Passing thru I really needed rice and Asian food. Surprisingly enough, this was really good! We had hot & sour soup, Sichuan beef, broccoli & cashews and steamed rice. The waitress laughed when I asked her if they had Chinese broccoli or American broccoli. Okay, I forgot I was in Wyoming! The food was very good! It soothed my soul to have Good Asian food not from a chain!

Definitely a three star Chinese sit down establishment. But relative to other Chinese restaurants, three stars is pretty much all I have ever found so this place met my normal Chinese food expectations. Food came out fast. The sesame seed chicken and the general chicken came out quick but was over cooked and not good. I asked the waitress for a replacement and she kindly took the plates back. Minutes later, two hot plates of pretty decent chicken were brought out. This was more like it! What was almost a one star review became a three star due to good food and friendly service.

The food here was decent, but not great. The waitress did an adequate job but wasn't overly friendly or helpful. I started with their pork wonton soup with "extra goodies." (When I asked her what it meant by "extra goodies" she told me that if I paid a dollar more I got the extra goodies. I had to ask her a second time to get her to tell me that the extra goodies were chunks of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp in the soup.) It was delicious and came out fairly quickly. I recommend the "Extra goodies." For my entree I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It was good, but not great. I didn't hate it, but I have definitely had better. Overall I was satisfied with my meal here, but not overly excited about it. While I will never give a place a higher rating based on how good or bad the other restaurants in the area are, I do have to say that if you are in Evanston and want Chinese food, this place is the only one worth trying. The other Chinese restaurants I found were terrible. 7-20-12: I have ordered their pork wonton soup with extra goodies a few extra times as takeout to eat as lunch at work. I really do like this soup of theirs.

I grew up in Southern California and there are some great Chinese restaurants there. I now live in Utah and good Chinese food is hard to find. So we went to Hunan Gargen for dinner after the Evanston Beerfest this last weekend. To be honest, I really wasn't expecting much...as far as I know, Evanston isn't known for it's Chinese cuisine. I was very happily surprised when the food arrived at our table. The hot and sour soup was delicious as were the rest of the dishes we tried. This was some of the best Chinese food we've had since leaving SoCal. And it wasn't just the beer from Beerfest talking (I took some leftovers home and ate them for lunch the next day and it was awesome). The service was also good and I give them extra credit for putting up with our large group after beerfest. I'd definitely recommend Hunan Garden if you're in Evanston.

Got there about 740 pm, they were very animate about their 8pm closing time, which forced us to get it to go. Got the Mongolian beef. I like onions, but it was a little but rediculous. It was more like Mongolian onion. The noodles and rice that came with the come was good. First time and last time going there that's for sure.

We stopped here for dinner while passing trough town. My father ordered peppered lamb, which he said was good (and looked very tasty). I have a gluten allergy and Chinese is a bit of a nightmare for that with soy sauce in almost everything. I ordered sushi- not the wisest choice in WY but I am no stranger to mediocre grocery-store type sushi. The fish came out alarmingly warm and did not appear to have been refrigerated. The tuna had a funny coloring and looked old, and both rolls I ordered had a strange taste like bad fish. I did not eat it and would definitely not recommend the sushi here. If you visit, stick with Chinese.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
