Thanks to Blake for the rough yet kept together objective review and Joel for the detailed follow up that's what brought us in. It was 30 min. to close so I called ahead to see if the kitchen would still be open and Ricky said he would make sure the cook kept the grill on if I got there within 15 min. which we did and which they did. They were out of our first choice spaghetti but we were warned before ordering so didn't have to change. We had prime rib sandwich which was about the best I've had. Meat was well done when usually better if medium but that's a tough one to pull off in a food service situation. It will be tough to go back to Culver's PR sandwich. 9/10 We had the pork chop which was good not great. Meat was tough and the sauce had an odd flavor I think had something to do with the char of the meat. 7/10 The waffle fries are in a league of their own. I'm confident I just ate the best waffle fries in America and I'm not looking forward to the next time I eat a chick-fil-a because it's just going to be a reminder of what I could be eating. They were more than crispy almost crunchy yet somehow not overcooked with some chew left to the inside. 10/10 best of the best The onion rings were really good. They looked odd compared to what I'm used to (like smooth and oily) but they didn't taste lily and the flavor was unique and awesome. 8/10 Homemade chicken noodle was the soup of the day and was probably the best chicken noodle soup I've had. Utterly simple soup. HUGE pieces of chicken I'm talking 1/2 the size of a chicken nugget but quality meat, large not overlooked noodles and just a couple veggies and simple seasoning so you can taste the chicken. Fantastic. 9/10 Now for the bar: They had dr. McGillicuddy root beer which was great I ordered a double amaretto sour which was made perfectly not too much ice and in a 12-16oz mug I wasn't driving so I followed up with a Lynchburg lemonade which the bartender didn't know but wasn't offended by me handing him my iPhone with the recipe. He made it perfectly and we chatted a bit he was very personable. 9/10 I didn't have the iced tea to see if the recipe has been modified to reduce the bitter from other reviews. The drink prices were better than Happy Hour pricing in a city. Double for $3 and $4.5 for the Lynchburg lemonade. if "chips" is included as part of your order do not substitute. They are fresh made potato chips and on par with the best I've ever had. The only I've had better included a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. These were actually cooked better maybe one "clinker" out of twenty. Fantastic 11/10 One star off for relatively slow (but very friendly and decent service). Waitress was not aggravated by our last minute arrival in fact two tables came in after us Including one that was seated 15min after close. In addition to some flies pestering us which understandably "middle of nowhere" location but who wants to see a fly where they eat. I plan to go back once more on our trip before returning home as the 3 hour one way drive means this will probably be the last time to have those fries and chips. Pay attention to the prices when ordering. For a "country bar" you'll get a bit of sticker shock when the bill arrives. I used the yelp discount to save $10 (20% which eliminated the sting). With the drink prices so low I was surprised by the $50 tab for two people but it wouldn't keep me from returning just be aware of the prices when ordering and do some head math to be prepared.

We've always stopped at The Bog on our way up north every Labor Day weekend and I've always loved this this place. I was super sad they got rid of their pizza menu because it was great. He said it just took too long to make for their kitchen which I get - but I was still heartbroken! My husband and I split the bog burger (Ricky warned us it would take awhile). The menu says is a triple decker yet it came out as 2 half pound patties. The menu also says he burgers come with homemade potato chips and it came out with fries. Odd! He asked how we wanted it done and we said medium to medium rare and it was well done. It was still fine, but I wouldn't write home about it being great or anything.... We had the cheese curds (they're OK- I've had way better and way worse) and the salad bar. Ricky the bartender is super friendly - beer is cheap. I'm just not as in love with The Bog as I used to be. It's a nice atmosphere and a convenient location off the interstate with friendly service when there isn't much else in the area.

Loved this place! After a terrible experience at a near by restaurant Thursday evening while we wee passing through heading up north, someone recommended we try this place next! The cheese curds were perfectly amazing. My boyfriend got the perch special, he asked for an extra piece and it only cost $3extra. The pieces were HUGE! He wasn't able to finish it all which is unusual for him. Only complaint is that the fish was pretty boney. I had a burger that was cooked perfectly MR as I asked for it. The waffle fries and coleslaw were great, too! Loved our server--she was very friendly and attentive. Will be back next time we drive through:)

Stopped for dinner on a Friday night. We waited only a few minutes for our table. The owner, came to our table to welcome us and explain the items on the menu. Our waitress was kind and attentive. The food was tasty and we very much enjoyed our experience. The pride of ownership was evident during our discussion with the owner. If you believe in the locally owned and operated restaurant this is a great place to stop. The waffle fries were fantastic and the they told us that the food is locally sourced.

