I enjoy this spot. Good coffee, tea, etc. Also good sandwiches and soup. They also have free wifi. It is located on a corner north of downtown Spooner. Parking is mostly on the side street. Employees are friendly and helpful in answering questions about the menu. I highly recommend this spot for a coffee break or a lunch. I think you will enjoy it!
What a great find! Heading back to to the big city we wanted "fancy" coffee! What a cute little place with great mixed expresso drinks! Also grabbed some treats for the road! Very friendly service!
They offer gluten free bread for a dollar extra. However, the waitress said they do not clean off the grill so cross contamination is a huge problem. Then she proceeded to say "I don't know how anyone could possibly eat that stuff [gluten-free bread]." The insensitivity and lack of care for someone with celiac disease was very off putting and frustrating. The drinks are fine but I know I will never be eating at this place going forward. Especially since I couldn't even have a panini with the gluten free bread they offered, I had to order it without the bread.

Best food in Spooner WI. Fresh, organic and tasty. We had the spring rolls, heathy salad and Thai quesadilla. They were perfectly spiced and beautiful. Only place to eat healthy in Spooner. Trust me on this. Added bonus: Starbucks coffee.
We found Spooner Market and Grill on Yelp and it was another Yelp winner! We came for good coffee and breakfast and we weren't disappointed. We had a latte and regular coffee. Both were good. We had their multi grain pancakes, one with blueberries and 2 with chocolate chips. Exquisite, healthy and filling. We also had a vegan burrito with a cilantro salsa. Also excellent! The restaurant is on a picturesque small town street and has sidewalk seating. Very responsive staff too!
GREAT breakfast here...love the breakfast sandwich to go. Nice location on "mainstreet" of Spooner.

This is the best option for groceries in the area, in my opinion. They have a nice produce area with lots of choices. Also a deli where you can eat in or do take out. The meat selection is equally expansive, as are the grocery and frozen foods section. They have a large selection of beers and wines. Also a sizable health and beauty aids section. Lots of parking out front, although it gets a little crazy with shoppers, so drive carefully in the lit. Friendly employees.
Wonderful costumer service. I called today to have dinner catered to a family (despite the day of notice) and April was extremely attentive and helpful. Thank you, Economart!
When will I learn. It's a 3rd generation business so maybe nobody's checking the quality to taste-test incoming produce? Once again, mealy watermelon, old apples, spongy strawberries. Of course, the bread, canned goods and cereals are great as with any other store. They really come in for the kill on the wine & beer...way overpriced!

I love the service and the food. Fast and great diner food! We always order out but their burgers are the best!
A great place for breakfast! My meal was perfect. The staff is incredibly friendly. Get a piece of apple pie to go. It's homemade, delicious and huge!
This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast in Spooner, especially if I'd overindulged the night before. The food is decidedly dineresque and portions are more than adequate to cure whatever hangover you might be suffering from. The decor inside is northwoodsy, just in case you forget you're eating breakfast in a town that is surrounded by primo spots to hunt and fish. The service is FAST and the bathrooms here are some of the cleanest I've found in town.

Met an old friend here for dinner recently and it was very good. My foid was excellent. The place was clean and the server friendly
The lettuce on the salad bar was wilted and shouldn't have been serve. The house made salad dressing was more like paste then dressing. I asked for a well done steak and received a pink cold piece of beef. The menu itself is puzzling and there aren't a lot of options. If you are from a big city and expect a good variety then this isn't a place for you. I will not be back unless there is nothing else open within a 30 mi. radius.
WOW! Great service. Steaks that melt in your mouth! And COOKED CORRECTLY! I asked for Medium and got a steak which was cooked medium. The ribs literally fall off the bones. Salad bar is nice as well. Very clean restaurant and bar. I went to the bathroom, which to me is a true reflection of the rest of the place. It was spotless! The fixtures were shiny. The sink was very clean. Can't say enough good things about this place. We tried it last night, and went back tonight it was so good. Monday nights they have 12 inch pizzas with 2 toppings and a pitcher of beer for $10, or the pizza by itself for $5. EXTREMELY Family friendly!!! They have built in shelves full of books for a book exchange, with an entire shelf with CHILDREN'S books!

