Look for the Blatz sign on the building, and go down the stairs to the basement entry. Rathskeller is a dark, small bar with good A/C and pleasant bartender. A bottle of Blatz is a buck. There are all kinds of knickknacks scattered about, every surface in the place has seen better days and the ceiling is a bit low. However, unlike a lot of other places that are just a pastiche of a dive, this is the real deal. Nice people, cheap drinks and pleasant surroundings make you feel like regular from the first time you walk through the door. Drop by when you're on the road and need a break -- you'll be glad you did.
