I really like this place. Food is bar food, but a little more. They have breakfast. This place has a good cozy feel to it!

The atmosphere is great. I love eating in the back area overlooking the old wheeling suspension bridge. The food on the other hand is just alright; however, if you are looking for a wheeling classic or a fun place to hang out I would give it a try.

Just GOOD. If I was to go back to visit Wheeling for a day, I'd make this my go to place. I've never had a bad dish there. Some are just good, not great. Some are definitely great. My friends like it, I like it, locals like it. Feels cozy and the waitstaff are not overbearing. Crowd depends on the day and where you are. Bar is usually crowded, as is the deck, and the dining room is usually empty enough to be spacious. It's nice to take a walk down to heritage port after eating. I miss that part the most. Be careful parking. It's a doozy and not for lack of space....you'll get it when you go there. ;-)

Visited July 2011. Fun atmosphere, good service; food was so-so. I had a French Dip which didn't have much flavor though the au jus was very good (it just couldn't help the sammich THAT much).

This place was really cute! My meal was pretty good and not that expensive at all. Our waitress was nice enough, but kind of rushed us a bit. The bathroom was also tiny and the stall didn't lock. :(

Definitely worth a visit, especially for breakfast. As the menu warns, the baked omelets take quite a bit longer to prepare, but they're huge and worth the wait. At least half the allure of Uncle Pete's is the outside dining on the back deck, but, given Wheeling weather, that means only 6 months per year.

Whenever I'm in Wheeling, I try to work in a meal at Uncle Pete's. Most Wheeling restaurants have standard fare but Uncle Pete's has some variety to it. The place has a nice atmosphere with local artist's works on the walls. The dining area can fill up pretty quickly, especially at busy times of the week (Sundays around lunch). I don't think I have ever been there when the bar didn't have a few people there watching a game on the TV. I don't suggest wearing anything other than WVU or Steelers gear if you plan to stay there. The staff is friendly and the prices are good. Parking can be a real pain as it sits on a very steep hill and you might find the parking lot at the bottom full.

The food here is excellent! For appetizers, we got the deep fried potato balls and the deep fried zucchini. I felt like the potato ball serving size was too small, but it was very good. The zucchini was delicious, a definite try even if you don't think of yourself as a zucchini kind of person. For the main course, I got the Chicken Marsala and it was amazing and the portion was generous. My boyfriend got a shrimp and pasta dish that he was very pleased with as well. They have three different places you can enjoy your meal. You can sit outside and overlook the river, you can eat at the bar area inside (also a view), or you can eat inside at regular tables. All of the areas were nice. Overall, the food is 5 stars. The only issue we had was service. Food came out slowly, and we never knew where our waitress was. Getting refills or anything else was difficult. We weren't really happy with the service. Also, in the room we were seated there was a trash can right by the tables, and we found that pretty unhygienic. However, still a nice place with really tasty food. We will be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Uncle Pete's! The drinks were extremely cheap, and the food was solid. Their menu was a bit more diverse than typical bar fare, but it seems like they do a good job with the wide array of food. Sit on the covered deck in the back- it's really nice and offers a great view of the river and nearby bridge. One tip: they have a private parking lot, but the hill to get in is really, really steep. I opted for street parking.

Uncle Pete's has very good food. I recommend the wings. Be sure to sit on the back deck for a great river view.

Very good selection. Something for everyone. Italian, seafood and a selection of smoked meats. Daily specials. My husband had two smoked pork chops with scalloped potatoes for 6.95! I had chicken Marsala (11.00 i think) and it was delish! Parking in the back with seating indoor and patio with a nice view of the river and Wheeling Island. On our second visit we had the zucchini app which was great (see pics) and we both had a tasty sandwich. His was a Philly melt and mine a French dip. Both around 8.00 each.

Well I loved the building - its ambiance. The staff was friendly although very very busy on a Friday night at dinner time. The ribs were very good. The crab cakes were ok. The stuffed shrimp were also just ok. All in all better than Perkins but not a place to go for a fancy dinner. If I lived in the area I would definitely visit again. It's seems to be a popular place for many.

Baked Canadian whitefish very tasty. Barbeque ribs very good. Side dishes are not on a par with main dish but average. Beer selection is better than average for a restaurant. Wine selection limited to half dozen choices. Plastic chairs on outside elevated deck. Nice atmosphere.

