Reviews:
I was in Racine, WI for work and needed to find a caterer for breakfast and lunch. There are several in the area, but after looking online I found Charlie's menu and my ordering options couldn't be clearer with pricing and all! Being that I'm in TV and Film, reviews go a long way in knowing if I could satisfy a crew of 25+ with an unknown vendor. Unfortunately, Charlie's has no reviews anywhere online. This is why I am writing this. They deserve high praise and all the business they could get. I and my crew couldn't be happier with the quality of food and service received. I called to verify their ability to accept credit cards, to be clear on the amount of set up time and items needing to be provided by us (tables). They answered all my questions and were really good and super fast about sending me updated invoices as my menu options changed. You can also submit an order online and they send you the invoice off of those options chosen. Not to mention they were able to take my catered breakfast order on less than 24 hours notice. Fantastic presentation (we were eating outside), and friendly service. The chicken was raved about by everyone! I will use them every time I'm in the area for work again.

Love their wings. Hate that they're closed for lunch! I live in Racine and work in South Milwaukee. I used to stop by on my way home to pick up wings. Since they don't open until I get off of work it's impossible for me to order in advance and I don't have the time to wait for their fryers to heat up. Very disappointing.
Damn! Kyle beat me to it! This is by far the best place in the small suburb of South Milwaukee, WI! Great bar food as Kyle mentioned. Fun atmosphere. Good beer selection. Awesome bands (well one at least). And the most fun you will have at a Halloween party in a bar. Great service and superfriendly owners will have you coming back over and over again.
This is a great corner bar in South Milwaukee. I come here for the 40 cent wing special on Sundays and Wednesdays. These wings are huge and I mean HUGE! There are tons of flavors to pick, from mild to Boom Boom. I personally love the Honey Mustard and Teriyaki wings. I know, I'm pretty weak with spicy foods. I also had the fried mushrooms and toasted ravioli and loved them both. There is a great beer selection including my favorite, Spotted Cow! Great job adding the bags section. It has been fun playing the last few times!

I came in here with a Living Social special for bowling for 4 people for 2 hours which included shoe rental and a pitcher of beer. I must say that I was very impressed with this establishment. There are only a few lanes, but the environment is cozy and seclusive. My mom and some friends came a second time to take advantage of the Living Social special and they ordered a pizza and thought that it was delicious. Will definitely be returning.
My parents love their thin crust pizza but I think it tastes like cardboard with sauce. The thick crust is usually better but still not great. Their peporoni tastes fresh though.
I recently attended a Retirement Party for some friends here. I was actually quite impressed! Our Buffet and Service was outstanding. Several different Pizzas, Pasta and Salad were kept piping hot and fresh by a very attentive staff! The place itself is quite unique. sort of one stop shopping. Banquet Facilities, Restaurant, Bar, Bowling and even a Basketball Court upstairs. Everything but the Basketball Court is Wheelchair Accessible. I can't wait to go back and let my inner Earl Anthony out!

Azteca Mexican Restaurants

Reviews:
Azteca is our go-to place for lunch buffet on any given day. They have a plethora of options that taste amazing, and are always stocked. Their pico de gallo is spot on. Be sure to let them know if they're running low, they will give you a time frame on when it'll be ready. I like their options of salads and pastas also available. They even have dessert on the line. Nothing like finishing a meal up with some tasty Jell-O Jigglers!
Delicious taste of Mexican food in South Milwaukee! I was happy to check one if my "to try" bookmarks off the list and hit up Azteca today. It was easy to find with plenty of street and side parking. There's not much to appreciate about the ambiance. It could use some freshing up. Within the four walls are a mix of tables with banquet chairs and booths. Not representative of the food at all. Service was great. After a quick run-down of the menu I went with the chicken enchiladas Rojas. They came hot and steamy smothered in red sauce and cheese. The chicken was moist and full of flavor. The side if beans had a lot of flavor. Maybe cumin? Either way they didn't taste like they were from a can. Rice was lacking and tasted like rice-a-roni. Rice can be hit or miss so no biggie with me. I would have gone with the lunch buffet, but it was a Saturday. It's definitely a better deal as the standard menu prices are on the high side. Maybe next time I come I will do it during a weekday. It's worth another trip.
This was really good! The bucket of beers was a great deal for a weeknight out. My margarita was great and not too overpowering. The food was hot and served quick! Our server was awesome! She was very friendly and helped us decide on what we wanted and gave us a chance to try the different sauces. This chick does not do well on spice so I couldn't tell you about the difference because they all looked super spicy they prolly weren't. I will defiantly be back!

