This location was remodeled a couple of years ago and as a result, is a much nicer place to enjoy my 6 inch turkey on honey oat bread. One of the better Subways I frequent in a few states.

Probably one of the best meals I have had in a while. Service was awesome, staff was so friendly. We had a drink at the bar and then sat down for dinner. Broiled Walleye was great, shrimp and scallop Alfredo was amazing! Will definitely be back again!
We enjoyed a great meal! This is one of our new favorite places to come for dinner in the north woods. We all ordered different dishes and we all enjoyed them. Our favorites of the night were the lake perch and the pepper steak! We even had dessert and the cream puff was phenomenal.
It is so good to see fine dining at Timber Ridge! Chef Rene's is a rare find in the north woods. Outstanding service, wine list and food to please anyone. The wild mushroom soup was awesome and the lamb chops to die for. Saw deer going in and coming out. Hummingbirds fed outside our window. Can't wait to go back!

Delicious. Love this place. You get an entire pot of coffee at your table and they have flavored creamer. These are bonus points in my book. :) crab eggs Benedict was very good. Eggs in the bread-- was awesome. Huge piece of Texas toast that appeared would be heavy but was light and buttery. Bacon was also above par. Thicker cut-- not too crispy not too floppy. Perfect. Hash browns were also amazing. Highly recommend.
I love their breakfasts but the Fish Fry's are less than mediocre. I had the fried walleye and it was soggy. My guest ordered Mac and cheese and it looked liked it came out of a box.
We love this place! The best is the miss piggy Bloody Mary! Family owned business and very high-quality food for the price tag. They don't accept credit cards. You only need one meal for 2 people.

My wife and I wandered over here the last morning we were in Minocqua. My wife had her heart set on a blueberry muffin, but alas - they were out. She then saw the "Bird's Nest" on the breakfast menu - a large mug filled with breakfast potatoes into which a poached egg is nestled, then layered with cheese. This is served with toast and fruit. It looked inviting, so we both ordered that dish. We were not disappointed! It was very tasty, the fruit was nice and fresh, and the toast was perfect. This alone would have made for a nice breakfast. However, when you add in the wonderful coffee and the outdoor seating along the shores of Lake Minocqua, the result is a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Signature JMK for a relaxing breakfast in the Northwoods.
This place is pretty awesome! Wonderful atmosphere, beautifully decorated. Limited menu but that's okay with me. great food! Try the muffins too. Staff could have a little more personality. But I really liked this place. Can't wait to go back.
Meh. After seeing the rave reviews, we were expecting a really good meal. Messed up some of the orders and the food itself was overpriced and wholly mediocre. Portions are very small. Service was very slow. Was hoping to find a new great change of pace in town. Not so much. Also, this is NOT a place for kids. No good kid options - even for adventurous eating kids. Menu just too limited.

Thirsty Whale

Reviews:
The food was pretty good. Had a long drive home, so only did a few appetizers and a couple of beers. The nachos were excellent! The hostess was way less than friendly. Stood at her stand for a good minute before bothering to look up and acknowledge my friend and I standing there waiting to be seated. After looking up, and us telling her we would like to sit outside, she realized the tables on the deck near the water hadn't been cleaned. Granted they weren't even close to being busy and the table should have been cleared, she copped a huge attitude about now having to "go and clean it." As she then walked away with us wondering what the big deal was. Teamwork, anyone?! Oh well. So we sit down and wait another 5 minutes to have our drink order taken. Drinks did come fast initially, though. And there wasn't a long wait for the food, either. However, don't expect to get a timely refill (bottles were empty for 10 minutes, and we have to snag the server). Speaking of, $4 for a bottle of beer?! Yikes! All in all, the food was good. The beer was cold. The view was absolutely amazing. And to too it off, there was a ski team practicing for us to watch too. I don't know if I would return to the Thirsty Whale, but it was a decent stopping point for this trip.
Good food and atmosphere. Menu isn't extensive; food is a few notches above bar food. Good burgers. Great view of the lake. Great place for a casual lunch or dinner.
The Thirsty Whale is always a MUST on our annual trips to Minocqua. You can't beat the views of Lake Minocqua. And I've gotta say, they have the best margaritas around. It's nice and convenient to be able to pull up your boat or wave runner to the shore or pier and grab something to eat. You probably won't want to bring kids any time after 8:00 ... we came for a late dinner and there was a bachelorette party there with 'phallic-ness' all around. We've been there, too, where there are some 'creepos' later in the evening - or some drunk bar flies. Otherwise, it's an all-around great place. Great food, great views.