Another great lunch at Uncle Pete's today. I had a chicken pita, which was wonderful, but I've never had a bad meal there. The atmosphere is very cool. It's worth putting up with cramped quarters to see all of the amazing architecture in this converted Victorian house. In the summer, you can't beat breakfast on the deck with a great view of the river. The fifth star is missing because service was a little lackluster the last two times I was there. Not rude, just indifferent. I think maybe the individual servers were just having off days, because the many times I've been there before our servers have been wonderful.

Stopped in for Breakfast and was very happy about what was available. I had Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich and my wife had an omelette we were very pleased . The service was nice and waitress was polite.

I wish I didn't live an hour away from this place. Any time we're in Wheeling, we eat here. I've had many of their sandwiches but, after having their Reuben, that was it for me. It's the best Reuben I've ever had in my life and I get it every time I go (my husband always gets the turkey jerky). I basically tell everyone in the Ohio Valley to try Uncle Pete's!

I had the smoked wings. They were very tasty. Nice smoky flavor. The majority of them were a little too dry but the meat fell of the bone. Wish they put more sauce on them. Large selection of bottled beer. The waitress was very nice and the service was fast. I would definitely come back.

the staff is very nice and helpful. Place is usually busy so might need to wait for a table. Interesting food prep for a small place. Had to drive around the block a couple times to find it, GPS had it a block away.

Service started slow, but picked up, and the baby back ribs made up for it. Delicious! Sauce wasn't too sweet, nor too tomato-y tasting. Bread was crusty on top, and fries were hot and yummy. Outdoor seating was nice as well. A good food stop on your trip if you want a leisurely meal.

I stopped in with my wife for a beer and snacks while on a motorcycle trip. Beautiful day and sat on the back deck with a good view. I had the smoked wings, honey barbecue sauce. These wings were the best that I have had in four years from a restaurant! Excellent wings!!

This is a go-to spot for my family. Good food. Good prices. Good service. I don't think I've had a bad meal at this place. But I think the best part is the view of the river from the deck. If you go during normal dining hours, expect a wait for the deck. You can always get a drink at the bar, which is right inside the door. Last time we ate here, we ate in the "dining room" which was completely empty except for us.

So tired of all the chain places showing up on this road trip. Need to get away from the interstates to find better food. Made the effort to go local and found this place overlooking the river. Super hot day but we braved the heat and sat on the covered deck out back with a view of the island. BLT was just ok. Thick Italian toast is pretty tasteless. Pastrami was a bit better. But the beer was cold and Brandy was sweet and gave us some tips for Wheeling. Looks like they had some tasty ribs and wings, but we wanted a lite lunch. No drafts and the bottle beer list was just average. They had a shandy but no IPAs. Getting there is a bit of a challenge using apple maps. Had to do the loop twice as we took the wrong fork. Other things in Wheeling: Drive or walk the suspension bridge, but the island is sketchy. A park near by sounded nice, but a thunderstorm hit so we continued to northern Pennsylvania.

Nice place to go for lunch. The food is pretty good and it's fun to sit out on the balcony overlooking the Ohio river during the warmer months.

It's kind of weird to give a restaurant four stars that once gave me horrible food poisoning, but man, whatever I ate that day was worth it. This was a favorite brunch spot for me when I lived in Wheeling, and I've been back a few times with my friend and her children for lunch, because it's a very family-oriented place, with very good, homestyle food, at very low prices. And about the food poisoning thing - I might have just been hungover. I don't remember. Oops.

I go here every week. Excellent staff who have always been attentive and polite. The food is excellent although I wish some of the specials would be repeated more often. And love the deck!

Went with my brother for breakfast. The rye toast was thick which is the way I like it, but it wasn't particularly flavorful. The best taste came from the hand made sausage, both the sweet and the hot. The hot is spicy but not uncomfortably hot. The only thing I didn't understand is this: you can get a breakfast with one or two pieces of sausage. But if you get the two pieces you can't order one of each, "They won't do that," said our waitress. Why not? Is it a big extra effort to grab a different type of sausage and throw it on the grill? Does it greatly confuse the cook? I'm sorry, that kind of policy is just plain stupid. My brother and I opted to each get two of the opposite types, so we were able to get one each anyway, although I don't know how they managed to do so because their policy would make it appear to be difficult. If I were eating alone or with someone not interested in one of each, I would be really annoyed. The outside deck was good and the service was fast enough. I might have rated them higher, but inflexible food policies don't allow me to.
