I often try the menudo when I eat at a new place. Menudo is usually good; but I lucked out here - it was delicious. They provided chips to start with, and a thin but tasty salsa, and a bean tip. Good beans, though tasted like made with lard, so no good for vegetarians. Luckily I'm not a vegetarian. I was quite satisfied with the meal.

My favorite Mexican food restaurant in Cheyenne. Good food with generous portions. The tortilla soup is outstanding. Kid friendly and outstanding service.

The fact that this place provides good mexican food in Cheyenne, WY is great! More importantly the atmosphere and decor is realistic. Being hispanic myself; being able to place orders in spanish and converse with the waiters is great, and they also are well educated in english; therefore avoiding the usual number menus .

Eaten here 8-12 times a year sine 2006 and have never been disappointed. Service is top notch and food is always delicious

Some menu items are better than others. I loved the ground beef tostada. I also ordered a carne asada taco which was dried out and pretty flavorless. The salsa is watery but the bean dip is good. My mother and brother ordered enchiladas and rice and both loved it. The refried beans are really good.

Very good food. Had the steak torreo slightly over cooked but tender. Good staff, would go back again.

Great food. I love the Chicken with the green poblano sauce. They also have a great Italian Rita (margarita made with Amaretto). The service was great, very attentive. Will definitely eat there again.

My brother and I stopped here on our way across crountry. Teresa was a wonderful waitress for us, and the food was awesome! I had a peach margarita, and that certainly was great, too. I ate some carne asada, and was very pleased with the flavor, texture, and the quantity of food. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone desiring great, authentic Mexican food!

I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised at the food and decor of the place. Restaurant itself was clean and very well decorated. The free salsa and bean dips were pretty good. We ordered from the "specials" menu, which was still reasonably priced. I had the fish tacos, which was very good. The fish was seared versus breaded and fried which made the tacos pretty light and not heavy (like I expected) the slaw and avocado on top of the fish was fresh and tasty also. Had flan for dessert... decent. Overall very good, I'd definitely go back again. One of the more authentic Mexican restaurants I've experienced.

Had my family of 4 here in July 2015 while attending the Cheyenne rodeo. From WI. My wife had the seafood burrito - expensive (14) but you get bottomless chips, salsa AND bean dip - and the burrito was awesome! Scallops and prawns inside, seafood white sauce over the top -mmm. I had the deluxe burrito and it was a great amount of food with good taste for the price. My kids (6 and 9) weren't into the full Mexican taco thing yet, so we had beef and cheese only for them. Worked out ok. The deep fried ice cream dessert was HUGE - more than enough for 4 ppl, 5 bucks. Asked for 4 spoons, kids loved it. Atmosphere is great and festive, lots of families here. We got out with entrees and a table dessert for about 50. I'd come here again.

My husband and I stopped through Cheyenne (on our way to Utah from Buffalo, NY), and we jumped on the opportunity for authentic Mexican (as it is scarce in Buffalo). My husband is from Texas, so he knows a good plate of Mexican. We cannot stop raving about this place. The flavors in each dish were so dynamic and different from the Mexican fare we were either used to. It was delicious and the portions were generous. Only disappointment was the loooong walk to the restrooms. Normally I'd have been grateful to stretch my legs after all the driving, but I was carrying a poopy baby, so... you know.

We went here as a second choice because the first restaurant was packed. It was Friday at 8:00 and there was no wait. We got our chips and salsa right away and then we waited and waited for our waiter to take our order. It looked like he had 4 other tables around us; 2 just got their checks and 2 was just getting their food. So he was pretty busy. He then took our order and we got our food quickly. The soft tacos were really messy. The corn tortillas fell apart, they should have doubled up on the tortillas. They were still good even though I needed a bib. The steak torero was really good. A sirloin steak with grilled onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms on top. It came with flour tortillas. It was like eating fajitas without the sizzling plate (which I hate) and the steak was tender and easy to bite.

The food is amazing. I only call a restaurant Mexican is it tastes like my family made it and I swear they must work here. You can't get more authentic than this. The beans taste like my Mom made them. BIEN HECHO!!!

What is surprise Cheyenne! We've been looking for great Mexican food all over Colorado and we found it in Wyoming. Fresh food, excellent service, reasonable prices. It's worth the drive north

Our second visit to this amazing restaurant. Great, classic Mexican food. Highly recommend the cheese crispie and the spinach enchiladas. I am a vegetarian. My husband loved the carne asada. Called it "the very definition of carne asada." Will definitely be back.

