My family and I have been dining at Ding A Lings, while on our annual summer vacation up in the Northwoods, for as long as I can remember. We've *never* had a bad meal! We usually come on Sunday's when they have their Roast Duck, BBQ Ribs & 16oz Steak on special. Y-U-M-M-Y! Dining here is a true experience. You are greeted at the front door by a giant U shaped bar & by the owner who sat us (She was an absolute doll! And her husband is a FANTASTIC chef!). Their cocktail menu is fun & filled with the great blended creamy drinks of yesterday like a Pink Squirrel & a Grasshopper! They have a great little salad bar with many options you don't see every day... like pickled watermelon rind?? OMG delish! Or liver patê, cheddar cheese spread & horseradish cheese spread. Only in Wisconsin! We sat by the windows and had a excellent view of the many (very active!) bird feeders they have on the property. Dinner and a show! We loved every minute of it. We have had both the duck & ribs for many years (the ribs are amazing!!!) But, this time we all decided on roast duck (Both ways with either cranberry or orange glaze) and we're blown away with how delicious our meal was. Crispy skin, sweet glaze and succulent meat.... it was roasted to perfection! Our server was SO sweet & was fun to chat with. Very attentive, too! Overall, Our dining experience was superb! I highly recommend visiting Ding A Lings on your next trip up north.

My family has been dining here for years as a 4th of July week tradition. So I was excited to bring some friends there for dinner this year. We went there on a whim and crossed our fingers we would be able to get in. I was so embarrassed by the way the hostess treated us for not making a reservation. Apparently they were short staffed and we were pretty much turned away. The "hostess" was so rude my friend literally stood there with his mouth open. Needless to say they have lost our business.

This little supper club looks like it ccould have been a roadhouse back in the day. I remember having a decent meal with a really good salad bar, which is unusual for a supper club. Of course this is Wisconsin so the first thing that greets you when you walk in is a huge horse-shaped bar surround by video poker machines. Take a close look at the bar as the top is constructed of aggregate stones cemented together. Also they have a wonderful birding area with feeders, baths, etc. so you can watch the birds while you nosh in the dining room. This is just a very comfortable, peaceful place.

Don't let the 1970s / 80s decor fool you. It's exactly what it looks like... old and outdated. After virtually being scolded for not having a reseravtion, I had reservations about staying. There was nothing on their website to indicate "reservations strongly suggested" or anywhere for that matter, so I don't know why the owner took that attitude.. During the hour wait not one customer walked in. About four other couples finished their meals and walked out. Their were at least eight vacant tables where we could have been seated. When they were ready for us, the owner said "Well, I guess now is as good as time as any to seat you." Well bless you, I thought. The owner was cold and rude,,, After being seated we were greeted with "We only have two steaks (the special) left and they come medium-rare. I guess you don't get a choice with their top choice steaks. They must have been precooked I thought, and heated up in a microwave. Wow. This place has changed over the years -- even if the same old decor hadn't. The two steaks we did have were flavorless. And one was overcooked. What a terrible thing to do to a steak. To add insult to injury, they charged $5 per steak to add mushrooms and onions. Yet they had no problem asking you gleefully if you wanted that with your steak -- as if it were part of the meal. This place used to have a decent salad bar... now it's a mish mosh of lettuce and toppings, with very little other sides. The potato salad was edible. And I choked it down. It's too bad that this place has changed in attitude and quality of food. It used to be a "super" supper club. Back in the 70s and 80s. Would I recommend it to others? Only as a last resort. You can do better up in the northwoods.

Absolutely my favorite place to visit for dinner Up-North. I would order anything on the menu. Ribs, walleye, scallops, and steaks are excellent. Also, the French onion soup is unbelievable. Definitely will be back!

Don't expect a fine dining 5-star meal but it's not a dump either. This place is average. The staff is very friendly and courteous and recommend if you want to get a decent meal (nothing fancy) for a decent price.

Typical supper club restaurant. Nothing fancy, just decent steaks, fish and a nice salad bar plus a full bar that can make you anything. You need reservations on the weekends as it gets busy. Draws locals and tourists. dingalingsupperclub.com

If you love good ol' Wisconsin northwoods supper clubs, you'll love the Ding-A-Ling. I really enjoyed it. The decorating could be called 'dated', but I love the red telephone, the decorations.... I felt very comfortable and will definitely be back. Good food, good drinks. "Norm" from Cheers has been there, and a picture of his visit is on the wall.
