    We live within a short distance and on date night often choose ... MHOP. This place combines the tradition and intimacy of the finest Wisconsin supper club with absolutely the finest prime rib you will experience ... and darned good fish fry on Friday. If you are recreating in the Pewaukee Lake area, this is a no brainer. But anyone in a 50 mile radius who appreciates fine beef products really ought to check out MHOP. The late Dennis Getto -- food critic for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel -- raved abou this place. Find out why. Nice bar area. Valet parking. Ample and original complimentary appetizers ... although the breaded deep fried green peppers are killer too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    Although the decor is a bit outdated and the bar is somewhat towny, this restaurant still deserves 5 stars. The staff is friendly and the food is outstanding. I've always ordered steak, and every time it's been cooked perfectly. Others in my party ordered the prime rib and really liked it. The sauces are not overbearing. It's on the more expensive side so I really only go there for a special occasion.

    From what I can tell Michael's House of Prime is a neighborhood gem. Their prime rib from what I hear is to die for. And I understand that I went on a bad night, but that doesn't deter the fact that I had a somewhat of an unfortunate evening with them. We made a reservation at 8pm but when we got there at about 5 minutes before, they told us it would be a bit of a wait. We went to the bar ordered our drinks and about 45 minutes later, we were still waiting, each on our second drink (which were fabu). About 15 minutes after that, we were told that they ran out of prime rib, at which point we considered other restaurants but found out that they had also run out of prime rib and so we opted to stay rather than move and delay our meal another 30 minutes. So about 70-80 minutes after we arrived we were finally seated. The server had had a long night and I understand things are not her fault but she, while not a total b, could have helped us make our night a little better had she been a little more willing to accommodate for us. It's all in the demeanor, you know? Whatever. Anyways, after us asking for it we were able to get another free round of drinks. We ordered our food, all of this just took way too long. Partially because we were tucked way in the corner. All this to say, a lot of unimportant, hopefully unprecedented, unfortunate and not worth mentioning things happened. But there were two gems. 1. St Germain Elderflower Cocktail. I had never had it, but it sounded good so I tried it and it was fantastic! It is now my drink of choice. It came in a little carafe with lines and indentations that indicated how much to pour. I totally went online and ordered the carafe. 2. French Onion Soup. So good! The broth was good too but the cheese that sprinkled and baked and the bread in it. MmmHMMM! So good. In fact good enough to go back for. However, since I don't live in Wisconsin, if I am back to the area, I will save my time and money and go elsewhere. Once again, probably not a bad restaurant. Just I've had way better, and expected way more than what was delivered. Oh, and to note is that parking is diagonally across the street in front of like a sushi restaurant or something.

    Have been to Michaels several times. You will never leave here hungry. The steaks are great as is the french onion soup. salads come with all these great little fixings. Dessert is top notch as well.

    We've been coming to MIchael's for 12 years now. Since Judy (the old owner) passed away, a lot of things have changed, and not so much for the better. The prime rib, while still a great value for the price, has NO seasoning, no au jus, just a HUGE piece of unseasoned meat. I've always ordered the SFRF lobster tail, but now it seems flavorless. Perhaps a difference between farm raised and wild caught? Not sure. No longer the same home made bread, just a pre-prepared frozen loaf. I always get the Cook's brut asti split, they are always out of it, so take it OFF the menu already. Soups used to OUTSTANDING...now they vary from mediocre to lousy. Beef burgundy soup?? Really?? It was like choking down a bowl of leftover gravy. We still go on occasion, but never without wondering what kind of meal we'll be getting.