Driven by here many times and now that I've stopped in I won't consider stopping for food anywhere else on my travels. This is a nice simple place to get a good meal for a good price. Nothing too fancy but not a dive either, you can sit at the bar or be seated at a table. The menu is simple but has more that enough choices to satisfy anyone. My wife had the turkey, avocado and bacon wrap which she really enjoyed and I had the diner burger. The dined burger is actually two burgers both on their own buns covered in melty cheese and grilled onion(exactly the way I want it). The beer was cheap and the service was fantastic. I couldn't have been happier with my time there. If you're headed down I-90 and you see Warrens ahead get ready to exit and have meal that leaves you feeling happy.

Get the cod sandwich. And the waffle fries. There is an adorable salad bar and sweet staff. Spotted cow on tap- and country music in the background. Fried cheese curds are fresh and lightly batter dipped. This was such a nice lunch spot for our fam while we were at the 3 Bears.

I'm not quite sure where to begin. We stopped here, after leaving the Dell's. It took a few minutes to be seated although having two employees walk past us. Once seated, we gave drink orders and we looked at the menu. Small menu, not a problem for us, our kids (7 and 10) are not picky eaters. Cheese curd appetizer, prime rib sandwich for the hubs, club sandwich for me, fried shrimp from the "dinner" portion of the menu for the 10-year old, and the soup and salad for the 7 year old. Give the order...but, wait. Oh, we don't have prime rib for the sandwich. Ok, fine, patty melt then, yes, fries. The 10-year old orders her shrimp, but, wait, what's that? You don't serve dinner on Sundays? Uhm, ok, I guess. BLT it is for the girl. Yes, waffle fries please. The 7 - year old orders soup and salad...what's that? No soup on Sunday, either? Hmmmm, wouldn't it be easier for you to TELL me what the hell you do have that we can order? Cod sandwich for the boy. Luckily, the club sandwich got a green light. Yes, salad bar all around please. Proceed to salad bar. Decent looking. But...what's this on the salad bar? Soup? Really? It looked like maybe cheese soup, so we passed on it anyway. Salads are underway. The dressings (Bleu cheese, french, ranch and Italian) were decent, and the salad bar is the only reason for the 2nd star. Salads are ending, cheese curds come out. Half of the curds were...empty. empty shells of deep fried crust. Looks like it was bottom of the bag for us. Maybe 6 cheese curds, the rest could've been chucked in the garbage because they were hollow or pieces of breading. 45 minute wait for the food. You read that correctly. 45 minutes for a patty melt, BLT, fish sandwich, and a club sandwich. For the most part, the drinks were kept filled, but the iced tea was the worst I've ever had. Anywhere. Food at the table, fish sandwich and fries. Boy is happy. BLT and fries - was supposed to be waffle fries, but whatever. At this point, she didn't care, she just wanted food. Patty melt and....maybe 12 fries. Hubs not happy. And then cuts the patty melt and realizes the patty is a fraction of the size of the bread. On the upside, he said the patty was actually seasoned nicely. The club sandwich was good....but, it's lunchmeat, bacon, tomato on toast with mayo so pretty hard to screw that up. $78 later, we left, feeling a little jipped. Good thing we had chocolate and treats from the Dell's to console us the rest of the drive home.

After reading the reviews, which were all high, we decided to stop there on our way home from Minnesota. What a MISTAKE! Everything we tried to order they didn't have and the waitress proceeded to tell us just about half the menu wasn't available either because they ran out of stuff or the cook didn't know how to make it. They didn't have spaghetti and meatballs! She asked if we were there last night because they were busy. One good thing was Spotted Cow was $2.

Stopped in for a beer. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Had a sample of a new creation the owner was making- awesome sauce, crispy fries and the new tortilla wrapped burger was very good! Chicken wings were flying out of the kitchen- didn't try them but they must be a favorite

Stopped by for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by a friendly hostess/server and seated right away. She promptly took our drink orders and then shortly after we ordered our meals. There was a slight mixup with our food but the staff was apologetic and made sure we were well taken care of afterwards. The food was well worth the wait. Our daughter had the grilled ham and cheese and said it was "awesome goodness". The ham was "super juicy". There were 7 people in our group and all of us had empty plates at the end of the meal. The pesto chicken, turkey club, cod sandwich and shrimp were all great! Homemade potato chips were a huge hit as well. We will definitely go back if we are in the area again.

