It was OK. Not much flavor and the spare ribs were too firm/tough. I really think they were passing off a roast as brisket (at least during my visit). I asked the server about the cut of beef, but he insured me it was brisket. I wouldn't come back here on my own. I took the leftover "Brisket" home to have a better look and asked some friends about this place and their so-called "brisket". They even said it's not brisket. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash this place. The BBQ Roast was actually pretty good. They should just call it "Roast" instead of "Brisket" and charge accordingly. Another dead giveaway that the cut of beef wasn't brisket was the size of the cut. It was over 1inch thick and fell apart just like a roast. And FYI. I've travelled this country for business the last 20 years and have been to countless real BBQ joints. So I know my cuts of meat!

Aside from the slow service (they have two hostesses and one waitress...wtf) and the constant swarm of flies buzzing around, the food here was actually good. The bbq chicken was on the drier side but had nice flavor. The bbq beans were really tasty and the cole slaw was passable. I was itching to try out the salad bar the whole time, but the options for the salad bar made no sense, seeing as it was tiny and I would have assumed that such a small salad bar would simply be included in every meal. Oh well.

First of all, really great waiter! Prompt and attentive. Large portions here! I had the brisket which was very tender. Also, loved the salad bar. My husband got the ribs and said they were very good. Cole slaw is meh but really liked the baked beans and potato salad. Had so much food we had to get a large take out box. A good choice when you are in Cody.

Enjoyable dinner. Seemed like a real family and local place. I expressed disappointment about not seeing buffalo burger on the menu and was assured no problem, we can do that for you! As busy as they were, service was reasonably prompt. Tasty ribs (could use more sauce); wild game and buffalo sausages were good too. Really good baked beans.

All U can eat salad bar was worth the $10.50 as there was cheese, bacon, many toppings like pasta salad, broc salad, etc as well as fruit salad & bread pudding. Pulled pork sandwich was one of the better ones we have had. Friendly service. Would go back again.

The food was cold, I found a bone in my pulled chicken. The only saving grace was the waitress. She was great about comping our meal (we had to send food back twice; I'm not going to eat cold chicken) but she was such a sweetheart.

Great food! Pulled pork is amazing!!

So I know some people don't like Bubba's, but we had a great meal. The ribs, chicken, and turkey were all supper yummy. The corn was a little soggy, but the bean, o-man, excellent! Given the general pricing of restaurants around town, this is a bargain.

Bubba's is outstanding! We started with the barbecued chicken and over the course of our stay in Cody had quite a few pulled pork sandwiches with fries. The portions were enough to satisfy our healthy American appetites and the food was wonderful. My wife is forthrightly picky about her BBQ and was very happy with Bubba's. The people at Bubba's were as good as the food, and the restaurant itself was attractive and comfortable.

Fast service, ribs are decent though lathered with a bit too much sauce. BBQ chicken was a bit dry for my liking. Overall, the meal was decent and have to say that once the excess sauce is removed (with a help of a knife), the meat was delish. Though, the chicken was a bit of a lost cause.

Their BBQ here is pretty good. Not the best I have had but for the price I would take this over the BBQ at the Rib & Chop House. The ambiance here is very casual and family style. Salad bars are hard to come by in Cody, this had to be my favorite. I would come here more for the salad bar than the BBQ (it's Cody, you get plenty of meat out here and not enough veggies). It was fresh with several fresh topping choices (but don't expect Souper Salad). Clean, friendly service and good quality food, what more could ya ask...

Hand's down the best BBQ in Wyoming. There are two Bubba's, one in Jackson and one in Cody... the Jackson location edges out the win. I haven't had anything here I didn't like, but my favorite would have to be the BBQ chicken. Regardless of what you order, make sure you get their "Rib Sauce" on the side!

