    I live about an hour north of Milwaukee and we frequently travel around the state, so the idea of an homage to the supper club seems unnecessary. There are so many excellent supper clubs in Wisconsin with great food and cocktails and they've been around forever. It appears that now people who live in the Milwaukee metro area realize they are missing out on something and this restaurant is attempting to provide it. But we were curious so we went there for dinner. We all thought the food was good. We had the perch fry, steak diane, pork kebab special and steak sandwich and schaum torte for dessert and started with cocktails (the old fashioned and the martini were both very good). The standard relish tray that comes with dinner was pretty skimpy for four people and bare bones compared to a real supper club. But, in general, no real complaints except that it's more expensive and not any better than an authentic supper club. Because of that, it has an air of phoniness about it. I think part of it may be the strip mall location, which doesn't seem like the right setting for a supper club. We did think the service was too excellent, meaning they were so solicitous, it was actually intrusive. We all started to laugh every time one of the servers came over because our conversation was interrupted constantly. I guess if I had to choose, that type of service is preferable to being ignored, but it was somewhat annoying.

    Fantastic! Warm atmosphere, great drink selection, affordable wine list.... Lazy Susan gears you up for a quality experience. Ribs, chicken, veal, beef Wellington all are superb. Worth it!

    I agree with the other comments regarding the water. It was terrible tasting. It ruined the whole meal. Get a water filter or serve bottled. I will never go back there.

    Having frequented many of the Bartolotta restaurants over the past ten years, my wife and I were anxious to experience Joe and team's version of a Wisconsin supper club. Definitely a new place as it was packed. Parking lot was full and thank goodness we had a reservation. We were seated right away. As the hostess dropped off our menus, she touted the handmade cocktails of the old school variety. Old Fashioned's, Sidecars, and Tom Collins were some that she mentioned. Then the wait began. Our server team stopped by with some water and returned 5 minutes later with our relish tray and bread basket. Nothing too extraordinary, but they did have the staples of carrots, celery, radishes, olives, and pickles. The bread basket held two rolls, some pumpernickel rye bread and some crackers and breadsticks. Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more and then finally placed our drink order. While waiting an unexcusable 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, our server team took our dinner orders. The drinks arrived just ahead of our salad and soup course. The Old Fashioned was bright red and tasted like a kiddie cocktail. There was no Korbel to be tasted and no muddled fruits to be found. The sidecar was served up in a strange combination margarita/martini glass and was very shy of hitting the top of the glass. It was watery and very bad. Both drinks were destined to be sent back...That is, if we could wait out our servers. We waited quite a while once again for our Baby Spinach salad and French Onion soup to arrive before we could report our drink issues. The French Onion soup was prepared well, but either used a very sweet variety of onion or the cheese it was topped with gave it some sweeter tones which threw off the whole taste of what normally is a hearty soup. The baby spinach salad was good with a bacon vinaigrette dressing, walnuts, and blue cheese. We waited once again for our entrees to arrive. My new drink arrived, and I am not sure what happened, but my sidecar was pink. With Korbel (brown), Triple Sec (clear), and Sour Mix (yellow), I am not sure where the pink came from exactly. I quizzed the servers, but they had no idea either. I'm no color expert, but brown and yellow don't typically make pink. Ugh, another long wait for another drink was coming. The salmon was average with a very good olive tapenade and a broccoli side. The bone-in filet was done quite well with some good char on the outside, but the cut of meat was a bit less than expected with some fat and gristle. As the highest price steak on the menu, I would have expected a bit higher quality of meat. The double-baked potato was great in size, but short on flavor. It was almost as though simple cheesy mashed potatoes were piped into the potato shell with a few chives thrown on top. Pie of the day was a French Silk which was a good contrast of a bitter chocolate bottom layer with a heavy cream upper layer. The Bananas Foster was good as well, but the sauce could have been warmer to meld with the ice cream. The largest disappointment was the grasshopper. Who makes a grasshopper with chocolate syrup streaks down the sides of the glass? This isn't the Chocolate Factory or a kids malt shop. Cut the whipped cream, no chocolate, and add some liquor you can taste. It tasted more like a mint shake from Baskin Robbins. Overall, I would say the long waits between courses and server visits, the poor drinks, and the average (at best) entrees, make this a good try and one I can hope that Joe and crew will fix as time goes on, but also one we won't put into our regular rotation. I will say that the server team did a good job apologizing for the drinks, the long waits, and the other issues which was appreciated. But, had other things been up to par, no apology would have been needed.

