Came back home for holidays. Had dinner with family. It was the first time I have been here. I had half rack of ribs. Mother had a ribeye, father had a ribeye. Expertly cooked on all accounts. Owner spent several minutes conversing with us. He knows his food -- brought out some extras sauces for us to try. I like spicy bbq sauce with my ribs, which he made special for me -- and it was delicious. Came back several days later with my father. He had the catfish Po boy, I had a shrimp Po boy. "Who DAT sauce" was like a delicious remoulade. I normally refuse to eat seafood from any place that does not border coast. I broke that rule to try the shrimp Po boy. I'm glad that I did. French bread for PO boy is the original bread from Louisiana. PO boy was overloaded with shrimp that were perfectly deep-fried. Dad said the catfish was delicious , farm raised and imported from Mississippi. More than enough fries with the meal. Best eatery in Menomonie. Hands down.

I was recently in Menomonie for a conference, and some friends and I were really craving comfort food. Two of us are vegetarian, and this place came up immediately in Yelp. I don't know why, though, because there are very few vegetarian options. However, the sides I ordered (hash browns, biscuits, applesauce, buttered corn) all hit the spot. The popovers were also excellent (and the waitress brought a second round because we had been waiting for a while). I wanted to try the cream puffs because I'd seen good reviews and got the Bavarian cream (and also had the option for chocolate and Oreo/gummy worms??). I think I got my hopes up from all the glowing reviews. There was a lot more (heavy) cream than I expected and a distinct egg taste, but it was fine. Friends who ate meat really enjoyed the Norwegian meatloaf.
I want you to take everything you know about "Norske"s and "Kro"s and toss it out the window. Good. Did you do it? No? I have a feeling you didn't and there's still a little Kro-knowledge you're holding back. Let it go. Of course, it was easy for me because the name means shit to this mutt. You know when you eat Mexican (food, not people), how they give you chips (food, not people)? Well this place gives you popovers. I didn't know what a popover was. At first I thought it was stupid; just a bloated biscuit or a bland muffin lacking berries and other things. But that's me. Then I stuffed it with crap and the light shone upon me brother! This thing is a multi-purpose wonder of Thor. Stuffed it with eggs. Stuffed it with sausage. STUFFED IT WITH ANOTHER POPOVER AND MADE A POPCEPTION!
A hidden gem outside of the main part of Menomonie! Food is great, service is great, and just about everything is made in-house. The popovers that are brought out to start are flaky and just the right amount of sweet. We split a Hawaiian chicken sandwich, which was very good! The meat itself was wonderful, and the sauce and toasted bun really brought everything together. The sweet pickle that came on the side was incredible! The chocolate cream puff is TO DIE FOR. But what really makes it? Request a side of the strawberry jam. Absolutely heavenly with the chocolate cream puff! Definitely not an experience to be missed!

Stayed in Menominee this past weekend for the Eaux Claires music festival and stumbled upon this gem. The shop itself is a historic building in Menominee with red brick interior and exterior, exposed plumbing, and - presumably- some original woodwork. Big space with a balcony area. Set up with old lee furniture some of which is refurbished and painted bright "poppy" colors. Very cool space overall. They roast their own coffee and brew their own beer in-house. The coffee and espresso were exceptional in my opinion. I bought a growler of their organic pale ale and am just laying into it now - first few sips are excellent - I love unfiltered ales. Food - they have a short menu of items - some deli salads, bakery, bagels. We had spinach quiche, bagels, and bran muffins in our two visits - all very good. Environmentally friendly with compost able cups and silverware (and cans dedicated to compost) Love finding places like this. Would recommend it to anyone driving though the area -- and it's not far off 94 -- definitely worth it!!!
We were on our trip home to Madison (from Minneapolis) and needed some hard core caffeine. We yelped and found this as our closest choice. I love the atmosphere of this place. It's got history..including creaky floors. We asked for a 140 degree latte and a green tea. Both fantastically done. Glad we came here instead of a Caribou or Starbucks. Not sure if their hours are permanently changed but they are open until 8pm Monday thru Saturday.
I travel frequently for my job, and I love coffee. So, I have experienced a lot of cafes. Without a doubt, this is a little authentic, Wisconsin gem that sports some amazing coffee and really good vegan fare.

Wow, we heard a lot about this place before we got there, so our expectations were high, and we're sorta use to disappointment where we live, this place exceeded all our expectations and then some! We'd like to KEEP our waitress Christine and have her all to ourselves, she the best server I have ever had! Super friendly, great advice, knows the menu and knows what she's talking about! Food was amazing! I wish we had a designated driver! From the sound of it, the drinks sound awesome! My advice would be to get as many dips and mayo's as possible, they really make an excellent meal even more amazing. Matt, they don't have wi-fi because they want to feed the masses, not the beat necks that surf for hours. Go to Starbucks or the library Mr. Taste buds. They don't open till 4pm, they take everything except American Express, there's only one table that seats 8 or 10, so, not too sure about the party option. We live by Santa Barbara, wish we could take this whole place with Christine home with us!!
We had Zanzibar Shrimp Pasta and Asian Shrimp and Pork and we liked both of them - my husband liked that his Asian Shrimp and Pork was a little spicy. It is very Noisy when busy but interesting place. Salad with Thai dressing very good - loved the unique bread Very good, interesting food, better than I expected to find in Menominee Nice friendly service
Bartender Katie - very welcoming and friendly-fantastic service! Very flavorful chicken Masala & the Trout tacos appetizer was sooo yummy!