We ate here while passing through from Yellowstone to Sheridan, WY and we were pleased! The portions were huge, they had a really decent salad bar, and the prices were very reasonable for a touristy town like Cody. And we had the corn nuggets as an appetizer and they were delicious! We would definitely stop here again - the food, service, and prices were all great!

Delicious! I'm from Kansas City and we know good bbq. The brisket was thick cut and perfect - brisket is the hardest meat to cook right and usually is so dry but this was great. The beans are sweet and and all the food was piping hot and arrived fast. My waitress was super nice but disappeared at the end and ok had to ask for my check up front. The bbq sauce is sweet, too, but was good. I love spicy bbq sauce and their spicy version was too mustardy for my taste but I'm sure others love it. I'll definitely be going back!

Below average- as per our experience that day. They do have a good salad bar. The pulled pork ordered was horrible, not a drop of any flavour. The sides were not worth mentioning either. Settings are above average, and people seem to go to this place for that kind of thing.

We have been fans of Bubba's since they originally opened in Cody. They had excellent BBQ. Then the business was sold and the food and service slowly deteriorated. We stopped eating there. Now under new ownership, we tried it again. We were pleasantly surprised. Had baby back ribs and chicken. Both were good. BBQ sauce is a little sweeter now, but still good. Meat had good flavor and was moist. Only one server and she was swamped. Not the original Bubba's, but still good. We'll be back. It's the next morning and we are still in Cody. Bubba's is serving breakfast again. It was great. Easily the best breakfast in Cody. Highly recommend it. Because of breakfast I am raising the review from 3 to 4 stars.

Stopped here on the tail end of a long drive through Yellowstone. The salad bar is gross: think mountains of iceberg, yellow tomatoes, and way too much ranch dressing. The barbecue is great. I don't even remember what I got (beef?), but my girlfriend's turkey sandwich was filled with some of the most succulent, perfectly moist poultry I've ever come across. The sauce was tangy and just sweet enough. I would drive through Cody again just to come here.

We love Bubba's Bar-B-Que... Whenever we stay in Cody we eat here. The portions you get are Big and you always leave with food leftover. The Menu is reasonably priced too with many items and also has a kids menu.

The McRib at McDonalds is better than the ribs here. I thought Wyoming was known for their ribs. service was ok.

  • Ms. Tilly P.

There was a big line and it's easy to see why. It's also worth the wait. The staff checked on us a couple times while we were waiting and the attentive service continued during dinner. My ice tea never got below half full. The barbecue beef was good, not spectacular but good. The chicken was excellent -- all smoky with a glaze of perfect sauce. The sides were so generous we had no room for a salad bar. It is a down-home, unpretentious place with reasonable prices, large portions and good food.

  • Jessica H.

Stopped here while traveling back from Yellowstone. Nice atmosphere, service was a little lacking but the salad bar was great. Best salad bar I've seen in all of Wyoming actually. It even had bread puddin gon it! I had the pulled chicken sandwich and baked beans. There were some gross parts of my meat but I know I'm picky so whatever.

  • Joe B.

There is really only one reason to dine at Bubba's and that is the salad bar. The folks in Cody like their meat and potatoes so after a week in the town I was desperate for a veggie of some kind and Bubba's does a pretty good job with that. Other than that, the smoked meats are ok and their sides are best left on their plates.

  • Lauren W.

I went to Bubba's after week on backpacking on trail mix and I could not have hoped for a more satisfying meal at a reasonable price. The brisket was so tender it melted in your mouth, the service was extremely attentive and friendly, and there was a good selection of beers on tap. Totally pleased and will definitely be back next time I'm passing through the area.

Have been to Bubba's twice 2006 and 2008. Enjoyed their BBQ very much. . Food was good, plentiful and affordable. Lots of locals in for cold beers and lunch or dinner. Would recomend if traveling to Yellowstone National Park, only a few miles from east entrance.

  • Jackie D.

