I had the pleasure of dining at Olivario's this week while in Clarksburg on business. What a great place thanks Yelpers! It reminded me of the neighborhood Italian restaurants I ate up while growing up in Boston. Service was prompt, friendly, and very knowledgeable regarding the menu and food preparation. I started with the salad which was OK not great but good. I thought they were a little heavy handed on the dressing. I had the Mediterranean pasta and fish entree. The linguini pasta was el dente, perfect. The shrimp and scallops were down just right and the plum tomato sauce and veggies were a nice addition. What a nice surprise I got my Italian food fix in Clarksburg/Bridgeport WV!

Their baked onion soup is the finest i have had. Kinda like looking for the best burger in town, i seek this type of soup also. Spaghetti was good, meatballs were excellent and the salad i had was great too. Pickled beets with goat cheese, walnuts and arugula...nice!!

I had the focaccia pizza with the baked onion soup. The soup was good and the pizza was also good. the pizza needed a little more basil and less oil. The atmosphere is good and the service is great

I have no idea how Olivario's only has only three reviews on Yelp so far, because both times I've gone for dinner, the place has been jam packed (not because of a lack of seating either). The food has always been good, but definitely not outstanding or terribly unique. Good salad, classic Italian foods (pastas, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, etc), descent enough service, just nothing spectacular. All in all, a good place to go out for a nice dinner, but the flavors aren't on the same level as C.J. Maggie's or Las Trancas as far as I'm concerned.

Service was slow and the food was mediocre at best. I believe at one time this was a great place now its a little sad. Same experience last 2 visits probably won't go back.

We decided to go back now, smaller portions, higher price. Me, wife and 4yr old daughter went. My wife and daughter split the chicken Fettuccini. I ordered chicken parmigiana, 2 sodas, 1 apple juice. 2 meals came with salad. Daughter just wanted some lettuce and black olives, they charged $6.00 for it! The kids meals for example, grilled cheese with drink and either apple sauce or fries $9.00. Well the total for 2 meals and 3 drinks one salad was $48.76! Personally, rather not go back again. Drive up to Morgantown Olive Garden.

Yes, it's on the pricier side of the spectrum, but the food is super good. I can't comment as to how it compares to everything else in town because it's the only place I went out to eat at during my month-long stay here. That being said, their Mushroom Sacchetti is delicious! They are rather aptly named, and really do look like little pasta satchels stuffed with mushroom awesomeness. I also split a tomato salad topped with mozzarella and a tiramisu with my friend. All of it was super tasty! They also brought us lots of bread fresh from the oven, and service was attentive without being intrusive. Our water glasses were always kept full and our server would always be there if we needed anything, and didn't rush to kick us out, so it was much appreciated! Parking is somewhat of a downer, but I did manage to snag a spot, so it's definitely not impossible to find! :O

The food is "just ok" its nothing special, but its not bad either. What really gets me with this place is the sky high prices for even mundane dishes of average quality. The ambiance is great and the wait staff are usually very good but if I am going to pay 20-30 a person to eat here they REALLY need to step up the quality of food.

Great, friendly, attentive service, nice atmosphere. The menu has a lot of heavy Italian fare, very carb-heavy stick-to-the-ribs sort of stuff. I ordered the stuffed flounder with risotto, which was gloppy and tasty. The breadsticks were good. Everyone in our party was rather happy with their food. I can't say that their food is masterful or utterly fantastic or amazing, but it's tasty and good, and most everyone will be able to find something they like on the menu. Unless you're looking for canoli. None here. I prefer Julios in Clarksburg for Italian food. although that will deflate your wallet a bit.

I had the salmon with mushrooms in a cream sauce it was delicious. My wife had stuffed flounder and she enjoyed that as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would certainly come here again. unfortunately my wife loved the homemade bread.

Breadsticks were great ok onion soup meatball hoagie was mostly bead and fairly plain nothing to write home about

This is our go-to for dinner out, especially if we have anyone visiting! The bar area is great for late night as well! The breadsticks are to die for when dipped in a little mix of the oil and cheese!

How can you not have cannoli? Ate here only because a pharmaceutical company was paying for it. The food is so-so. There are a few better options in this area to dine if you want Italian.

Came here for a business dinner. Delicious food and a great atmosphere! I ordered the seafood fettuccini and we got the calamari as an appetizer. I've never had calamari like they served it here. It was deep fried like usual but it had almost a thai taste to it. A very good spice. Portion sizes were great and the waiter was great at checking in on us. The only downside was parking - the lot was pretty filled up at 5:30pm.

