We were staying in the area for the weekend and were looking for a good pizza place. Based on the reviews we decided to give Monical's a try. Since it was a Saturday night we thought it would be better if we just placed a take-out order. Calling the place took a while, must have called twice and after about 5 minutes of waiting we finally placed our order. But they did gave us a wait time of just 20 minutes. Once we arrived we found a very small parking lot next to the busy road but we managed to find a place to park. Once we walked in we found out why it took a while to get someone on the phone. It was a very cramped place and fully packed. All of the staff is incredibly busy and the phone just keeps on ringing. There's a line of people waiting to be seated right to the door. From what we heard it was an hour wait so keep that in mind. Now for the pizza. It was very good. I ordered a small pepperoni pan pizza while my friend ordered a small Hawaiian thin crust. Both were wonderful. I would say though that the cheese was subpar. Sauce was amazing, crust is good, but the cheese was just too tough and chewy. The menu also lacks other food items and sides. I've had better pizza. Is there even such a thing as bad pizza? It's not amazing but keeping in mind the location this is a pretty good spot if you're in the Minocqua/Woodruff/Lake Tomahawk area.

Great pizza and the staff is superb. Food arrived in a prompt manner and was hot and delicious. Great location overlooking a lake. Only knock would be a limited seating area and they can get pretty busy. Love going here and will definitely be back!

Horrid service...... Man....and she took my sunglasses. Because of numerous problem, I told our waitress that online it said awesome food terrible service. Well, so true and she did seriously take my sunglasses.

Great crispy thin crust, and their thick crust is not super thick and yet had a crispyness to the crust. We also enjoyed excellent side salads with our pizza.

Went with friends who have vacationed in Minocqua for the last several years and recommend this place (our first time for the area). Solid pizza, meh atmosphere -- typical neighborhood bar except for the great lake view -- but definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt. Others have given better reviews of the pizza, which was our focus and which was good. One of my tests for a good thin crust is whether it's still good when it sat in the car for a couple of hours afterward and still tasted good/had suitable texture back at the cabin. This passed! Kids and I split pepperoni, sausage and spinach (fresh). Good job, Monical's. "Cheddar" bread sticks as an appetizer were unimpressive. We got a cheese sauce that looked processed, and I didn't try it. The bread's texture and flavor made it seem like it was probably frozen. However, I give Monical's bonus points for listing Point beer as a domestic and charging domestic prices. Kids liked the place and ran around playing game machines afterward, leaving us to talk undisturbed and apparently without incurring anyone's impatience. Homey and casual.

Keep this in perspective people....it is the Northwoods! For the Northwoods this place is a five star, in reality it is a 2. Thin pizza is above average...even for Milwaukee standards. Sauce is ok, salad is good. Mozzarella sticks seemed frozen and fried. Worth the trip if in the Northwoods. Service is meh

Really good pizza. I am a pizza snob, and I gotta say Monacal's is excellent thin crust pizza. I came expecting bland toppings and card-board crust. Instead, we got crispy, tasty crust with delicious toppings. Far better than I would expect in the Northwoods, and probably the best I have ever had in Wisconsin. My kids are also "pizza snobs" and insist this is the best pizza they have had outside of Chicago. Service was great, as well. We got our Guinness drafts promptly after sitting down, and the salad arrived within minutes after ordering. Pizza came out as soon as we finished the salad. So we did not experience the service issues described by others. But we were there in early January, with no crowds. I could see how on a busy night service might suffer in the way described in other reviews, but I have seen that happen at a lot of otherwise fine establishments.

Two years later and the quality is still the same; LOVE the thin crust veggie!!

Good value for the money, average pizza. We had the pizza/salad/pitcher combo. Everything was pretty good, but you could tell that the pizza was made from 'off the shelf' ingredients (Monicals is a franchise) including the crust. However, the place is always busy, so they must be doing something right.

Wisconsin Northwoods thin crust pizza joint. We had the Monical's Delight pizza. The crust, sauce, cheese and toppings were excellent. Friendly staff. The restaurant, seated on a lake, is not particularly fancy on the inside. With that said, the focus of Monical's is clearly the pizza. The locals and the regular out-of-towners know this so expect to wait. The thin crust is great!

We are going again this year. This is the best pizza in the area. We stay at The Waters of Minocqua. We do the take out. Works out real good for the family.

I forgot to write about this happenin' little pizza joint from when I was here this winter. Easily the best pizza north of Madison. Their thin crust is so crispy and delicious and their toppings are super fresh. And of course, their cheese is fantastic. Just all around great pizza that doesn't skimp on anything. I went in with my family this winter and we got salads and bread and giant pizzas and just gorged ourselves. My sister used to work here years ago and bring home some pie and leave it in the fridge, and it would stay good for pretty much a week. How great is that?

