Certainly not a bad place to eat, but there are much better local options in Huntington. Taste wise, this place is great. I haven't had a bad meal here, but it's usually loud (which isn't always a bad thing), crowded, and as noted by the others, the food isn't freshly prepared. It's as close to a chain restaurant like Applebees that a local joint can get to. If you don't mind that, and don't mind clogging your arteries, your tastebuds will not be disappointed. If you're by the stadium for a game and looking for a good pre or post game meal I certainly won't steer you away. It's a great place to go with a group of friends for some burgers.

We come to Huntington, WV to visit my inlaws 8-10 times a year. This is the place we go to everytime we are in Huntington since 2008. My fave is the lava burger and its perfect everytime. My son who is now 8 requests Fat Patty's as soon as we tell him we are going to visit Nana and Papa. Great place and great food, need I say more!

Food was great! Burgers are wonderful- wings were great . Raspberry sauce for the poppers- all I can say is WOW. Best waitress- Taha- she took great care of us.

The hamburgers come frozen and the meat itself has very little taste. It's about what gets put on the hamburgers that makes this place suitable on BOGO night. Watching calories? The food comes from Gordon's Food Services. Search each ingredient in MyFitnessPal and include GFS in the description. The men's urinals are annoying. They put two urinals next to each other in a corner. If you have to pee, you run in the chance of your butt being pressed up against another person's butt while urinating. Not my cup of tea. Service is OK. Sometimes great. Sometimes horrible. Just remember that if you go on BOGO night then you should tip more than the average 20% because these people don't make as much money that evening.

I love a good burger and that's exactly what you'll find at Fat Patty's! Unfortunately, if you're like me when you find one you like it's hard to get out of your routine and try something new. I'm a fan of the Luau Cow with a side of Pickle Chips and Bacon Cheddar Fries!! This is also a great place to bring the kids, they'll love it! The downfall is sometimes the wait, it can get a bit crowded and increase the seating times.

If you're craving some greasy, cheap bar food, this is your place. Pretzel patty is my favorite. Lots of tv's and a good place to go to watch games.

They are serving frozen patties! If I wanted a frozen patty I would have gone to Mcdonald's. Service is so so. My meals have always been fast, but the wait staff doesn't seem to know anything about the massive menu. I wish instead of being mediocre with 1,000 menu items they could be great at 10.

Fat Patty's on a Tuesday evening can't be beat, BOGO burgers plus half off apps from 4-7, best deal in town!!

BAH! I want to love this place but they fell short in so many key ways. I knew I was in for trouble when the waiter didn't ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. To me, this is an indicator that the burgers are par cooked, left to sit in a pan for a while, then finished on the grill right before ordering which is NO BUENO. I wouldn't mind a slightly longer wait and an extra dollar to the price for a fresh burger, cooked to order. My onion rings were lukewarm at best and somewhat soggy. Service was good but that's about it. I will give this place another try, hopefully it was a fluke and I can give them a better review.

One of the better places to eat processed foods in Huntington. The food tastes great but it is terrible for your arteries. The burgers are frozen, not prepared fresh. The bacon cheddar fries will shorten your life about 2 years. However, the service is very good and quick. The server is generally a nicer looking female who will check in with you quite a bit. If you're into burgers, try the Lasso Patty or Born on the Bayou. Comes with chips, fries or onion rings is $1 more. Beer selection is pretty nice, there are around 10 beers on tap. Avoid 90s night or being there past 9pm. That's when the dumb, underage college crowd files in.

You enter into Fat Patty's and from the outside you may be unsure then you enter and still nothing special. But then you try the food and suddenly you realize why this average at best bar is packed with a wait. I had the fat patty burger and it was an amazing burger. It is hard to find a restaurant that makes a down home good burger. This place does it. The bacon was not to crunchy and actually added taste to the burger. The burger Patty's were cooked just right and full of juice. The cheese was melted perfectly and the bun was soft and flavorful. I would recommend this to anyone in the area that feels like a GREAT BURGER.

Service was super fast, we had a group of 20 and we were seated in about 10 minutes and our food came out all together promptly after ordering. The portions are HUGE! I can see why it is a hit with the college crowd and locals. The burger and fries were tasty. It was great to fill up here before our long trek back to Virginia!

What a dump. The place is dirty and looks like a dive bar. Who on earth puts carpet in a restaurant? The tables are plastered with advertisements and the bathrooms are always gross. As for the food, the portions are massive and the prices are cheap. However, everything there is frozen. The beef patties are tasteless. They rely on toppings for flavor, which is exactly the opposite of what I want in a burger. I give them one star for the decent service. I have heard horror stories about the owner and how he treats his employees. Overall, it's a place for people looking for cheap, frozen, and deep fried food. It's depressing that this is one of the top rated restaurants in Huntington...