We stopped in for coffee and a pastry. The owner Nona actually served us. She is a very pleasent and cheerful woman. The homemade pastries were good, nothing spectacular. I perused the lunch menu, average fare but did not see anything stand out. I did purchase a jar of homemade pumpkin butter. Excited to try it on some scones that I will make at home.
The sweetest coffee shop I've ever been to! The pastries and tea are delicious and the owner is the kindest and most welcoming man! He gave us several free samples and wanted to make sure that our breakfast was "just right!" He also gave us a warm welcome to Milwaukee and tips for the area. Will definitely come back!
Delicious home-made food at a restaurant in SM. The french toast, puff pastry breakfast, espresso is all the best breakfast I've had in SM hands down. This is more of what I'd expect to find on the east or west coast. Real honest to goodness food backed by fabulous hosts / owners.

Taco Bell

112 N Chicago Ave
South Milwaukee, 53172
Reviews:
Love this place. But i really wished they still served chilli cheese burritos. Then i would give 5 stars. Bring it back taco bell & steak nacho cheese chalupas.
This Taco Bell changed my life. It was approximately three in the morning and I was nearly comatose behind the wheel when I pulled up to this drive-thru and ordered a queso wango tex mex tango extreme supreme. It's an 8 inch burrito wrapped in 20 layers of beef, cheese and wang sauce. 20 minutes after eating it I began to feel incredibly explosive. It was then that on my way home while at a stoplight a teenage carjacker smashed my driver side window and pulled a gun on me and telling me to get out of my vehicle. It was also that moment that my hindquarters began to feel urgently volcanic. I quickly threw my car in park, whipped down my Zubaz, directing my backside towards my attacker as the Mount Saint Helens of all bowel movements began erupting all over this street hoodlums face, immediately melting it like that one scene at the end of Raiders of the lost ark. I love this location!
Ah Taco Bell, Is it just another Taco Bell?? Not really. Will they satisfy that post beer run hunger? yes. Or a bad case of the munchies? yes. Do they have exactly the same McMexican food as every other Taco Bell in the civilized world? yes. Then what makes this location special you ask? Well, apparently their corporate employee development program is working and the employees are taking their training to heart. They really come across as nice, they really do. What's more bizarro is that they actually portray themselves as caring employees; like they actually want to do a good job!! Amazing. This is the location closest to my work, so we hit it occasionally for lunch. Each and every time, I am greeted very politely and served very quickly. What more could you ask for from your friendly neighborhood Taco Bell?? The Taco Bell closest to my house is on 50th & North and let me tell you, those people could take a few lessons from this South Milwaukee location. Other pleasant things about this location: Huge parking lot, huge interior, and general overall cleanliness. Yes, it's Taco Bell, but if you must, which you know you do, this is a good one to go to.

