This is a small cafe with delicious food, great service, and reasonable prices. It's about 30 min from where I live, but well worth the drive. They also have a selection of homemade pies that are to die for. Go now!!
The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming. Going in solo can sometimes feel intimidating and awkward. Seating is perfect for people watching without feeling like a creep. And the owner is so authentic you just want to live next door. I ordered the Eggs Benedict special. It was layered with kale, perfectly poached egg, homemade hollandaise sauce and pepper bacon, a side of American fries and fresh berries (Best diet food ever ;) a cuppa joe, with tip, around $15. I can't wait to try their lunch.
This is a solid place to get breakfast if you're in the area, but not the best ever - for a few reasons. One: you need to be in the mood for a slightly dingy dining room experience. We wanted to sit outside as they have a cute patio that is shaded, but there were no seats when we arrived. Phooey. They've got headache-inducing fluorescent overhead lighting, an open kitchen right behind the counter and plenty of witty (some tired) signage - think "unattended children will receive an espresso and a puppy" type stuff. Two: the food is pretty delicious. My boyfriend had the crab cakes with poached eggs over arugula, a nice healthy option. I would have gone for it had I not just eaten crab cakes at brunch a week or so before. I got the Tex-Mex scramble, a jumble of eggs, potatoes, red peppers, tomatoes and a bit of cheese. It was great, but I asked the waitress for no corn bread on the side as I'm trying to avoid bread - I'll eat it if it's in front of me. She said yes and even offered me a replacement of fruit, but then the cornbread was on the side anyway. AND the little morsel I had was delicious. Le sigh. Food is good, service is good albeit a little slow on busy morning. I'd come back, I think.

I encourage you to arrive early to get the best outdoor seats available to enjoy the water's view. Their large parking lot may be empty, but don't be fooled. Many guests arrive by boat. I heard they've had a recent management/ownership and chef change. My steak and frites were fine. My wife's pork chop with mashed potatoes were fine. The French onion soup was very nice. The side salads were fresh, but dressed with a very bland dressing. It's really about the view. It's very civilized compared to some of the other Okauchee waterfront establishments visited.
Little gem in Lake country. Looks like a bar/pizza joint nothing reminds you of French besides Eiffel tower decor. Soup trio has good flavor especially the one with turtle and black bean. Charcuterie plate is delightful with 2 different pâtés prosciutto, salami, pickle & grain mustard. Escargot in parsley garlic butter sauce is very tasty. Mussels in shallot cream sauce is great, especially the cream sauce. The best part is they all served with warm, real crusted French baguette that soaks up all the sauce perfectly. King crab legs are fresh and cooked perfectly. Seared diver scallops in orange ginger beurre blanc cooked perfectly as well. My personal favorite is the duck confit. The duck was cooked perfectly with meat falling apart by slight touch of the fork, Grand Marnier sauce is the perfect companion. All entrée come with house salad - too much iceberg lettuce and barely any other greens, endive is the only good part in it. Will definitely go back again! Did I mention that they have real crusted French baguette? Wine list is very limited which is quite a disappointment. Need good wine to go with delicious food!
Given all the glowing reviews, I was expecting a fantastic experience. Instead I got excellent service and just ok food. I had the filet which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My standard for steak is if I can make it better at home, it's not worth the price to order it out . . . and I definitely could have made a better filet at home. I ordered it medium. It came out rare. It was still a tender piece of meat but not what I ordered. I needed to add salt to make it semi-acceptable. I knew I was not alone with the lack of taste as the table next to me had a filet and the gentleman asked for steak sauce after he was about halfway through his steak. The mashed potatoes were ok but needed salt. The asparagus was cooked well and was the best part of the dish. Again, not bad, just average, but for $100+ bill I expect more than just average. In the end I'm still debating whether to go back . . . maybe a bad night?

Went there last Friday to try their fish fry. Very good. I ordered the pan fried walleye which was awesome! They even serve potato pancakes. My husband ordered the fish fry (cod) which I tried. Nice big piece not too greasy. Have always enjoyed this place despite years of horrible service. I believe the new owners/managers have changed it around. Have been there multiple times this summer and always happy with the service and the food. Still a couple of tools bartending or serving but all in all I am happy.
When I was growing up, a friend's family owned this bar - so it was a real trip to be back in the building during a recent trip to Okauchee. This definitely does seem to be one of the most popular places in the area. When you order a drink, you get to choose a ticket out of a hat to determine if your beer is full priced or discounted. We didn't have great luck, but it was fun all the same. We stopped in early on a Thursday night, but wow! The place was pretty hopping when we left around 7pm or so. The servers were friendly, and the clientele was too. Can't say much for the food as we only got an order of the broccoli, but the beer and service were great!
We walked in and out. I'll say their waterside patio was packed with happy faces. For me it was too loud and seemed "tired". A place for the young and/or young at heart...

The bar is small and elegant but the food is eh. I had a peppercorn burger of some kind that I thought was horrible. Maybe its just not my taste but then the next time I got a chicken pot pie and it was burnt around the edges and way over cooked. Its nice and clean though.
