Drinks are overpriced, and menu does not change. Parking lot makes it seem busier than it is, so make sure to go inside and check the wait before driving on. Service can be hit or miss, and pick up orders are always 20 mins longer than what they say, maybe to get you to buy drinks

The goat cheese and chicken wontons were phenomenal. Just a hint of kick with the sauce. The French onion soup had a smokiness that was unique. My hubs enjoyed the steak fritte and liked it. I had the special halibut with goat cheese and garden pea risotto. Wow! I really enjoyed it. The risotto was surprisingly light. We'll be back.

Chives has delicious food that is always changing with whatever is fresh. Service is great!

We came here for the first time the week of our wedding with our parents, and had the most wonderful dinner. The service was just as fantastic as the food, and they in no way hurried us along. We ended up being the last people in the restaurant. There are lots of little nooks with tables that make it easy to have a group conversation while still feeling the ambiance of the restaurant. Love!

I almost hate to write a review for Chives because we feel like it's one of our best kept secrets but since some of the Packer players have tweeted about it we may have to start sharing our favorite restaurant! My husband four years ago said he wanted to take me to Chicago to have some of the best food ever but I didn't have a thing in Chicago that came close to Chives food. Love that they offer small, medium and large plates as I think the misconception about Chives is that it's expensive but we have had so many good things off of all three options that we can testify that no matter the size or price everything is just delicious! We have also experienced the chef's table for an anniversary two years ago and we had amazing food and a great time in the kitchen.

Today was my first visit to Chives. My husband and I enjoyed our cocktail and wine, fresh baked bread and herbed butter, oysters, fresh haddock and butternut ravioli. We can't wait to return to the restaurant for another great dining experience. The atmosphere and service were very good too. Hope to save room for dessert and French pressed coffee on our next visit.

I had the opportunity to dine at Chives with a friend I had not seen in a long time. Both my time with her and my experience at the restaurant were wonderful. The restaurant is lovely, homey and quaint. There is a certain elegance that emanates from the decor and the staff as well. Chives is not stuffy just classy. The service was superb. I had a cocktail and she had red wine. The waiter was quite knowledgable and kept up with my friend the"oenophile". We started our meal with crab cakes. Three tasty little patties served with a roasted red pepper aoli. The crab flavor was pronounced, a rare find with crab cakes. We had the butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sauce and the salmon. When we asked the waiter for a recommendation he did not suggest the salmon. We ordered it anyway and it was somewhat lackluster. Lesson learned! The ravioli was excellent however. The pasta was al dente and the filling slightly sweet and quite delectable. We had chocolate cake for dessert. It was amazingly rich and creamy. This is no cheap date. With tip the bill came to $105. This is a special occasion destination.

Very disappointing meal. The steak fritte and the fries that came with it were poisoned with salt and garlic powder. The salad was drenched in dressing. Took the steak home, cleaned it up, and the next day it was still just so-so. We used to think of Chives as a restaurant that serves a consistently good meal. Not anymore. Our meals were ordinary at best, and not as good as we could have found, for half the price, at a steakhouse chain. We're saddened to discover that we can't rely on Chives as we used to. To be fair, the service is very good, but not good enough to make up for a high-priced mediocre meal. FPH

Fantastic! Great food, great service! If you go to Green Bay, you must go to this place to eat. We love coming to this place when we lived in Green Bay and whenever we return to visit. Whether we order their french onion soup or their steak, we know we will enjoy and savor every bite. My wife is also a huge fan of their ketchup, which they make, and always orders another container on the side just in case she runs out. But be warned, you really should make reservations prior to or else you will suffer a long wait, especially on the weekend night.

Exceptional food in a cozy atmosphere with great service. I had the filet, beautifully done, tender as butter and wonderfully presented. My partner raved over the duck and the baked goods. Desert was from their own bakery and just as out of this world as the entrées. If you like baked French onion soup be sure to order theirs, you'll be in heaven. Dinner, desert and a few drinks for two came to $120.00 before the tip. Worth every penny but probably higher then the average tab as we added cocktails, desserts and soup. Enjoy!

Ate here a couple of weeks ago with my wife and some friends. It is located off the beaten path in an old, historical building for a great atmosphere. I had the Halibut with crispy mushrooms and asparagus. Everything was delicious. Server was attentive. This was our second time eating here. The first time we sat a the chef's table inside the kitchen itself. Food was great then, as well. Specials change regularly so there is always something new to try. Highly recommend.

