Really good donuts for cheap! This is a classic small town bakery. I eat my fair share of gourmet donuts, usually costing 2-4x the cost of a donut here. They don't exactly have the most unique options here, but the standard raised options are fluffy, moist, and delectable. They do offer coffee but it's pretty basic with no barista service or hand made options. I much prefer a donut shop with a nice espresso machine to pair with my sugar. Overall great option in Stoughton and clearly above grocery store options!
Love this place! Yummy baked goods! Their scones are to die for!

I emailed a picture of what I wanted a on the cake for my husbands 60th birthday and the design turned out excellent. It was very close to the picture. The cake had great taste too. I highly recommend Carrie to make your cakes.
5 of us came in for breakfast. Good food, mediocre service, and maybe a bit pricey for what it is, but not too bad. ($9 for a smallish omelette with toast, extra for homefries. Fresh ingredients. Two tables that arrived after us received menus and had their orders taken before us, and finished eating before our food arrived.
My dad and girlfriend call this place "the sisters" because it's owned by two sisters. This is the first place I went to once getting into town. I enjoyed it. It's very small town, "where everybody knows your name", we walked in and they knew my dad's girlfriend and she got "the usual" The food was good! I had intentions on going back to try the lunch/dinner but never made me way back. Next time I'm in town I plan to frequent them often. My dad and girlfriend got a few pies from there for Thanksgiving and apparently they weren't the only ones with the idea because the Wednesday before Thanksgiving they had several people coming by to pick up a lie or two.

In short, I'd give this place 6 stars if they'd let me. I live in San Francisco and enjoy the artificially low prices and great value provided by a restaurant community that's in sync with agriculture in its community. It's an absolute breath of fresh air to see the same phenomenon in my home town of Stoughton, Wisconsin. It's hard to imagine better quality at these prices. When you throw in the perfectly designed, warm interior it is simply the no. 1 choice in Southern Dane County. The bar is small and classy but staffed w/ great folks. I can't speak to the craft cocktails, but it is one of the better beer lists around; in Wisconsin that's saying something. My only criticism is that they don't serve breakfast. Stoughton doesn't have a quality breakfast place within 10 miles of it, and I know Wendigo would knock it out of the park.
I live down the block from Wendigo and go there at least once a week. The bartenders and wait staff are friendly and awesome. Everything on the menu is delicious, especially the green bean casserole and the mac and cheese. I ask them to add a little garlic to my mac and cheese, and that absolutely blasts it off the scale of awesomeness. The artwork on the walls and in the front windows is pretty cool too.
Wendigo takes your every day food - burgers, club sandwiches, salads, etc - and gives them a twist. Every dish tastes like it was made with love. My favorites include the Clubhouse with sweet potato fries (oh my god, best sweet potato fries in the world) and the Strawberry Rhubarb salad. My husband and I try to make a point of going at least once a month, though ideally we'd go at least once a week. Did I mention they have brunch? Because oh my god the brunch... So. So. Good.

Highly recommend! Had a late Friday night dinner. Awesome food, worth the cost. Paid about $75 for two meals: a beer, greens salad, bread, crab cakes, salmon entree, pork schnitzel entree, cheesecake dessert. Everything tasted amazing, and the service was great too!
Decent wine list. Great service and the food was awesome! It was a bit on the pricey side and the menu short and sweet. if you do go, the bacon wrapped shrimp is amazing. We had 3 "small plates" which were not small by any means. And the owner came to our table and chatted with us about the ingredients and our plans for the weekend etc. It is a cute, family run restaurant with upscale food you would expect to find on the square and not in Stoughton. We will go back to try the entrees, keeping in mind the range from roughly $20 to $39. I would give it 5 stars but they had country music playing on a poorly placed sound system, and the decor is not spectacular. For the price of the food I would expect a litter better ambiance.
I have been so blessed to live in a town that has Big Sky! Tonight Chef Sean topped himself, as if that is possible. I had the Tenderloin Oscar. Perfection!!! It was served on a bed of herbed rice, my choice, and beyond compare....open flame grilled veggies. Perfection. This is my favorite place. The menu changes regularly. The chef is open to your tweaks on his food. Fresh ingredients, locally sourced when possible, eco-friendly. Fabulous. A must visit.