Great independent sub shop located near the university that we literally stumbled upon (with the help of other yelpers of course) as we were determined not to have another fast food lunch along the highway on our way back to Minneapolis from Madison. Menu is a bit confusing but we ended up each getting a sub that had some amazing sauce/oil on it that was not like anything else I've had in the "sub category" - in fact it is a disservice to even call it a sub as it was close to the best sandwich I've had in a long, long time. Will definitely have to keep this one in mind for our next road trip.
The atmosphere is pretty neat and cozy. It seems like a nice place to work on some homework or relax and read a book for a bit. The music is trendy and isn't too loud or too quiet. Perfect place for a conversation with some friends. I didn't eat anything, but I had a cold press iced coffee with caramel flavoring and it was pretty tasty. My girlfriend ordered a French soda and I tried some. Very good! Not sure what kind it was, but she swears by this place'a French sodas so I'll take her word for it that they're all delicious. If you're here in Menomonie than this place is worth a stop.
Out of this world warm hoagies and delicious soup -- their Beer Cheese is THE BEST!! Live music some nights during the week. Located in Downtown - close to campus and lots of shopping!

McDonald’s

1505 N Broadway
Menomonie, 54751
Reviews:
From reading the other reviews, I expected this McDonalds to offer a positive dining experience. While the decor is more of the cheaply-made-to-look-upscale variety, the food prices were much higher than other franchises in the area. What deterred me the most was the various flat screen TVs blaring the inaccurate and usually guffaw-worthy Fox News - definitely not a bi-partisan source for accurate information. In short, I will not be visiting this McDonalds again.
If your kids need a break from the car, stop at this McDonald's in Menomonie at Exit 41 off I-94. There's a pretty fabulous indoor playground with a giant slide and seating for lunch. The whole play area is in a glassed-in addition and completely separate from the regular McDonald's dining room. It's all very old school McDonald's - I remember when indoor mini playgrounds were pretty common at McDonald's when I was a kid, back in the day when they did birthday parties with ice cream cakes. But don't worry: this location has definitely updated its bathrooms since then, and they do a good job keeping it clean and well stocked. This is a good exit to stop at. You'll be right in the town of Menomonie, so there are a lot of other food options in case you're getting tired of Chicken McNuggets: Wendy's, Arby's and Perkins are all visible from the McDonald's parking lot alone.
Super friendly and the food was fresh. I was also impressed with the large Play Place and the cleanliness of the establishment. I would recommend this McDonald's to anyone who is visiting Menomonie. My favorite part? Not only did the Happy Meals have napkins in the boxes, they had MORE THAN ONE. I LOVE YOU, MCDONALD'S IN MENOMONIE.

Jake’s Resort & Supper Club

Reviews:
Fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. We have enjoyed eating there a number of times. Some of the items we have especially enjoyed are the ribeye, scallops, fried chicken, chocolate cake and any of the appetizers. The only item we have not cared for is the shrimp. It was over cooked and uninspired. It would have benefited greatly from a sauce or something to perk up the flavor. The beer and wine menus offer a great selection and we especially liked the Minnesota and Wisconsin beers. Jake's is our go to for special occasions but is a place we would be glad to return to any day of the week.
Great view of the lake. Everything we ordered was good. I had the ribeye, scallops, and mushroom risotto.
(+) Prime rib, multiple cuts... even a prime rib appetizer (bites) (+) Scenic views of the Wisconsin outdoors and adjacent lake (+) Huge space, both indoor and outdoor but it was winter during my visit so no tiki bar (+) Decent number of beers on tap and daily specials It's a place I'd also like to watch a football game... Go Pack Go!

FINALLY. A decent pizza place in Menomonie. Coming from NY, we were extremely unimpressed with the current pizza selection in the area. Although Toppers is a chain, they have fresh ingredients, a fun attitude about business, and creative concoctions with pizzas and other foods. I just wish they had salads.

They have a fair selection if you have no food restrictions. Otherwise, there are better places, better set up for breakfast in Menomonie. No decaf, no herbal teas, limited selection. Regular coffee is weak. 45 minute wait for eggs and potatoes when not busy. Bacon limp and cold Poached eggs cold, hard and fried sunny side up. Even took a pic of it to figure out how they messed up eggs so badly. Potatoes are ok and the only thing that came out right, not counting the toast which is hard to screw up. New to Menomonie and totally not impressed with my first time here.
"Oh my God! That's the best burger!" Licks sauce from fingers. Mmmm! Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Will be back!
Best food in town, and large beer selection. We have yet to have bad food or service.