I ate here with my wife at 2pm on a Thursday and almost had to wait to be seated. I had ate here before but this was her first. I had a Bayou Burger and she had a Philly Cheese Steak. Both were great. The sides were great, onion rings and fries. The meal wasn't too high ($20). My only complaint was the burgers were all half pounders. We are tiny. I don't eat much and don't like to be tempted in finishing my gargantuan meal. If 8ounces of meat on your burger is too much I'd highly recommend their veggie burger. They have the best veggie burger I've ever eaten. Pretty excellent place. I'll be sure to be back.

The atmosphere at Fat Paddy's is definitely the classic college town sports bar feel. Being right down the street from the Marshall University campus and within a stones throw of the Thundering Herd's Stadium, I'm sure this place is PACKED for just about any Marshall U. event! After a weekend spent with my family for a reunion, most of my relatives had already hit the road, but a few of us stayed for an extra evening out, and we chose Fat Patty's for our fairwell dinner. For a party of 11, we didn't have to wait long at all - about 15 minutes during peak dinner hours. The hostess brought us to our table at the front of the restuarant and our waiter was with us very shortly after. I ordered the chicken fingers, which came with two sides, choosing fries and a side salad. YUM-O. The chicken was cooked and seasoned just the way I like them, without too much batter and with plenty of flavor and the fries were top notch! The salad was pretty standard, but was definitely fresh and not doused in too much dressing (I like to pour my own dressing). Our waiter was great with our large party, attentive, fast and personable... cute too. (always a plus!) I didn't get the chance to try the wings my cousin ordered, but they looked pretty awesome! And my moms chicken wrap (I can't recall the actual name) was pretty good too! Next time I'm in Huntington, I'm definitely giving Fat Patty's another visit!

Heard so many good things about it and was excited to try after herd game. Went in waited 20 minutes for a table. Then seated and handed a menu, decided what we wanted, waitress arrives says grill is. Close only appetizers. Truly poor service. What do you expect from a campus bar. Oh well, we left.

What's not to love about this quintessential Irish themed sports bar? U-shaped bar in the center of the restaurant which adorns white Christmas lights. Located just blocks from Marshall stadium. While their prices are cheap - their food is quality! My fam lives in town (we were visiting) and swears by their burgers. We noshed on their bacon cheese fries .... Real bacon - real melted cheese!! YUM! Being it was happy hour they were 1/2 priced so a whopping total of under $3.50. 10pm happy hour offers $5 all you can drink beer (I know Bud Light makes the cut but I'm not sure of the other qualifying drafts). ...we also visited on a Saturday night. While the restaurant was busy during our visit from 8-11pm it wasn't too crowded and still allowed for us to chat and enjoy the pleasure of our company! ...juke box in back left corner - opposite side as the restroom.

Excellent!! Burgers and fries were awesome. Had an Asian salad that was great!! The portions were huge! Our waiter, Willy, did a wonderful job of making recommendations and taking great care of us. The prices were very reasonable - 2 soft drinks and lunch for $20. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Fat Patty's easily has the best local burger in the Tri-State, and I swear the cheese fries put me into labor. All the burgers are big and all of them are tasty. A pleasant surprise and personal favorite is the Pretzel Patty. Meat and cheese on a pretzel bun with a side of honey mustard sauce. No veggies, but still awesome. All burgers come with chips and a pickle, but you can order fries or onion rings. The cheese fries... are... amazing. Definitely the best part of the meal. The price is very affordable, a single person could probably get out for under $10, before tip. Since the restaurant is located on campus, it's always busy. But, the crowd is a good mix of families and coeds. There is a bar in the back center that has several big screens, so if there's a big game on expect a larger crowd. The one downside is the wait. Because it's a bar/restaurant, there's no good way to measure how long tables will be there. You might only have 5 tables in front of you, but it could be a 30 minute wait. If there is a football or basketball game, good luck getting in. I overheard the manager recently say that Friday-Sunday are always packed, and they are always on a wait. If you want to go during the week and not wait, go between 2 and 4 p.m. There is another location opening in Barboursville (about 15 minutes away) that is opening in February. That might make the regular dining days a tad more manageable. I love Fat Patty's and definitely don't visit enough. Can't wait for the new location, which is much closer, so I can get more of those cheese fries!

Ehhh.. Nothing special here. I've had better burgers elsewhere. Food always seems extremely salty. Ok selection of beers. Nice college/bar atmosphere. As others have said, it's a little on the loud side. I wouldn't break my neck trying to go here... No matter what the locals say. Trust me. I'm a local.

I love the food and atmosphere at Fat Patty's. Prices are amazing for the quality and portion sizes! I could split a meal with a friend and still be full. I don't live in the area, but always stop by when I'm in town!

I was very happy with Fat Patty's. Greats fries and great service. My friends sweet potato fries were probably the best I have ever tasted. Our burger's were good (not great).

Because I don't live in Huntington, I try to visit different restaurants each time I am back (4 times a year or so). Fat Patty's is the one restaurant I always want to come back to- even if the wait is an hour long! The pigskins are to die for! My Boyfriend and I split the Bayou Burger and the Black and Blue. I loved both! Can't wait until the Barboursville Fat Patty's opens!