Food is superb! I had the filet which was like butter and fork tender. One of my friends had blackened wahoo which was probably the best. Two others I was dining with had pasta with braised lamb, very good. Downside, dessert, which was the adult ho ho, it didn't taste like it was made on premises, but it was still good. Chives is small and very crowded. If you dont have reservation be prepared to wait. It is one of the best restaurants in Green Bay hands down.

Chives is a great restaurant, in a somewhat/very out of the way place. The food was very good to excellent, and the service fantastic. If I come back to Green Bay I'll most likely be returning!

What a find! From a chef that cranks out high end cuisine at affordable prices (not to mention oversees a goodwill bread baking mission in Africa) to super friendly waitstaff, and the occasional weekend cooking class, all in Suamico, WI? Can't beat it. I highly recommend Chives. The chef's table here is a very reasonable $65 per person (when we went, anyway) and well worth it.

We had eaten at Chives one afternoon and received some fresh baked bread. My daughter is vegan and they made a delicious vegetable dish for her. Nothing seemed to be a problem. They bent over backwards to accommodate her. We decided to go back yesterday and bring our vegan daughter and our vegetarian daughter. We didn't receive any bread and asked about it and were told that bread is only served in the evening, but we were there in the afternoon just like the first time. My vegetarian daughter loved her risotto but my vegan daughter had rather tasteless vegetables and a very small amount compared to the first time. The server was as helpful as he could be but I don't understand why it seemed like such a problem this time and why we were made to feel like we were crazy for asking for bread. We hoped Chives would be a place we could meet our daughter from time to time since she lives a little over an hour north and we are an hour south of there. I'm not sure if it is though since they don't have much for vegans to eat. We will try again and hope it is like our first visit. Bring back the bread for lunch too please.

I've been to Chives many times, and am always very happy when I leave.Love the menu choices, which they always have fish, chicken, beef/pork, vegetarian. We never get bored with it like many places because the menu changes. The quality of the ingredients are fresh and simple, yet elegant.Prices are low to moderate, something for everyone. He makes everything fresh on site, including the ice cream and salad dressings.I know this because I took one of his classes.Very fun.

I've been to Chives usually for lunch on and off over the past few years. My most recent dining experience was for dinner. With reservations we were placed in the back dining area. I'm not sure if this is where people with reservations are given preference or if the last few reservations are placed. In any case the dining area was awkward. The room was nice, but with only two tables filled in such a small room I felt the couple behind us were commenting on our conversation. When the third and largest table was seated this stopped being an issue, but until then it was awkward. The main dining area is very attractive. It's altogether relatively small, with a tiny bar area near the front that, on busy nights, can make it hard to enter/exit the restaurant. It's definitely a lovely, cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is always filled with beautiful suburban people complete with Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags. This makes for fun people watching, but can also be incredibly irksome. The menu changes fairly regularly I believe, but the options are by no means limited. The sandwiches have an extra something to make them stand out, as do the salads. Both my date and I enjoyed our dishes. I had an exceptional ravioli pasta dish which was great. I also really enjoyed one of the drink specials that was offered that evening. Price wise Chives is slightly more reasonable than Republic or Black & Tan downtown, but not inexpensive. Service was very good. Nothing that makes it stand out, which can obviously go either way. My biggest problem with Chives is it's location. It's north of the city, in a tiny (almost nonexistent) area. If you're not familiar with the area it can be difficult to find. There's little around it, although that can always change. The restaurant is a historic building which is very attractive. Perhaps its the location that helps give Chives its charm, but it's extremely inconvenient, even for someone living in the northwest part of the city, especially considering how many other great restaurants there are in the city. As others have stated Chives has a private Chef's table that can be booked for a 6 or 8 course meal for a group. While I have not yet had the opportunity to do this, it would be the one main reason that I make the extra effort to dine at Chives in the future.

Chives was GREAT. Last year. I am so disappointed I could cry. This was our favorite place to go. We went in a while back and the seating changed for the worse, I was bumping elbows with a complete stranger. I had to send the food back because it was cold and undercooked. We went back to give it another shot, everyone has a bad night but we were again disappointed. This is a classic case of a good thing that got too cocky for it's britches. Please care again!!

I'm fairly new to the Green Bay area. This is hands down my favorite place to go out. Great ambiance, super nice staff, and if you have the opportunity to do the chef's table - do it. Very cool experience. The bar area can get crowded, but that happens anywhere. I have not had anything that I didn't love leaving Chives. Their French onion soup is the best I've had. Anywhere.

