Great place!! Walked in and was promptly greeted and given the suggestion of better service in the bar (dining room was full). The bar is aimed to please the college crowd with TVs at every high top and multiple big screens behind the bar. Tons of cold shots are available if that is your thing, short us also has 3 signature drinks: panty dropper, giggle juice, and the shark bite. I would expect a mean hangover after any of them as they looked to be sugar and liquor. I was surprised to see everything on the drink menu has prices. We ordered poutine to start only because I've never seen it outside of Canada. I would of been disappointed if it wasn't for the smoked meat we had added on it. The pizza came shortly after and was hands down the best pizza I have had in the twin ports area. The home made crust was near perfect, I wouldn't call it thin nor thick, and was not hard nor undercooked. The sauce is also homemade and compliments the crust wonderfully hidden under the 1 ounce per inch covering of cheese and generous portions of toppings. The bar filled quick after we arrived and the sole bartender that doubled as our server kept his cool and did a great job keeping up with the rush, we never had to wait for drinks. I could see this place getting pretty wild later in the evening filled up with college kids but the dining room option lets you avoid that environment if it's not your thing. I will return often for the pizza and $12 beer buckets! I would recommend shortys to anyone and suggest you check it out also!

Yes! finally a place in the Twin Ports that I can write a positive review about! We tried Shorty's today and were very impressed. I was told by a friend to make sure I try the smoked meat which I did. I had the smoked brisket sandwich which was yummy. They are big on caraway rye bread which I personally don't care for but you can ask for other bread. My husband had the smoked meat reuben which he loved. They cater to the college kids so they have lots of slushy foo foo drinks and also many pre chilled booze dispensers....The place itself is very nice and has a good feel to it. Plenty of TV's to watch sports which is cool if your into that. We look forward to returning to try the pizza and other items....and the service was great which is rare in the Twin Ports................i.e The Anchor Bar which sucks in so many ways I don't have time to explain, see my review of that crap hole if you are interested..........

Excellent pizza. I would rate it overall a 9 out of 10 for Superior pizza places. It was nice to walk into a downtown eatery and have such a nice atmosphere. The place is remodeled very nicely. I will be returning to try out other menu items

Very good place to eat, highly recommend this place. Our waitress was very knowledgeable. Ordered the Thanksgiving balls, French Onion soup and the Schnitzel sandwich. All were very good.

You could hardly tell by the service that they are new as the staff seems into the swing of things. The service was swift and attentive. We ate here on international talk like a pirate day so we ordered in pirate speak. The waitress went right along with our sillyness. The pizza was crisp and cooked well. The toppings were good and fresh. They really loaded on the cheese. The beer came in a few size choices. My sweetie got a 50 ounce which came in a hilariously huge glass. Perfect for pirate day lol. The beer selection was so so. My son said their Italian sausage was really good! Overall we enjoyed shorties and are likely to return.

Three words. Fan Fricken Tastic!! Had the DDD pizza and it was more than I could have imagined. The only problem with the menu was there were too many choices and not enough days to eat there. The staff was great and the place was clean, 11 thumbs up.

Service was fast and friendly and the chicken pot pie was craaaazy good. Hope to get back there soon and sample more of the menu. Very welcoming atmosphere, esp when they found out I was a first time visitor to the area.

I was close to my destination in Superior on the Wisconsin side of Duluth, MN and didn't want to be too early for my 1:00PM appointment. Not being familiar with the area, I thought I would yelp for lunch and that is how I found Shorty's Pizza nearby. Parked on the street right in front of the door. Walking into Shorty's felt like I was entering an iconic neighborhood tavern with the long bar lined with stools, beer signs, Green Bay Packer logos and multiple TVs tuned to soccer. I opted to not mention my Seahawks recent dominance to the regulars lining the bar. I was hungry but still needing to behave on this 5 day 1300 mile road trip so I overlooked the pizza page and zoomed in on the French onion soup. I asked the server about it and he informed me that it was many of the regular lunch and dinner crowds favorite menu item! The stone crock of sweet goodness was delivered post haste, piping hot out just out of the oven. The cheese was plentiful, gooey and stringy all the way from the bowl to my mouth. OH MY! It was really great soup with gobs of sweet onions. The next visit will be the soup and maybe just a slice of their pepperoni!

Tried this place based on Yelp reviews. Found out when I got here that Guy F from Triple D had been here. I ordered French Onion Soup and a regular size Reuben sandwich. Soup presentation was great. Consistency of the soup was great too. Where it fell a bit short for me was the sweetness. It seemed sweeter than just the use of sweet onions. Still a decent soup. The Reuben was very good. The meat was quite flavorful. It was a bit lightly sauced for my taste, so I asked for more Thousand Island dressing on the side. All the difference! I'd order this again. I took a bite of the Meatball sandwich my wife ordered. The meatball was flavorful, albeit a bit spicy. Here again, it was light on sauce. My wife didn't ask for any extra sauce but also felt it needed more. The tap beer selection was decent too. I'd eat and drink here again.

