Fine, it's a chain. And to me, a Culver's is a Culver's. BUT this location does some things pretty darn well that I think are worth a review: -This location is always clean. Super well-kept, and there are usually staff members making regular rounds to sweep up any spills and tidy up the tables. -The staff at this location are especially courteous, even to the point of occasionally checking in with guests at tables. Unnecessary but a nice touch. -Custard is good (obviously). -The chicken strips are my guilty pleasure. Not greasy in the least and perfectly crispy. Nom.
They run this location like a well oiled machine. This is one of the better locations in the metro area. My order was taken and 5 minutes later, I had my food. I am not proud that I am addicted to the fries and concrete mixers, but hey, I am not perfect. If I can't make it to Kopp's, this is always my second choice. Cheers to winter weight gain!
Culver's is one of the best fast food options, in my opinion. I don't eat here often, but every once in awhile, I crave a simple fast food lunch or I'm in a hurry and need a quick dinner option. In the past, I have stuck to the cheeseburgers, but yesterday I went for the buffalo chicken strips. The strips were good white meat and pretty large. The breading was not too thick and nicely crispy. I'ld like the buffalo sauce spicier, but this is not surprising for fast food. I ordered the blue cheese sauce and it was actually good quality with large chunks of blue cheese. The fries are crinkle cut and crispy. All in all, pretty good.

Three Lions Pub

Reviews:
The Three Lions Pub was our last St Paddy's Day weekend stop. We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Caveat: I hadn't slept the night before, not for reasons you might think, our one year old was up all night. So, while others in our group ordered St Paddy's Day beverages, I ordered coffee. It took them 30 minutes to bring me coffee. I was brought a 3/4 full coffee. I never got a refill of coffee. I was informed they didn't have enough pots to brew enough for the crowd that was there for the Liverpool game. I am a Mom of two...and I didn't get coffee. I reserve the right to update my review if I go back under different circumstances. The atmosphere was good. The service was great - excellent in fact - our server did update me on the status of the coffee often. The crowd was fun. The food was good. My daughter's pancakes were burnt, but again, there was a huge crowd that morning, I'm guessing (by the reviews) the food is better on other days.
Love this pub. A little slice of England in Milwaukee. I enjoy the beer selection, the English cuisine is delicious and the environment is very similar to that of a English pub in the UK. The bartenders and waitstaff are awesome and I recommend it for anyone looking for a place to watch a football match or just wanting to hangout with friends and enjoy a pint. The only negative I have is the American food they attempt.. Not the greatest. Steer clear of the spinach artichoke dip. Haha. But don't let that stop you from heading down to Three Lions Pub.. Pretty awesome place.
What? The hummus disappeared from the menu?! Still, a nice place for a beer and relaxing with friends.

