As good as a Wisconsin supper club gets. All the traditional fare done really well. Prime rib, the best we've ever had, ribs with homemade gluten free sauce, lightly breaded fish, classic broasted chicken and homemade pasta for the nicely garlicky Alfredo. Portions are huge... to much to try the desserts but this is Wisconsin. Fresh, homemade and carefully prepared with the owner working the kitchen, it doesn't get any better than this and worth a trip to this interesting and eclectic community.

This old brick building holds some nostalgia for me, I've been coming here since I was.... 6? It's in the middle of a boo-foo town of 4,000ish people... it's one of the best restaurants in town (which you can decide if that means anything or not). It's cozy on the inside, there's a bar side and a dining side and they try to keep it up-to-date. A lot of familiar faces still work here, staff is usually great, they'll probably know if you're a visitor. I like the food, at least what I've had. I have tried other things but I usually have the broasted chicken and the salad bar, plus I love the bread (hot and freshly baked, it's delicious). They have prime rib on Saturdays, various specials on drinks, and have I mentioned the broasted chicken? Parking on street or in rear of building. So yeah, go to the Viking.

Ordered the broiled fish "royale". Described as fish broiled in oil and seasonings. It was not edible, mushy, and just disgusting. Served a cute little loaf of bread before meal. Was burnt. I flipped it over and put it at the edge of the table hoping the waitress would notice, she did, but didnt offer to replace. Oh well. Husband ordered ribs. They were so tough he had to saw them apart. He could not eat them. Ribs not made on site...just reheated from premade package and sauce put on top. Side of garlic mashed potatoes sounded great...it was whole red potatoes coated in some overly mashed potatoes. Whole potatoes were cold on the inside. Wait staff capable but not accomodating. Overheard someone come in for pick up order. Order was not ready, order was taken and never given to kitchen staff. No apology ever given. Instead wait staff asked them if they had errands to run, customer said "No I will have to wait". For 20 minutes this customer (older lady) was never offered a seat in the very empty restaurant or perhaps a (not burnt) loaf of bread and drink. That is what I mean by capable but not accomodating.

This is the dining equivalent of the fullback up the middle play in footbal. Nothing fancy but good food and well mixed cocktails in a classic environment. The food is better than what they charge.

If you're looking for a classic no frills Wisconsin supper club this is your place. It's not fancy. It's not uptown, but that's exactly why I like it. Classic American style dinners with a classic salad bar. The bar on the opposite side is a very nice place to have a few pints and relax. This place is well worth stopping at. Especially for a drink. Try it!

I love going to the Viking. I have yet to try something on the menu I don't like. My favorite things at the Viking are the Chicken Alfredo and anything on the breakfast menu. Huge portions.

Ugh. What an awful place. Dark. Dank. If you don't like cow try somewhere, anywhere, else.

We visited the establishment on a Wednesday evening after seeing their sign out front for Prime Rib. We had eaten here previously, however it has new owners and I have heard good things about it so we thought, why not? When we first entered we were greeted by a very friendly woman working the kitchen and directed to the front to be seated. When we got out front there was not a hostess there and after a couple minutes we decided to seat ourselves. A waitress came and took our drink orders right away however my wife had to return to the bar to get hers corrected (Pepsi with grenadine) after waiting approximately 15 minutes. Shortly after, another waitress came and took our order. She was very friendly and provided great service. By this time we had been seated about 20 minutes. It took another 40 minutes to receive our food despite there only being 2 other tables in the dining room, both with only 2 patrons. When we inquired about our food after about 20 minutes and seeing the other tables, who ordered after us, receive their food we were told their policy is not to put the order in until they have cleared all of out plates from the salad bar. When the food came out it (we all, other than our 4 year old, ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare) it came out very dry, cooked more medium to med-well, and was very bland. Due to the length of time it took to get our food in the first place my 4 year old had become tired and restless and didn't even touch her food. When we were finished the waitress asked how everything was and if it was worth the wait. Apparently she caught my hesitation in answering and asked me to be honest. I told her the service was good but we were less than impressed with the presentation, taste, and portion size of the entrée and stated that for the price, in comparison to other local places, they did not compare. She asked if I would like to speak to the owner and see if something could be taken off the bill but I told her I was not looking for anything to be comped but just giving honest feed back and really needed to go because I had tired kids already waiting in the car. From that point it took an additional 25 minutes to receive the bill. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant and do not plan on returning myself. There are many better options in the area where you can and will receive much better food at similar price points.

Restaurants come and restaurants go but the Viking is forever! I've been visiting this classic Wisconsin Supper Club for 14 years. Always friendly service though there have been a few slower servers throughout the years. Regular updating to keep it looking fresh...though there's something about this place, maybe the building, that still gives you a back-in-time vibe. And the menu and quality of food is steady. I love the salad bar. I never have the soup but the family tells me it's always good. The salad offerings are fresh and varied with the coleslaw being exceptional. Try the broasted chicken...delicious! On the weekends there's prime rib...excellent! Parking on the street, in the lot across the street and in the lot behind with a door that leads to the bar area. The bar has tables and is darker and quieter than the dining room.

I really like the people here and the food is just okay. Slow down on the salt...salad bar lettuce was old...ick. But, for the $, it is hard to beat and the service is solid.

Great people and service, cold beer, good salad bar, old frying oil. Fish and fries flavor was not good. Will try the ribs if I get back in the area

The Viking is my place for Saturday night prime rib. A well stocked salad bar, cheese plates, garlic toast, a king portion prime rib and baked potato- I always have to loosen my belt buckle a couple holes! They have a great big parking lot out back- enter through their back door from the lot and into the bar. This is the best you'll find for miles.
