I would highly recommend this place if you are gluten intolerant! Best focaccia paninni ever! Light and springy! Chocolate Chip cookies are amazing! Very cool ambiance. I would recommend supporting this local business!

Deliciously historic building. Good espresso! Bakery is average. Would hole up here to study or visit anytime. Love the artistic bents that fill every cranny of this place.

Decided to swing in here on a recommendation from the front desk at my hotel. My room wasn't ready and they suggested this place when I asked if there were any coffee shops around. The atmosphere is good, in the basement of a historic building. Free wifi is always great and there was a variety of different age groups represented. The chai latte was delicious and although I didn't have any the deserts looked awesome.

I love the atmosphere at Red Mug. A bit tucked away & very cozy. One of my favorite places to get a cup of coffee or tea & write. be sure to get one of their baked goodies! Absolutely delish!!

The Red Mug is the greatest! I always get the vegetarian panini and whatever soup they have on offer for the day. Sooooo delish. The peanut butter and chocolate bar is TO DIE. They always have the coolest art on the walls and it's a really nice place to enjoy a sandwich or a coffee or whatever. They have their own bakery upstairs where you can get all kinds of goodies and the heaviest loaf of gluten-free bread ever. (Seriously, it's like two pounds.)

I am editing my 4 star review. "Meh. Ive experienced better." is my star choice. I want to share a few tricks Ive picked up on to make my Red Mug Coffeehouse experience the best these days. #goindownhillfast Ask if the soup is fresh. If its fresh, its great. If you go there every day, youll notice that they reheat the same left overs all the time. I am proud to say I counted the algerion soup served SIX times in two weeks. Dont believe me? Ask the barista working. #ishouldbeapi #itlookedlikeredoatmeal #whereareyouhealthdepartment? #thebreadhurtsmyteeth #imoffended Watch for prices and dont hesitate to talk to your barista. For example, the menu says my almond milk option is fifty cent. I asked for a receipt last time and they charged me 75 cent. When I pointed this out, the baristo man offered me a regular cookie. Close but no cigar here baristo #thanksforlisteningaboutmydairyallergy Choose the right barista. The older red head is angry and forgetful. Her drinks are too. Wait for a different barista if you want your moneys worth. If you want a memory of your angry and forgetful experience with her, you can buy a tshirt of her picture... #ilovewaiting15minutesfor2badmochas #stopaskingifiorderedasconewhenididnot I have never experienced my meal coming in five to seven minutes like Drew G posted in 2013. I have waited 19 minutes for a delicious turkey and cheddar on bread that had not one cranberry or walnut like the menu read. And I watched and stared and saw the barista who cooked my sandwich eat chips from my basket before she walked it to me. #truestory I still ate it. It was good #bewareduringcoldseason? Don't unload all of your work on the first trip down if its too early or too late. Drive by and look through the window first. Sometimes theyre open when they're supposed to be; sometimes they're not. #putupasignpal #buyawheelerbackpack This is an indie joint in every sense of the word. Cool digs, but could be better. Edit: was better. #iguessnoonecares #imstillpissedyouateoffmybasketagainlastweek #feedyourbaristasbeforework #hireanewcook #almondmilkupchargeattack #whyamistillafan?

I've been here a few times now and I must say, I'm a fan. When friends want to meet for coffee, I ask "Have you ever been to Red Mug?" If not, I suggest it. Great coffee joint to chill and hang out. Different than you're average Caribou. Each drink is served in a real coffee/tea mug. Everything is freshly made/steeped, not to mention the staff here is absolutely fabulous. Super zen atmosphere. Great music.

In from Chicago and I love this place. What a wonderful coffee shop and check out their bakery, too.

The nicest coffee place in Superior. The staff is really nice, the coffee is good and the place is really cute. This is definitly the best place to have a coffee, to study with a coffee and a cookie or to chill with friends. I really like this place.

The bakery is to amazing even the gluten free food. It's the only place I go to for gluten free cookies! Prices are decent and service is usually pretty awesome!

A great cup of joe, lots of art, friendly people surfin' the web and happily chatting. A welcoming space to kick back for a relaxing break. You must also visit their bakery, located upstairs from the coffee shop. A wonderful smell of breads, cupcakes and cookies. This is where I found some outstanding pretzels. Crunchy and golden brown outside, chewy and heavenly on the inside. While you're there stop in & see Karin Kraemer at Duluth Pottery. She'll share some stories while you browse her studio and find some beautifully decorated pottery too.

