Excellent BBQ, but pretty disorganized! I had never heard of Dickey's before they opened in Pewaukee. I'm a big fan of BBQ so we decided to try it for dinner. Walking in the atmosphere was nice maybe a bit too bright for the evening, but nice. The smell of the BBQ was excellent. It made me hungry. The line that you are suppose to stand in is kind of confusing because of where the door is. You walk in the door and wind up in the middle of the line, and it isn't very clear that there is a line. We waited in line maybe 15-20 minutes to order. You order where they slice the meat, and the process was disorganized. The employees were all bouncing around doing different jobs. At most quick service type places people do one job, here everyone was doing a little bit of everything, and they seemed confused. The whole process was very slow. They had to keep running to the back to get more meat. I think there were only two or three groups of people in front of us. Not many for a 15-20 minute wait. The food itself was good. I had the two meat plate. The brisket was good. It had a nice smokey flavor. I also had the ham which was amazing! It had amazing sweet and smoky flavor. YUM! The sides were ok. I had jalapeno BBQ beans. They were good, and were spicy. I also had the baked potato casserole which to me was just mashed potatoes. It was ok, I just wasn't expecting mashed potatoes. I will probably go back, for the ham if nothing else, but I really hope they can get their ordering and serving process more organized.

Not good - everything was cold! Meat and sides - beans, mac and cheese and potatoes - were really bad boxy and cold. Reheated food needs to be heated and temped before serving. Some sodas and ice cream were also not restocked. No thanks.

You don't get your money's worth here. If anyone knows good bbq, they'll know this is definitely not it! Won't ever go back!

Good bbq food and decent service. Daily special is the best bet. Otherwise the usual menu is over the price. Love the butterscotch root beer.

Honestly, this is the worst BBQ I've ever had! The only redeeming attribute was the free soft serve ice cream. Meat was incredibly bland, bread tasted undercooked, sides seemed like they were out of a can. Atmosphere was strange also. Given the choice, I won't go back.

I had never been here before but had heard good things. I wasn't sure what to order so I asked the staff for a recommendation. .. the brisket plate with macaroni and cheese and potato casserole. The brisket was melt in your mouth perfect. They have 3 types of bbq sauce but you really don't need it. The mac n cheese is very creamy and the noodles were perfectly done. The potato casserole has an overpowering green onion flavor which I really didn't care for. .. but some people may like that. Overall this was really good. I came for lunch on a rainy day and expected it to be a long wait. .. but it wasn't. I was in and out very quickly. The staff was very patient and helpful. Honestly Some of the friendliest in the business. There is also free ice cream for dessert but i didn't have room. I'll be back.

The pulled pork sandwich was very good. Side dishes were good, wife said beans were a bit spicy for her taste. The bathroom had no towels.

The food here is average. What will prevent me from ever returning is the horrible attitude of the employees. I've been to this location 4 times. The barbecue is ok, the sides are below average - we've tried the beans, fries, Mac & cheese - and the place itself looks run down, but not in a BBQ joint kind of way. It looks neglected, which judging by the attitude of the employees, is no surprise. Our latest (and last) visit featured stale hamburger buns in place of rolls, mostly fatty cuts of brisket and a centipede that fell out of the air conditioning duct. Lastly, the TV was on so loud we couldn't hear ourselves complain.

Ordered the Family Pack to go. I have never been there before. Service was very disorganized and confusing. My food had to have been sitting in the warmer for a long time because it wasn't even warm. My salad was packed between all my "hot" food and the meat was very very dry (probably from sitting in the warmer for so long!) Their excuse was that they had too many trainees. For the price we paid we could have gone to a nice restaurant to sit down and eat and tip a waiter/tress. We will not return there for service.

Ate at Dickey's for the first time today. opted to purchase bbq by the pound and take it home where I could have a drink. I can agree with others very disorganized staff. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. Really? Its a basic service line and I assume you work here several times a week. After unpacking I saw that they included a container of pickles and one of onions, and A giant container of sauce I thought this was nice but I found another reason, explained later. Todays order: 1lb Brisket, Man I love brisket done correctly, brisket is the perfect meal. This was far from correctly. The meat was shredded rather than sliced. good brisket is usually sliced but no big deal. The big deal was it was almost totally void of flavor, and drier than crap. (aahh the huge bbq sauce and moist pickles helps get it down) 1lb pulled pork, I also love pulled pork and have smoked a few shoulders in my time. 1st its not pulled. How do I know? I watched the guy behind the line take a chunk and smash it into the counter to "shred" it. Don't get me wrong I don't care what his method was however maybe you should do it before hand and serve it at the line. or look like a pro and shred it for your guests. we like a show. The bigger problem was same as the brisket, no flavor and extremely DRY. and finally.... a rack of ribs. St. Louis style. The ribs had a little flavor and where tender just short of fall off the bone. How they got them so tender yet dry I don't know. they too where a little dry but not as bad as the others. The only side we got was the mac & cheese. nothing special elbow Mac and what tasted like inexpensive canned cheese sauce. If you like everything soaked is sauce this could be the place for you. Tip eat the meat with the pickles. they are moist and help the dry meat slide down.