If you are thinking about, do it!! Gas station attendant recommended. We laughed a little pulling in thinking: one and done. Nope do not judge a book by its cover! We had the salmon pinwheels, wings and poppers. I have no idea what I liked best. All excellent. Lots of Friday fish coming out of the kitchen. Must be great too. Service was great. Lots of staff.
So this is a seat your self place. Which is actually kinda nice. They have lots of tv's going with different sports to watch. The soup was amazing and best of all made in house. The steak was perfectly done only problem was it wasn't seasoned well :( but cut was excellent just a slight amount of fat on the edge and good marbling to keep the meat nice and tasty. The grilling was a perfect searing. The servers where very pleasant and helpful in making a dinner selection. When traveling through this is a must stop for food.
Interesting lunch this PM, sat at bar and waitress took our order, pretty much never saw her again except she had to be tracked down for us to get our check. Ordered meal and it took a far amount of time considering they weren't busy. Got our food, nothing special and then proceeded to watch a couple of waitresses just hanging out in an area that is marked no loitering unless you are there to get food from the kitchen. One waitress is busy working and 2 others just bullshitting ignoring all the customers.

We just love the Kup! Breakfast is great but the Dinners with a glass of wine is the best. Very busy but the waitstaff does it with a smile. My favorite last night prime rib, my husband liked his walleye. It's a must stop!
I love the Koffee Kup. While I have mostly been there for breakfast, its good for lunch and dinner too. Food is good, staff is very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. There is a reason why many restaurants have come and gone but Koffee Kup stands. Any of the omelets are good, and they are available all day. Stoughton is lucky to have a place like Koffee Kup. I want there as a kid, and now I bring my kids there. Its part of the personality of the town.
One of my favorite places to have down to earth, hearty food. My favorite? Lunch time! The burgers are wonderful, the service is fantastic. It is a beautiful building with lots of history...You can see old articles and photos in the front by the cashier. I like to take my out of town visitors down for breakfast in the morning on a weekend day before venturing off to the world.

BBG's has really upped their game. We used to come here often when they first opened, and it was great. However, in the last couple of years, the quality of the items we liked best (soup, salads) were hit or miss. Came today for the broad menu and the ability to hold a conversation, but not much expectation for the food. Boy, were we surprised. The salads we had today were excellent! Large, fresh, well prepared. Two people also had the soup, and gave it high marks. Service was good and reasonably fast. Definitely a good place to come for good food and conversation, somewhat of a rarety in Stoughton.
A typical american food joint with decent service and alright food. We got burgers and curds and were not exceptionally impressed nor let down. I think thats how I'll leave this review, ambivalent. That well reflects my thoughts. As always though, take reviews with a grain of salt and give a place a try yourself.
Wow they've got an extensive menu here! Everything from pizza, pastas, wraps, burgers, paninis, steaks and more 'dinner' meals. The parking lot was packed on a Monday night. Our group got the buffalo chicken wrap, Monterey chicken sandwich on ciabatta, bam bam chicken panini, and taco pizza. Evening tasted very good, not like your average bar food. Everything was about $9+. I just wish they were more generous with their sides. I got the smashed potatoes, which were essentially mini hashbrowns, and only received 7 of them. They have daily specials and I guess Monday was half priced pizzas. We sat by the kitchen and noticed all the servers bringing our pie after pie after pie. We were made aware of this after commenting to our server to which she replied, "yep half off pizza night". The food is for stars but I'd say the service is a three since they were mostly a younger bunch. Would have appreciated more attentiveness. Overall, I'd stop and eat here again!