I came based on signs that stated that it was on a tv show. I came I to fairly nice and smiling servers and some fairly loud music. It was okay for me as I sat and read a book, but would probably be less okay for someone who wanted to watch the game on one of the tv's. I waited a while for service, but I also came in by myself so I understood. Once I was waited on my server took great care of me. I of course had to order the sandwich that was featured on the show. Which did not disappoint. The chicken was juicy, and the cranberry wild rice bread was amazing. The truly disappointing thing was the side. I ordered French fries and was sad to be given a plate of fairly burnt and cold fries that were very bland. I loved the sandwich but was disappointed with the fries. Maybe next time I'll order a different side.

WHAT AN AWESOME SPORTS BAR. I heard of this place whilst staying in Duluth and soon saw it on DDD. The Huntsman chicken sandwich was phenomenal and I hear the pizza is top notch too. I'll be back very soon. Sheila, Andrew, and Elizabeth were great company and very accommodating. If you're within 20 miles of this place you must stop by.

The smoked meat sandwich is amazing. The French fries are bad. I think they only fry them once. The poutine is an appetizer if there are at least four people, otherwise consider it a very bad meal for two. I do think the smoked meat is terrific and I've had pastrami in New York at Katz and The Carnegie. The service is good and beer selection is good for Superior, WI. I would recommend it to anyone in town.

We saw Shortys featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and decided to check them out. The restaurant was easy to find and had a large parking lot attached. We got one of the last spots in the fairly large lot. When we entered, we sat ourselves in the main dining room. A waiter came to the table with menus and got our drink order within a minute or so. The restaurant had a fair amount of seating and they were very busy. We started with the Thanksgiving Balls, Cheese Curds and Poutine. The Thanksgiving Balls were good, especially with the cranberry dipping sauce. The Poutine was a very large portion and contained a fair amount of gravy and very good cheese curds. The cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had! They were gooey and crispy and had a very good dill ranch with them. I ordered the Shortys smoked meat special sandwich. It was delicious! The balance of meat and cheese was just right and the egg took it over the top. The others at my table had the Reuben, French Onion Soup and Pepperoni and Italian Sausage Pizza. The Reuben was very good and had brisket on it, which was a nice surprise. The French onion soup was good, but nothing special. The pizza was absolutely amazing!!! The crust was crisp and the sauce was flavorful. The amount of cheese the pizza had on it was to die for! We ordered the pumpkin cheesecake and peanut butter pie for dessert. The cheesecake was good. Had a nice thin graham cracker crust and good flavor. The peanut butter pie was luscious! Would recommend this place to anyone!

Great food! We tried the meat lover's pizza and the Reuben sandwich. Their smoked meat is fantastic. The service was prompt and friendly. They were still pretty busy for late on a Saturday night. I highly recommend them if you're in the area!

Not bad! Had the Thanksgiving Balls which are what you'd imagine - not spectacular but were tasty. Also had slow roasted pork sandwich w/gravy. Was good but wish it would've been shredded not sliced. Good beer selection and if you're in the mood to revisit that crazy sugar high long weekend you spent in Vegas, they have plastic "yards" with many different choices of slushy boozy goodness to go in them. Fun decor and many tv screens to watch the game. Will be going back to try their pizza.

We had lunch on Friday and Saturday during our trip for Grandma's Marathon. On Friday, we shared the smoked meat sandwich and a small pizza with Italian sausage. The smoked meat was tender and delicious. The pizza was cheesy and good. On Saturday, we had the sunrise burger and bacon cheeseburger. Everything was fresh. Desserts looked good! Another DDD joint that lived up to the billing. Wish we lived closer.

Unbelievable... went today at 3pm 8 people at the bar sat there for 10 minutes without even a hi or I will be right with you better yet not even a smile.. as we walked out the people sitting next to us said I dont blame you for leaving.. as we drive down Tower with bar's on both sides of the streets we knew we had other options......many options. Sure did not live up to it's hoopla. For us now as we pass the place .....Shorty means short stay......

Started with the Thanksgiving balls based on the recommendations and was very disappointed. Avoid them unless you like soggy stuffing since that's all they were. Pizza was quite good. Tons of cheese but I like it a little browned and was only melted and warm. Crust was good and sauce was a little sweet and not too much. Also had a smoked meat ruben and it was very good. The meat was a little chewy and overdone (like burnt ends) but had very good flavor without being overpowering with smoke flavor. Service was mediocre at best but it was lunch time on a Saturday with lots of kids and family tables.

Normally I avoid 'new' businesses for the first couple months, just to give them time to work the bugs out of their system....but after seeing the menu for Shorty's online, I couldn't wait. We ordered a 16" cheese pizza, the Poutine and the Thanksgiving Dinner Balls. The pizza was perfect. The crust was crispy on the bottom, but the edges were just thick enough to be a little chewy. The cheese was salty and delicious. The poutine probably would have been better if we'd have eaten it at the restaurant, once we got them home they were a little mushy instead of crispy, but I loved the squeak of cheese curds when I'd get a bite of them. Thanksgiving balls..well, it was the only downside of the meal...what tasted like Stovetop Stuffing inside a deep fried shell. Luckily, I happen to love Stovetop stuffing, so it wasn't a total loss, but I don't think I'll rush out to order them again. All in all, I think Shorty's may have just passed PizzaMan as our 'go-to' pizza joint!!

Ate here several times now. Great service. The portions are huge and the food is excellent. I have yet to get the pizza but it looked good. I had the nachos once and five guys couldn't finish it. The servers have all been great. Hunters chicken sandwich rocks! I will be back!