As the world's youngest Bob Newhart fan, I came to Chives to attain sustenance before Bob's show at UWGB. I have been to Green Bay one other time in my life, so I had no clue where to eat. How did I find this fine establishment? Well, I googled "Aaron Rodgers' favorite restaurant", of course! I trust 12 in all facets of life. It was very cold on this dining day, and walking into Chives was a very welcoming and warm experience. Their staff is very friendly and took us right to our table. We started off with the chicken and goat cheese wontons - which were some of the greatest things I've ever eaten. GET THESE. They are accompanied by a spicy apricot sauce as well as a delicious vegetable slaw garnish. These were full of goat cheese and just perfect with the sweet/spicy sauce that was drizzled under it. The crab cakes weren't as good, unfortunately. While they certainly weren't bad, they just didn't taste much like crab and were bland in flavor. The crab cakes were a 5/10 while the wontons were an 11. SOUP TIME! The crab manhatten soup had the same faults of the crab cakes - just not much crab taste. The french onion soup, on the other hand... oh yeah. That's the stuff right there. Best I've ever had. Plenty of onion, crouton, gruyere... this soup completes me. My wife and I shared everything at this meal, and our entree of choice was the fish fry or fish'n'chips - which is served daily. When we were brought our two plates, we were worried the waiter had made a mistake. We decided we were just going to wait and see what happened when the bill came... but we couldn't believe that what we each received was a split (or half) portion. Well, IT WAS. It was extremely kind of the waiter to split this dish for us and give us each ample ketchup, tarter sauce, chives fries, and veggie slaw along with two pieces of cod EACH. The entree was great - by the way. The breading of the cod achieved a lightness that is sometimes hard to pull of. The tarter sauce and ketchup both seemed to be homemade. While I didn't love the fries (they were of the "matchstick" variety), I kept eating them because I thought this was the best ketchup I had ever tasted. If the ketchup turns out to be Heinz I am going to lose any and all credibility I once had... but I will stand by this statement for now. Yes, I want dessert - I drove quite a ways to eat here. The ho ho cake was good, but the Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookies were even better. They tasted like they just came out of the oven... and they came with ice cream and a caramel/fudge dipping sauce. You heard me - warm, soft, delicious cookies with ice cream and a caramel/fudge dipping sauce. One of the best desserts I've ever been served at a restaurant. Next time you're in Green Bay and you want to have a nice dinner, just ask yourself... What Would Aaron Rodgers Do?

Came here on a recommendation from a friend because she said sometimes some Packers players come here. I could care less about the players now the food was amazing. Very cozy place with great service. Only side note is that when they say a dish is a large plate, it's LARGE . Me and the other half ordered the steak fritte to share. It was really well cooked and very flavorful. Great place to come for a meal whether it's lunch or dinner. Now I'm sitting here trying to make room to try to squeeze in a bread pudding.

I've been to Chives many times as I live very near the restaurant. I've had some spectacular food there (the Chefs table is simply amazing) and I've had very average food. For the most part the food, overall, has been average to slightly above average for this type of restaurant and the price you are paying. However, the food quality is very consistent and you will rarely get something below average. My wife and I were there again recently and we both had steak (filet and Ribeye). Both steaks were done to a very good medium rare but both were lacking flavor and seasoning. My Ribeye was under seasoned and chewy which is never a food thing in a steak. Our appetizer of Chicken and Goat cheese wontons was extremely tasty and worth getting every time we go in. Our dessert, a salted Carmel cheesecake, was not done well. It was over baked, lacking creaminess and was lacking in flavor. The salted caramel on the side was very well prepared however. Overall though its not a dessert you should be charging $7 for. One thing you can never fault at Chives is the service - it is always friendly and attentive.

Delicious! Highest quality ingredients make this made from scratch food taste amazing. One of my FAVORITE places to eat in all of Green Bay, Appleton, and Oshkosh. Worth the drive because you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate with always great service. I would highly recommend making reservations if you are going on a busy night. Great place for birthdays, anniversary's, or just a nice dinner out. Have never had a bad plate of food. Do not be worried about the price because it is one place where you actually get the quality of food that you pay for. The menu rotates depending on the season and the regular menu both have great options ranging in plate sizes.

What a great little place! The atmosphere is wonderful, and there is no doubt you're in a small Green Bay outskirt town. The lunch options were great - I loved my soup, salad and grilled cheese sandwich. Watch out for those bay leaves though, they serve the soup littered with them! I would really like to go back for dinner. Seems like the perfect spot for a date night out. Another thing to note: they serve burgers rare. If you'd like what I think is medium-well, ask for what they call "medium-well-plus." Otherwise medium-well is no char/grill marks on the outside, and pink on the inside.

