This is one of the reasons I just love wandering Wisconsin; finding some totally legit BBQ in a little river town. Walk through the door and you're in a rural diner; all kinds of antiquery all over the place, and the menu board up on the wall behind the "Order Here" sign. Once you place and pay for your order, you go sit down until your waitress comes out with this plate of smoky nirvana and puts it in front of your lucky face, at which time you attack your personally-prepared pulled-pork wrap, savor the smoky goodness, and wallow in the sheer small-town-BBQness of it all. Seriously, you will get some awesome pulled pork and brisket here, you will spend time with some really great people, and you will cherish the memory of eating here for years. Get here early though, they close at 7 pm.
Food was okay at best. The brisket needed a lot of sauce in order to be flavorful and I had to take tums later. Owner was rude and grumpy and actually made us (my family) and another customer wait to complete her phone conversation before acknowledging us at the counter. Our drinks and part of the order were forgotten when the place was near empty. I am surprised to see the other positive reviews. Perhaps it was an off day?
THE REAL DEAL. The ribs are all we tried, but they don't need sauce. They were perfectly smoked to a lovely pink, the meat came off the bone very nicely (not falling off, but not stuck either) and they were SO tasty! Baked beans and potato salad were top notch, too. It's all homemade here... I will purposely look for this place every time we come back to the area!

Wandered down to Beth's for lunch during an impromptu motorcycle tour of the region. If you'd like to get the picture in your mind, our riding gear is more astronaut than pirate. Our friendly server started listing the specials and we stopped her after one; the hot beef sandwich. Smothered with gravy and served with a fluffy, buttery scoop of mashed potatoes, it looked the part. And then we were offered creamed or grated horseradish; I was pretty liberal with mine and it really opened up the flavor. Finished the meal with righteous pie that was by all accounts homemade and locally sourced - I had the blueberry and my buddy had the rhubarb custard. Excellent on all accounts with a buttery, flaky crust and filling that was still bit tart and not the syrupy sweet mess you'll find at lesser establishments. One of the better small-town diner's I've patronized while wandering aimlessly around the Driftless Region, and certainly worth a stop if you have a predilection for well executed diner fare.
Beth's twin bluff cafe is nice local eatery. The food was tasty with good sized portions. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food came out quicker than expected and the special orders were correct.
Don't let 1970's decor dissuade you from eating here. We ate here two mornings in a row. I ordered the same thing. Stuffed hash browns filled with diced ham and scrambled egg. I think this area has the best hash browns in the world. Awesome. Service was fast and friendly. Very local place. It looks like some of the locals have been eating here 30 years plus...no kidding.