Hull’s Never Mind Bar

201 S 6th St
Stoughton, 53589
Reviews:
I was driving around southern Wisconsin with the exquisite Gina S., the GPS map turned off. We stumbled upon a parking site that had a sign thanking the fine people who have bought hunting licenses and supplies to finance this spot. Under the sign was a deer hoof, cleanly cut and still attached to part of the leg. Our walk was lovely and full of much needed sunshine and fresh fresh air. We suprised a pheasant, heard something we are sure was a monkey, and even think we found a dead pirahna in the creek right by an ancient cast iron tube that helped channel water and make a bridge. Much care was taken to avoid the giant alien spores that, when poked with stick, released with a squeak a fine smoky mist of what we are sure are mind distorting / genetic code transforming spores. In fact, as of now I am not sure if we ever left the woods. We may be slowly being digested underground by a giant fungus, and all I am experiencing is a hallucination to ease me into an slimy fate and our skeletons will one day be unearthed by a pair of FBI agents. How else to explain driving through the, dreamy, lovely town of Stoughton, deciding to park, and then deciding to get some beer at a place called The Never Mind. Besides the bartender, we were the youngest ones in there. Awesome. We were looking for a space at the bar to sit when a couple of fine gentlemen offered us there seats as they left. It's real wood you sidle up to at this place, and the back bar is too. You get spoiled with the old Chicago wooden bars at places we like to go to here. Budweiser on tap is $1 a mug. 1$. Awesome. The sun was setting and giving us a great light inside. The 6 of spades was taped to the wall behind the bar. The dart (well saf-t dart) board was ready for you to thrum darts over the heads of the ladies on the stools in front of the video poker screens. We spoke with the big farmer on my right who had his land 6 miles out of town, 11 kids, and a RN as a wife. He had been on the stool all day and we struck up a little conversation. The people here are definitely locals and regulars. Very welcoming though, because it has a University of Wisconsin campus there so they are I'm sure used to having us out of towners show up. Especially us FISH from Chicago. We stayed for a couple of beers, spending less than $10. We hadn't eaten since our brunch so it wasn't taking much to give us a buzz. Little did we know what we had waiting across the street at The Whatever bar. 4 stars because they were definitely happier to see Gina S. than me at this bar. An old guy gave her a hug that went a moment too long. I kept my cool. And this is also the type of place that would warn you to stay off the moors, or the giant would appear and tell you it's happening again. And that's kinda scary. Still I can't wait to go back. I hope the underground fungus hallucination takes me back there soon!

Went to Halverson's for a fish fry on a busy Friday night. It took a while to get seated but it was well worth the wait. We found out they do take reservations. I ordered a classic Brandy Old Fashioned & it was very tasty. For dinner I ordered the 4 piece fish fry dinner. The fish fry was fantastic! The service was good especially considering how busy it was.
I just got back from a 3 day canoe trip down the Yahara River chain starting in Madison. We stayed two nights down the street at the Crown Point Resort so we ate here two nights in a row. I was not disappointed. The first night I had the stuffed chicken with an appetizer of potato skins. I'm not the kind of guy who eats at Chili's, so I hadn't had potato skins in years. These were perfect - pure Wisconsin. Good cheddar, flavorful crispy bacon bits, with enough potato left on the skin. They were piping hot, but the cheese wasn't burnt. The soup was tasty as was the main course including the green beans. My buddy got a slap of ribs. They must have known we had worked up an appetite because they served up a 15 inch slab. He finished the left over 2 ribs the next day. He said they were good. The following night we came back for the Fish Fry. I hadn't had a Haddock Wisconsin fish fry in years, so you might want to take that into account, but it was really good. I'd heard this place when through some difficulty a while back, but it's quite good now and the prices are very affordable.
Used to come to Halverson's often as a kid. Stopped last night for prime rib and one word describes our dinner- awful!! Prime rib was tough. Ordered it rare, came out medium. Coconut shrimp had no flavor. Looked good though. I gave this trip 1 star cuz the waitress was efficient and engaging.