What a hidden gem! This charming little restaurant is located just outside of Green Bay (in the town of Suamico, just off Lineville, to be exact). Having grown up in the area I'm familiar with the glut of chain restaurants surrounding Lambeau Field: giant portions, bang-for-the buck, big on salt, low on taste. So what an absolute delight to find Chives as I was searching for an intimate venue to host my parents' anniversary dinner. Cindy, the owner, couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. The interior is warm and inviting, as you are greeted by a small cozy bar area and for that evening we used the back room, which isn't fully closed off but is slightly set apart for extra privacy. The best part, though, was definitely the culinary delights the Chives chefs served up! The french onion soup alone was so gooey and delicious with its caramelized onions...I do not know how they make it but my sister-in-law (who has traveled extensively) proclaimed it to be the best she had ever had. I chose the filet of beef and can safely say it may have been the most savory, tender filet I've had, which is quite a statement considering I live in the city of Chicago. I made my entire party sample it and everyone agreed it was melt-in-your-mouth good. And I must mention, while Chives certainly excelled at providing us a special evening and wonderful dinner, I would not hesitate to stop in for lunch or dinner on any other "ordinary" day. They feature a blackboard of daily fresh specials and a specific lunch menu, as well. Bottom line: in a city not exactly known for its culinary prowess, I am comforted to have found Chives to be at least one exception.

I don't know which awesome part to rave about first. The interior is just beautiful; great decorations and colors and the space is well-utilized. I didn't get the pleasure but chances are high you'll spot Aaron Rogers -- or so I've heard. The menu is even more beautiful! I had the chicken goat cheese wontons with a spicy sauce. The sauce really made the appetizer. I was disappointed with the butternut squash ravioli because it had a super creamy runny sauce and no where in the item description on the menu said creamy sauce. I wouldn't have ordered it then. Too watery but the ravioli itself was delicious. The service here was really good and I liked their drinks a lot. Great beer selection.

I had the pleasure of enjoying the Chef's Table Saturday night at Chives. This restaraunt is one of my favorite places to go, the atmosphere, service, class and food are some of the best around! Our chef's table was romantic and cozy and all 6 courses were amazing! We started off with an oyster soup and a salad with a fried duck egg ontop, followed by salmon and steak filets and a wonderful lemon dessert. We were both highly impressed and it was one of the nicest dining expereinces I've ever had. We will definitely be back to do it again.

This is a really nice little restaurant in a suburb of Green Bay (those who actually live out there are more than welcome to correct me on location). A friend took me there last night, claiming it was one of his favorite restaurants. It's a fairly small place with nice ambience, a good wine selection, and really good food. We shared some appetizers - goat cheese and chicken dumplings (either fried or sauteed) with a spicy apricot sauce which was fantastic; white asparagus in a brown butter which was also fantastic; and mushroom bruschetta which was good enough for me to actually eat a piece, as I usually do not like mushrooms. Interestingly, my soup was French Onion a'la Thomas Keller, he of the French Laundry in California. I've never been and will probably never go, as most of that food looks way to cuisine-y for me, but the soup was outstanding. I don't know if chef Keller knows about this little place doing what I guess is his recipe, but either way it was a great little bowl of soup. My friend said the veal scallopini was very good but a little sweet. My pork tenderloin was well seasoned and the potato pancakes (latkes, basically) were nice sides on the plate, and the cinnamon applesauce was a nice chinky touch, but the pork was a tad overcooked, even though the very nice waiter said they cooked to medium. By then I was pretty stuffed anyway, so eating half of the entree was no loss for me. The wine selection is really affordable, with no wine I saw over $100. Still, three of us were able to enjoy a Justin Isosceles and a Silver Oak Alexandria, and the total bill for three with appetizers, soups/salads, entree's and desserts was $315 ex-tip. I went with a cheese platter, which was quite good, though not as artisinal as I'd hoped. Still, each bite of cheese got better with the sips of wine - funny how that works out. Overall, after coming off Hinterland Brewery, it's good to know there's good eating in Green Bay, as I'll probably be out there again in the future.

Out of all the bistros I have been to (I have been to many in the Chicago area) this is my favorite. The steak frites is one of the best items on the menu. I recommend ordering the fries (which are superb and even have chives in them) on the side because they are normally served under the steak. They soak up the wonderful juices of the steak and get a little soggy, but maybe some of you would like them this way. For me it always comes perfectly prepared which for me is red but warm in the center. The Keller French Onion is among the best French Onion soups I have ever had although it is heavy. I have also had fantastic game and lamb here. Some of the menu items are unique and different from what I have seen on other bistro menus. The decor is country and lacks the sleek lines found in some of the bistros in the big city, but it is well done. Hopefully you will have the opportunity to discover this unexpected gem in this pedestrian town.
