I've been to skips many times in the past and thought their food was average but due to few options in the area I've eaten here when needed. Today was one of those days where a quick meal was needed for my family. I pre-read their menu on their facebook page and was immediately drawn to their high prices. The price that really made me do a double take was the price of their kids meal. $7.50?? Really?? I can take my kids to any high quality sit down restaurant within 50 miles and find no kids menu prices higher than $6.50 and that is for higher quality food. They really like to nickle and dime you here at Skips, you get charged extra for sport peppers, and it's .50 for refills.. (I haven't seen an eatery charge for refills since the 90's) I ordered the jumbo char dog and cheese fries.. My hot dog must had gone swimming because there was nothing "jumbo" about that hot dog. Was shorter than the bun and maybe 10% greater in diameter than your standard oscar meyer hot dog. Anyone from Wisconsin would be ashamed to call what Skip's provides you to dip you fries in as "cheese". Just a nasty yellow dip, after once taste ketchup was a much better option. Downtown Williams Bay really needs a quality restaurant/fast food option. Until they do my money will continue to go to outside towns that offer better food.
They should change the name to rips with these prices..wow. Food is good though. Burgers are a highlight. Fries just ok. Friendly staff.
Skips is a Williams Bay institution. We've been going for years dating back to 2003. Restaurants come and go in Williams Bay but Skips is there for the long haul. Pizza, burgers, salads, sandwiches, we've had the all. We usually phone in and order to go and take on the boat or home. With visitors we usually eat in and enjoy some ice cream after the meal.

Love this bar! It is the perfect amount of dive for me. The look in here is very old school, with an old wooden bar and one little pool table squeezed in. There are also enormous windows that give a great view of the lake. I don't think that the drinks were too pricey here. I don't entirely remember. The bartender was cool and took shots with us though, which I appreciated. This place seems to be a pretty popular local hangout. I don't know about the food, but from what I hear they have it. This is a place to drink beer and hang out with friends. The drinks are fairly cheap and the atmosphere is casual.
A Good place to grab a beer, friendly staff and good selection but this place is a dive.
Just visited Harpoon Willies yesterday. We are not from the area and obviously want to have good meals that aren't extremely pricey. The place was pricey for the amount of food which they provide. Considering the amount I paid for the baked rigatoni bolgnese I only received approximately 15 rigatoni noodles (in their defense the noodles were on the bigger side) but still not a lot of food. It did not have a lot of flavor and the meat in the dish was slim to none. I also ordered the sangria which was apparently on special, our waiter said that he is a "sangria snob" and that it tasted very good to him. I am pretty sure it was straight from a bottle and if you going to charge $8+ for a sangria it shouldn't be from those cheap bottles of pre-made sangria. I was not a fan of the flavor and wouldn't suggest to order this to anyone. Our server was very nice and I'm sure we just have different tastes, no fault on his part. As for my poor boyfriend he ordered the chicken panini. He seemed to enjoy it and finished the entire thing. We went back to our hotel and went to sleep an hour or so later. Approximately 2 hours after that he is throwing up uncontrollably for 45 minutes. I don't know if the chicken was not cooked right or if something else on the plate had something wrong with it but this has never happened to him before. He didn't get something that he never eats or something extremely spicy or different. I can't say with 100% certainty that it was their fault, but once again highly suspicious. If you're looking for affordable, good quality food I would keep searching. 2 stars because (it won't let me do 2.5) I finished my food, though not much flavor (plus I was starving), bad sangria, pretty good chicken panini with possible food poisoning, decent atmosphere/decorations, pretty scenery from the outside area. Pretty good service, friendly server.

After Checking in to the Abby Resort in Fontana, my fiance and I explored our options for a good seafood dinner. The concierge with out hesitation, recommended The Calamari Cafe in Willliams Bay. He called and made us 5 clock reservations. With 45 minutes to spear we had ample time to stop in at its conjoining Harpoon Willies Bar. While in Wisconsin, never pass up the opportunity to throw back some New Glarus. My favorites are Spotted Cow and Totally naked. They go down smooth and easy. Once inside, I suggested the best table in the house. The friendly host put us in an amazingly intimate area. . sorta of the nook of the restaurant. We had our own privet spot, not surrounded by anyone on either side of us. After browsing the menu, we both were set on the Seafood Diavolo. A dish of Prince Edward Island Mussels, shrimp, calamari, and King crab simmered in a fennel infused pomodoro sauce over linguine. I asked to substitute the shrimp for more calamari and it was not a problem. When our meals arrived I was amazed to find a lavish amount of seafood. I have in the past experienced the 80% pasta 20% seafood dish rip off. Well, this was 90% seafood over a layer of amazing sugo and tender linguine. My Fiance and I both finished it down to the bare bones of the plate. I seriously could have had seconds. Desert was Tirumisu. It was not traditional by any means and I am now disappointed that I can not find it anywhere but at this restaurant. I posted a picture in my album. It came is a glass and all I can say is, delizioso!!!! I am already making future dinner plans to go back. cafecalamari.com/#!__caf…
I sat on the patio, which was nice. But I have to agree, this place is overpriced and kind of slow on service. I was disappointed when my meal was not very good. I sent it back and they offered a remake. I declined because my group was halfway through their meals . I would give it another chance if the prices were more reasonable.
We ate there with a group of 15, (most of which were "foodies"), and we were all very pleased with not only the food, but the service, as well. The calamari was the best I ever had, and with a name like Cafe Calamari, I figured it would be good. However, I was surprised at how fabuous the filet was. It was perfect! I can hardly wait to go back!