Nino’s Southern Sides

Reviews:
The fried chicken was really good. Also had the Mac and cheese on the side as well as coleslaw. Okay, fine I had the pecan cake too. I couldn't help it, it looked sooo good and it tasted even better. The fried chicken meal comes with 3 pieces, breast, leg, and thigh. The chicken is made to order to either call ahead or be prepared to wait some time. It's totally worth it though.
The food here is fantastic and quite authentic. I'm from Louisiana, and I was not disappointed. I got the three piece fried chicken lunch with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy as my sides. My friend got the collard greens, which were also delightful. Definitely large portions so plan accordingly. They do takeout so call ahead, and they'll cook everything fresh. You can also fine in. The dining area is small but very clean and modern. My only complaints were the sweet tea and the cell phone reception. The sweet tea was disgusting and did not take like southern sweet tea, plus you don't get free refills. Also, I had no cell phone service (AT&T carrier) when inside so that bugged me.
I had never heard of Nino's until I read the review in Milwaukee Journal...so of course any opportunity that I have to eat some Soul Food and not have to cook...I am on it! When I arrived I wasn't expecting a place to sit because the restaurant specializes in takeout...fortunately they do have a couple of tables and counter seating..,unfortunately I chose to visit on the day after the review came out so the place was jam packed but I was in a holding pattern and was able to snag a table soon after I placed my order. I don't eat pork and they have a lot of vegetable items cooked with pork (hammocks) maybe as they expand they will either substitute using smoked turkey or just serve vegetables without pork(maybe even cook the pork separately and add to those order that want it..,) ,however they do have a few sides without pork..,cornbread dressing, fried corn, Mac n Cheese and candid yams..,but I would have loved to try some collard greens, black eye peas, speckled butter beans or pinto beans with a piece of cornbread... Well I ordered the fried chicken dinner(other options were smothered chicken, catfish and fried/smothered pork chops, bbq'd pig feet and chitterlings(dinner comes with two sides of your choice) My fried chicken dinner ($11.99)came with three pieces of meat(a breast, leg and wing) for my sides I ordered cornbread dressing and Mac and cheese. I also purchased an extra side ($2.99) of candid yams... My order took about thirty minutes but I don't waiting for cooked to order chicken which was well seasoned, hot and crispy. The Mac and cheese was as good as mine which means it was delicious!!! The candid yams were just okay and the cornbread dressing was flavorful and had a nice consistency...it didn't taste like stove top stuffing pretending it was dressing, it wasn't too loose or too gummy...just good! I was by myself so I killed time while waiting for order watching streaming video on my phone although the restaurant does have a huge flatscreen tv but eating soul food and drinking grape soda (Sprechers) made me think a little of my childhood in Texas without spending hours cooking and cleaning after... I had enough food leftover for either a round two tonight or maybe lunch tomorrow. Even though I was full a grabbed one of the last remaining pieces of peach cobbler but they do have a nice variety of desserts(chocolate and vanilla cake and sweet potato pie) Despite being very busy all the customers waited patiently and the staff have great service. I will be back!!

The best thing I can say about this place is it appeared to be clean. The service was awful. The food was greasy. We ordered typical breakfast fare which admittedly isn't fat free but I felt like I wanted to ask for some extra napkins to blot up the grease. When we needed a drink refill there was no one around for a long period of time. We finally flagged down the greeter who was fussing over a display near the front. Only then did our waitress show up. She admitted that she saw the greeter guy come over to the table so she came out to see what we needed. My guess is the servers are behind a glass window that we cant see thru.
Had the Poblano Chowder, clam chowder and the chicken Caesar salad my wife had the honey mustard turkey on oat bran. All was phenomenal. You have to come here if you haven't since a kid! The pies are still good too;)
This food is awful. I will never waste any money there again. The ultimate breakfast was a plate of tasteless garbage. How hard it's out to make real bacon and eggs. The pie didn't redeem it either. Very disappointed.

No 1 Chinese Restaurant

4501 N Oakland Ave
Shorewood, 53211
Reviews:
I always grab No. 1 Chinese after my haircuts next door, and despite the negative reviews, I've always found it to be consistent and pretty good! The pricing is definitely fair, and we can get dinner for 2 for a super reasonable price. I usually get sesame chicken or something similar, and I have never had any issues. Timely, good food, as long as you remember that it's still takeout Chinese, and friendly staff. I have no problem returning here again and again, and I've definitely had WAY worse! I'd recommend No. 1 Chinese for sure!
I live within walking distance from this restaurant and wish the food and service were better because I love good Chinese food. Wish I didn't have to drive 4 miles for It. I occasionally give No. 1 a chance due to convenience but I have learned my lesson. My last order for beef and broccoli, sesame chicken and 2 egg rolls was delivered to me 25 minutes after promised. I opened the bag and it was someone else's order. I called back and was told rudely by them that I received what I ordered. After 12 minutes of arguing I conveniences them I had the wrong order and was redelivered my correct food. Chicken was very chewy and old. Maybe 1 and a half ounces of beef in the beef dish. Vegetables we're all soggy. Egg rolls were very greasy, small and bland. Served with flavorless duck sauce, not the sweet and sour that I requested. Even the rice was over cooked and tasted old. I've learned my lesson and will never return.
I've not had great Chinese food since I moved to Milwaukee 3 years ago. The food here is pretty good imo. The atmosphere not so great...this is a call ahead and pick up or delivery kind of place for sure.