We were in Cheyenne for business and wanting something unique to the area... So naturally we chose a Mexican restaurant. Needless to say, we were managing our expectations. Mexican places back in Utah are a dime a dozen, and they all taste pretty much the same. Unless you go to the Red Iguana which is known for its homemade Moles. But I digress. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the festive decor. We also liked that many of the tables were booths (which.. Who doesn't love booths right?). Upon sitting we were given the traditional chips and salsa, along with something that was new to us, a small bowl of their refried beans. Sweet heavens, I would bathe in those beautiful beans. Most refried beans taste like paste, but these fantastic frijoles had a fatty flavor that floored us both. And if that alliteration wasn't enough, they bring you as many refills as you'd like! Even though we could have easily made a full meal of chips and pork-tastic beans, we went ahead and ordered a combo fajita platter and the trio enchilada plate. Both were awesome! Each of the sauces tasted homemade (refreshing change from the canned stuff). Here is the kicker... Their Mole ALMOST made me forget my precious Iguana back home..... Almost. From the meat to the sauces, the flavors were unique and on point. If nothing else, come for the beans.

Wow, have not been here for years, but this place has improved in every way. The place is clean and fresh and the atmosphere is great. Service was exemplary and the food is the best Mexican I have had in Cheyenne or for that matter, pretty much anywhere. Beautifully presented plates came out hot and fresh with wonderful flavors that showed obvious pride in preparation. Then the bill came, wow $15/ head including beers, really tremendous value. We will be back! Often!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in cheyenne. Their bean dip is delicious and their fish tacos are to die for as well as their enchiladas verdes. Overall this is a great restaurant with delicious at a reasonable price, the service is always great, and the atmosphere is lovely!!

In Cheyenne for work with a colleague and came across this place! It had been a long travel day so we didn't research and just went in...sometimes the dinner gods are just in your corner! The decor is definitely festive and over the top but its cute and welcoming. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and attentive! I had the shrimp fajitas (they let me substitute black beans for the standard refried) and my colleague had a burrito. Both were excellent and super sized as far as portions go! The salsa wasn't very good (very runny) but they also give you beans for dipping! Will probably go back for lunch or dinner while here!

So tasty! Great place for lunch and reasonably priced with generous portions. Of course the bean dip is delicious and we also enjoyed the shredded chicken enchilada. A great place to stop when in Cheyenne.

The bean dip that everyone else on here raves about is good but it's nothing to write home about. I got the Burrito Loco with chicken. The guacamole and the rice were fantastic as was the green salsa and cheese topping. However, the chicken had a burned taste that I just couldn't get over. I ended up slicing the burrito open and picking out the chicken. My Corona was served with a fat juicy slice of lime and a frosted glass which was great. The service was great too. But that chicken sucked enough to take this from 5 to 3 stars.

I had the flautas which is there version of taquitos. You get to choose between beef or chicken I chose the beef it's served with beans and rice. Also underneath them their is guacamole, sour cream and shredded lettuce. It was quite busy. Service was top notch as always fast and friendly. They give you beans ,salsa and chips as soon as you sit down.

Two words: seafood burrito. I daydream about it. This is our go-to place in Cheyenne for a casual sit-down or to bring family and other out-of-towners. Never disappoints. My toddler is a huge fan of the bean dip (as we all are) and the dozen or more times we've been here the food has been outstanding. Large portions, great prices, friendly service. The cucumber margarita is top notch. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. If you're super hungry and want a large variety of meats and fish with veggies try the molcajete! The lovely shrimp ceviche tostada is a tangy, spicy dish if you want lighter fare. Save room for dessert!

I don't wanna be biased because I'm Mexican but....Great service, fast and attentive. Food was great. I'm from California and this was by far the best wet burrito I've had. The carne asada was not flat and thin, it was thick, juicy and amazing. The refried bean dip was a plus too, I've never had it as a dip before.

Dropped in during a trip to Cheyenne recently. Granted it was a Monday afternoon so not very busy but great service and amazing food! The service was quick and friendly, not too pushy about the fact that I only ever really order water when I go out to eat. Some places the server immediately becomes distant when they hear that's all I want to drink. I get it because that's a big part of the check at the end and affects their tip, but I try to make up for it by being a good tipper for good service. The food selection was pretty good and I was happy to see a whole section dedicated to the Chimichanga which is hard to find at a lot of mexican restaurants. The food was awesome, prepped amazingly and brought out quickly. Thank you for a great meal!

I hesitate giving this restaurant one star, only because that's way more credibility than it deserves. Seriously, this place is horrible. Starting with the salsa and gravy they put on the table, to the main meal. I left the restaurant feeling terrible, and with high hopes that I wouldn't puke on the way back to the hotel. One of the locals at the hotel asked us where we went to dinner. When I told them Guadalajara, they said "oh, you must be from out of town, hardly anyone goes there." Enough said.

Excellent food, I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Cheyenne since I came back 4 years ago, I found it. I tried it because there is a restaurant in fort collins called Honcenda Family Restaurant, that I love, they recommended it, glad I tried it.

