can say the service was the only thing that was great. This place needs a make over and cooking help with other stuff on their menu making it a steak & seafood place like it advertises.

The bacon knots are great - but that is about all. Slow service and mediocre food

I'm not very picky and I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. However, this place was pretty awful. I ordered chicken fettuccine and it was actually very tasty except for the microwave-chicken that tasted as bad as it looked. I also had a salad which was nice and fresh, but the price combined with unappetizing main course ruined it.

We came to Evanston and weren't sure what was good, so we called down to the front desk and they recommend TC's family restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice and the workers were very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband ordered the New York steak and I ordered shrimp fettucini Alfredo. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip that the waitress recommended, which was 1/2 off because of happy hour. The dip was good, but they served it with pieces of toast, could have had a better dipping item. The salads were nice and the house dressing was a sweet italian type dressing, very yummy. My husbands steak was ok. Little overdone from how he wanted it. It didn't have any taste and was a little chewy, but overall not bad. My fettucini was very good. The only complaint was that the shrimp was a little fishy. But what can you expect in Wyoming. Overall we would go back again. Nice to go somewhere different and not the same old fast food, while you are the road.

a hidden gem! great good, much more than you would expect on a road trip from Colorado to California; they had a special appetizer of bacon with sugar! that was a delight. the clam chowder was good too, so as the veggie fetocinni; the place look like a regular nothing to write home about diner, but don't let that fool you..its a local gem...big like!

I enjoyed my roast beef and my wife enjoyed her chicken-fried steak. A big plus is the homemade lemonade. What I will remember most about this place, though, is the music they played. Black Sabbath's "Iron Man," followed by some Bing Crosby Christmas jingle. Seriously.

The desk clerk at our hotel recommended TC's and we enjoyed our experience there very much. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan, and I had the Chicken Marsala. I think mine was the better of the two although both were very good. The restaurant is very clean and has a very nice ambiance. We would definitely return here!