I can only attest to the carry out pizza, and the pizza is the best we have had in the area! The pizza is fresh, with quality toppings, good balance of flavors, and always ready on time. The only thing I would like is for them to offer a larger delivery area. We live just under 20 miles away so I know I am dreaming for pizza to be delivered that far out. A girl can dream though!
I can only comment on the takeout pizza which was EXCELLENT! We picked up, one of sausage, onion, green pepper and one ham and pineapple. They were fantastic. The place was large, bright and clean and the service was friendly. The menu looks good too, next time we are in town we will be back for sure.
The pizza was good, taco pizza wish it was shredded lettuce and not chucks. The thin crust was good and the toppings pretty good. Good pizza and the spudster so good and so worth the calories. Service was fine.

I have had the Cajun Burger several times now and it is amazing--hand pattied burgers-great flavor with nice heat. Always busy!
Good Up-North food. We ride our ATV's there a lot and it is handy, on the trail and plenty of parking. Pizza is good, mind you I am not a gourmet pizza fan, so when I say it is good, I mean it is good for a pizza joint. If you want 5 star cuisine in Spooner then head back to the cities. For what they are trying to do they do it well.
Pizza is good but menu listed 16" house special for $16.99 and they charged me $21.99. Need to update website or at least tell you the correct price when you order it. Deceptive.

We stopped in around 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon in July. The pizza was great! Service was great too. But it wasn't crowded.
What a clown show. Pizza takes FOREVER. Waitress and bartenders were crabby. A very poor experience. Go to The Shop behind A&H of you want pub fare with better service. Or go to McKenzie Landing if you want a little classier meal. We are NEVER going back to What the Heck...
Great place to eat while on vacation.

Stopped here on a road trip, and first thing: don't stop here if you don't have much time. It's a seat yourself place and at lunch time, the waitresses seemed hurried, distracted, and flustered--but, friendly nonetheless. It took about 10 minutes for them to come by with the menus, and another 15 after that to take our orders. From there it was about 20 minutes to get our BLT and omelette. Friendly service but nothing to write home about, same for the food. Interior was the average small town sorta shtick. Overall it was fine but not great. Would stop by again, but not if I was in a hurry.
Barf. Food, yuck. Buffet, yuck. Service, yuck. Restrooms, yuck. I'm shivering just thinking about it. No thanks.
It's difficult not to judge this place from its decor--or lack there of. To the eyes of a city-slicker, the dirty fluorescent lights, standard issue banquet chairs and paper thin walls were a bit of a culture shock. We had heard good things about the place, however, so we decided to stick it out. There is nothing fancy going on here, but that's not why people come. They come for the kind, attentive servers who are only to happy to chat about local events, explain the menu (we actually overheard an elderly patron ask what a quesadilla was--sounds terrifying!), and bring you a pitcher of water if you've been out in the sun too long. I decided to go with the "broasted chicken," which was proclaimed to be "famous" on the town's website. I was expecting something soggy, rubbery or dry but what I got was a golden brown, crispy chicken breast and wing loaded with flavor and moist as can be. The fame was well-deserved. I opted for the spicy potato wedges and coleslaw and it was all quite satisfying. The wife's chimichanga was about what you would expect for a small-town diner--unexciting, but huge and edible. It was a disappointment that they just emptied the crumbs from a bag of corn chips onto the plate rather than open up a fresh bag, but it's not exactly the Ritz, so we shrugged it off. Overall, dinner was very satisfying, especially given the price-to-portion ratio. We opted to take some dessert to go. After seeing the table next to us order some strawberry shortcakes that were piled high with whipped cream and strawberries, I was tempted to get that, but we went with the chocolate mint pie. A bit pricey at $4, but well worth it. Featuring a chocolate cookie crust, topped with a layer of french silk mousse, mint mouse and chocolate whipped cream, I could have eaten a whole pie in a sitting. Good thing we were miles away when we finally tucked into it or I would have!