Heard good things about this local restaurant and so we decided to go and check it out. Our server Lori was phenomenal and the service was spot on. Food was brought out to us all at the same time and was hot and fresh. I ordered the fried chicken with waffle fries and was in heaven. Definitely glad we decided to stop and venture into The Bog. Yum yum.

Great place to enjoy really, really good food with a well stocked bar and great service! Daily specials with a full salad bar! Yes, I am a huge fan and come here every trip I'm in the area!

I usually try to stop while traveling I94. The food is generally good but what I really stop for is the soup/salad bar. I was sad to see that they recently chopped their menu in half and really raised their prices. I stopped with family and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks. The waitress (who was "new") kept saying "they were working on them". Our lunches took quite a while but we ate on the salad bar so it wasn't a big deal. Lunch took so long actually that our waitress did not even realize that it had not been delivered and she instead dropped off THE BILL! The service has really become complacent. There is a bartender whom when working I refuse to deal with. He is horrible for business! The ownership is good but I hope they right this ship before things really deteriorate.

Food was descent. We had a chicken sandwich & a burger. It took at least 40 minutes for our food. The burger was very very pink, but the server was m.i.a. after we finally got our food. I watched other tables complain ...never received our appetizer ...this isn't the steak i ordered, etc. One of the servers walked around in a kimono robe, waaaay too tight top, and short shorts. The other server constantly nervously touched her hair & face. I could write more.... But i think that'll give you an idea. I actually wished we went through Culvers drive thru!

Kelsey was our server, and Jose the owner - two parts of a GREAT dining experience! It was such an awesome surprise, having just passed Black River Falls on I94, when looking for a close place to eat (the Love of My Life was threatening a 'hangry' state so finding a place was a matter of my life or death), we Yelped "Bog." We were very impressed with the service, fresh ingredients, and overall quality of the experience.. not to mention the beer selection! I would HIGHLY recommend BOG to anyone and everyone!

Fun, casual and good food. Diner type menu. I got the Firecracker shrimp appetizer. Surprise that they had a 50% off Yelp deal. Nice surprise. I Lso got their chili. My husband got a hamburger with curly fries. The firecracker shrimp was crispy fried big shrimp (enough for two) with warn spicy sauce on a bed of lettuce. Great choice especially if you like spice food. I do and loved it. My husband, does not like spicy but he could not stop eating it. Great recommendation bt friendly waitress. My husband's burger was suberb. It was called the Diner Burger. It was two medium size burgers with really good waffle fries. The waitress recommended the fried chips but if you really love waffle fries try them. They are great. Both were great and my hubby said the burger was he remembered his mother made. I highly recommend you try The Bog. Right off Hwy 94. I forgot to review the chili. It is a more homr.ade soup chili like mom made. Let the waitress let me make my own with cheese and onions..

I really would like to say something REALLY positive about this place ALL the time but I can't. We are here for the summer and the BOG is close by so we have tried their different menus (breakfast , lunch & dinner). Not real impressed with the breakfast, lunch is average but there wings are the best and don't get me started on the dinner, YIKES.... OK we ordered the Prime Rib last week and let me tell you. The cook doesn't know how to trim before cooking (need some fat) sliced it the wrong direction, warmed on a grill top so when we go it on our plate it looked HORRIBLE and I had more fat on it then I did meat....AWEFUL....For such a small menu they run out of stuff WHY to often. One day we both got ice tea! They ran out of tea but still wanted to charge us for 2 teas. You thought I was an EVIL customer by asking to have the teas removed since we only got one glass, server did remove one but let me tell you I wasn't happy about her attitude. Come on BOG you can do better you have potential!!!!

The Bog never disappoints - if you want good food from good people, this is the place for you. Ricky will always help you find a drink that will make you happy. Save room for the homemade desserts and chips!

I'm about to leave the Bog, and then I'm about to come back. The cheapest New Glarus ever, a bombin BLT, and homemade potato chips to beat the devil? Yes, yes and yes.

Ever since the new owners took over this place is amazing! The staff are all extremely friendly and eager to please. The decor has been updated nicely (I love that rustic flag over the bar) and the new drinks and menu items use fresh unprocessed food. I've had a different menu item every time I go and have been very pleased with the quantity, quality and presentation. You won't experience a restaurant as personal and welcoming as The Bog anywhere else!