The burgers are OK. The munchies are usually OK. I love French Onion Soup, but I wouldn't order it here - tried it twice, both times WAY too salty and I love salt. It's noisy and crowded most of the time, probably because it's right next to the university. I don't mean a LITTLE noisy, I mean possible ear damage noisy. I'd give it 4 stars for pretty good bar food, minus one star for service which is always slow. In order to get hot food I got into the habit of ordering takeaway and then telling them I'd changed my mind and eat it at the bar. If you want to be seated, expect very long waits, even if the restaurant is not crowded. I take away another star for a run in I had with some weird guy who works there. I'm a middle-aged woman, so I'm not your average college student who might be expected to behave in stereotypical college student ways. I was in there one night (there was a football game playing on the TVs) and it was SO loud and SO crowded that there was no way I was going to sit down and eat. I was studying late up the street in my office at Marshall and I just wanted something to take back to eat and continue studying. I made my order, which I had to literally shout into the guy's ear, and told him I wanted to carry it away because it was way too loud. He asked several times for me to repeat myself because even though I was shouting into his ear from only a few inches away he couldn't hear me over the noise. Finally I shouted "TAKE AWAY - It's too flipping loud here!" He got all offended, said something I couldn't quite catch, I finally figured out he was refusing to serve me because of my "language". When I finally figured out what he was on about I almost fell over in shock. The "F" bomb was being thrown about all around us by drunken male college students, some of whom I was pretty sure were not of legal drinking age, and he's refusing to serve me because he misheard what he THOUGHT I said (I'm guessing - I didn't stay to argue with him - the only possibility I could see was that he thought I dropped the F bomb myself when I said "flipping"). I walked about an extra half block to get takeout from somewhere else and just never went back unless dragged there by friends. And when I DID go back (only ever went back a couple of times) this guy stood and stared at me to the point where the people I was with asked me what his problem was. I told them what had happened and they about fell over laughing - especially as, as usual, we could hear F-bombs going off all around the room. Come to think of it, that incident was so ridiculous and so offensive, that's 2 stars off. total - One star review. Fat Patty's - nothing special, except for silly blue-nosed middle-aged waiters who think the same language used by 20 year old drunk football fans is offensive only coming from a 50 year old women who didn't even use the word.

I don't know why but somehow my roommates and I always end up here. It must be the bacon cheddar fries.

Disclaimer: joints that meet my needs and fill me are considered average and only score a 3 star. The burger here are great! Delicious and filling. Their fries are pretty good too. Caution, the burgers come with chips an fries are extra. Their beer selection is lame but I'm a beer snob. The service at this location was poor but that doesn't play a lot into my review because I won't judge a joint on one trip for their servers. Servers can be a crazy variable.

This would be where you'd find the very, very, very best burger in Huntington! Fat Patty's is a mainstay for students and staff at Marshall University alike. It has a great, relaxed atmosphere and really screams college joint--but not in an entirely bad way. The only area where Fat Patty's really lacks is seating when they're busy. They've never seemed very well organized when it comes to seating and aren't known for being the most equitable when seating people off the list. It is also a complete zoo on Friday and Saturday nights when school is in session. Probably the very best times to step in would be weekday lunches and weekday dinners. This is when you can enjoy your food when the place feels more like a restaurant and less like a college bar. Though they have half-priced appetizers from 4-7pm and 10-close every night and that is an AWESOME deal! The bacon cheddar fries will blow you mind--even moreso when they're half off!

Always great service and always great, cheap food. I always get the 'junior' hamburger and it's plenty big enough for me and an order of their fantastic fries. Also, some of the best wings in town.

  • A. B.

Finally got to eat here. It was worth the wait. The brat burger was excellent! And the yueng ling was ice cold. It's not the best place for kids and there's no kids menu, so it's best to leave them at home. That kinda sucks for me cause if I'm not at work the kids are in tow. Wait staff is top notch.

  • Jaimie J.

I couldn't decide between the veggie burger (reviews said it was really good) and the patty melt. I ended up saying veggie burger and the server (who was very, very sweet) said I can get any of the other burgers, just replaced with the veggie burger. So I got the veggie burger with cheddar cheese, sauteed onions, and mushrooms. Best veggie burger I've ever, ever had.

Great Irish pub. Nachos are great, and the burger is great. The service is fast and great. I came in and got seated quickly with the party that was already there and within no time the waitress got my drink order. The meals came fast and hot, and the brownie dessert was delicious. One of the top 5 Irish pubs I've been in.

Great burgers, good service. Awesome layout for a bar that's close to the Stadium. I look forward to have a burger everytime I drive past it. It's not too pricey, especially since it's near the campus. Grab a beer and enjoy!

Love Fat Pattys!!! I honestly don't know what they put in their burgers. It must be something magical. The place can get packed, so get there early if you plan your visit. I've yet to find anything on their menu that wasn't good.

Incredible burgers! The burger menu is awesome, and the service is fast and attentive. It's a bar, so be prepared for it to be a bit dark inside. Portions are huge and prices are very reasonable!