Derango’s Pizza

1215 N Chicago Ave
South Milwaukee, 53172
Reviews:
PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW! I see that there have been a number of negative reviews posted here for DeRango's. Some have said the service was rude; others didn't like one thing or another. I can tell you this: I have no "ax to grind" - I'm going to tell you what I think and that's all. I'm still relatively new to the area (just 18 months now), and there a quite a few local restaurants I haven't had the chance to patronize. But knowing that DeRango's has long served this community, I wanted to finally try their pizza this evening. And yes, as I said, I know there have been some negative reviews...but what do you REALLY know until you try something for yourself? My experience was truly great, which I'll explain in a moment. First let me say that I believe some measure of people's disappointment can always be marked up to "managing expectations." If you expect a restaurant to be something in particular, but it's not, then it's not always a case of knowing what you like - it may be a case of liking what you know. DeRango's is a carry out pizza stand (with many other food options in addition). It doesn't TRY to be anything more. If you expect it to be something more, then of course, you will be disappointed. But it won't be because THEY let you down - it will be because YOUR EXPECTATIONS were not met. That said, let me tell you about my experience this evening. At 5:15, I ordered a 14" pizza and an order of onion rings for carry out. I was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I could tell there were many calls coming in, because I had to be placed on hold before I could place my order. I say this so you will know that I ordered during the peak dinner hour on a Friday night and not at 3:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. I arrived at DeRango's at 5:30 and waited only 5 minutes for my order (my food was ready 20 minutes after I had placed the order). In my book, that's called, "under-promising and over-delivering." Some have faulted the quality of service. I can only say that the service I received was perfectly fine. There was a young woman - probably a part-time employee who is still a student in High School - working the counter, the register and the telephone and also communicating with the cooks and bringing orders to the front. She was moving FAST. The whole while, waiting on me and several other customers, while also taking phone calls and conducting the other activities I have mentioned, she was pleasant, cheerful and polite. I would call her a model employee. And since she probably works for minimum wage, I would say the business has found a real asset in her. Now to the food. The smell in the car was so good, I couldn't keep myself from dipping into the onion rings on the way home. They were hot, crispy and very tasty. They also came with a (warm!) cup of marinara dipping sauce, which to me was a nice bonus. When I reached home, I opened the pizza. As you'll see from the photo, I had jostled it a bit getting it in and out of the car, but that's on me, not them. I was surprised at how appetizing it looked - lots of cheese, flakes of Italian seasoning and cooked to perfection. But the best part came when I began to eat the pizza. Now I grant that one's enjoyment of pizza is very much determined by his or her preferences. I like a thin and crispy crust. Not everyone agrees - and DeRango's offers FOUR different options on thickness, including hand-tossed, pan and even stuffed pizza for those of you who prefer it thick and chewy. Often, when I order thin crust pizza, there is no crispiness, or "crunch," if you will, when I bite into the crust. I was delighted that DeRango's crust was CRISPY! (By the way, I consider this the true "Milwaukee Style" pizza). The toppings were generous and the sauce had a unique "zinginess" that I really enjoyed. You can see from the picture that there is a great deal of cheese; and I'll admit to you that I ordered extra cheese, because I like it that way. BUT - the extra portion of cheese only cost me a buck and a quarter, and I find it to have been well worth it. By the way, this 14" pizza would EASILY feed three adults. Some have called it "pricey" or "expensive." I suppose so, if you're comparing it to the "Pizza! Pizza!" place, but I wouldn't bother buying pizza there. This pizza cost me less that 15 bucks and it's the best I've had in the area - yes, even better than another nearby restaurant that I've given a rave review. To be clear - I don't know the DeRango family and I have nothing vested in giving them a good review. But I do want those of you who actually read these reviews to know that MY experience was great and I WILL be purchasing pizza there again. 'Nuff said? Okay.
Went here hoping it would be like the pizza I used to get when I lived in Racine... It wasn't as good and the customer service was terrible. I placed an order for pick up and arrived when it was supposed to be ready. I stood for 5+ minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me. This was AFTER ringing the bell. From there I was told it would be about a 10min wait. A total of 20 minutes after arriving, I finally got my pasta and pizza. The pizza was piping hot, but disappointing in taste. The pasta was cold and had no flavor. It ended up in the garbage. I expected more from the Derango's name and I was left utterly disappointed.
You have to try their food and be the judge . Don't get fooled by waiting for 5 min for someone to answer. OMG 5 min NOOOO . It's worth the wait. I love a place that is busy. The pizza is great, great sauce and yes there is no tables in the restaurant you just pick up the food and have it delivered to you . Really awesome experience thus far . Will write again if anything changes
