Amazing! I love steak... and have had steak all over the world... and this is some good steak! The value is also a huge selling point. While its not cheap the meal I had would have been at least twice the price in a major city. The staff is friendly... it was a really nice experience. Sure the decor is not fancy... but I was not really expecting that when I walked into the joint. Not sure if or when I will ever be back in this part of the country but if I am I would love to go back. Its very good!

You won't find a steakhouse like this in where i'm from in California! Holy Crap this place is freaking Delicious! My Co-worker and i were in town with FEMA/SBA for the flooding that took place in early June! I asked all the locals where the best steakhouse was and they all listed this place as their number one!! They also told me to call and make reservations (preferred seating.) During the weekdays i believe they are only open 4 hours a night! I was told that they average 350 people a night! Ridiculous! The staff was super polite and professional too! I went in wanting one thing and one thing only, The King cut prime rib! I thought the service was excellent, quick and efficient, Our server's name was Joni! She was great! She knew her beers as well! Also it's worth mentioning, who ever does the hiring for this place must only have two standards, Excellent customer service and good looking! There wasn't an eye soar in the place! After we ordered i expected a 15-20 minute wait time for the food, BOY was i wrong about that! My prime rib was on my table within 5-7 minutes! I was totally shocked! My prime rib came with a side salad (had a choice of soup) Also had steak fries! (Had a choice of a baked potato or mashed potatoes as well! I can't get over how freaking huge my prime rib was! It must of been nearly 3 inches thick and cooked rare to perfection! The horse radish was great! The prime rib was basking in a plate full of Au jus sauce! It soaked right into the meat and made every bite that much better! I also recommend the Old Faithful beer on tap, it's a light beer but really good! Can't wait to go back next week and try this place again! Check out my pictures below!

We enjoyed our experience. We split the king sized prime rib and the waitress brought an extra plate. It was so much food, we even took some home! Three meals outta one! They bring some good bread and scones and a stick of butter. We split the salad and baked potato. Like I said, plenty of food for two people and then some. And it was all very good and cooked to our medium rare request. The waitress was efficient and pleasant and busy! The only neg was the lights occasionally would dim. Maybe 20-25 times during the 45 minutes we were there. It was a noticeable annoyance. We came here after hiking out at Cloud Peak. Very beautiful. Perfect weather,

After camping at Yellowstone for a couple of days we stayed in Buffalo for the evening. Was looking for a nice place to have dinner and relax, so I turned to Yelp. I was warned up front that it was a little pricey. The restaurant is nothing fancy. It was packed for a Tuesday evening. Food was good, not great. Service needs work for this price range and decor. My drink was wrong, and my water glass was never refilled. They also forgot my side. My wife's steak and one of my son's steaks were switched. Prime Rib was salty. It may have been the Au Jus, which tasted like beef bouillon it was so salty. Overall the meal wasn't bad, just over-priced .

Highly overrated! Chicken pot pie was certainly not "world famous" and chicken fried steak was average at best. Service was good but food was not!

Definitely. Was running through here on the way to Montana and stopped in for dinner, pretty late, about a half hour from closing time. We were the last or next to last party served. Frankly, I was expecting that to be sub-optimal, but was pleasantly surprised. Food was great. My end cut prime was perfectly cooked and even though I got the smaller one, they loaded me up with what fed me that night and the next day, for lunch. My wife's meal was equally excellent. Good, old school, family steak place with big, fresh everything. Staff was very friendly and divvied up the waitstaff duties with the table bussing. Will be a "must stop," every time I ride through Wyoming.

This was excellent. The meals come with soup or salad. the 10 Oz sirloin steak was fantastic. Prepared just as we wanted, potato and mushrooms included. We were so happy with this find. Lastly, service was attentive and warm.

Service is great, food is average and very over priced. Restaurant has seen better days and is in need of a deep cleaning. There are big dust balls on the ceiling and the walls need a good scrubbing.

Love this restaurant! Its always packed especially during weekend, so make reservation if you want to be seated immediately. The bread basket is always fresh and awesome. French Onion soup is delicious, one of the beast onion soup I have ever tried. Prime rib-one of my most favorite here- is flavorful and amazing, but it is not very tender though. The mushrooms came with meal taste like canned mushroom, I don't like them at all. Mashed potato is very good!

Driving thru Buffalo and Yelp wins again. Winchester Steak House was awesome!! Ordered the chicken zingers because I read it in one of the prior reviews. Best tasting buffalo chicken with a sweet & sour kick. Shared the Char-grilled ribeye with my husband. One of the best steaks we have had on our trip thru 6 states. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. If driving thru Buffalo, make this a stop.

The food was very good. The atmosphere was nice. The servers were polite. The one huge issue was the FLIES. They were flying all around the dinning room. There were several flying around our table, landing everywhere. We were constantly waving our hands around. My party ended up leaving early, because the flies were such a nuisance.