It was our second night in Minocqua and didn't really feel like going out for dinner. Plus, there was a football game on that we wanted to watch, so we figured we'd order some pizza. This place was highly recommended by the place we were staying and some Yelp tips left by Chicagoans said that it was sooo good and they should know because they're from Chicago blah blah blah. So am I and I'll tell you that this wasn't all that spectacular. First of all, they don't deliver. I'm not going to totally hold that against them because it is a small town, so maybe they don't have enough people around town to justify having a delivery service. That's fine. I placed my order for pick-up for a 16" with ground pork sausage and green peppers. The menu I found said something about sausage pizza sauce or something to that effect. No idea what that means so I didn't think anything of it. The way it was written made it seem like they were just listing ingredients out. Shrug. It was ready quick enough. We opened the wrapping and saw the pizza cut into rectangles. What? Who cuts pizza like that? It's either triangles or squares. Not long ass rectangles. How are you even supposed to hold that without everything falling off? We took a pizza cutter and cut it into squares. The crust was okay. Kind of flavorless. The cheese was amazing, which is to be expected in Wisconsin. There was a good amount of it too, so it was nice and gooey. The chunks of pepper were a little big, but still good. Here's the problem: the sauce. Now I know what that description of the sauce meant. They cut up the sausage into tiny bits and put it in the sauce, so you get bits of meat in every bite. Sounds okay in theory, but in execution, it's kind of off-putting. Every time you eat, you get bits of sausage stuck in your gums, teeth, and cheeks. It's like you have to rinse with water every time. I couldn't wait to brush my teeth. Vegetarians beware. We had regular-sized pieces of sausage on the pizza, so I don't think it was exclusive to our pizza. It made the eating experience not too enjoyable and we didn't even want to save the rest for the next day like we would normally do with leftover pizza. These guys aren't the only pizza place in town (believe it or not), so when I'm back, I think I'll try somewhere else.
THE best pizza in town. We have a standing order every Friday night we come into town. The sauce is what makes it. The billy bread is amazing too.
I've had pizza from here a few times, pizza is probably my favorite food so I can tell a good one from a bad one. I've never dined in here, but when I come in to pick it up, the atmosphere is average. The employees are friendly. but the pizza is just O.K.

We stopped in for lunch today to give it a try before prime tourist season. We were quickly seated and had chips and salsa in front of us in a flash. Our server took our orders and the food was out in under 10 minutes. The cheese enchilada and bean burrito on my lunch platter were both good; the rice is nothing special. Hubby enjoyed his chimichanga as well. Lunch was a bargain at under $13....we drink water, so that helps. The parking is somewhat limited, so during busy times there might be some difficulty there. Enjoy this newcomer to Minocqua!
Mmmmm good choice tonight
You have good local Mexican Restaurants everywhere, but, El Mez is exceptional. You need to drive 1500 miles Southwest to get any more authentic. Outstanding Food and Service. Awesome decor and they give free shots of Monte Alban Mezcal with a lime all day. They truly know how to treat their guest. Drive WAY out of your way to try eat here. I love it. My wife loves it. My kids love it. Even my parents love it and drive 60 miles each way once a week to eat here. Thanks Mom and Dad for telling us about it!

Well, we will never go to this place ever again. Our 2 year old was having a tantrum and decided to sit on the floor. While in the the process of getting up to get her, the owner proceeded to come over and told us to "pick that one up". Completely rude and uncalled for! And not only that, the food wasn't very good. So disappointed.
The lines are a bit long, but its well worth the wait. The food is good (the donuts are INCREDIBLE), the service is good, and the atmosphere is good as well. If you are ever in Northern Wisconsin this is the place to eat breakfast.
Holy tourist trap Batman!! I must warn you, however, that if you have children they will force you to take them here. Just act like you love it and then tell them that the place closed or something.

Kobe Sushi

519 Onieda St
Minocqua, 54548
Reviews:
Not bad! I'm not going to compare Kobe Sushi to Chicago sushi, California sushi, NY sushi, etc... this is a little sushi spot in Minocqua, WI and based on that and that alone, it's a pretty A-OK place! We had a couple fancy rolls, one was in a soybean wrapper and just ok, the other, the dragon, was really quite good. The spicy tuna was fine and average! I didn't do any nigiri or sashimi... Service was friendly, the restaurant is nice and tidy. I'd definitely go back to Kobe and try more! It's really exciting to me to have a sushi spot in Minocqua now!
Awesome and authentic! Wonderful fresh sushi! The spicy mayo sauce is Jenny and Tom's own recipe and is excellent!! We are very fortunate to have this restraunt here in Minocqua.
I live in Milwaukee and have had many wonderful experiences at many different restaurants there and I thought I could use that as a comparison, but instead I was a bit disappointed. I know Minocqua is pretty far away from a major city and so quality and price could be a factor, but from the reviews I reserved some hope. I had the Edamame which was ok, but it was microwaved. I also had the Wasabi Roll, the Tuna Sushi, and the Black Roe Sushi. The Wasabi Roll was very, very small compared to what I am used to in Milwaukee, especially considering the price. It was so small I had a hard time being able to tell what I was eating, which was very disheartening. The Tuna Sushi was ok, but didn't seem as fresh as I had hoped. The Black Roe Sushi was pretty fabulous, but I found the seaweed to bee stiff and a little stale. All in all, it was better than I thought it would be BEFORE I read the two previous reviews. The thought of eating sushi in Minocqua was a bit frightening, but it definitely wasn't as fabulous as I thought it would be after reading the reviews. Maybe I picked the wrong things to eat, but I really just left there with little taste in my mouth and a wallet I felt had been unjustly pillaged.
