Reedsburg PL... In recent times, McDonald's has been undergoing something of a renaissance into trying to become some odd upscale Starbucks-a-like, and in doing so, as a parent, I've been disappointed to see a number of nice playlands disappear. McDonald's seems to have forgotten that they have the playland market cornered... so anyways, I've decided to review some and share some hints for other parents. You ever have your kids wake up in the Dells, all excited and ready to go... and it's not even 6AM? No chance of getting them back to sleep! Well, that happens to us sometimes, and it's inconvenient since most things in the Dells don't open until a bit later. So after burning a little time with baths and getting dressed and bouncing off the walls, I loaded them in the car, and we went in search of a playland. I knew that there was one in Baraboo, but we've been there before. SO we went west, and discovered this location. It's almost straight out of a time machine... it's the way I remember McDonald's from 20 years ago. It's got a modest but nice playland area inside a giant addition on the front of the building. The playland was clean and well maintained; someone had actually painted the ductwork colors to make it look like it was a bit larger than it actually was. It had an aura that welcomed kids, something that I find missing at certain McDonalds locations. The food was not messed up, the staff was friendly. McDonald's should pay attention and know that this is why I'm willing to load the kids into the car, drive some miles, and spend money on breakfast in their restaurants... sometimes you just need a place to let the kids burn off some energy before they get to go somewhere to burn off more energy.

Jimmy's To-Go serves up the best Chicago Style Vienna hot dogs in town! They also have super yummy Italian Beef sandwiches made with their secret recipe. The burgers are the best in town... a single burger is huge! The thick cut bacon is awesome. They also have walking tacos, nachos, BLT wraps, chicken pattys, chili dogs, brats and so much other stuff. The best part is that their prices are SOOOO cheap. Check them out, they're on facebook too! Centrally located in downtown Reedsburg, plenty of parking. Amazing!

Food was excellent! Stopped in to eat as we were passing through Reedsburg. Clean bathroom and restaurant. Friendly staff. Definitely a new favorite place we will stop at again!
Always have had great food here and staff is friendly. Sandwiches hot and cold are delicious. I'm a sucker for their baked goods--scones!! Everything from their smoothies to their coffee is amazing. Great little cozy place in Reedsburg.
Great coffee and food. The pork carnita is a favorite. The wraps are great also. Good place to get catering for small get togethers. Perfect place to get your morning coffee and a snack.

Decided to stay local for my parents anniversary so we decided to try Calabria Pizza & Pasta... our waitress was friendly...however they nickel and dime you, even charging a dollar for butter, also heard some inappropriate comments by some of the other staff members and wanted to bring it to the owners attention; when asked to speak to the owner Sam, his staff informed me that he was too busy in the kitchen and would not come out to discuss ...WILL NEVER BE BACK...Please try other restaurants in the downtown Reedsburg!
Nice local Italian restaurant. The ambiance was really cute and the food was good. My wife really enjoyed her tiramisu. Portions were generous. We will go again.
Fabulous! My family stopped here with huge appetites after spending 10 hours on the road, and boy are we glad we did. Entrees come with a table salad and garlic knots that put Olive Garden breadsticks to shame. I got spaghetti in a pesto sauce that was light and fresh--not heavy and rich like some, and my mom had baked lasagna with a generous, meaty bolognese. Aside from my 19-year-old brother, who downed an entire 16-inch pizza by himself, everyone else got 2-3 more meals from their one order. My family makes regular trips to Reedsburg, and we'll definitely be back.

Average food, nice ambience, very friendly staff and excellent service! Drink and food prices are outrageously high! Portions on the small side. I will not be returning to this establishment.
First visit to J's and it was great. We went there for lunch. The waitress was very helpful and answered questions regarding their Gluten Free options. The food was great and reasonably priced. I would definitely go their again

The Steak & Taters special on Monday nights is probably the best deal in Reedsburg! Where else can you get a delicious steak dinner for only $10?! Comes with a side salad, too. They generally have a nice and rotating microbrew selection, too. Mike always plays an eclectic mix of music. (so sick of hearing awful top-40 pop-country music in local bars). Their lunch specials during the week are good, too. Don't miss out on some great meals and deals just because it is a tavern. You can bring the whole family here.

I just had a delicious cheeseburger and the cheese curds were very good too. I had the milk stout and wasn't disappointed there either. Yum!
We were in town for the annual Fermentation Fest (great event) and had lunch at the Corner Pub. The place was packed. Yet the server was friendly and happy to take the time to tell us about the place. It's the oldest operating tavern in Sauk County and owner Pete Peterson brews his batches two barrels at a time right there in the basement. Our lunch and choice of beer were delicious. That evening we attended the Fermentation Fest Food/Drink D'Tour, which featured area food artisans. Corner Pub was there showcasing their varieties of beer. We sampled them all, and they all were great. Rich, not overly hopped, and full of good flavor. My favorites: Oktoberfest, Cream Ale and the Weiss. My husband's: Oktoberfest and Bourbon Scotch Ale. We'll be back!
This place won't even let you have a small sample of beer before buying. But you can buy a smaller glass for $2.25. No beer menu and the bartender couldn't give any decent description of the beers. We got one pint that was pretty good and one that wasnt so good. Definitely luck of the draw at this place. Not very customer friendly!