We came to Buffalo for Longmire Days and everyone we spoke with said the Winchester was THE place for great steaks. Boy were they right! Both the wife and I had the char grilled rib-eye, baked potato, salad with the baked onion soup as appetizers. The steaks were seasoned and grilled expertly, the potatoes were done just right, the salads had the freshest ingredients and the soups were the best ever! We were also given a basket of different hot homemade breads with real butter. All this tasted like it was made in Heaven! The only thing that you should do is make a reservation at least 2 hours ahead because this place gets very busy and packed from 5 pm on. The attire is casual but the service is high class. Chef Ramsay would love this steakhouse because it is no kitchen nightmare!!!!

We were in town for a few days and stopped here on our last night before heading back to CA. We were very impressed with the food quality here, everything was delicious!! My husband got the prime rib rare/med rare, it was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. I had the porterhouse, it was also delicious. The wedge salad was the best I've ever had!! (Candied pecans and fresh cooked bacon!) Wine list was decent and fairly priced. We would definitely come here again and highly recommend it. Thanks for the great dinner Winchesters!

Go there! It is a delicious place for beef. Good service, wonderful prime rib and rib eye. Definitely on the go again list. Sides were great too. The wine selection was ok too.

Excellent meal, prompt service, attentive waiter. We split a meal (chicken pot pie) and there was more than enough for both of us. The waiter volunteered to split it for us and it was fun to watch him do it by our table. The dessert,a lemon cake that we also split was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return to this restaurant. There were a large number of people in the restaurant but service was very fast.

Best restaurant in US. No, make that the world. We travel out west twice a year and always plan a stop in Buffalo just so we can eat here. Sophisticated food in an atmosphere that won't give you a headache. All the fish entrees are wonderful, as well as the steaks. Bread basket is to die for. Wait staff is calmly competent.

I was in Buffalo last year for a month and ate here at least 2 times a week. In back again for a month and Winchester was my first stop. We ordered one of the Wednesday night specials, Top Serloin sliced in au jus. The dishes were smothered with salt so we sent them back and ordered 2 new dishes, deep fried shrimp and stuffed shrimp. About half of the deep fried shrimp were not completely peeled and they were hidden in an abundance of batter. I'm very disappointed because of my experience last year. We will not return.

Excellent food, excellent service. The rolls are amazing. Don't miss out on this place!

Good. Really the only restaurant in Buffalo. You go to the other places when Winchester is closed. If you can't get a table, then your next best place is McDonalds. I like the pepper steak. Halibut is good. You may have to wait a while for a table, but what else you gonna do. Prime rib is a good choice. Don't be surprised to hear loud belching across the room, if you do, it's just a local. Have fun and relax. It's Wyoming.

My husband and I were in buffalo for a few days because my husband was working here and we were told we must try the oysters at this place at the very least. We got there and everyone was very friendly and the place was packed! We sat down had a drink while we waited then got seated and right away we got a bread basket with biscuits that were to die for, you never get biscuits at home in CO. Everything we had was amazing and we will make the drive again for those oysters. I had the sea scallops and my husband had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. Even the soup was delicious! The waitress was spot on as well. I will be talking about this place for a while!

We had another wonderful meal at the Winchester. We discovered the restaurant 2 years ago and made sure to stop over in Buffalo so we could eat here again and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the prime rib is the best we have had anywhere in our travels around the great USA. We had so much fun with the young man who had been our server the first time. Thank you Andrew for the smiley face on my prime rib. A most enjoyable evening. The owner of this establishment must be so very proud of her entire staff.

Absolutely the best steaks....and I live in Southern CA, where we have great food. Winchester is always a must when I come visit family in Sheridan. Really friendly owners and staff. Great bread, salad, and dessert too!

We were driving through Wyoming and stopped for the night in Buffalo and decided we wanted steak. We checked with the motel clerk and she told us that Winchester's was the place to to. Checked Yelp as a back up and saw the great revews. Let me tell you this place has excellent food. I had the ny strip and my wife went with the petite filet. Both of us agreed that our steaks would stack up against any steak we have had at any restaurant in the past.

Opens at 5pm parking lot is small so get there early because it fills up quickly. Doesn't look like much from outside but inside is quiet and western charming. Great service food and wine. Definitely will come again!

This is my favorite steakhouse anywhere.... The outside: The parking is a kind of awful on a weekend night. The outside of the building is very uninspiring. The inside: expect old style ambiance... the place is dated with Wyoming mountain murals painted on the walls, fake hanging plants, and a roaring fireplace. The food: I just love the food- even the seafood. We have tried numerous cuts of steak and they have always been delicious and cooked to order. The entrees come with a humongous potato side and soup or salad. The biscuits and breads served as a free appetizer are also good.

The Winchester was excellent all around. We ordered a 26 oz Porterhouse steak. The restaurant is located next to some sort of chophouse and you could recognize the quality of the cut. We also ordered the chicken zingers. It may sound like an unsophisticated name, but the zingers were tempura fried chicken fingers with a spicy house sauce that had a very tasty unique flavor. The bar prices were also extremely reasonable. We had an excellent experience. My only complaint was that they allowed an entire soccer team of little children to take up half the restaurant. The restaurant was fully booked and turning away customers. These Adult customers would have paid for steak, instead of $3 kids meals. Also, the children were loud and disruptive. If you're going to advertise as a steakhouse, you can't allow your restaurant's ambiance to turn into a Chuck E. Cheese.

