Had a date bring me there Friday night... We met at 7, wasn't overly busy but had a constantly flow of people in and out. The woman playing the piano was great but the music was really random. Our server was very friendly and didn't mind having to come back to the table a few times when I couldn't decide what I wanted. Dinner was good. Nothing overly fancy but it was fresh. We both had pasta. The bruschetta was really good! My ONLY issue was the young girl who was either hosting or busing tables. We had two bites of our meal and she was at the table asking if we wanted boxes. It felt very pushy. Our server still took very good care of us. I would totally come back again.

Oh Cannova I wanted to love you. The atmosphere seems so cozy, but the food falls short. I've been here 3 times when I travel to Wisconsin and while the lasagna is good, the rest is just ok. A cheese and meat platter with no crackers or bread? Hmmm odd Salad was just ok. The calamari was rubbery and over fried.

They were very friendly and nice. We had cheesy garlic bread for appetizer, salads and we had dessert the - chocolate spoon cake and tiramisu .. It was great!!! If you like a lot of chocolate and some raspberry you might like chocolate spoon cake!!! I and my mom recommend this places... My friend miss molly and michael plays Irishland music on Sunday!!!

The first time we traveled from Appleton to eat dinner here, it was really crowded. And it was raining outside, so we couldn't just walk around for the hour+ to wait. We went to Cranky Pat's instead. A few weeks later, we came back on a night when there was no musician playing (which had been the case on the previous Saturday we tried to eat there). So, we finally made it back and we were not entirely impressed. The atmosphere is really great: dimly lit, romantic, classy. The food, however, was just okay, at best. The garlic bread was VERY salty, so much so that my boyfriend tasted it but couldn't manage to eat any more. The thin crust cheese pizza was also pretty salty, though a step above the garlic bread. If the prices had been better, this would have been a solid three star establishment. However, given what we had to pay for this meal, I have to be honest with myself. I know we could get much better for much cheaper. When the waiter asked how we liked the food, my boyfriend was honest about how unsatisfied he was with the meal, and the waiter didn't even offer a free dessert or to at least not charge for the garlic bread. I don't think he even really apologized. Also, we were seated near a bathroom where you could see directly into the toilet as the door opened and closed. It was also noticeably too warm there. Come here if you don't mind waiting, like live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and enjoy a classy/romantic atmosphere. I won't go out of my way to come back here, but I am curious to hear the live music and maybe to try something else. Maybe. Tip: They don't take reservations, so either prepare yourself to wait or carefully choose which night you choose to dine here.

Should have read the reviews because now I agree with them. The atmosphere IS charming and we went on a night with really talented live music. I would include the entertainment in the price of the meal because $15 ($2 more gluten free) for a pasta dish with no protein or vegetables is not worth it. The sauces were saturated with butter which really upset our stomaches for a good 3 hours after meal. The Italian dressing was creamy and not oil based which added to the upset. If you like fatty Americanized dishes I would recommend but if you prefer lighter italian meals I would stay away or bring plenty of digest pills :-). Too bad because family owned downtown restaurants are the way to go. Just not our cup of espresso OH and ps- they don't have espresso!!

Don't know what happened tonight but we had a really poor experience tonight. We ordered for four adults and two kids. My wife ordered the "Market Salad" and literally had about a 1/2 cup of salad. She had to add her own salad. Also there was no bread included in the order. This used to be a place we enjoyed. I'll give it another shot but I've got a bad taste in my mouth right now.

This place is over priced for what you get. The food was very underwhelming. We ordered pizza which was soggy and didn't have a lot of flavor. The table we sat at was directly in front of the waiter station and we were bumped every time someone needed silverware, water or a to go box.

I've been to Cannova's several times now, and am still unable to see it's appeal. First off, everyone mentioning the table for two by the bus/water station is 100% not overreacting. If you are seated to the left, back in the corner by this cabinet where they house things like water pitchers and to-go boxes, ask to be moved. The table is FAR too close to the station and the space between tables is too narrow for you not to be interrupted every time a member of the wait staff comes by to get something, which is extremely often even on a slow night like last night. A quick note on the bread they start you with: it's not noteworthy except for the fact that the kitchen has no idea how to cut a loaf of warm bread. It comes to you utterly smashed and doughy when a good bread knife might change everything. Only a small issue, but an odd one to have to point out. My first noteworthy meal at Cannova's came last night when I decided to forgo the pizza. I know, it's a pizzeria, but I have yet to find something on their pizza menu that rises above mediocre. I can make better pizza at home, though my companion did seem to enjoy her veggie pizza. (The "bar" size name may be misleading, you can order it at your table.) I started with the creamy garlic soup, which was wonderful. Maybe not first date food unless you're both eating it, but I wasn't on a date so I dug in. Very good. My companion also enjoyed her Caesar salad very much. My entree was prosciutto wrapped chicken on a bed of pureed squash, served with goat cheese gnocchi. The menu should ABSOLUTELY note that this has balsamic on it. Not only do I not care for it, but uncooked fermented ingredients should always be listed due to the very real instance of medical complications. (For example, those taking MAOIs should not have to wait until their meal shows up at the table to be informed of this ingredient, and heaven forbid they not notice until they have already taken a bite.) I'm sensitive to issues like this because it shows a lack of understanding on the restaurant's part of the diversity of the needs of their guests. The dish itself was only okay. The gnocchi was tasty, but the chicken was pallid and wet, while at the same time the prosciutto was tough and overdone on the bottom. Barely a three star meal. I'm disappointed with Cannova's and don't believe I will return to give them another chance. There are other places to go for good Italian in the valley.