This place has awesome breakfast. This is the second time I have been here and both times the food was extraordinary. They don't answer the phone if you want to call ahead for takeout so just stop by. The omelettes are great and the service is excellent
Don't waste your time on this place....stopped in with my mother around 6pm for dinner. I ordered the steak and shrimp special and my mother ordered a club sandwich. We had only had our salads about 5 minutes when the entrees came out (I thought this was a little too quick for made to order food...). They screwed up and brought the wrong sandwich out to my mother and forgot the fries and my food was at the most, lukewarm. I figure they probably sent a plate of food that someone else didn't want, out to our table. The only thing warm on my entrée was the melted butter on top of cold mashed potatoes. Then my mother decided to order a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie ($4.00 a slice). She took one bite and remarked that the pie didn't taste right. I tried a bite- she was right- there was absolutely no sugar added to the pie or the crust. It was like eating a piece of rhubarb right from the garden. The crust also had no flavor and I could see sitting across from my mother, it didn't have the right consistency to it. We complained to the waitress about things, but were never offered a remedy such as a replacement piece of pie or a discount for the inconvenience. At one point, when our bill was being put together, I could see her looking our way and whispering something to the head cashier. I have had problems with receiving cold food and the wrong order here before- so the problem appears to be continuing to originate within the kitchen and the management. We weren't looking for any freebie dinners, just a decent sit-down meal that was hot, correctly put together, and edible. Instead we got a screwed up order,a meal that was cold, and an expensive piece of pie with missing ingredients. They really blew it this time- I won't be back and I will be informing my family and friends to spend their money elsewhere as well. Unless they improve their food and service, maybe this place should go out of business as well-
This review is for the pizza, which is really good. The crust, sauce, ingredients are all fresh and apparently homemade. It's nice to have an alternative to the chain pizza places. The restaurant itself is newly opened in a space that has housed several different restaurants over the years. I can't comment on how good the non pizza items are, but the menu is extensive, with a concentration on Italian food. Last time I was in picking up a pizza, they mentioned they will begin delivery in Jan 2013.

There food is a joke They take no pride in there food! Its gross!!
The food is delicious, reasonably priced and the wait staff is efficient, helpful and friendly. Oh, the Margaritas are awesome! Cant wait to go back!
While staying in the Dells with the family a few weeks back, my wife and I were craving Mexican. Now while our hotel rocked, the dining scene in the Dells left a lot to be desired. EVERY PLACE looked like a tacky, tourist trap type establishment (probably because they are)! So I jumped on Google and did a search and found this place. After driving about 15 minutes out of town I knew we hit the jackpot when we pulled up and my wife said "We are going here? I don't know about this..." A shack-like building with typical Mexican themed decor, I knew I hit the jackpot. Once inside my wife was relieved to see people actually eating here. The host and staff could not have been friendlier. The food? It rocked! Great chips and salsa, awesome carnita tacos and steak burritos. My boys loved it too and I swear they must have Mexican blood in them as you should see how they tear apart a taco plate with rice and beans (not to mention the amount of chips and salsa they consume). Dirt cheap too. Totally worth the drive out of town for some great Mexican food!

Decent food, indifferent waitress, noisy TV in the bar section is too loud in the dining room.
Rude ass waitress and owner! sloppy greasy food!! Disgusting couldn't even find the biscuit was so drenched in gravy I talked to the waitress all she wanted to do was argue and the owner came out with guns blazing and rude and yelling
We stopped here to eat after traveling all day and noticing a steak pictured on their sign. We thought if they pictured a great steak they must serve great meat. Nope. Worst meal I have ever had. I ordered prime rib which came with baked potato and salad bar. Salad bar was okay at best. The blue cheese crumbles were not good, fellow blue cheese lovers know what I mean. They were the really tawdry, not really blue cheese flavor, wish I hadn't put them on my salad kind. Then came the monstrosity prime rib. My prime rib was completely grey and really hard to cut through. Also, the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked (medium rare) and it was well done/overcooked and dry throughout. I tasted one bite, which I then spit out into my napkin. The meat was SO OLD and DISGUSTING! I decided to just eat the baked potato, which was also not very good, but edible. I am quite shy and did not want to complain, but also could not eat my food. When we were done, the waitress asked if I wanted a box and I confessed that the prime rib was not good. She very rudely informed me that I should have spoken up at the beginning of the meal, but now it was "too late" . She was so rude and tactless I honestly thought I was on a hidden camera show. Needless to say, not only is the food disgusting, the staff is as well. Stay away at all costs, ANYWHERE else is a better place. Did I forget to mention that I sat with an empty water glass half of the meal and that all of the lamps coming out of the wall had cobwebs all over them. We were also the only table on a Saturday night, which says a lot. We didn't take notice of this when we walked in, but I wish we had. Seriously, just go eat at the Voyager down the street, or McDonald's, or go hungry, because this place is terrible.