Did you know they are doing unlimited salad now?!?! I've been eating here for 30 years and I adore their salad, so this is life changing for me!!! Seriously our last visit I had the salmon penne and 3 salads. Granted I took most of my entree home. I adore their house dressing and forgot to buy a bottle the last time we were here. The salmon penne is my new favorite dish, I love the sauce! We are also addicted to the capicola shrimp appetizer! I can honestly say I haven't ever ordered anything here that I didn't enjoy and that's really rare when you have eaten somewhere as often as we eat here. Service is always wonderful, they saved a birthday celebration one year after our server at Julio's was a complete nightmare. I love that they recently updated the menu to include beans and greens! I just can't say enough about the food here, i have to have a chicken salad every time I come home! We have also hosted a couple of large dinners here and they turned out wonderful as well. Definitely my favorite when I come home!

Good food and some interesting menu items considering the area. Our bruschetta was the most elaborate I've ever had. Everything tastes great. I would defiantly come back. A word of warning, it is probably the priciest place in town, but it has good reason to be. The star off is because they were out of a main dish I wanted, and the service was so so.

Wonderful little place for a memorable meal. Have the angel hair crab balls every single time. I dream about them and find myself trying to describe them to others way too frequently. Who knew you could find such amazing, creative and authentic Italian in WV?! Service is friendly and chatty, but the food is what keeps me coming back.

Sausage stuffed banana peppers are off the hook. Rigatoni and meatballs was excellent. Pasta was perfectly cooked. Great service. Must try !!

I have eaten here for over 20+ years....celebrated birthdays, graduations, and holidays....but I have to say that I have never had a bad meal here. Hoagies- great (steak, chicken or ...ESPECIALLY meatball ), Angelhair is very goood, they offer marinara or meat sauce- both are tasty. Their french onion soup and homemade house dressing are both crafted with red wine. :) Couples--- cozy booth around corner from the gated 'wine' area. NOTE: reservations for groups of 5 or more

The filet was awesome - tender, charred, and done perfectly. Ambiance could be better but Heather served very well.

Headline: Traditional Italian place with a definite family feel. When they say this is a familiy restaurant, this is what I picture. It's definitely Italian - you know it the moment you walk in the door. And it's run by the family. Our server was in the family. The menu is definitely what you would expect from an Italian as well, with the usual pasta, puzza, meatballs and sundry items. Our group did two appetizers. The appetizers come in two sizes - small and platter. The platter will easily handle a party of four. We had Angel Hair Crab Balls - crab balls wrapped in Angel Hair and then deep fried. It's ok. You need the sauce. It comes with a mustard sauce, would be better with a marinara sauce. We also got the Stuffed Banana Peppers - surprisingly spicy kick, spicy sausage inside and an excellent marinara sauce, but way too much marinara sauce for the pappers. Most of the meals come with a salad. The house Italian dressing is nice but not really special. The salad itself is a usual combo of lettuce, tomato, cucumber and red onion. We also got a basket of breadsticks, which were obviously freshly baked, wiped with butter and then served up. These were nice and warm and a good change up from the normal bread course. For a main course I had Veal Milanese, and it was really good. The breading on the veal was a little thick, so it came off easily, but the outside was crispy and the flavor of the veal and the sauce was excellent. This is definitely a keeper.

07/30/19 Ordered pizza for take-out. We all found it to have great flavors, and most of us were satisfied w/ the crust. I, however, am a thin-crust pizza fan and found this pie to be too doughy. This restaurant is family-owned and operated and has two rooms-- a bar area w/ high tables and chairs, and the ambience here had an authentic Old Italy feel to it, that I half-expected to find cloaked figures just around the corner whispering. :) Thankfully, it was still light outside to make me feel safe. (I jest, of course! The banter between bartender and some of the locals here made it feel like everyone there was family!) Walking through the main dining area felt a little strange to me, though. I don't know why, but perhaps the frescoes and water fountains present, though very charming, felt a little too over-the-top. Maybe I just couldn't wait to get home to try the pizza... Who knows? I'd love to return again and have a proper dine-in experience on our next visit to WV. That is, after we all paid a visit to Minard's first! P.S. Check out their Italian vinaigrette-- so popular, they've bottled it for sale for you to take home. It's good, but I'd be happier if it didn't include preservatives in the ingredients' list.

Was in the middle of West VA and not expecting to eat at a quality Italian Restaurant so I was surprised at how good the food and ambiance was at Oliverio's. Had their french onion soup which was very tasty and then a Caprese salad with a side order of Mahi Mahi and it was tasty! Service was great too. Check it out!