Blargle. We were seated at a table that should have never been placed there--nearly hit when people entered & exited the bathroom and practically got a prime view of people using the toilet. Plus, it was quite dark--enough that I have good vision but I wouldn't have been able to see the menu if I didn't have my cellphone as a light source. The quality of the pasta and sauces was not good. I would not return.

Salad was bland ; calamari was rubbery; scallops where gritty. And when we sent back my wife's shrimp and parm because it had a strange taste. The owner came over to tell us that she tasted it and there was nothing wrong with it. Waitress was great and professional.

Loved the place. The creamed vegetable soup was to die for. Atmosphere was wonderful. I will definitely return when in the neighborhood.

This small quaint restaurant has a nice bar area and good atmosphere. It can get crowded on the weekend, so be prepared for a bit of a wait at times. Pizza and pastas are very good. Bar has a good selection of craft beers, though their draft beer seems a bit warmer than it should be. Hands down the best spot for a Friday night in Neenah.

..queue "where everybody knows your name..." That's exactly the feeling we get when we walk into Cannova's. Rightfully so, we always call ahead, wait till there's only the bartender and two patrons left standing, and then we make our way down to end the night with some scrumptious hand-crafted pizza. Kyle and Debbie, the owners, have saved us so many evenings. Food is excellent, service is why we keep coming back, and atmosphere is simply warm and cozy.

The food here is really not worth the price or the wait. The staff was friendly and fine but there is nowhere to sit while waiting for a table. The food was just ... something you could get at Olive Garden for way less. I was expecting some good italian cuisine, since I lived in Italy for awhile I was very excited. Nothing Italian about their food. Nothing was seasoned properly. Big Disappointment.

The atmosphere at Cannova's is wonderful and the bruschetta appetizer was great. I wasn't very impressed with the pizza. The flavor of the pizza was fine, but the crust was way too dry and had too much flour.

We have had pizzas here a couple of times. Never strayed to anything else on the menu. The pizzas were pretty good. The atmosphere is nice; very "family-owned" feeling.

The atmosphere here is great, and I love the sausage pizza with yellow peppers. But. . . It is always crowded on the weekends. Last time we were told it would take 30 minutes to get a table for six and ended up waiting more than an hour. Our party was then crammed into a table for four right by the piano. In addition, it's a little spendy for a typical night out.

We have eaten here on numerous occasions. Food and drinks on all occasions were very good and the prices are just right. The beer selection is outstanding. In the summer they have a patio area that is nice and away from a lot of noise. You can anchor your boat for free in the harbor by the library and walk over for a bite or beverage. It is about a 5 minute walk at best. There have been nights where we have been placed in some very tight quarters when dining on a Friday or Saturday night but it isn't unbearable, it goes with this type of atmosphere . If you are looking for a romantic dining experience, this is not the place to go but it does have it's own special charm.

As good as local can get. Everything on the menu is dynamite. Your best option is to get a seat at the bar, order some drinks, and then finish the night with a pizza and dessert.

yes yes yes. Try the big cookie dessert. This resto. is def. worth the long wait. Some of the best calamari I've ever had. I LOVE CANNOVA'S. Also, great live music!!

The steaks here are amazing!! We have tried other items on their menu and they are good as well but the steaks beat them all. The service is always good, prompt and friendly. There is a wait at times but this place is well work the wait.

Went in because an old friend works there. Got seated immediately. I actually really liked the feel of it. Its dark earthy tones n just looks n feels nice. Ok which means squat at a restaurant so lets get to the food. Its expensive. 23 bucks for a small steak... However.... It literally melted in my mouth. The portions were good sized. I ordered calamari for appetizer, and bruscetta and both were seriously friggen good. The bruscetta will haunt my dreams. Lol. Seriously good food. I have been in restaurants like that from PA to MN. From WI to LA. I honestly think Cannova's food is in top ten. Only thing was everyone wore black but the kid who filled our water. He was in a t shirt that had the name of the place on it. Really out of place. Kinda made me feel bad for him. As if pouring water wasn't bad enough, he was singled out to look like a scrub by management. Everyone else was dressed in button up shirts. The service was great tho. They were training new servers so at times we felt a little overwhelmed with "how's ur food" and "can I get u anything?". Better than not seeing anyone though. So bottom line is pricey, but impressive regardless.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
