My 100th review!!! I've never heard of a Max and Erma's, so a co-worker and I decided to go during a trip to Huntington recently. We both were definitely not dissapointed! We walked in and opted to sit at the bar due to a growing line of customers waiting for tables. Truthfully, we just wanted a drink and maybe an appetizer or two. The atmosphere is great and I could only imagine how hopping the place must get in the summer, especially with the outdoor seating area and it's location right next to that big movie theatre. It seemed like a perfect typical date setup, dinner and a movie. That alone will make me recommend it to any young couples in love! Moving along... at the bar, I ordered my usual Cranberry and Vodka and and an order of wings. The bartender was very good at her job and had my drink out quickly with my food shortly thereafter. The wings were really good, hot, and had just the right amount of sauce on them. I don't like them dry or swimming, but nicely lubed as I like to say, LOL! They also gave me a good portioned serving of Bleu Cheese. Don't know why, but so many places like to skimp on the Bleu Cheese. Not Max and Erma's! Don't know if it's just the people at the restaurant, or Huntington, WV as a whole, but people are SUPER friendly. My co-worker and I struck up a conversation with the group next to us about the different foods and drinks at Max and Erma's. They were also delighted to hear that we were popping our Max and Erma's cherry, LOL! The bartender got in on the convo a little bit too, in between serving us and other customers. I've read the other reviews and based on them, it seems like Max and Erma's could be a hit or a miss. Personally, my experience was a hit! I'll pop in again the next time I'm in town!

My advice is to eat at the bar and let Allison or Lezeigh take great care of you. Food is very good overall for Huntington. Tortilla soup is very good Burgers A- For your options in Huntington this is a good choice. And trust me there are few places to eat in Huntington and even less that can make the same meal twice the same. I speak from a point of a business traveler but this is my hometown and I would still give the same review.

Not a great experience. I wasn't expecting anything close to fine dining, but even for a mid-priced restaurant they missed the mark. About half-way through my salad I found a winged insect of some kind in it. I pointed this out to my waitress and she took it away, did not apologize and neither she or a manager came to the table, and it was never mentioned again. It was also not removed from my bill. I understand how things like this can sometimes get into food, but I was surprised at their lack of concern. Maybe it happens here all the time so the staff are not fazed. The pasta dish that followed was fine but unremarkable. For desert I had chocolate cake which was so rich I couldn't finish it, but otherwise ok. The waitress did one other thing that was annoying and unprofessional. When clearing the table, she set down someone else's dirty dishes in front of me on top of mine and then picked up the whole stack to take away. I think this is a lazy way of clearing and no one wants to stare at dirty plates from another meal even for a few minutes. I really would not recommend this place unless everything else is closed. Even then, you might be better off with fast food.

Service is fast & friendly. Variety of selections, good food, even for some who can't eat dairy!!

Waited forever on drinks. Forget ever getting refills. When my meal came I had a small handful of French fry ends. I actually laughed when the lady sat it down. Never saw our waitress after we got drinks. Manager took over cause she could see we were upset. Plus the place was hot and dirty. Food was so so and overpriced.

I'm wildly anti-chain... BUT They cook an amazing burger (I mean, medium rare IS medium rare. Thanks B.O.H) second only to how brilliantly attentive and personable the staff is. It's obvious that most actually care and aren't hesitant about having a good time even though they're working. It's called hospitality for a reason. I feel it here and I think they get it. I will return. Go have a good time with them.

I had the Tony's Bodacious Bacon Cheeseburger and it was cooked medium as requested and very tasty. I have a pretty high bar for burgers and had low expectations, but they exceeded them. The service was great and the fries were average. The Mediterranean dip was fantastic. My girlfriend had spent a long while in the middle east and she normally hates hummus and pitta in America. The pita was very fluffy.