Really good Italian! Enjoyed the atmosphere and the meal really was outstanding. Service for a Wednesday night was awesome. I'd come back, without a doubt.

Best Italian in the Clarksburg-Bridgeport area. Solid food and friendly service make for a pleasant dining experience. Some items may be a little overpriced, but not too bad. Be easy on the breadsticks though, they keep coming and are too delicious to avoid.

Another favorite spot you have to check out if you are anywhere near Bridgeport/Clarksburg. I always have the Angel Hair Crab Balls. It is such a unique tasty dish. Everything is so authentic tasting. If you are tired of Italian food that tastes just "blah", be prepared to be wowed. I had great service. Portions are large and not overpriced at all for what you would expect for great food.

Walked in and was greeted by a host who could have cared less. Rude and plain nasty young man. Told us to wait here and left, came back and told us to follow him. Sorry, but I usually expect a better welcome or at least a hello. The host also almost knocked over my 12 yr. old daughter. Once we were seated we waited approx. 10 minutes for a server and finally called over a server and asked who our server was. She ran off to tell the server, who came out apologetic. OK, maybe will get better..... No, she took our drink orders and food orders because we sure had enough time to look at the menus. She left and we waited again for a long time, brought our salads and bread. We then waited again for our food. The cheese ravioli was not hot, the fettuccine was awful, the hoagie was acceptable, and pasta with clam sauce was OK. Half way through the meal our drinks were empty and no server to be had. I caught another server passing by and told her to fill our glasses not to go get someone else. I know I was bossy but we were thirsty and wanted to finish. This was my oldest daughter's (20 yrs,) pick for her birthday dinner and so we stayed for the meal. If it had been any other reason we would have left after the first problem with the host. And to finish this was very early in the dinner seating at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday, August 7, and the place was not busy at all, I would hate to have seen later in the night. I have always enjoyed Oliverio's and went there for special occasions before, but probably won't in the future.

Great food! Even better salad dressing. You can actually buy a bottle of their salad dressing to take home with you. I do this all the time. This place gets BUSY so show up early or try reservations.

Italian, Good for lunch. Attire: shirt with collar & Slacks. (Separate Bar Area is less formal). Sandwiches are good, but order off of the dinner menu and you can't go wrong. I prefer the booths in the back rather than the tables. The fair is WV Italian, several classic pasta variations, with at least 2 options for fish between the menu and the specials. If you are looking for a hearty meal, finding something on the menu shouldn't be a problem. Typically the service is good, in fact I can't think of any time that I have had a bad experience, food or service-wise.

Warm and friendly dining experience with exceptional cuisine. A new and fresh menu offers many choices (including health conscious choices). I particularly enjoyed the chicken and eggplant parmesan. The service was wonderful.

I had the veal parm. It was pretty good overall. I would've expected to be able to cut the meat with my fork, but that wasn't the case. Nice atmosphere--table clothes, professional staff, etc. I felt like the food was slightly overpriced for the quality, but the portions were huge.

Absolutely fantastic! Love this locally owned, long time institution. Was in town for just a couple of days and wanted the best local food so we came here. Nothing disappointed. Bread, salad, entrees. They serve you kinda like Olive Garden does - breadsticks, salad, etc. but not comparing or saying they're like OG at all. Not even close and much better. Definitely recommend for out of towners looking for something unique.

Poor service, mediocre food, overpriced for what you get. Local hype for this place is huge, but really doesn't deliver. If I'm going pay 20 a plate, at least don't have plastic table cloths. Olive Garden delivers more authentic Itallian food.

We found Oliverio's by recommendation from a friend who grew up in Bridgeport, and he steered us exactly right. Bread was terrific and warm, but don't eat too much of it, because the main entries are huge. I got the eggplant parmesan and loved it. The eggplant was fried to a nice crisp and the rich sauce over top of that and the accompanying angel hair pasta was well-prepared and flavorful. You really could do much worse in this part of the world - but don't. Go here.

  • Lindsay B.

Oliverio's was the first place we ate after we moved to Bridgeport, and we've been back many times since then. I've tried several dishes and my favorite is the eggplant parmesan. My husband claims they serve the best French onion soup he's ever tasted. The one downside is they do not take reservations unless you have a large party, so be prepared to wait, especially on the weekends. Prices are definitely reasonable, and you can get away with a very nice dinner for two for under $50, which can be unheard of these days.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
