The other reviews listed here are for the old location near Star City which is now closed completely. Our review is for the new location at Sabraton. All new building, clean, easy to find. You should have a fairly good idea what to expect at a restaurant like this (like Denny's, Eat n Park, Perkins and so on) so you really shouldn't be too surprised at what you find on the menu. Decent food at a reasonable price with a friendly staff. Honestly, I've never been disappointed here and usually I'll find something that nags me at almost any place. Go ahead, enjoy!

The breakfast on Saturday was not very good: not many varieties and still cost $7.49...

This place gets a solid 3.5 stars, despite the physical impossibility of that occurring. $8.99 for a (seafood) all-you-can-eat buffet. While this isn't earth shattering for me, having grown up in standard Virginia (that which is not western and mountainous), it did mean something to my bf who's spent the majority of his life in the Bay Area: viz. Not only was this buffet a.y.c.e., it included seafood - a revered item of the buffet genre known widely to command a hefty premium. It was good. Especially considering that I hadn't eaten very much the two days prior while at a nearby music festival. Biscuits were there amongst us and I like them; they don't put on a lot of performances in the Bay Area. While the premise of seafood was exhilarating, it didn't translate into much of substance when the buffet cards were down. My solid 3.5 here results from the gratuitous steak that you get in addition to the buffet for your $8.99 purchase. Now I'd be pissed if I bought this steak for $8.99 by itself, but taken as a worthy add-on to an already substantial all-you-can-eat slop trough value meal, I was able to savor it for the salty medium-well meat icing that it was on our discount buffet cake. Our waitress was nice too. I don't ever see myself doing another festival as physically miserable as All-Good, but I would consider stopping at this place again if for some other reason I ever found myself in this area. Tell 'em Shoney Bear 86' sent ya'.

While at the TERRIBLE All Good festival in nearby Masontown, Ryan B., our friend Billy and I came into Morgantown for a little respite from the inhumane conditions inflicted on us at the festival grounds. Our first stop: Shoney's. I was feeling a little delirious from two days' worth of dehydration, sleeplessness, and intense heat and sunlight out on Marvin's Mountaintop, where the All Bad was being held. So take note that just about anything indoors with free refills would have sufficed. The Saturday we were at Shoney's was their seafood day. Thanks to the trailblazing orders of my dining companions, I quickly realized that meant that access to an all-you-can-eat seafood and salad buffet could be had at the low low price of $8.99, which also included a steak, cooked how you wanted it. I was in heaven. I loaded up on fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, cajun-style rice, collard greens, and more Coca-colas than you can even imagine. Then there was the steak: a steak that would probably run you about $15 minimum in SF (without the seafood buffet, no less). It was juicy, cooked well, and went down easy. Our waitress was also very nice to us, despite how haggard and unhygienic we were at the time from hanging out for 36 hours in the All Good Dust Bowl and Solar Oven. I will probably never eat here again, not having anything to draw me back to West Virginia, but at least this place can serve as a happy memory of an otherwise very forgettable trip. If for some reason I were back in Morgantown, I'd try to eat here again.

Shoneys has always been a favorite. A buffet each night of the week which is a plus. Good food on the menu as well. The staff here is great as well. The only reason it for only 4 stars is that the last time i was here the waiter I had, i had to ask 3 times for a refill and he never cleaned my plates from my trips to the buffet. Im sure he was new so i will give him the benefit of the doubt.

This restaurant needs to be shut down! My family was in Morgantown for a funeral and had to book last minute our accommodations. After full day of planes and car rides we needed a plate of hot food. Not too much to ask for right? At this Shoney's location we may as well have asked the staff to lasso the moon! Not wanting to drive any more we walked to Shoney's that was in the same parking lot as the Econo Lodge Coliseum (Don't get me started on THAT place!!). We were seated in the area near the windows (Visible to the street). What should have been our first clue that this meal would be disastrous was the floor. The floor would literally bubble up when you stepped on a certain spot, nearly causing my mom, aunt, and myself to trip and fall. After being seated we order and proceed to wait. We waited a good while, but didn't complain. Just sat and talked and drank our water and tea. When our food was brought out my mom's basket of shrimp was completely frozen. Not cold, mind you, FROZEN. So now my mom has to wait another 10 minutes for her food. After her food was brought out, the shrimp was over cooked, and now her baked potato was cold. She decided it was worthless to inform our server and just sat there and picked at her food. I ended up splitting my burger with my mom so she would at least get something in her. Before we went to the counter to pay our bill, which was all on the same check when we made sure to tell our server we would be paying separately, I made sure to mark on it which meal(s) would be put on each card. This completely overwhelmed the girl at the register and she just stood there pushing buttons and saying "oh shoot" and "uh-oh" every couple of seconds. During all of this we managed to speak with what we assumed to be the manager, and told him we didn't think it was right to be charged for a meal my mom couldn't eat, so he took it off. We're now trying to pay our bill for 10 minutes now, the girl at the register still completely clueless on how to ring us up. So, we decide to make it even easier. My family payed with cash, and made sure to tell her not to give us any change, just keep it. This STILL didn't work and she fervently pushed more buttons. I finally had to stop her, and explain to her that we didn't want change back ... just keep the change ... then I handed her my card and tried paying for my meal. She swiped it once, twice, three, four times ... each time having to wait about 2 minutes. Now a huge line is forming. I suggested to her to try swiping the card slowly and tada! it worked. Now my family is all payed and we're getting ready to leave, and now we hear the staff making fun of us to the people waiting in line. This was beyond rude. This was completely uncalled for! My family, never once, lost their cool, shot any looks, or spoke in a harsh tone to any of the staff. We even left a tip to our server because we know it's hard working in a place were you count on tips as part of your income. After ALL of that ... only to be literally pointed to and scoffed at. Oh yeah, the icing on the Shoney's cake ... we all ended up getting horrible stomach cramps and a slight case of food poisoning from the food. I only wish I could rate this place negative 5 stars ...