    I was offered a free dinner by my employer and I had been here a few years ago and loved it so I decided to return. We arrived at 5pm and were seated right away. Our server explained the specials and was generally attentive throughout our meal. We began our meal with warm rye bread and some clam chowder. The soup was fantastic. Soon some crackers and packaged bread sticks followed. Along with the bread sticks a tray with cheese, bacon bits and croûtons arrived. This was meant to accompany our salads. My wife ordered ranch dressing and crumbled blue cheese. When the salads came the blue cheese was absent....though when the bill came we were charged. The waitress did remove the charge when we pointed out the mistake. When the salads were finished the tray of cheese and bacon was removed from the table....this fact is important. I ordered a baked potato along with a house cut prime rib (medium). The potato came with sour cream; that's it, sour cream. They had on the table a tray with bacon bits and shredded cheese and removed it...This should have been left for use on the baked potato or the potato should have come with these accompaniments. My prime rib (for which the restaurant is famous for) tasted like a pot roast and nothing like I remember from my last visit. The meat was wholly flavorless and for $35 I can't tell you how disappointed I was. The waitress checked in and I told her the meal was just OK and she was very concerned and offered to get me a new cut of meat. I declined her offer. I can't just waste food for the sake of rolling the dice on getting a better piece of meat; that just seems so wasteful. So I ate maybe a quarter of the steak then had had enough. My wife ordered a rib -eye steak medium rare. It was dry and tough. We paid $77 for the meal and aside from good attentive service and great clam chowder, I could not have been more disappointed. I'm just glad my company paid for the meal and not me. I don't think I will be returning.

    Love the atmosphere and staff! Very East Coast themed! Excellent food my personal favorite is the prime rib! Melt in your mouth delicious!

    Favorite restaurant of all time! I guess I'm just a huge steak fan, but no one does it quite like these guys! Try the blonde cut!

    I agree with the woman who says things have changed a lot since the previous owner passed away. My husband and I went there for our 20th Anniversary and I will never go back. Prime just not what it used to be and the Shrimp Scampi was so over cooked my husband could not chew it. In the day it was the place to go for "Special Occasions"but nothing special anymore. No home baked bread, salad dressing tasted like bottled dressing and it was supposed to be "House". To top it all off young very loud little children running around in the bar and seating area. I think they were the bartenders kids or someone who was working there cause these kids went into the kitchen also. Not what you want to hear when you are out for a quiet dinner. Will not go back. The Au Jus tasted like watered down worcestershire sauce. Sad the tradition of good quality and service takes a back seat to making a buck these days.

    Amazing food and service ! I have driven by this place at least a hundred times, but had the chance to enjoy the food their back in January for the first time. Went out with another couple on a Saturday night and had a short wait for the table. Enjoyed our drinks in the quaint bar area before being seated. This place has an old-school supper club feel to it, and the dining area is not that large. I ordered the smallest size prime rib, and when it came to the table I stopped the waitress and said their must have been some mistake because they must have given me a larger cut - she said this was their smallest cut! I was shocked, there is no way I could have eaten the Duke cut. The prime rib was absolutely delicious! Two others in our group ordered the filet and said it was perfect! I don't remember what the fourth person had - I was in a semi meat coma - but we all loved the place and cannot wait to come back. Thank you!

    Best prime rib around! All cuts include a bone which really adds to the flavor. Start with some fried green pepper rings...really good. If you happen to like liver they do that well too.

    I had heard about this place from friends, so my husband and I finally decided to give it a go, and Wow! We were not disappointed! The place is on the smaller side, but it's like a good old fashioned supper club. There's a nice bar where we had some tasty drinks, mixed just right, and then we went to our table. We first ordered an appetizer of the deep fried green peppers, which had a light and crispy breading. Then we had a course of soup. I ordered the clam chowder which was very good, it didn't taste like a creamy mess, it had a nice base with big pieces of clam in it, and we were given a loaf of warm bread with a Swiss cheese spread, or a ham spread to enjoy on top of it. Next came a crunchy cool salad with lovely fresh veggies, then on to the entree. Since this place is known for the Prime Rib, we had to try it. I ordered mine medium rare, and it was prepared perfectly. The taste...mmmm...simply melted in your mouth! Huge portions, I warn you. I got what they call the "Blondie" cut, and I had my fill and just about another dinners worth the next day. Glad I didn't order the "Duke" cut, that one's supposed to be 48oz's people! I will have to go back to try some of their other fare, but if you're looking for a great prime rib dinner in a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to be!