Brisket and pulled pork were overdone and resembled jerky. The service was good, and they tried really hard, but the food was simply substandard - especially considering Wyoming's reputation for good BBQ. If you go, get the chicken - it was good, but they only had enough for two orders - the rest of us had to go without.

  • N J.

Horrible experience... The waitress forgot to put in our order. After 35 mins of waiting she realized her mistake, we asked for the appetizer to be removed, would have left but the family was starving. After all of that we got $3.17 off our meal...The owner claimed she would COMP one of the meals, didn't happen . Would NOT ever go back, we weren't being picky but I guess the owner is not to worried about making sure we were taken care of since she will have the tourist business no matter what! Boo! Never again!

Better beer than you'd expect in this big, popular, working class, midwest meathouse. Better meat than most of them offer, too. Sides were decent except for the midwest's obligatory white balloon bread (aka garlic bread in this case) and some soggy corn on the cob that had been kept warm too long. Lots of food for reasonable prices.

  • Alexandra W.

It was just ok. I too did not care for the "pulled" chicken. It's only so so, so I recommend trying elsewhere.

had the biscutes and gravey came out cold and when sent back was told 120 is considered hot. will not be going there anytime again soon.

Yummy! Famous for their tangy bbq sauce which I was unable to buy, Bubba's Bar-B-Que is reputedly the best barbecue in town.. try the spicy smoked meat dishes (Beef brisket) or the barbecue chicken.... I bought 4 of their original sauce, looking forward to firing up my grill and cook me som ribs... Kid's menu is great.. lots of selections Service is excellent, friendly, and the atomosphere is casual... you must go there early to eat or wait in a long long line...it can be very very crowded.

I expected more from Wyoming. I guess those cowboys didn't know how to barbecue. :) This really wasn't any better than what you might get at a cafeteria. I did try corn nuggets, though - which were very interesting. Kinda like fried creamed corn. Don't do the salad bar, everything is kinda gross. Except the ambrosia salad. That was not gross.

I love the cowboy western theme definitely works well with buffalo bill and the western frontier. Wood decor, wagon wheels, the works. I only had a burger to know the rest of their food is good. I also had the burger dry rubbed w/cheddar cheese & a side of fries. What else could I say it was cooked perfect medium, the cheese wasn't burnt & the bbq sauce was perfect spicy and sweet tang taste I didn't leave a drop of bbq sauce. Having had their ribs before I left Yellowstone they were a little tough but still better than any commercial chain like chilies. I have no idea why but this place should have a four star or higher rating, food amazing, service was quick it basically sells itself. This place will see me more often so I can try the rest of their ribs. If their burger is a preview into the rest of their menu I won't be disappointed.

This restaurant is very popular. We noticed they closed at 9:00pm, but we arrived just before closing time. Great food & friendly staff! Extremely busy for a Wednesday night. I would eat here again next time I travel through Cody, Wyoming.

  • Amy C.

Meh. I had the spareribs and my husband had a burger. Some of the ribs were tough and some were okay. Certainly not standout. The burger was average. We had cole slaw, potato salad and corn on the cob. The corn was probably the best. Neither the cole slaw or the potato salad seemed to have much thought or pride put in to them. They're on par with the stuff from the grocery store.

Not Bad. Pretty good BBQ chicken (1/2 chicken a bit on the smaller side). The girls had burgers They seemed happy with them. The server forgot to bring our salad bar plates till after our meal arrived. My wife declined her salad, I ate mine while my meal got cold. Salad bar gets an A plus. The best Part was ordering Rocky mountain Oysters and Not telling my daughter's and niece what it was until after they had enjoyed them. Priceless road trip memories

Brisket was dry and had a hair in it. Pulled pork was ok. The turkey wrap was good and a trip to salad bar with meal was spendy. Not overly impressed. Hubby makes better.

Eat here if you like bbq sauce with all your meats They were all dry and cold when served to me not the usual smokey mesquite bbq I'm used to from Texas or st Louis. Ribs were the better of the three and I'll leave it at that Great staff friendly and courteous !!!!!