    I am a Bartolotta frequent guest and enjoy all of their restaurants around town. So was very excited that a Bartolotta restaurant was going to open in Mequon. Unfortunately, our experience on Friday, October 19th did not live up to the Bartolotta standard. First of all, when you have a reservation, you expect to get seated somewhat close to your reservation time. Instead our party waited in the front of the restaurant, which I then found out was right in the middle of waiter foot traffic to a room to the right of the entryway - not good planning. There is no good place to wait for your table (which you shouldn't have to anyway) in the front of the restaurant. We should have known at that point, we were not in for a wonderful night. Finally, when we were escorted to our table, I thought I had walked into a nursing home - very basic tables and chairs on top of "palm frond carpeting". I haven't been in a restaurant with carpeting in, I don't know when. I think the folks at Bartolotta must have thought that everybody in Mequon is elderly and on a budget so we'll give them nursing home decor, menu items popular from the 50s and a wine list with a bunch of cheap wines (it won't matter they have no taste buds anyway). Although there was someone on oxygen as we entered the restaurant, we still had hope that someone would open a successful restaurant in Mequon for those of us younger than 65 years old. Although the server was a nice girl, we waited for everything....menus...waited, tell us about the menu then said we'll let you look at the menu....waited, then drink order.....waited a long time and the drinks were not good. The "relish tray" was nice and had a few pieces of picked vegetables on there, but the portion was really small. This is NO BUTCH's CASINO, so don't even think you'll get something like they provide. The bread basket had one fresh roll in it and some stale marble bread - not enough for a table of four, but it did have a ton of wrapped crackers on it. That must be their way of trying to keep the bread fresh because of the long wait times. They must be training their wait staff to differentiate the menu by referring to part of it for those with "the mature palette", which when said once was just annoying. When referred to more than once became offensive, as if to say that anyone ordering from one part of the menu did not have a mature palette. Additionally, our waitress asked my son if he wanted a refill on his root beer, which he did. She forgot it for two trips back to the table, but then on the third gave us a really weird diatribe about how she has to charge for each subsequent refill, but because she forgot to get it for him, she would pay for both his root beers. Although I appreciate the gesture, clearly she didn't agree with restaurant policy to charge a few bucks for each root beer. Finally, the entrees. My wife's NY strip had no flavor, my daughter's filet was TINY (and she easily eats the full size filet at Mr. B's, her favorite restaurant). On the menu they have an option for either a 7oz filet or a bone in filet - nothing else. Must be for the little old ladies who can't eat more than 7oz of steak. I had the Beef Wellington because I had heard about it as something eaten in the 50s and actually thought it very good. Because I knew I had a rich entree, I ordered what I could from the "cheap wine" list and it didn't pair well. I think they're so concerned with having enough wine for the seniors on a budget they forget the selection from $60 to $110 in reds, which is where most of their really great wines are in the other restaurants. If you want a big red, there's Caymus and Silver Oak, but you're looking at around $200 bucks. That's more for a night at Mr.B's, Bacchus or Lake Park Bistro, not this nursing home casual place. I'm sure it was really tough to get a good concept to be successful in Mequon as there really are a lot of old people here, but it's too bad that couldn't have been something with style and flavor. Oh well, guess we're still going to have to drive downtown or out to Brookfield or Tosa for their other restaurants!!!