Thin-crust lovers will like this place, the crust is crisp and wonderful when eaten at the restaurant, but if you get a carry out, it quickly picks up the flavor of the cardboard disk it is served one. So if you plan to get a pizza to-go, request that they cover the cardboard with foil so the flavor transfer does not happen. if you are a big eater, plan on getting a large pizza for yourself and one for each and everyone else at the table. This is the epitome of a thin-crust pie. the cheese and sauce and other toppings are also thin, but it works together very well because the flavors of each compliment each other instead of covering and hiding the subtleties. They have some great family offers, you can get a large pizza, a huge bowl of salad, and a pitcher of soft-drinks or beer for a very affordable cost in their "Family Pleasers" package deal. A great family place to dine-in. Parking is bad, it is a gravel/dirt lot with lots of potholes and puddles in it, no parking lines are drawn so it is a free-for-all when it comes to parking. It is very common for some idiot to park you in by blocking your way out of the parking spot. This is not an independent restaurant, it is a franchise. But there food and products are all good, nothing spectacular, just very good and very consistent. You can expect everything to taste exactly the same from visit to visit. Expect a wait to be seated in the busy summer months, but it is a wait worth waiting, this is not the best pizza in the world, just the best for the Minocqua, Woodruff, Arbor Vitae area.

Really good pizza! We have ordered for take out, and dined in multiple times, and the pizza is always exceptional. The service is pretty good, the hostess apologized that she could not hear me on the phone. If you go, order a sausage, green pepper and onion

Ate here on the recommendations from yelp. Very happy we did. Amazing pizza, friendly staff, very clean. An added plus for us it's on the lake so access when your out snowmobiling is easy as can be. If your in Minocqua and in the mood for great pizza I highly recommend! On a side note something we noticed when we were walking in. I believe it was the owner she was helping a customer out. He was elderly and needing the use of a walker. I found it very heart warming to see the compassion she had for her customers. There's still wonderful people out there and I felt blessed to witness one in action.

We ordered two large thin-crust pizzas for pickup the other day. I've visited the area for over 35 years and had never stopped here. Let me be honest...the pizza was delicious. And it was the perfect meal to feed the adults and kids. Everyone raved about it. It was a bit pricey in my opinion , but they had our pizza done on-time, they wrapped it in aluminum foil and a pizza box, and it was still hot when we got home. I definitely recommend this place--we will be stopping in again!

I'm from central IL so imagine my surprise to see a Monical's in N. WI. I stopped and ordered a cheese and sausage. It was just like being back home! DELICIOUS!!!!

Thin crust pizza is distinctive in Wisconsin, and this place gets it just about perfect. Crunchy, garlic dusted, and thin crust, a dash of sauce, a dash of cheese, and minimal toppings. It sounds like a ripoff, but it isn't, this is how it's supposed to be. The service was great, and I loved the homey feel of the bar area. I paired my pizza with a great glass of Leinenkugel beer, and it was just about a perfect night. Hope to return someday!

Has the BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA We found it by accident and the pizza was truly the best I have ever had. We love thin crust. The staff is incredible. The mother son team owners made you feel like you had lived in the north woods your whole life. They will talk to you like you are the only one in the room. THAT IS SERVICE. You can get your pizza anyway you can imagine as they will do anything to satisfy your desires. We liked it so much that we at there 3 times during a 7 day vacation.

Stopped in last night on the way thru town with my wife. Excellent pizza and very considerate of dietary restrictions. (My wife has a soy allergy). Always has been a friendly atmosphere and great food when I'm stopped in when I'm in town for the weekend.

We went Saturday night for pizza with a large group. Excellent food and service. Went back Sunday for lunch after being disappointed by The 19th Hole in Saint Germain. Highly recommended.

Good pizza, love the breadsticks. Typical Northwoods restaurant inside, with average/OK service- no real complaints. The first time I tried to call in and place an order on a Friday night they didn't even answer the phone the first 2-3 times, so there is room for improvement during known busy times. Will definitely order from them again.

Excellent thin crust pizza. Don't get discouraged if the service is a little slower in the peak tourist season...it's well-worth the wait. Great atmosphere and lake view too.

Pizza is pretty good! My order wasn't exactly correct and they were a little skimpy on the toppings, but all in all it was good!

Went here for a pizza a couple weekends ago after hearing rave reviews. The pizza itself was delicious - super crispy crust, good toppings, good size for the value. I have fewer compliments for the service. The server came over to take our order before we had even had a chance to look at the drink menu. Then she completely misinterpreted something I said and had the manager came over and talk to me. It was totally inappropriate and I'm not sure I would come back.