The waitress was very friendly and attentive She was 5 star Unfortunately the ribs were not fall off the bone like the menu states The food was second rate low quality and over cooked

This is more of a bar review as we came here after eating elsewhere on a Sunday evening. M & E 'a has a small, fairly generic tap beer selection, but a really good selection of liqueurs so I was able to have a really nice cocktail while watching the "red zone" on the bar televisions. Service was great and the food smelled so good, I almost wanted to have dinner again! We were glad we stopped by!

I am not sure why a kids meal would be larger than an adults meal and 1/2 the price. I ordered a "lunch" salad for $9 and it was GROSS! It was the Greek salad. The artichokes were bad, the lettuce was not fresh, and the chopped tomato type stuff on top did not test well either. Our server did not come by quick enough for me to send it back. My brother in law ordered a burger and fries. When did Huntington decide to become healthy and serve just 10 fries with a burger that is smothered in bacon and cheese. REALLY?!?!?! The only thing that was nice was the pretzel sticks which probably came frozen. This place is expensive too!

Pricey. Restricted seating. Beer of the month not available on the 5th. Second consideration Nevada pale ale missing as well.

I come here for lunch fairly frequently. The food is decent (but not anything spectacular), and the waitstaff are usually prompt and courteous. Indeed, this place is much like any other mid-level chain restaurant, but with the added bonus of being in the center of Downtown Huntington and having an second-floor patio that overlooks Pullman Plaza. The best bang for buck option is the "3 Course Combo," which consists of 1) salad or tortilla soup, 2) a burger, and 3) a chocolate chip cookie. Note: The tortilla soup is more like a cup of nacho cheese sauce w/ tortilla shreds in it, but I am not complaining.

Disappointed! The salad was so brown and gross, definitely not fresh. I got the salad and soup lunch combo and so basically I could not eat half my lunch. I got this take-out and couldn't leave work to get a replacement.

Ordinarily, we have had good service. Tonight, the food was cold and the service exceptionally slow. It took about 45 minutes to receive our food. We were offered cookies by the manager and they took 30 minutes.

I've eaten here several times, and I have to say it's hit and miss. Usually it's great, but sometimes the service is lacking. And I ordered the halibut twice- the first time it was to die for, the second time it was 'eh.' I'd definitely eat here again! It's just not my top pick.

The food was great, the drinks were tasty, but the service was not good! Our waiter just didn't seem to have it together. When ordering our food the waiter wasn't helpful in making suggestions. When we were almost finished with dinner he tried to rush us into getting our check, even though we wanted dessert--and this might be the first time we had to tell someone to wait a minute, we want to buy more stuff! The waiter also failed to make sure we had table basics like salt/pepper and silverware. It felt like we had to ask for EVERYTHING! Additionally, we were seated outside and it seemed to take an unusually long time for the tables around us to get cleaned off. We were disappointed by this. It was starting to attract bugs and just isn't pleasant to sit in. But despite this, the food was wonderful and the drinks were prepared perfectly. Just, it seems like your experience may be entirely hit or miss based on who your server is.

Went to this place yesterday for a dinner stop. My husband and I are on a road trip to our new duty station and thought it would be nice and stop by somewhere to eat downtown. He ended up ordering the chicken salad crossiant sammich. He said it was great up until 12 that night when he got up and started throwing up massive amounts. Turns out he got food poisoning from the sammich. Great selection of food but not willing to risk my health!

I came here twice, believe it or not. #1 As a man...they have some GORGEOUS waitresses (well, servers, I do apologize) but I hadn't seen any men in any capacity here. #2 Very modern everything, very nice, clean, not anything I'd have expected from West Virginia, but I was pleasantly surprised. #3 Good food and appetizers, drinks were very tasty. I had a signature Max something or other that was red, rasperry or something. I recommend it. I enjoyed this place, and I hope you do too!

This place is pretty good. For those who don't have the Max & Erma's chain near you, it's a similar genre to TGI Friday's, but Max & Erma's has better food. There is also a full bar and one of the only places in town to get a good Mojito. There is nice outdoor seating which is on the second floor of the new Pullman Square. This is a good place to hit before going to the Movies in the same complex.
