The good. The hashbrowns were good. The server was nice. The bathroom was old but clean. The bad. Where to begin?? My eggs were cold when they got to the table. The coffee is so weak it tastes like water. The decor includes a painted brick wall mural of a meadow with stuffed deer heads jutting out. They.used camo duct tape to fix the bright orange seats. The seats are broken again and the stuffing is coming out. The tables have quarter size chips gouged in them. The smoking. Omg the stained carpet.

One of our worst restaurant experiences in three years living in the U.S., if not the worst. We waited a little bit more than one hour to get our breakfast ! ... and it tasted really bad (undercoocked, industrial, ...).

I read the reviews, and just think, "Welcome to the West, tourists". I'm a tourist now, I suppose, but found this restaurant to be so very Wyoming. It was exactly what I expected. If it shoots or you shot it, it should probably go on the wall. After driving past a bunch of chains, I was pleased to fine them open. My brother and I both enjoyed breakfast, and enjoyed smoking inside after. Yes it was smoky when we walked in, but this is a throwback to the time of the dead guys on the wall. With the majority of the country non-smoking, give us a couple places. The deer antlers on the moose. A mistake, or messing with people that don't know better? Funny either way.

Had the basics. eggs hash brown toast and bacon. Average. A bit greasy. The star was the big fat sausage links. Very good. Service good.

Pretty bad. Hard to screw up breakfast but they did. Hash browns Are hash whites and I would have to question if they even put the bread on the toaster. It's also smoky in the resturaunt even in non- smoking.

Good service but takes a while to get the food. The place isn't very clean and smells like smoke.

Many small-town diners are a bit outdated with an old-town rustic feel, and these are some of my favorite places. However in the case of Pistol Pete's, the old dirty carpet, the duct-taped vinyl seats, the paint peeling off the walls, and the water stains in the bathroom ceiling are just gross. The prices are hard to beat, but unfortunately Pistol Pete's is cash only. I would rather pay a little more and use a debit card than burn through cash. The food is quite tasty, but all of the other drawbacks leave Pistol Pete's lacking.

Horrible service. Waited over 10 min and still no waitress, no coffee, no menu, yet others who came in after us were waited on. This place still has a smoking section you have to walk through to get to the non smoking section. They also only take cash so we had to drive all over to find a atm before we attempted to eat here. What a dive.

When you first walk into Pistol Pete's be ready for a blast of smoke to hit you. Sit in the back where it is less smoky, and where you can see the T-Rex head mounted on the wall. Pistol Pete's has great breakfast at a a great price. The full order of biscuits and gravy was so much food, and awesome! The gravy had just the right amount of pepper and sausage for me. Other items ordered by my friends were the breakfast burrito; which I kid you not is about a foot long, pancakes as large as a dinner plate, and an omelet. No one finished their entire plate as the servings are quite large. I would definitely go back. A side note: The credit card machine was out when we were here... don't know if this is just a one time thing or recurring... take cash just in case!

Pistol Petes.... I will start on a positive note: The service was very good. The waiter was polite and very attentive in the face of our non-local status in a clearly local place. In addition, the ambience was genuine, which was a cool. Now for the negative side: the food was quite bad. Besides the plain hamburger and corned beef hash, which were okay, the other food was lacking in taste and texture. My "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwich had a soft, untoasted white bun smothered in what appeared to be margarine. The meat did not resemble any form of steak and was over salted. The chunks of pepper and onion were hard and undercooked. The accompanying tomato soup was worse than Campbells and tasted salty and sour. Finally, the coffee was either extremely burnt or just coffee flavored water. Imagine in-room Motel 6 coffee, burnt. That was just a few of the bad menu items. If you aren't getting eggs or pancakes, you should just choose a different place while you're in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Gave it a try. First off, be prepared for SMOKE. This restaurant is a smoking restaurant but they do have a non-smoking section in the back. You walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking section. The food is good. Service is good. Menu selection is standard, If you are Vegan or vegetarian you will have few choices. The coffee is weak. The biggest challenge was paying the bill. You take the bill to the counter like years-gone-by, and the cashier is in the smoking section so you may want to take a deep breath before paying your bill. They DO NOT accept credit cards. Cash only. Update after several visits. The pancakes are huge and tasty and the blueberry pancakes are nice.

Recommended for breakfast; yahoo, were they right. Initially I was taken aback by all the smokers in the front section of the restaurant, but the non-smoking area is spacious and free of smoke. The breakfast menu is abundant with plenty of cowboy favorites in cowboy portions. The special looked delicious, but I hesitated due to a quick calorie estimate. The link sausage was spectacular, eggs and hashbrowns cooked to perfection. The pancake was the standard huge portion and I cleaned up every morsel. It would rate a 5 in my book if I didn't have to hold my breath through the smoking section.

I felt welcome and liked the choices available. The coffee girl/hostess (not derogatory, she was ~12-13 years old) was very prompt and professional. I was never without coffee and I can throw it down like a trucker. My eggs were exactly as I ordered and they had REAL butter instead of the butter colored water (margarine) that will ruin toast. Do not get the ham-steak, it is not a ham-steak. The other breakfast meats are great. They did not ruin the hash browns and they had Tabasco to hide any imperfections. This place is much like the town it is in, small, comfortable and genuine. I hope to return to both someday.

Thanks to a previous review below I had the HALF breakfast burrito and it was still huge and served with hash browns. Hubby had HALF biscuits and gravy. The burrito was very, very tasty with a nice kick. Hubby's gravy was good and actually had chunks of sausage in it. With two coffees and this tasty breakfast we walked away full and happy for only $15. ...about the smoke - we are not smokers and did not notice the smoke at all. They had a doorway that separates the two sections and even though it was 45 degrees outside had huge fans blowing in the smoker section to keep it cleared of smoke. I would definitely recommend this place, even to non-smokers.

I stopped for a night in Buffalo and went looking for breakfast somewhere near my hotel. I grew up in a small town so the simple building with the word "Cafe" larger than their actual name caught my eye. The parking lot is graveled, and it was packed with big pickup trucks and SUV's. That told me the local ranchers eat there, and I was in for a great homemade breakfast. The interior is typical of a small town cafe where the people care more about the food they make and the service they provide than getting around to designer decorating. My breakfast was wonderful with everything cooked as ordered. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coffee was good, and I drink mine black. I enjoyed families stopping to visit with their neighbors at other tables on their way out. I felt right at home. I'll be back every chance I get when I pass through again.

We et' breakfast at Pistol Pete's several times durin' our stay in Buffalo. I am always obliged when a joint serves breakfast all day long. Now ya' best come hungry 'cause the portions are huge and the grub is doggone flavorsome. The only caveat.... they allow smokin' inside.