  • Madison V.

The atmosphere was perfect for a true BBQ joint. The prices were reasonable. The service was fine. Portions were large, but I felt like the meat was a bit dry. The meat also came sliced without the sauce on it. The sauce on the side was nothing special.

We were traveling eastward and wanted some good Wyoming BBQ.... The food was fantastic!! Our waitress was excellent! The only complaint I had is that our food took too long to come out. We were extremely hungry, and our young kids had to sit and wait with us. Other than that, it was a great experience!

Stopped here after visiting Yellowstone and on the way to Mt Rushmore. Service was very good. Food came out quick. I got the pulled pork with potato salad. Both were excellent. The Texas toast was amazing. I ordered another piece. The cook even gave me some scraps for my dogs.

Driving from Yellowstone to Denver and stopped in Cody for a night. Heard about Bubba's and took a shot. Good thing I did. Service was great. Food was better. My wife had the pulled pork and I had the beef brisket. Both were tasty and neither of us could finish it.

When we were planning for dinner in Cody it was 'Bubba's or bust!' but as it turns out "Bubba's WAS a bust!' My husband had been looking forward to taking me there on our cross country trip. He had taken several school classes there in the past. The service and food quality THEN were exellent and the portions so large he would have 2 students share one dinner. These portions have shrunk substantially since then. This may be due to a change in ownership 3 years ago. I got 1.5 small spare ribs as a Senior portion with barely any meat covered with a watery barbecue sauce. I chose a side salad which was very simple and was called a 'special side' for an extra $2.19 bringing my dinner to 10.99 for not much of anything. After looking forward to it while crossing several states it was a sore disappointment.

Baby backs were tough. Server no where to be gound. Cashier knew of subpar quality of ribs. Lousy just plain lousy. No regard for customer

Sticky menu, table and floor should have been our first sign that this was not going to be a good experience Smoked turkey and brisket was flavorless except for the sauce which was too sweet as were the beans Coleslaw was just cabbage and a little mayo

    (1)
  • Government Jack G.

Meat was dry with too much sauce. Very small portions. You have to order a meal with sides and a piece of disgusting garlic bread. Meat not sold by the pound.

  • Clair M.

Food was ok BBQ was dry and soaked in a sweet sauce, applied before serving. Rocky Mountain Oysters were ok not not best I have had. Corn was good as was service. I would return but would look elsewhere first

  • Bob M.

I don't have any real complaints about it. they did a great job on the on the chicken it was funny that she would the waitress would say that the chicken would be a little bit red naturally because of the smoke ring and everything but I did notice that it was a little bit bloody near the bone. The food was overall delicious I had the combo and the ribs were fantastic

  • Mary S.

This place is delicious. Their breakfast is amazing. Biscuits and gravy are to die for. So are the sweet cream pancakes. They have the best salad bar in town and the BBQ is super tasty. Also, they are on restaurant.com .

We got here late after driving from Mt Rushmore but it was worth the trip! Excellent ribs and pulled pork, there is no comparison anywhere northeast of here on this continent. They were very helpful when we called ahead to ask if we could still eat if we arrived a few minutes after the official 10 PM closing time. Great service, good moosedrool beer!

  • Rebekah P.

Went to this place based on the good reviews. I was supremely disappointed. My boyfriend got a rack of ribs. They came out dry and overcooked. My daughter ordered the steak which was tolerable. My beef brisket was decent. The one part of the meal that was worth it was the spicy bbq sauce. For two adults and two kids meal was over 100 with tip. Definitely not worth the price. If we ever go back to Cody we will not eat there again.

After a long day on the road, July 4th, we were tired and hungry. The waitress was kind and quick, and the food was hot and yummy. The baked beans were out of this world. The smoked turkey was a little dry, but the brisket and ribs were cooked perfectly. A fun place to bring the family!
