This is like a diner you see in movies or TV, but I'd never actually seen in real life. It was super cute! Seems to be owned by two people, one cooks, and one is the waitress. Both were so genuine and nice, too. They took time to talk to us and made us feel welcome. Couple that with the amazing food, and we have a winner!! I ordered the build your own omelette with cheddar and bacon, plus green peppers for an additional 0.50. It's two eggs, so it's easier to handle, but definitely did not skip on the adds I put in! It was delish. It came with toast, hashbrowns were an additional charge, but I don't normally eat them anyways, so I was fine with skipping it. The price was about $6 too which was downright awesome! My guy got scrambled eggs with toast, bacon and hashbrowns, and proudly declared he was in the "clean plate club" upon finishing. We both couldn't stop eating! Their toast came out pre-buttered, with way more than I would normally add on myself, hence it was super good! But be warned of that! Our meals plus one coffee was about $14.65, which was a pretty big steal compared to Chicagoland. I would definitely recommend this place!
Solid all-American diner food! Can't go wrong with a place that serves breakfast all day (at least on Sunday, which is when we were there) and has a sign that says "EAT" out front. Great place to stop off of the bike trail with the family.
The homemade soup and homemade cherry pie are fabulous, as are the entrees. The prices are very reasonable.

I took someone who is very dear to me here for dinner on a very special occasion. We were just hoping for food that was edible out in the middle of the country, and we were so pleasantly surprised by a couple incredible dishes. The onion soup was very good, the spice rubbed fish was excellent, and the curried stew was just absolutely fantastic. The staff treated us extremely well, and the service was provided much more quickly than I expected on what appeared to be a busy night. Also, on the way out the door, we discovered some of the most amazing knitting on display and for sale near the exit. I can't remember the name of the knitter, but my friend told me she was the famous grandmother queen of knitting and the craftsmanship is out of this world!
Great food and service. Fine dinning in the most unexpected place. Make sure to share deserts. So good. Only thing that could improve it is rotating tables so everyone could taste everything.
My wife and I have eaten here twice and found it outstanding both times. The preparation, taste and presentation of the food was as good as it gets. I would rate this among best restaurants within a hundred miles. Jane always makes sure that we have an enjoyable visit. Don't forget to save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding!

Look for the Blatz sign on the building, and go down the stairs to the basement entry. Rathskeller is a dark, small bar with good A/C and pleasant bartender. A bottle of Blatz is a buck. There are all kinds of knickknacks scattered about, every surface in the place has seen better days and the ceiling is a bit low. However, unlike a lot of other places that are just a pastiche of a dive, this is the real deal. Nice people, cheap drinks and pleasant surroundings make you feel like regular from the first time you walk through the door. Drop by when you're on the road and need a break -- you'll be glad you did.

Walked into the Eagle Pass Saloon while on a Sunday drive, looking for a burger and a beer - and had one of the best cheap bar burgers of my life. The staff was friendly, the few assorted regulars were nice and chatted with us about the game on TV and never made us feel like outsiders in their small town bar, a common problem at many small town watering holes. We were served our drinks by the affable bartender and given menus. Me and my girlfriend had only come for burgers so we didn't look over the other items on offer too thoroughly, but I did see items apart from burgers; such as ribeye, fish, Philly, grilled chicken, BBQ pork, and turkey sandwiches. The burgers were cheap and huge. $3 for a burger, $3.50 for a cheeseburger, $4 for a bacon cheeseburger, $5.50 for a double cheeseburger, etc. we ordered three cheeseburgers between the two of us, thinking that at $3.50 apiece they wouldn't be very substantial and would leave us wanting. We also ordered some pretty standard issue waffle fries and some delicious hand dipped cheese curds to round out our calorie bomb meal. When the burgers arrived we felt pretty dumb having ordered 3 of them. They were huge; with thick slices of super ripe tomato, grilled onions, iceberg lettuce and pickle spears. I'd say they were close to the 1/2 pound mark, weight wise, my girlfriend thought maybe 1/3 pound. They appeared to be hand pattied and were well seasoned. All in all, some of the best bar food I've had in a long time, at a super cheap price. As I recall, I believe our bill came to $21 for 2 beers, 3 cheeseburgers with the works, and a big basket each of waffle fries and curds. Great deal, great place, great food! Definitely going back some future Sunday. Oh, it should also be noted by Yelp that this business is mis-categorized as a hair salon, not a Saloon/Bar and Grill.