Food has always been good. Depending on who you get service is good to ok. Get the grande beer, and their green sauce is amazing.

WOW that was the best burrito I think I've ever had. The carne asada was perfectly cooked and the beans and rice were fantastic. If I come to Cheyenne again this will be the first place I go

Not fsncy, just real. I sat at the bar alone. Friendly service, Ice Cold Dos Equis and authentic Mexican food ...in Wyoming. I had the Mariscos Jorochos. Amazing! Great job!

The mole sauce is really well done. The portions are decent sized. Unfortunately, this visit we had overlooked chips. The salsa and bean dip were okay however. The order was quickly made. And I was surprised at how affordable the meal actually was. I would come back. This is one of the better Mexican choices in town.

I was not overly impressed with the food by any means. I had chicken enchiladas with cream sauce. Bland with a side of bland. A chili rellano with green chili sauce which again was very bland. Over all no flavor but the wait staff was quite sweet.

Delicious! I usually order chili rellenos and was very surprised. It was the best I have ever had. My husband had a tamale and it was the best he's ever had. The chips are made there fresh everyday and you can tell. They were outstanding. The salsa was good and hot. I recommend this for all who wNt extra good Mexican.

We go here for Mexican food in cheyenne. Their margaritas are great and their chips are always hot and fresh. I would recommend the cheese dip chimichanga...I have a hard time ordering anything else! Service is usually on point!

Colorful atmosphere. Unlimited chips, though the accompanying red sauce and beans did not excite. Food was pretty good, but the loco burrito with carne Asada was nothing special. What made the burrito good was a side of Pico de gallo (nice with a hint of heat). The tortilla soup was a good choice.

Very tasty Mexican food. They have a large and varied menu. If you leave hungry it is your own fault

  • Peggie S.

Beautiful decor. Service was wonderful, chips and salsa were kept stocked. Good value for your dollar and good food. We had 2 entrees, one was the shredded beef chimichanga and the other was a 3 burrito combo- one shredded pork, one chicken and one ground beef. All were delicious. Will definately be back!

  • Briles S.

Chips were okay. Salsa tasted and had the consistency of V8 juice with Tabasco or other hot sauce poured in. Bean dip was better. Special today was Mexican Stir Fry so my husband got that. It was amazing. The broccoli in it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had had a pork chimi. The green chili was okay, but not the best I've ever had. I am full and satisfied. Restaurant staff was not rude, but not friendly either. Service was slow and there was no "busser" who also keeps up with drinks and chips which is rare for Mexican places. My husband and I had empty glasses until I stopped someone passing by. That was our one and only refill.

This satisfies enough. A few veg options, which is nice. Presentation is your old-school tex-mex style of rice on one end of an oval plate, beans on the other, main whatev (be it enchi, relleno, burrito) in the middle, smothered in sauce (well, burrito's aren't ever smothered in Texas, that's some kind of Rocky Mountain convention), topped with cheese. Guac was serviceable but bland, is it possible for it to be half fresh? Meaning, they gussied up some of that squeeze-from-a-baggie Avo-Guaca with a few chunks of fresh avocado and two pieces of diced tomato? They did provide 'bean dip' with the (serviceable) chips n' salsa, but turns out there was no difference between 'bean dip' and the refried beans on my entree plate. It's not innovative, it's not particularly fresh, it's not very spicy, and a lot of it tastes all the same. But, it is possible to be satisfied enough here to not have to take the 40mi trip down to Ft Collins for... wait for it... The Rio.

Great complementary salsa, bean dip, chips, and pico de gallo while waiting for dinner, and very quick on filling the baskets of chips, etc. Good food - I wasn't too hungry and had the cactus, it's a cold dish, good with the bean dip and chips. Folks with me had various burritos and one tried a salad. All good, good green chile sauce on one of the burritos - had tomatillos and great tangy taste. Good option for dinner in Cheyenne as they stay open later than some other places. Only draw back was the very slow service - maybe that's why we enjoyed the chips and dips so much.

This place seems to exist in a time/matter continuum as I ate and ate but my plate never seemed to empty! Friendly and attentive service. Some vegetarian options, which I appreciate. (Spinach Enchilada, Grilled seasonal veggie burrito- not just canned veggie "afterthought" items.) More sodium than I would add to my own food at home but no more than can be expected while eating out. The food was fantastic, the portions are large (My husband declared his meal as the "Dirk Diggler of burritos"), salsa and bean dip upon seating was appreciated, and the margarita was hand mixed from real ingredients (Lime juice, Grand Marnier, etc.) *Their "regular" margarita is made from a mix. If you want a lower sugar, better tasting drink, order the "Classic" Margarita. It's $6.75 but very tasty and it comes with a shaker full of extra margarita. Neither my husband nor myself could finish our entire margarita. *Some items would be vegan friendly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