I come here for coffee and they have coffee. Once I asked for something else and they didn't have it but that's ok because it's a coffee shop and you should not ask for things that they don't have (i.e. furniture, jewelry repair, 401k advice). When you get coffee here it comes in varying sizes and flavors, with "small" being the smallest of the sizes and "large" being the largest. If you can't make up your mind they have a "medium" size that is somewhere between these two sizes. It is in a building.

This is just about the last place I would expect to find in this neighborhood...and it's so cool! Cool atmosphere, friendly barista and great coffee from Duluth Coffee Company (I was also pleased that they were brewing three varied roasts even late in the afternoon.) We had a pumpkin cookie which was TO DIE FOR, subsequently learned they were from the bakery upstairs, and went to pick up a box of them. (We also picked up a loaf of bulghur bread which is also fantastic.) Definitely worth the excursion.

Coffee shop downstairs, Red Mug Bake Shop upstairs; different hours, same deliciousness. The bakeshop upstairs has a good selection of treats, jarred goods, and bread loafs; all scratch made, and from what I have tried everything is very good. The coffee shop downstairs has ample seating, a menu with sandwiches, panani, drinks, coffee, and a small selection of cookies, muffins, and scones from upstairs. The atmosphere is a little artsy, but the staff is nice and the baristas know how to make coffee right. Lots of different seating areas ranging from tables in the open to counters and tables hidden in little corners. Good place for a quick meeting, afternoon brunch, casual get-together, or just somewhere to get away and get lost in a novel or daily newspaper. Both the coffee shop and the bake shop are in the same brick building on the corner of the road. There is a private parking lot with tons of potholes behind the building. They also have artwork for sale on the walls of the coffee shop. Overall I would recommend this small cafe; there is a variety of comfortable seating, variety on the menu, friendly baristas, and the bake shop upstairs is great to grab a treat on the way out or on the way in.

Stopped by while visiting to run Grandma's Marathon. Easy to miss, it's tucked away in the basement of a big brick building. Definitely a hidden gem of a place though! Service was fantastic, very friendly baristas. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed and low key. Food was good and great priced too, grilled cheese and chips for less than $5. Definitely check this place out!

I've wanted to come here for years. Red Mug exceeds my expectations for quality, ambiance, and variety! Pastries were baked moments ago at a bakery upstairs. There's a full breakfast and soup menu. There's searing on three levels. Convenient location with free off street parking.

I love small/homey feeling coffee shops and this is precisely what the Red Mug Coffeehouse is. Great prices, great coffee and a great atmosphere. Superior is a unique city and this is a hidden gem near the police station. Highly recommend!

Very good baguettes and bread, somewhat oily focaccia. I know some great and less expensive bakeries in the Twin Cities, so more expensive than I'm used to, but otherwise good. Nice and cozy coffee shop downstairs.

Artsy. Cute. Definitely the gem in this small town. Need better signage! Chai latte is delicious. Everything is Eco friendly--love. The prices aren't outrageous for gluten free items, soy options, etc.

Before my weekend excursion to Superior, I checked out the available coffee shops and this one stood out. I made it a point to go there almost immediately after arriving in town. I was impressed. Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Great food. If I am ever in Superior again I will be back. Also, cool little art shop connected to it.

What a great coffee place to have in Superior! A wonderful place to meet friends or just enjoy a bite and cup of coffee on your own. They serve locally roasted, fair-trade and organic coffee, which is definitely a plus in my book. As well as soups, sandwichs, pastries, etc... Additionally they have artwork and music from local musicians or artists who play there. I love it and whenever I go home I stop in.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars - I loved the quaint space, the baked goods, the awesome customer service, the guy with a ponytail playing piano, the red mugs... Everything a coffeehouse should be EXCEPT - good coffee!! Tasted old and my refill wasn't even hot. This is the second time I had subpar coffee at this joint so I know it's not a fluke. So sad considering this may be the coolest place in Superior.

A gem of a place in Superior Wisconsin. It is in the basement of a historic brick building. Red Mug is nicely decorated with a good feel to it. The wait staff is friendly and our order came quickly [about 5-7 min from ordering]. There are a lot of baked goods to choose from for dessert and a nice selection of gluten free items. My veggie panini was great. It came with a pickle and kettle chips. The ciabatta bread is made in their bake shop and had great flavor and texture. They have a soup and sandwich combo meal and salads to choose from, too. If you are looking for a quick lunch with high quality food and great atmosphere stop by this coffee house.