Great place to go! Stopped in on a Monday evening on our travels back home. Food was super and staff so friendly. The cook even came to our table to see how we enjoyed the Jack Daniel honey mustard, which was excellent. Would definitely go back!

This is the 4th time I have been here, the 2nd since the new owners took over. I have to say there is something different about it. And by different I mean better. They have always been nice but now they are what i would call friendly. I had started with a beverage and they were happy to accomodate us when 20 minutes later we were ready to order. They gave us some suggestions for what to order and even had a sample of something to share. That seems like such a small town thing to me. I am from a large city and that never happens. I would suggest this place if you are driving through or on vacation with your family. A great selection of beer, a salad bar with soup, and amazing homemade chips with sliders. Ask for the horse radish dipping sauce!

My family ate here on our way to Three Bears Lodge. The service was good. We all loved the salad bar. Lots of different items to choose from like pasta salads & veggies. Burgers were great. Waitress was really nice and patient with us. Prices were affordable. Four stars because the spicy chicken fillet was tiny.

We stopped at the bog on the way from Chicago to Minneapolis. Thought this place had decent reviews. I was really excited about the fresh pies...too bad they were all out of pies. The menu didn't excite me with anything that stood out so I opted for the appetizer combo to try a variety of things. I was told that was not an option since they were out of most of the appetizers. Onion rings were good. Chips are fresh made so really good. I had the full pound Bog Burger with bacon and cheese. Burger and cheese were tasteless. Bacon was burnt beyond recognition. Service was ok...one waitress for the place but she seemed to have it in hand and friendly. If this place was fully stocked (I love pie and appetizers) and cooked correctly then it might be worth going back. However I would rather take my chances with Oko's on the other side town.

We were there last Saturday night. We were staying at Three Bears and were not too excited about the choices there. We had seen The Bog when we exited and I checked out the reviews on Yelp. They were pretty good so we stopped by. Very glad we did. The service was great and the food outstanding. The owners are new and they are working hard to make a name for themselves. We had the cod dinner and it was wonderful. My daughter had the bean and ham soup which was really good. Jose met us as we were finishing and chatted with us for a bit. He is very nice and you can tell he is working hard to make this place special. I am looking forward to eating there again.

The owner of the restaurant contacted me and asked me to give it a second chance which i will definitely do. He explained the situation and I totally understand So the following review should be ignored until further notice. It could have been just a bad experience and a bad day..which everyone has. More to follow after my second visit! I went with a party of 7 which was not a big deal they sat us right away. Server came out about 20 or so minutes later, we ordered our drinks, eventually received them. Then we ordered our food....30 minutes later our food came out. We ordered the prime rib special and some buffalo wings....both came out cold...not warm or Luke warm but cold. She told us the manager had to come check it...again took a while. Finally he came out took our plates and heated them up. Now I know every restaurant has a bad day but I will never return here. There is a positive note to this....we got 50 percent off the prime rib and wings. Total time there almost 100 minutes. Just another note...it was very cold in the building. They had a fireplace but no one was keeping up with it. I took it upon myself to add wood to the fire and that seemed to warm it up a bit.

Good food and clean restroom Spicy chicken sandwich not very spicy but ok for midwest hash browns were mushy and bland. However my wife liked them. Service was good I would go again. It is a nice place for what it is.

Based on previous reviews, I thought we were in for a treat. The menu was nothing special and the service was terribly slow. Plus, while there is a coupon for a deal on Yelp, our waitress didn't apply it correctly and so we ended up spending just as much if we didn't use the code. Not a good experience at all. Plus we overheard other customers grumbling about the situation too.

Decent food. What sets this place apart is the welcoming approach of the host and hostess. I had a fish fry dinner, which was really worth 2 stars, but the wife had a chicken burger, which made it a decent experience overall.

This was an absolute waste of money. Took us 45 min to get our food and they weren't even busy, the ice tea was bitter, the cheese curds were less then standard there were 6 good curds the rest was empty batter, they didn't have or want to serve 3 of the 4 things we tried to order they apparently don't serve most food at noon on Sunday. When the food came out there about 9 french fries on my plate and oh the 7 dollar salad bar was a joke most if the few vegetables that were there were old and should have been discarded. Over all very disappointed, would not stop there again and definitely would not recommend to anyone.