Sundays are ok for free kids meals. Came in on a Wednesday night got a meal and got overcharged. Called back, they said they would send me a gift card and over a month later, nothing.

I noticed on the white board (for employees, but you can see it), it said Portioning! And they were weighing the meats. Good to see. On another note, the other thing it said was, "Don't cut anymore onions, use the ones in the bucket, they will be bad soon" - appetizing.

Disorganized! Forgotten orders, cold food, having to ask for what is already supposed to be prepared with your meal. The workers were all over the place. I was asked my order by the sandwich prep himself. When it was time to pay, my order wasn't ready. The cashier had to tell him to make the sandwich. Behold the sandwich is prepared, but WITHOUT the onions and pickles it comes with. I had to ask for those. Ohhh and I had to wait about 5 minutes for mac & cheese, which came out cold. This is the worst Dickies BBQ ever and it makes the entire chain look bad.

We carried out a family meal of ribs, chicken and various sides. The ribs were dry and some were just gristle. The chicken wasn't to bad, it had good flavor and was pretty moist. The sides were just ok, nothing special or super exciting. To be honest, Famous Dave's is much better which is a disappointment as this is closer for us.

I'll agree with the others that a few tweaks and this place could be a whole lot better. The sides should be revamped, remind me a lot of KFC beans & MacNcheese. Start with quality control of the meat, BBQ should never be that dry, especially brisket. Whatever they hold their meat in is killing the product. As for the good, customer service was friendly and I loved that they had self serve BBQ sauce in a warmer. Self serve soft serve was a pretty cool sight. Nice patio in the back that no one used. It was only my first time and I'll probly eat here again if I'm over here and in the mood for BBQ, but I'll pick famous Dave's if I'm on the other side of the freeway. Give it a chance!

This is a nice change for me for lunch spots. Bbq is pretty good and I like that I can order take out online and they save my favorites for a quick reorder from my smart phone when I am on the way.

So this place is so close to 5 stars. I really, really like the taste of the food, but my food has been cold the two times I have been here. The first time I was there my guest got a bun that could be used as a baseball. It was busy so that was kind a weird. I do like the brisket, pork, and sausage. I have not tried the chicken. I would recommend getting the platter with two choices and making a butterscotch float with the dang! Butterscotch root beer and free ice cream, I think that's what keeps me coming back.

Not sure why this place gets the bad reviews. We have been here a number of times and the food and service have always been good. The pulled pork is really good (tender and not fatty) and the waffle fries are the best. Our son loves the soft serve ice cream that is free for everyone. Defiantly an above average barbecue place.

We have eaten at dickeys a few times and always enjoy the food and service. The waffle fries and pulled pork are my favorites. Another bonus is free soft serve ice cream after your meal - any place that offers me free ice cream must be awesome! For Super Bowl Sunday we used their catering services, the food was great, everyone at my party enjoyed the meat and sides. Sherri the owner delivered and set up our buffet and she was a joy to work with- prices were very reasonable . I will definitely be using their catering services (and eating at dickeys) again !

Great smoked flavors. We've tried all the meats, but the brisket is definitely or favorite - very tender and full of flavor. Definitely recommend for a fast family meal.

Keeping my expectations level set for a fast casual BBQ restaurant I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit to Dickeys. I ordered a two meat plate with pulled pork and cheddar sausage with Mac and cheese and potato casserole as my sides. It also came with a roll, onion slices and pickles. The person with me got the three meat plate with brisket, polish sausage and ham, with jalepeno beans and green beans as his side. They weigh your meat, and while some may take issue with that, it was plenty of food for me. I could see it not being enough for a big eater though. For example, having ribs as a part of your plate allows you only two ribs. You can order by the pound however if you'd prefer. The meats are unsauced and they have three hot sauces to serve yourself on the side - sweet, house and sweet & spicy. The cheddar sausage was really good, and the pulled pork was ok...It was cooked well but not super flavorful. The brisket was fall apart awesome and full of flavor, the ham was great and the polish was as expected. The bread was soft and buttery without being greasy and I can tell I am going to crave it. The Mac and cheese and green beans were my favorite sides, I'd pass on the potato casserole next time. I also thought the free soft serve was a nice touch. The cost was a little high but not too much more than I'd spend at any of the other fast casual places nearby. Ill be back again, I think it is a good addition to the neighborhood and adds a little variety.