    If I was handing out reviews based on desserts, Joey's would get 5 for the spectacular schaum torte (and Death's Door vodka [dirty] martini). Unfortunately, there were other areas that caused the scales to tip. But, I will start off on a positive note. The front of house was very pleasant and immediately informed us of the slight wait for our reserved table. We were seated 15 mins after our time, but it was not even an issue. We were enjoying our cocktails at the bar. The host approached us at the bar when there was a remaining 5 mins wait and it was not a problem. They simply transferred our bill and we were on our way to the table. We were seated and greeted by the adorable Zi. Angie and her were our dual servers this evening, and they were wonderful girls. Very sweet and attentive. The relish tray and bread basket followed. The only real star was the rye bread. I have seen some amazing relish trays, reviving the traditional supper club, but the silver tray that was placed down was a bit to be desired: a lone scallion, a few quartered radish heads, bread & butter pickles, black olives, celery, carrots and watery Green Goddess dressing. Not the most impressive. Show me some real pickled gems, oversized croutons, and Merkt's cheese, and we're getting warmer. Unfortunately, you have to spend in the $18 realm before you approach the good stuff. We did bite the bullet and went with the Badger. I like a good slice of liver sausage, as it brings me back to my childhood, having liver sandwiches on rye bread with Granny at her kitchen table. But, some of the standards would have been better suited on the complimentary platter--a petite assortment--and with dried bread pieces and rye bread. The Parker House rolls were a little rich as a starter and were not as dense as the traditional namesake. From there, we went with the entrees of the following: Beef Wellington with creamed spinach; the NY strip with red potatoes; perch with red potatoes; soup of red snapper with red sherry and shrimp cocktail. The NY strip was "nothing comparable to Mr. B's or Eddie Martini's." That could be seen as good or bad, seeing that a comparison was made to another Bartolotta restaurant. However, Mr. B's should excel at steaks, seeing that is their specialty. However, supper clubs normally tote their steak badge proudly. The NY strip may have failed (in terms of doneness), but the Beef Wellington was a true star. The beef was perfection, prepared medium rare and with the consistency of near-melted butter. Throw in pate, flaky crust, and mushrooms, and you have a superb rendition of the English classic. Loved it. The addition of the creamed spinach seemed appropriate. It was rich, yet delicate, and complimented the meat. The creamy soup had a surprising spicy element that elevated the flavor. Of the seafood duo, the red snapper soup completely out-shined the poor presentation of the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was sweet, but there were 4-5 pieces hooked on the dish that surrounded a bowl of cocktail sauce. For $11, it was quite sad. I expected a "prettier" display. J.G.'s needs to kick it up a notch with their cocktail (see: a martini glass with chopped ice with the rim blanketed in naked, medium-sized shrimp with a silver ramekin of cocktail sauce nestled in the middle. That presentation screams more "supper club" than the poor showing that was placed in front of me. The perch was prepared and presented well in comparison to the other surf items. But, for all of the things served this evening, the schaum torte...oh my...was L-O-V-E-L-Y. So lovely. Sugared egg whites beaten and baked to form a beautiful piped crown of meringue was the exterior of the torte, and the inside was vanilla ice cream. All of this goodness was topped with slightly macerated strawberry slices. This was not just a pretty dessert. It was amazingly delicious. I would come back just for a glass of champagne and the torte. My great grandmother would certainly approve (a schaum torte expert in her hay-day.).

    Disappointed Mother's Day Brunch. The restaurant is a supper club, which means 3 courses - appetizer, main course, and dessert. The food style and options are dated because the supper club means bulk food production. Service was good but some of the food was mediocre. Not worth the cost.

    First time at Joey's. Food and service were great. Try the Lazy Susan, great appetizer. The Old Fashion was a hit with my husband. A little pricey but well worth it. Service was great. Definitely a place to return to.

    I ate there last night and it was nothing great. They are trying to be a supper club with the relish tray and the bread basket. They need to iron out some kinks. This was only their 3rd day open so the wait staff should improve. The portions were very skimpy and the drinks were not poured to a decent level. Charge me more, but give me a full drink. The steak was good, but not anything special and the presentation was nothing. The French Fries were frozen from a bag and not very good. The chopped steak lacked flavor and was very small and overcooked. I will go back because I like Bartolotta's other restaurant, but I may wait until it gets better.

    We were so happy to have this restaurant in Mequon. We called for a reservation on a Monday night and were told 60% of the tables were committed and we would have to go on wait list. No problem. Well, we sat at a table in the bar which was very nice--not too noisy on a Monday. We decided to stay at this table, but throughout the next 1-1/2 hours quite a few tables were still empty. Seems to be a devised plan on keeping customers drinking at the bar and waiting for a table to "become uncommitted"! Each of us tried one of the soups--which were very good and then the salads. My waldorf salad was superb! Very fresh and not too loaded with mayo. We hope to go back but their "commitment" policy should change.

    Went in to check this place out last week, assuming it would be a quality Bartolotta experience and for the most part it was. The staff was very friendly, the menu cool with some classic and traditional selections, but VERY pricey compared to other options in the north shore. I assumed with the downtown prices the quality of my filet would be good, but it was mushy and gritty, generally a characteristic of a less than great steak. Also the wine by the glass list was limited and poor wine by the glass selections. I will probably try it again, but it was a let down on the first impression.

    We are generally fans of all things Bartolotta, so we were excited to check out the new offering in Mequon. We were going out for an adults only dinner, but we were pleased to see that this place is kid friendly! It even has a kid's menu. Of course, none of that matters if the food and service is off. Fortunately, my whitefish and red snapper soup were very well done. My wife loved the beef wellington, which was perfectly cooked. And the affordable wine list is a winner too! All in all, five stars for putting together the so-hard-to-find combo of kid friendly and excellent food.

    This place is great! From the lazy Susan appetizer to the outstanding pan fried perch!5 stars from all of us! Service is excellent. They may have had a few glitches to work out that past few months, but judging from our experience and the crowd there tonight, I think they have been successful. Will definitely be back.

    Went here for the public opening night. Servers were pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. We had escargot, shrimp cocktail and creamed chip beef appetizers, all very tasty. I had the strip steak with double baked potato, both done perfectly. Steak was juicy and flavorful. Didn't have room for dessert this trip. Prices were reasonable for this style of restaurant. Good place for a date night out or a small group of friends.
