Parsonage Bed & Breakfast

Reviews:
What a wonderful place Craig runs! So happy we chose to stay at The Parsonage for a girls weekend to Madison. The highlights: - Location: While the B&B is about 25 minutes from downtown Madison, it's very easy to get to. The perk of being off the beaten path is, well, being off the beaten path. - Price: The three of us chose the top floor Reverend's Retreat, which can actually sleep up to 6. It had the feel of your parent's attic, but in a good, comfortable way. For the Friday & Saturday night, it was about comparable to what we would've paid to stay at a fancy-pants place in Madison. - Food: Oh my goodness, can Craig cook! The breakfasts alone would've been worth $20/person at a restaurant. Definitely try the juice blend - you won't look at orange and cranberry juice the same way again. - The company: On the weekend we were there, we (late 20s/early 30s) had the pleasure of staying with younger groups of people. Chatting at the communal breakfast table was a nice perk and a great way to get some new tips on what to see & do in Madison. And, Craig and his wife have two lovely dogs. If you're in town, definitely look up & consider The Parsonage.
I worked with Craig to set up a night in the B&B for my sister-in-law and brother. I live in Colorado, so we had to do everything remotely. Also, Craig helped me set up massages for my family. He has been the absolute epitome of friendliness. When I came to visit the Parsonage myself almost 2 years later, he remembered who I was and gave me a wonderful tour of the place. He even honored the gift certificate I had bought for my family, even though it had been one and a half years since I booked it (my sister-in-law was pregnant at the time and they decided to wait until the baby came and everything settled down.) Craig is wonderful to work with, the place is really cozy and adorable, and I would support this business anytime. Thanks for all your help, Craig!
My 8 year old daughter and I stayed at the B&B this past weekend. We stayed in the Sorenson room which was the right size for us. It had an attached, good sized bathroom which was great, and my daughter loved that she got to take a bath in a tub that was over 100 years old. (The water pressure is great by the way). There was an assortment of soaps, shampoos, bubble baths etc in the bathroom too. The room and bathroom were clean and spotless. Craig was extremely nice, helpful, and whipped up a killer breakfast.... a brown sugary, apple, cranberry, upside down baked french toast kind of concoction, homemade pumpkin bread, fresh watermelon, and sausage links. He was very accomodating and asked us the night before if there were any allergies or food issues that he needed to know about. The price was very affordable, and the next time I'm in the area I'll be staying there instead of a hotel. : )

Great food. Friendly atmosphere. You come here and you'll feel like everyone already knows you.
They serve a great breakfast at an extremely reasonable price. Bloody Marys are excellent too. Service was fast and very friendly.
This is our new favorite local bar. They have completely remodeled the inside and it has a really nice, fun atmosphere. They serve a great and reasonable breakfast and make really good burgers. They have some decent specials and game time fun as well. I've never done it but they have "naughty bingo" every few months. The owner is a nice lady named Debbie and she often tends bar. We watched a the badger game last weekend and they served Jell-O shots with every touchdown. They seem to have regulars who are friendly as well. If you are driving down hwy 51, I'd recommend stopping in.

Hands down best pizza around. I love the small town feel. As a local you are sure to recognize more than a few diners or staff members when you pick your order up. Everyone who works there is extremely helpful and you are always in and out quickly. The pizza is one of a kind and with their unique ranch dressing it is absolutely the best! No room for improvement needed.
Excellent pizza! Service was very good and atmosphere was great. My favorite place for pizza in McFarland. There was no waiting for a table and the staff was very friendly and eager to help.
This is a great family owned restaurant that has terrific pizza and good craft beers. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Great local establishment.

Green Lantern Restaurant

4412 Siggelkow Rd
Mc Farland, 53558
Reviews:
My wife and I were really looking forward to going here last Friday, unfortunately we were disappointed. Our verbal 25 minute wait turned out to be about an hour. My wife's burger was decent however the walleye on my seafood platter was the worst walleye I've ever had. Our drinks at the bar were mixed very poorly however overall, the prices are good. I'd say if you're looking for a good, classic Wisconsin lakeside restaurant, skip this place.
I'm sure if I drove far enough outside of Minneapolis I'd find a place about as awesome as the Green Lantern. Instead of doing all of that work, I just wish the Green Lantern would move into my backyard. I HATE bars where I feel like I have to do a lot of work just to try to have a good time. I'm not dressing up or drinking a certain drink just to feel like I have a shot of being accepted somewhere, believe me. The Green Lantern rules because it's completely laid back and totally unpretentious. I've seen such a wide variety of people there and everyone is always having a great time. Besides, the drinks are super strong and cheap - that alone is good enough for me.
Grade: C The food is almost as good as the prices. Decent service.

The fried walleye and perch are awesome; some of the best fish fry I have had with a too die for tarter sauce. The service is great and has a comfortable atmosphere. I look forward to returning for brunch again soon.
My husband and I ate there for the first time tonight and it was great! I'm having a hard time believing some of the bad reviews as the food was wonderful and service fantastic. We left very full and very happy! We were saddened to hear that your restaurant with the beautiful view will be closing in a few days. We wish we would have known of you sooner as we would have become regulars. Best of luck to everyone there in their future endeavors! Thanks for a great meal! :)
Where do you start. First off, it has to be really shitty for me to write a review this place used to be so good. Now, not worth the salt. We had a horrible experience here last summer. Decided to give a chance again this summer and it's worse! Not sure how that was possible but it is. Service is slow. Wait staff is not trained. Steaks are always over done. Never coming back.

Main Moon Chinese Restaurant

4850 Larson Beach Rd
Mc Farland, 53558
Reviews:
Main Moon has been around McFarland for years. Once they moved to Larson in a much larger restaurant it was a much more enjoyable place to not just grab takeout but sit down and enjoy a meal. This joint has some of the best Asian food around, not your average grease bucket you find at some hole in the wall uptown. They're lunch buffet is also an awesome deal! I mean, 10 bucks for an all you can eat of spicy general tsos chicken, delicious pork lo mein (my favorite, and the best I've had) and fresh steamed veggies, not to mention a free soda with it too! With speedy service, friendly staff, and a clean dining room, this is my favorite Chinese place. The only reason I won't give them 5 stars is the dining room does seem a little bland without much eye candy. But hell, if that's the only qualm I have, I'll still be a loyal customer. Keep it up Main Moon!
Main Moon has the best lunch in McFarland, buffet style. Friendly service, gloriously large takeout menus, and sauces like no one else. Try their fried pork dumplings, crab Rangoon, or General Tso's. Their fried rice is legit. All portions are generous. Until secondary Moons are established, make your lunar landing as soon as you can. Delicious.
Tried this because it's local. Terrible, bland Chinese food. Not much else to say. Will never return. My wife wanted me to mention her sweet and sour chicken, which was battered fried chicken pieces with a side of sauce in a bowl. When she asked where the vegetables were (like the picture), she was told there is a piece of pineapple in the sauce and that is what comes with it. As promised, we looked hard into the sauce and found one very small piece of pineapple. Bon Appetite.