So, I recently posted a review about the Dicky's on Miller Park Way stating it was just ok. My second trip to the Pewaukee location is pretty much the same. Came in at 1:15pm, a few people still eating lunch. No line at the counter (yay! ). The place looked nice & clean, a huge plus in my book. I ordered the 2 meat plate with pulled pork & spicy sausage (out of the sausage, so got brisket instead), mac 'n cheese & spicy beans. The pork is as dry here as it was at the Milwaukee location, again I rehydrated it with bbq side & it was ok. Brisket was dry, too. C'mon, guys! Loaded it with sauce, which I hated to do because I like brisket plain, but the sauce didn't penetrate the brisket as well as the pork, so :( Both meats weren't very hot, what's up with that? If the oven thing you store the meats in can't keep it hot, throw it in the microwave please, no one wants to eat luke warm meat. The beans were nice & spicy, a tad salty, but good overall. Mac 'n cheese was creamy & delicious. I'm giving points for the cleanliness, friendly staff & pretty decent sides, but subtracting points on the meat. If bbq is your only thing you need to produce a killer product & so far I'm far from impressed. The taste is great, but both locations the meat just wasn't very hot & both were dry. Maybe this is what they're going for? If so, it's not for me.

My guess is they are trying to compete with Famous Dave's. They are loading that battle. We came on a Saturday afternoon to use a groupon. The value was good for the amount of food but not the quality. After watching the young man who prepared my order unwrap the meats from plastic wrap and tasting the lukewarm plate I was able to confirm that we were being served the leftovers from Friday night. NOT what I expect from any resistant. The only reason for 2 stars is the free soft serve.

Decent BBQ for a chain restaurant. Sides are good. That's the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1. The service is AWFUL. We have gotten carry out here three times now. The first time we went to pick up was slow- we wound up waiting quite a bit for our order to be filled, even though we called ahead. It was shortly after they opened, so we figured they would just need some time to get organized. The second time we went back we ordered the 2 meat plate... with ribs. I get to the restaurant to pick up our food. Again I called in, but I had to wait because my order wasn't ready. Low & behold they are out of ribs. At a bbq place? REALLY?? I asked why and the person behind the counter told me that he sold them all to a customer who called in shortly after me. OK??? So they just replaced the ribs with a different meat. No apology or discount. So tonight I was really hungry for some bbq & looking for a quick meal. Order still was not ready when we got there. We tried for the ribs again. And they were out. Again. I must be a glutton for punishment because I probably should have learned my lesson the first time. We won't be going back. Or maybe I will just have to lower my expectations and not expect to order ribs. Service is mind numbingly slow... even for takeout. And the restaurant appears dirty. Whoever is in charge needs a wake up call.

STAY AWAY! I got food poisoning after eating at Dickey's. I got the pulled pork, onion tanglers, and coleslaw. That night I puked it right back up. I wasnt positive it was from Dickeys until my husband ate my leftovers the next day and sure enough was he was puking within 24hrs. Will not go back!

Three days later - still sick from the food - sores in my mouth from it. First - the silverskin was left on the ribs - not sure how they do it in Texas but here in Wisconsin we don't leave that on - it's inedible. Second - the ribs were overcooked and dry Third - the sweet sauce burned my mouth We spent $60 on a meal that ended up making me sick and my husband refused to eat because of how sick I got. This was the last time we will go there. Famous Dave's is better. I would like my money back. I called the store and they said that we needed to bring it back - we live over 30 miles away. The girl wasn't willing to help. We contacted the corporate office. ***another follow-up**** Received a call from Craig - he says they CAN'T refund our money - instead are offering a free meal. How can they expect us to eat food that makes people sick??? I've been sick now for almost 24 hours from their food. Health department is going to be called. Also working with credit card company to get a refund. This place and their customer service is horrible. Go somewhere else. They need to go back to Texas - not a good fit for Wisconsin.

My wife's company recently used them to cater an event at a West Allis bowling alley. I thought everything was tasty and the staff friendly. The barbeque ribs were smoked onsite for 14 hours. That's dedication!! ;-)

This was I think their first day open and for me it was a complete failure. I ordered a western with double brisket and waffle fries, my wife ordered the big barbeque with pulled pork, and got our kids a nuggets kids meal. This came up to $29 thus price isn't bad but the amount of food you get is. The size of my sandwich was not worth $10. The subway pulled pork is more for less. The quality of the meat was less than sub par. My brisket had no flavor on top of that it was cold and dry. My wife didn't even finish hers because of how nasty it was. They offer you heated sauces, original, sweet, and spicy. all three taste the exact same. So to sum up, long wait (due to first day open), cold, dry and unseasoned meat, also price does not match portion. I will not be returning!