I would like to say this place had great food but their kitchen closed 25 minutes before their posted closing time so I had to go elsewhere. If you decide to go, make sure have a backup restaurant in mind.

Stopped in for a quick dinner on my way through town. I got the Queen Cut Prime Rib with mashed potatoes-- the meat itself was so tender and of an incredible quality. I wasn't a huge fan of the au jus; they pour it directly onto the meat so the plate is literally swimming in it. If you're into au jus it shouldn't be a problem, but I guess I'm just used to having it on the side. Also, I thought it was kind of weird that they offered scones in the bread basket, but I'm glad I tried it. It was the best scone I've ever tasted, and the subtle sweetness really complemented the meat. Wish I could stop by again so I can try another cut, but from what I experienced, it's definitely worth a meal. Service was also absolutely incredible; I wish I got my server's name, but she was so attentive and quick to make sure all of her tables were set. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.

Wow! I had heard the food here was great; I finally got to try it. We started with the chicken zingers that someone else had recommended. I could have finished with that alone. I had the French onion soup with my meal, which was also very good. For the main course, we split a 14 oz. Filet Magnon. It was great! BTW, the couple beside us had Oysters Rockefeller; and they looked delicious as well. I had been told they were excellent, but I could not have fit one more item. Also, if you are staying at one of the hotels, ask about coupons. We both got coupons for free drinks.

Excellent steak and atmosphere in a tiny western town. The service is outstanding! The menu is down home yet refined and portions are hearty and delicious. If you are traveling to the west you do not want to music this local gem. My husband and I will definitely always make this restaurant a stop on the map.

It's difficult to rate this place. The steaks was cooked well and the sides was mostly good, but the meat lacked taste, the wine selection was very limited and some of the sides and starters was only reasonable. I would have liked to rate it a bit higher due to the location (small town), but Wyoming should be able to produce better steaks (it's ranch country, right!).

This place had overly salty leek soup, soggy vegetables, and wilted salad. The only upside to the food was that the blue cheese dressing was good...

14oz filet was amazing. Didn't even need to use the knife to cut it. Fast and friendly service, and reasonable prices, especially considering the quality of the cut.

Like many others have stated, the atmosphere is the only thing that isn't great at this steakhouse. Great staff, great food and decent prices. I would highly recommend the beef stroganoff special on Thursdays is you want to have something other than steak.

I stayed in Buffalo one night on my way to Denver. The restaurant is in a convenient location...right off the highway. I wanted some good steak and this spot was recommended to me by a local. Upon entering the facility, I was greeted, but told to that there would be a 15 minute wait.. ok, no problem - except that there were about 15 open tables. So, I waited and got seated by the fireplace. Then, it took another 15 minutes to have the waitress take my order - after I had to get her attention... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT? By now, I was getting inpatient and my NY attitude was about to spring out. That's not the worst part.... I ordered the big NY strip Medium-rare. When my steak comes out.... it was still MOO-in!!! I had to send it back... and finally it comes out perfect. If I had not been starving... I would had left. Unfortunately, I do not think anything else in that blip on the map would be open. If you have the patience for a decent steak, but mediocre to horrid service... that's your spot. It earns 4 stars for the steak solely.

OK, the steaks were excellent and that really counts at a steak house. The salads were not entirely fresh but OK. Not entirely but mostly iceberg lettuce. The service at the table, after a rocky start recovered and was excellent. The prices though are certainly in the $$$ range. My 16 oz "on the bone" ribeye special was $36 and comes with just one side. The menu version of a 16 oz ribeye was $10 cheaper. The "bone in" ribeye, in the end, was probably overpriced. That's a lot to pay for a bone. Spouses roast sirloin was also very good although her rice side had underdone wild rice and overdone white. She did not enjoy it. This is a popular place. I advise reservations especially on Friday or Saturday. We went right a opening at 5 and were parked by the kitchen door. There were still lots of tables open when we left. "Your food will be hotter when it comes", said the Hostess when I complained and walked away. The desserts were very good and seemed fresh. So kudos for the meat but the rest was not so epic.

First, the meal was awesome! One of the best Filet's I have ever eaten. It was cooked perfectly and offered a wonderful smokey flavor. The Béarnaise sauce was a dry package mix made with water, which in my opinion makes it no longer Béarnaise sauce...The creamed spinach was decadent! The prime rib was also cooked perfectly and very good. Now, the service was HORRIBLE! We were not greeted for more than 10 minutes. We received drinks after 30 minutes. For a refill of water & another glass of wine, I waited 10 minutes prior to our server asking if I would like more water. I had placed both glasses at the edge of the table in hopes that anyone in the restaurant would notice. If only the service could have been acceptable in any way shape or form, this would have been a wonderful experience. My compliments to the chef!

The bartender, while not well versed in different drinks, pours like she is attracted to you! I love her idea of a glass of whiskey. Their chicken pot pie is incredible! My friend got the steak and was very pleased. You will find it hard to top this place in most cities. I was very happy to find this gem in Buffalo. Come early or bring a comfortable chair and a large helping of patience because this place packs up immediately after they open at 5:00 PM.
